BPF 1.15

Youth bats are universally governed by the USSSA 1.15 BPF. BPF stands for Bat Performance Factor and measures the how fast the ball comes off the bat. Bats must meet this BPF standard to be approved for play. Nearly all youth bats own the 1.15 BPF stamp.

Other League Certifications

Most youth bats with 2” barrel diameters are approved for play in the major Youth baseball organizations. The most popular Youth baseball organizations include Little League, USSSA, Babe Ruth / Cal Ripken, Dixie Youth, PONY, and AABC. Most Youth bats in production today will feature text on their barrels indicating which of these leagues a bat is approved for play.

USABat Standard

Effective January 1, 2018, USA Baseball will enforce the new USABat Standard. Everything you need to know about the new youth baseball bat rule can be found here.
