Description

Louisville Slugger Meta -8 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WBL2496010

Say "hello" to the drop 8 Louisville Slugger Meta Fastpitch bat. This bat has been waiting to feast on fastpitch pitching for a few years now!

Bat Benefits

Slugger got after it when designing the barrel that would make up this two-piece, all-composite bat. And the result of their engineering tenacity is the new Mash Composite Design. The Mash barrel will come with a gapped wall design that is composed of both an inner and outer barrel that will work together to produce top results. For Slugger's gapped design, the size of the spacing between the inner and outer barrel will be large. As well, that spacing will be consistent throughout the entire hitting surface of this bat. That should help create top performance along the entire length of the bat's barrel.

The innovation didn't stop with the barrel! The VTX connection point will bring back all the benefits of its predecessor (the VCX), but the visual of the connection piece will be improved as it has a new "lattice" look to it. And the F2X end cap will be lightweight and stunning to look at as it is made with a clear material that will look excellent.

If you have a player that is well advanced in their ability to handle a fastpitch bat, then this drop 8 bat should be considered. The weighting of the bat will be balanced and could benefit both power and contact hitters who can handle a little heavier drop size.

Warranty

This bat will indeed be covered with a twelve (12) month warranty extended by Louisville Slugger. If you get the bat and notice something wrong with it before 12 months have passed from the purchase date, please let the Bat Experts at JustBats know about the situation. First time Louisville buyer Leonard Bottorff Other

Pros: Looks like a well built bat considering it's made in china

Cons: Bought this bat as a Christmas Present for my granddaughter who is in her freshman year playing softball in collage. She hasn't used it yet so I honestly can't rate this bat, but I sure do hope it's more durable than the last two we bought. This bat is being called the Ghost buster but time will tell.

Inner barrel issues Curt criger Parent

Pros: Lots of power

Cons: My high school daughter swings a 33in -8. Got this after breaking 2 ghosts. First meta didn't last through high school season, slugger replaced it. Replacement lasted three at bats. Slugger replacing again but this time she's getting a xeno

Meta-8 Bart Parent

Pros: Great look, excellent pop, and daughter loved the feel.

Cons: Even after trying to break it in for a couple days, the bat started to rattle at the end of her first practice, and she didn'teven hit it much. She was still hitting off the tee at practice. The durability is terrible.

My bat has something moving inside of it, almost like a ball rolling up and down the barrel. Is this normal? Brittany Brouillard
Composite barrel bats, like the Louisville Slugger Meta -8 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WBL2496010, can develop a rattle. The rattle will often times sound like pebbles or grains of sand and is caused by particles of resin that have come loose. This will not impact the performance or durability of the bat.

About the Brand

In 1842, J. Frederick Hillerich emigrated with his family from Baden-Baden, Germany to the United States. Eight years before, the 1834 Book of Sports had made its debut as the nation's first publication covering baseball. But when he arrived in Baltimore, J. Frederick Hillerich would never have dreamed of the future impact his family would have on America's favorite pastime.

After a short while, the Hillerichs moved to Louisville, where J. Fred started a woodworking shop in 1856. Two of his sons, Adam and John Andrew "Bud" were born in the United States and would later join their father in his business. By 1864 "J.F. Hillerich, Job Turning" was in operation and filled orders for businesses by custom-turning everything from balusters to bedposts.

The firm thrived, and by 1875 the little woodworking shop employed about 20 people. In 1880 Bud Hillerich, who was an amateur baseball player, became an apprentice in his father's shop. Young Bud made his own baseball bats along with bats for several of his teammates.

The debate over the origins of the first bat continues to generate controversy among baseball enthusiasts, but the younger Hillerich was most certainly involved in getting his father's business involved with what would become the company's signature item. According to company legend, the first bat was turned by Bud for Pete "The Old Gladiator" Browning in 1884. Browning was a star on Louisville's professional American Association team - the Eclipse. On a spring afternoon Bud, then seventeen, witnessed Browning break his favorite bat. Bud offered to make a bat for his hero, and Browning accepted. After the young wood shop apprentice lathed a quality stick from white ash, according to the story, Browning got three hits with it in the next game.

Louisville Slugger gloves are worn by more pitchers in Major League Baseball than any other glove.
