Description

Louisville Slugger LXT -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WBL2543010

The LXT turned the fastpitch world on its head when it was first introduced many seasons ago. And that tradition of incredible performance continues into the newest rendition of the bat!

Bat Benefits

The LXT is going to be a three-piece bat that serious fastpitch players will want in their hands when they are up at the dish in a crucial situation. It is a three-piece bat that is made up of (1) a composite barrel, (2) a composite handle & (3) a connector piece. The barrel is going to feature the Speed Composite Design and the signature piece of that design is the Single-Disc PBF Technology. That tech allows for an extra-long sweetspot that should reach closer to the connector piece and closer to the end-cap. However, even though the sweetspot is quite lengthy, the balance point of the bat should not be thrown off and result in the bat's barrel feeling too heavy.

Also, be certain not to gloss over the VCX2 Connector Piece that allows for independent movement between the barrel and handle. Due to that feature of the connector piece, it should allow for this LXT to display a very comfortable swinging experience.

Nearly any hitter could fall in love with this -10 bat. It has a balanced feel, but it can put a charge into a softball. Because of that, you'll find slap hitters, traditional contact hitters and even power hitters using this one!

No need to reinvent the wheel John Coach

Pros: Great grip, nice balance and legit sweet spot. My daughter is a gap hitter with speed. CF. Third swing in indoor tournament strokes one about 250 to RF. Nearly hit the LF on the field where the other game was being played. Stick with a proven performer.

Cons: None as of yet. Not enough swings to rate durability. It’s not even fully broken in yet.

Pros: This is my daughters third lxt, she outgrew the other two. She wanted to try a ghost, but when the second one broke, we went back to the new lxt. After a few days of break-in she hit one over the fence at the next tournament!

Cons: Small break-in time, but not a big deal.

About the Brand

In 1842, J. Frederick Hillerich emigrated with his family from Baden-Baden, Germany to the United States. Eight years before, the 1834 Book of Sports had made its debut as the nation's first publication covering baseball. But when he arrived in Baltimore, J. Frederick Hillerich would never have dreamed of the future impact his family would have on America's favorite pastime.

After a short while, the Hillerichs moved to Louisville, where J. Fred started a woodworking shop in 1856. Two of his sons, Adam and John Andrew "Bud" were born in the United States and would later join their father in his business. By 1864 "J.F. Hillerich, Job Turning" was in operation and filled orders for businesses by custom-turning everything from balusters to bedposts.

The firm thrived, and by 1875 the little woodworking shop employed about 20 people. In 1880 Bud Hillerich, who was an amateur baseball player, became an apprentice in his father's shop. Young Bud made his own baseball bats along with bats for several of his teammates.

The debate over the origins of the first bat continues to generate controversy among baseball enthusiasts, but the younger Hillerich was most certainly involved in getting his father's business involved with what would become the company's signature item. According to company legend, the first bat was turned by Bud for Pete "The Old Gladiator" Browning in 1884. Browning was a star on Louisville's professional American Association team - the Eclipse. On a spring afternoon Bud, then seventeen, witnessed Browning break his favorite bat. Bud offered to make a bat for his hero, and Browning accepted. After the young wood shop apprentice lathed a quality stick from white ash, according to the story, Browning got three hits with it in the next game.

Louisville Slugger gloves are worn by more pitchers in Major League Baseball than any other glove.
