Pros:  Hit hot from the start

Cons:  Used for the first tournament ever and broke right in two. It definitely is a two piece bat

Pros:  Extremely balanced Looks great Has a TON of pop Easy break in

Cons:  I can't tell much of a difference from last year's model minus the cosmetics. It's still a great bat but that is why I didn't give it a five out of five...

Pros:  I absolutely love my Xeno bat. I have had every model for the past few years and I like the graphics and feel of this one the best. I tried the LXT and that is a great bat as well, but I wanted to stick with what I know and I know that this is one of the best bats you can buy for fastpitch softball.

Cons:  None. Mine has been very durable since I bought it 4 months ago.

Pros:  Great bat, great pop! Increased hitting distance by at least 15%. No vibration on the hands. Had the bat for over a year on three leagues and it is still excellent. The whole team started using the bat because it outperforms the rest!

Cons:  Highly recommended not to use in temperatures less than 60°F (to avoid damage/delamination).

Pros:  First bat we have owned that hasn't broke. My daughter (15) had broken 3 bats in a year. This was a replacement that has lasted almost two seasons now. She has hit 3 home runs this season and has used and abused it.

Cons:  None at this point.

Pros:  Great balance, broader barrel with a more forgiving sweet spot, more control at the hands for last minute adjustments to the pitch vs an end-loaded bat. Our 13 y.o. daughter loves it. Great for slapping, but has plenty of pop to let loose and drive the ball. Definitely an advantage with the grip wrapped left handed for better control. Highly recommended for lefties who are slap/contact hitters or are looking for high OBP.

I bought this bat for my daughter in Feb 2017 and it cracked this month, June 2018. I was wondering if you replace these bats or if there is a replacement offer? Just slightly over a year using the bat and actually had to take a full season off due to injury.

The 2017 Louisville Slugger XENO Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat: FPXN170 features a 12 month warranty from LS from the date of purchase. If this bat was originally purchased in February of 2017 then the warranty from LS would have expired in February of 2018. To see if LS would still replace the bat you would want to contact them with a copy of your receipt.

What size of bat do you recommend for 5'8 /145 lbs player?

Based on your player's height and weight, I would suggest a 33" fastpitch softball bat for your player. Unfortunately, we have sold out of the 2017 Louisville Slugger XENO Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat: FPXN170 in that size, but we do have the 2018 Louisville Slugger XENO -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTLFPXN18A10.

Is this bat a 33/23? I see the options box, but it does not list 33/23 so I am confused. Please advise.

The 2017 Louisville Slugger XENO Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat: FPXN170, as of 4/15/18, is only available still in 30/20, 21/21, and 32/22 sizes. All 33 inch models of this bat have been sold and since this model is a closeout we will not get anymore in from LS. If seeking a 33 inch model then we would recommend looking into the 2018 Louisville Slugger XENO -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTLFPXN18A10.

Is there a Xeno sold as a 33 inch, 20 or 21 oz? 23 oz is too heavy for me and takes too long for me to get it around.

The 2018 Louisville Slugger XENO -11 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTLFPXN18A11 comes in a 33"/22 ounce and that is going to be the lightest option that we have in the 33" size.

I am tying to find my daughter a new bat. She is 4’11” and 105 pounds. Any idea what size she needs?

Based on your player's current height and weight, I would recommend the 2017 Louisville Slugger XENO Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPXN170) in a 31"/21 oz size. If you anticipate your player growing this season and would like a bat that can accommodate that, I would suggest getting the 32"/22 oz size instead.

Niece is 12 years old 5' 110 lbs; looking for a new bat for her. She currently uses a Easton stealth 31 in 21 oz. I would like to switch her to a Xeno but which one?

Based on her height and weight we would recommend moving up to a 32"/22 ounce 2017 Louisville Slugger XENO Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat: FPXN170.

I have two daughters who play travel ball. One is 4'11,110lb and the other is 5'2,150lb. Is it possible for them to share a bat? They would really like a Xeno bat but I am unsure which one? They are both very powerful hitters.

Based on your daughters height and weight we would recommend the smaller one using a 30"/20 ounce bat while we would recommend the other daughter you a 31"/21 ounce 2017 Louisville Slugger XENO Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat: FPXN170. However, if they were both comfortable swinging a 31"/21 ounce you could definitely try that out.

My daughter is a 5'10" tall, 160 lb NAIA college player and uses a 2017 Xeno 34"/25 oz and is satisfied with it. I was looking at getting her a 2018 model although she says she is satisfied with her current bat. What is the difference between the two models if any and does that size seem appropriate for her size/weight? She has hit two HRs in each of her first two years in college. I would like for her to have a backup bat in case her 2017 model is damaged during her upcoming season.

Not too much changed with the Xeno from 2017 to 2018, other than some slight end cap improvements. If you can still find the same -9 Xeno she has in a 2017 model it would certainly be a good option, and most likely be discounted due to being an older model.

My daughter is 5'3" 170 lb power hitter. She is now doing travel and is using a used Xeno 32inch and she has been hitting to the fences but never over it. Looking for any bat that will give her that extra pop to make it there. What bats would you recommend? She has a fast swing and is a 3rd base line hitter? Thank you in advance!

Based off the information you've provided, I would recommend the 2017 Louisville Slugger XENO Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat: FPXN170 in a 33 inch and 23 ounce. I think the extra inch and ounce might improve ball flight. You could also consider the 2018 Louisville Slugger PXT -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat: which features an end-loaded swing weight which is geared towards power hitters.

My daughter is 15, 5'6" and a mere 105 lbs. What bat would you recommend? She is just a freshman, but made varsity. I would like her to shine. She hates the ping her bat now makes, is this one composite?

The 2017 Louisville Slugger XENO Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat: FPXN170 is a two piece fully composite model. At her height and weight, I would suggest a 32" 2017 Louisville Slugger XENO Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat: FPXN170 if the 22 oz. size works for your player.

Logan Expert
144138 Click to show/hide answer

My daughter is 5'3" and currently uses the 2016 Louisville Xeno 32"/22 oz and I was wondering if there is a substantial difference in the weight of the 33"/23 oz 2017 Xeno. I don't want to get the bat to long or heavy for her to handle.

Different players will react differently to a larger/heavier bat, so it's difficult to say. Some players hardly notice a 1" or 1 oz difference, while some it can really affect them. I think how much it would affect a player would depend on their strength. Typically stronger players can adjust better than smaller players.

My daughter is a 14 year old high school freshman. She is 5'8" and weighs about 170 pounds. What would you recommend for length and weight for her?

The 2017 Louisville Slugger XENO Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat: FPXN170 would be a great option for your player. At her size, I would go with a 33" 2017 Louisville Slugger XENO Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat: FPXN170, or the 34" 2018 Louisville Slugger XENO -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTLFPXN18A10.

Emma is 4 ft 9 inches tall and weighs 125. She has a lot of power and this is my first real bat purchase. I'm looking for a -10 or -11. What size do you recommend.

My daughter is approximately 5 ft 1 and weighs around 105. She is currently borrowing a Easton 31 in -12. Seems to be working for her. She is a power hitter when she makes contact. I would also say she has a fast swing. Looking for a good bat for her. She is playing on a 10u competitive travel softball league.

Based on your daughter's height and weight, a 32 inch model might be a better fit. The 2017 Louisville Slugger XENO Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat: FPXN170 offers a fully composite design with a balanced swing weight and is a great bat for contact hitters. Based on your daughter's age though the 2017 Louisville Slugger LXT Hyper Fastpitch Softball Bat: FPLX171, and the -11 length to weight ratio, would be a better fit.

What size would you recommend for my 10 year old daughter? She is 4'4" and is around 86 lbs to 89 lbs.

Based on your players height and weight, we suggest a 29" bat. However, the 30" model of the 2017 Louisville Slugger XENO Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat: FPXN170 should also work because of its balanced swing weight.

Jason Expert
140277 Click to show/hide answer

My daughter has a cheaper Easton bat that is -11 (30) now that she is about to try travel ball we are looking for a higher priced/better quality bat in a 31 but do we stay with -11? or go -10? She is 5 foot and 100 pounds.

Based on your players height and weight, we suggest the 31" length, so you're right about that. The weight is tough to suggest as that really depends on your players bat speed and strength. If your player can swing the heavier -10, that is the way to go as the more mass you can put behind the ball the further it can travel. Bat speed is the most important thing though, so if you are worried at all about a -10 being too heavy or think she needs the -11 for the best bat speed, the -11 would be the way to go.

My daughter is 11 years old, 4'6" and 75 lbs. She is little and can make contact, but lacks power. Her bat speed needs to increase a little as well. I am looking at the XENO or LXT. I am thinking of 30" (-11). She uses a 30" (-13) now and it is too light. (1) Would she need a bat with flex in it to get more power or a stiffer bat like the XENO? (2) Which bat would help with bat speed and power? (3) Which bat would you recommend for her?

Based upon your player's height and weight, the the 30" length would be the general recommendation. I would be a little hesitant to get something that is 2 ounces heavier than her current 17 oz weight [if bat speed needs to be improved]. (1) I do not think that extra flex would necessarily provide a distinct performance advantage as the preference for more or less flex in a bat is typically up to the individual player. (2) A bat that may help her in regard to speed and power might be a bat like the 2017 Easton Hyperlite Fastpitch Softball Bat (FP17HL12) in the 30"/18 oz size. I think getting a light swinging bat that can be handled effectively is most important. (3) My suggestion would be the Hyperlite in the 30"/18 oz size.

I'm looking at the new Louisville Xeno and the PXT and LXT. My daughter is 5'7" and weighs 120 lbs, and has a fast swing. She uses a 33 in. with a -11 drop, coach wants her to move up to a 34 in. What is your suggestion on that move?

Based on your player's height and weight, she would be between a 32" and a 33." However, her coach is able to see her swing and would be a better resource for that type of question. The LXT is the most balanced of the three, it features a three piece design, and is mostly hot out of the wrapper with little to no break in required. The Xeno would be the next most balanced option, with a more traditional two piece design offering more stiffness for players that are between a pure power hitter and a contact hitter style, and little to no break in required. The PXT is going to be an end loaded option for the more pure power hitters, and it also features the three piece design, but will require some break in.

My daughter is 9 and is 4 ft 7 inches and weighs 105 pounds. I was looking at the Xeno for her first composite bat. Would this be the right one or should I be looking at a different one?

For the 2017 Louisville Slugger XENO Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat: FPXN170 I would recommend the 30 inch model. On our site, you'll notice our bat coach feature which allows you estimate which size bat you should purchase based on the players height and weight. The XENO is very balanced and is usually preferred by contact hitters.

My daughter is tall, but lite (75 Ibs and 5'5"). Thinking XENO and tried a friend's 31"/21 oz size. What size and preference of bat do you recommend for her?

Based upon your daughter's height and weight, I would recommend the 31" length of bat. As long as she handled the 21 oz weight of her friend's bat well, she should be fine with a 31"/21 oz size of bat. I think this 2017 Louisville Slugger XENO Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPXN170) would be an excellent bat to get for your player.

Why do they break in two, and some on the first use? Granddaughter is looking into this bat, she is 11 yrs old, 5'4", weight 135, can the bat be returned?

The 2017 Louisville Slugger XENO Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat: FPXN170 will feature a 12 month warranty through LS if it were to break and can certainly be returned if unused for an exchange or refund. As for what might cause a bat like the 2017 Louisville Slugger XENO Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat: FPXN170 to break in two, this could be the result of where the ball is struck on the bat and/or sometimes we see bats break due to a stronger player swinging too light of a bat.

My 11 year old daughter is currently has a 31" (-12). She is 5'9" and 100 lbs (facing 40+ mph pitching). Is the -10 going to noticeably slow down her swing (she is consistently ahead of the pitch)?

Based upon your player's height and weight, I would recommend looking for a bat that will be a little longer than than the 31" length. I think she would be able to swing at least a 32" length bat. In regard to weight, I might recommend going with a 21 oz weight. I might recommend checking out a 32"/21 oz bat over this 2017 Louisville Slugger XENO Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPXN170) in a 31"/21 oz or 32"/22 oz.

My daughter is 5'9" tall, weighs 160 lbs, and is a power hitter. Which bat is better for her, the Xeno or Hyperlite?

We always recommend the heaviest bat a player can swing at a good bat speed. The Louisville Slugger Xeno Plus is available in a heavier weight than the Easton Hyperlite, so I would recommend the Xeno over the Hyperlite for a power hitter who can handle the added weight.

My daughter swings a 2016 XENO (32"/22 oz). I was looking to get her the 2017 model. Not sure if she should go up in weight or move to the LXT. She is 5'8" and 138 lbs. What should I do?

Based upon your player's height and weight, I think she would be okay to go to the 33"/23 oz size of this 2017 Louisville Slugger XENO Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPXN170). If she is doing well with the XENO, I do not think she needs to move to the LXT. The LXT does not offer an inherent performance advantage to the XENO. The LXT will just offer the the TRU-3 technology that allows for slightly more barrel flex at contact and limits more of the vibration that can reach a player's hands on a miss-hit (however, if those features attract you guys, the LXT might be something to consider).

My sister has never really owned her own game bat before. I got her a drop 9 combat 34 inches when she entered high school as a training bat. She's 5'7 and about 155. Should she go down to a drop 10? or stick with a drop 9 and go with a 33? Most of the bats her teammates have are 21s or 22s which are noticeably way too light. But the combat is a bit too long for her to get around on faster pitchers.

Based on what you have told us I would recommend a 33"/24 ounce 2017 Louisville Slugger XENO Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPXN179). I think this would be the way to go for your sister because I think this is going to be a good balance between length while keeping a decent good weight for her.

My daughter is 5'5" and weighs around 155 and is 15. We have purchased a MAKO the last 3 years, and we're looking for a switch. Which Louisville Slugger bat is better for her and what size drop -10 should we purchase?

Both the 2017 Louisville Slugger XENO Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat: FPXN170 and the 2017 Louisville Slugger LXT Hyper Fastpitch Softball Bat: FPLX170 are great options to consider. The later will have a slightly larger sweet spot. As for the size to get in either of these bats, based on your daughter's height and weight we would recommend getting a 33 inch 23 ounce model. If she is using a bat that is currently 21 ounces or lighter then we would suggest going, at max, for the 32/22 bat.

What bat would be recommended for a 12U player 5'3 145 pounds? She has had 2013 and 2016 Xeno. What is the difference between the XENO and LXT?

It really depends on what kind of hitter the player is. If she is more of a power hitter I would recommend the 2017 Louisville Slugger XENO Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat: FPXN170, if she is more of a contact hitter then I would recommend the 2017 Louisville Slugger LXT Hyper Fastpitch Softball Bat: FPLX170. The Xeno is a two-piece composite but it hits like a one-piece because of it's stiff construction. The LXT is a three-piece composite with Louisville's New Improved TRU3 Three-Piece Connection, making the bat hit like a two-piece.

Is the LXT Hyper a heavier bat than this XENO?

Neither this 2017 Louisville Slugger XENO Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPXN170) or a model of the LXT Hyper is really going to have an advantage in regard to weighting or balance. Both bats will feature a pretty balanced feel overall. The difference will lie in the connection point. This XENO features a standard connection point that allows for some limited flex at contact and limited vibration reduction. The LXT Hyper features the 3-Piece design that provides more flex at contact and even more vibration reduction.

What size of bat would you recommend for my daughter who is 5'2" and weighs around 115?

Just bought a Louisville bat & it was a 33" (-11) . My granddaughter has always had a 33" (-10). She is 16 and I am worried the -11 model may be too light. I am wondering if this will make a difference & should I send it back?

If your player is used to -10 bats (like this 2017 Louisville Slugger XENO Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat: FPXN170) and still wants that size of bat, then I would recommend maybe looking to getting your player a -10 model instead of the -11 that was purchased for your player (the -11 model will feature less mass than the -10 model and that lack of mass could bring down the performance your player will display).

Do the 2016 and 2017 XENOs need to be broken in, or are they hot out of the wrapper?

This 2017 Louisville Slugger XENO Plus Fastpitch Softball Bat (FPXN170) and the 2016 XENOs were designed to be hot out of the wrapper. If there was a little break-in required on the bats, that break-in should have only consisted of a few rounds of hitting BP or a day of hitting off the tee.

Would this bat be a good one to use even though I'm not a slap hitter. I'm a power hitter so I wouldn't know if this is the bat to choose.

The 2017 DeMarini CF9 Slapper Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXCFA is grip tape oriented to maximize feel/comfort for lefty hitters. If you are not a slap hitter, I would not recommend getting a slap specific bat. A better option for you might be the 2017 DeMarini CF9 Insane Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXCFI. The end-loaded swing weight is very beneficial to power hitters.

I haven't found many reviews on this bat. I have however found many reviews on the DeMarini CF8-10 DXCFA "Slapper". How does this bat compare to the CF8 -10 DXCFA Slapper?

The 2017 DeMarini CF9 Slapper Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXCFA features a Paraflex Composite barrel which is stronger than the Paradox Plus+ used on the DeMarini CF8 -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat: DXCFA "Slapper." Other than this slight change, the bats are very similar with the 2017 model being mostly a continuation of the CF8.

My daughter is a lefty and likes to slap but also likes to drive the ball. Is this a good combo bat?

Yes, you would be able to slap and drive the ball well with the 2017 DeMarini CF9 Slapper Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXCFA. The longer barrel will help with slap hitting but not hinder the ability to drive the ball.

Looking at this bat for my daughter. I need a 33"/23 oz (-10) size. Is this bat end-loaded?

This 2017 DeMarini CF9 Slapper Fastpitch Softball Bat (WTDXCFA) is not end-loaded. If you wanted a CF series fastpitch bat in the 33"/23 oz size with an end-load, I would recommend the 2018 DeMarini CFX Insane -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat (WTDXCFI).

My daughter is 5'4", 118 lbs and she has the CF7 (32/22) bat now for hitting and slapping. She has been using this bat for 2 years now. Should I move her up to the CF9 (33/23)? She is a power hitter and pretty good at slapping.

Whether or not to move your daughter up to the 33/23 2017 DeMarini CF9 Slapper Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXCFA will depend more on how you feel she is currently handling the 32/22 bat as well as if she has grown any since that purchase. We have a bat coach feature that allows a customer to enter a player's height and weight to determine proper length and we would recommend using this to see if a 33 would be advisable.

Is this a one piece bat? Also what is a slapper bat? Can a right hander use this bat?

The 2017 DeMarini CF9 Slapper Fastpitch Softball Bat (WTDXCFA) is a two piece composite bat. The slapper means it is designed for left handed slap style hitters. A right hand hitter can us the bat, but it will cause damage to the grip tape.

Hi are there any differences between the 16, 17 and 18 slapper bats? Are there other slapper bats recommended? My daughter is a left handed slapper and has the 16 model and loves it.

Each year the Slapper's gain some new technologies but have similar features. The 2017 DeMarini CF9 Slapper Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXCFA would be very close to the 2016 a good fit for your daughter.

The 2017 DeMarini CF9 Slapper Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXCFA is a composite bat, so we would suggest 150-200 swings off a tee or soft toss while rotating the barrel 1/4 turn between swings to give the bat a nice, even break in.

The main difference between the 2016 DeMarini CF8 -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat (DXCFA) "Slapper" and the 2017 DeMarini CF9 Slapper Fastpitch Softball Bat (WTDXCFA) is going to be the composite used. Description for 2017 DeMarini CF9 Slapper Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXCFA
New for 2017! The leader in fastpitch is back and better than ever. Not only does it feature a new number but DeMarini has improved the most popular model in its class and continues to lead the pack with its advanced features. The 2017 DeMarini CF9 Slapper Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXCFA is perfect for those left handed, speedy slap hitters. In comparison to the DXCFP -10 model, the Slapper features a lower MOI and an extended 14" barrel for maximum plate coverage and better barrel manipulation. In addition, it will also feature a unique grip tape orientation to maximize comfort and feel for lefty hitters and will decrease the chances of the grip bunching or ripping in comparison to the 'normal' orientation. However, don't believe for a second that you must only slap with the DECFA. When you don't want to slap, this bat acts as a lighter swinging -10 with enough mass and pop to give contact hitters an advantage when driving the ball into the gaps. Like all other CF9 models, the Slapper comes with the brand-new Paraflex Composite Barrel which offers 22% stronger carbon fibers compared to the Paradox+ Composite on last years model. This makes for less composite material needed allowing for the lightest swinging DeMarini bat ever! Additionally, it allows the composite material to lay more consistently creating a more responsive barrel, a massive sweet spot, and hot out of the wrapper performance. The D-Fusion 2.0 Handle Technology is back with a vengeance and still eliminates vibration on off-center hits while redirecting more energy into the barrel. With a two-piece composite design, a 2 1/4 inch barrel diameter, and a -10 length to weight ratio, the DXCFA will be approved for play in ASA, USSSA, NSA, ISA, and ISF. The 2017 DeMarini CF9 Slapper Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXCFA is also covered by a full twelve (12) month manufacturer's warranty. DeMarini: For the gamers! Get yours today with Free Shipping!
