Tee Ball Bat Size Chart: A Buying Guide

Welcome to the JustBats guide on how to buy tee ball bats!

When selecting a Tee Ball bat, length and weight need to be taken into consideration for your player. Sometimes, it’s hard to find the right youth baseball bat that matches all your needs. At JustBats, we base our recommendations for the length of a baseball bat or softball bat on a player's height and weight. But, personal preference and strength plays a key part when selecting the best tee ball bat, especially for younger players beginning their baseball journey.

Tee Ball Size Chart

Recommended bat length (in inches) is based on bat type, player height and weight. This is a guideline and could change depending on player's strength, hitting style, or preference. As far as the weight of your tee ball bat, that is extremely hard for us to recommend as it will vary depending on a player's personal preference, hitting style, and strength. Some players are contact hitters, while others are power hitters. Unfortunately, the best way to determine the weight that is best for you or your player is through trial and error. If you have access to teammates' tee ball bats, it is recommended to test out multiple weights to figure out which is the best option. Or, you can try most bats for 30 days risk free when you add Bat Assurance at checkout.

How To Test the Bat Length and Weight

  1. Measure Length: A correctly sized bat allows the player to maintain proper form, reach pitches effectively, and avoid awkward swings.

    1. Height Test: Have your child stand upright with the bat positioned vertically alongside their leg. The bat should touch the ground and reach no higher than their hip or slightly above it.

    2. Arm Test: Have your child hold the bat with one hand extended outward (parallel to the ground) for about 10 seconds. If they can do this without the bat feeling too heavy, it’s likely a good fit.

  2. Weight Check: The right weight ensures the player can swing quickly and with control, maximizing both power and accuracy.

    1. Swing Test: Have your child swing the bat naturally. It should feel easy and controlled, without dragging or straining their arms.

    2. Control Test: If the bat feels unwieldy or they can’t keep a steady grip, it’s likely too heavy.
