2017 Axe Bat Lineup With Signature Mookie Betts Baseball Bat

2017 Axe Bat Lineup With Signature Mookie Betts Baseball Bat

The revolutionary 2017 Axe Bat lineup has been released and, as the team at Axe claims, it is for the bold. Axe continues to push the limits of innovation in the baseball bat industry, which the 2017 lineup proves. It consists of five (5) BBCOR baseball bats, seven (7) wood baseball bats, six (6) youth big barrel baseball bats, four (4) youth baseball bats, two (2) fastpitch softball bats, two (2) tee ball bats, and one (1) slowpitch softball bat. JustBats has them all, which is why we wanted to explain the ins and outs of each.

The newest addition and highlight of this series is the MB50. Inspired by MLB All-Star Mookie Betts, this limited edition baseball bat was designed by the man himself. It features a -10 length to weight ratio, a 2 ⅝ inch barrel diameter, and is available in lengths ranging from 28 - 32 inches. It contrasts with the other senior league models as it features a white base rather than Axe’s traditional black base. This is the perfect choice for a travel ball player who wants to make an impression on the field and raise his level of play.

The other 26 baseball and softball bats are broken down into seven different models. The Avenge, the Elite, the Element,  the Element Hyperwhip, the Origin, the Hero, and the Danielle Lawrie pro model. This is not including the wood baseball bats. These seven models include composite, aluminum, and hybrid designs that all have unique features. A feature that is new to this year's Axe Bat lineup is the HyperWhip end cap. It is composed of composite or TPU materials depending upon the model you are swinging. This cap has an angled top that slopes away from the hitting face, eliminating any unnecessary weight from the non-hitting side. The result is a balance point that is closer to your hands with the fastest and most efficient swing speed you’ll ever experience.

Let’s start with the Avenge, Axe’s only fully composite design. This two-piece bat is made up of the BCP composite barrel which is one of the toughest materials on the market for long lasting durability. On the other end, the composite Flex handle will maximize whip and barrel speed at impact for a guaranteed further ball flight during every at bat. The Axe Avenge comes in five different models, which include:

  1. Axe Avenge -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat: L150E
  2. Axe Avenge ASA / USSSA Slowpitch Softball Bat: L154E
  3. Axe Avenge BBCOR Baseball Bat: L140E
  4. Axe Avenge -8 Senior League Baseball Bat: L141E
  5. Axe Avenge -11 Youth Baseball Bat: L142E

Next up is the Elite! Only availabe in a baseball bat, the Elite is a two-piece hybrid design with a lightweight composite handle and an alloy barrel. The barrel is constructed with Axe's Mantic alloy - a military grade formula that increases performance and durability with one-sided hitting. A new feature to the Elite for 2017, but not to Axe Bats, is the innovative Endogrid technology. One of the most comfortable swings in the game gets even better with the addition of this technology. Essentially, engineers at Axe strip the handle down to a wire frame grid and then fill it back up with a lightweight, shock-absorbing urethane. The result is less sting and vibration in the hands and more confidence at the plate! Whether you are a looking for a youth baseball bat for your Little Leage All-Star or the next big BBCOR baseball bat, the Axe Elite is the bat for you. It is available in these four models:

  2. Axe Elite -5 Senior League Baseball Bat: L133E
  3. Axe Elite -9 Senior League Baseball Bat: L131E
  4. Axe Elite -12 Youth Baseball Bat: L134E

The Element is third on our list because it has three offerings. Previously, this model was only available in a BBCOR baseball bat and a youth baseball bat with a 2 1/4 inch barrel diameter but that is no longer the case. In response to growing demand for this design, Axe has added a youth big barrel baseball bat with a 2 3/4 inch barrel diameter for 2017. The Element is the higher end one-piece aluminum alloy design that Axe has to offer. Similar to the Elite, this model is made up of Mantic alloy and features the Endogrid technology for unmatched durability and reduced vibration. The 2017 Axe Element models include:

  1. Axe Element BBCOR Baseball Bat: L137E
  2. Axe Element -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: L143E
  3. Axe Element -13 Youth Baseball Bat: L139E

Now let's talk about the Element Hyperwhip. You could almost say this model is a two-piece hybrid design and we'll explain why. The Hyperwhip design is only available in a BBCOR baseball bat but we would expect that to change in the future because of the greatness associated with this model. Like the Element, this is a one-piece construction made up of the military grade Mantic alloy. BUT, this design comes with the ingenious HyperWhip Fusion barrel. Basically, this BBCOR baseball bat looks like it has the Hyperwhip end cap but the carbon fiber extends down the barrel a full three inches and fuses directly to the one-piece construction, providing the most balanced Axe bat ever.

To finish up with the aluminum baseball bats, let's move on to the Origin. The Axe Origin is another model that has had high demand and because of that, a new senior league baseball bat has been introduced for 2017 with a -10 length to weight ratio and a 2 5/8 inch barrel diameter. This model is more affordable than its one-piece counterpart, the Element, in large part due to the difference in aluminum alloy. Axe's LP1 alloy makes up the Origin to help maximize performance and reduce weight without sacrificing durability. The other difference here is the fact that this design features an end loaded swing weight, rather than a balanced swing weight, that is recommended for power hitters. The three models for the Origin are as follows:

  1. Axe Origin BBCOR Baseball Bat: L132E
  2. Axe Origin -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: L144E
  3. Axe Origin -12 Youth Baseball Bat: L135E

The Hero is Axe's tee ball bat that has garnered a lot of praise from both parents and youth players. While it does feature the USSSA 1.15 BPF certification, this bat is recommended for tee-ball play only. This model is a one-piece alloy design constructed with the LP alloy for performance and durability with one-sided hitting. With a -11 length to weight ratio, your little all-star will crush it off the tee. It is available in two different color schemes - black with yellow and teal with white and black.

  2. Axe Hero -11 Tee Ball Bat: L129E

The pro model of the 2017 lineup is the Danielle Lawrie fastpitch softball bat. With the new ISF approval, this design is ready to go regardless of the league you're in. A one-piece alloy design with a -12 length to weight ratio, you'll be able to get this softball bat around with tremendous swing speed for further ball flight. Danielle Lawrie, 2 Time NCAA Player of the Year, stated, "...I can honestly say the Axe is the first bat where I really can feel my hands through the hitting zone. After using this, there's no way I can see myself swinging anything else."

Rounding out the 2017 Axe Bat lineup are the wood baseball bats. The interest in Axe wood baseball bats has never been higher with the success of Major Leaguers Mookie Betts and Dustin Pedroia. These two exclusively swing Axe handled bats and consistently put up All-Star caliber numbers. Axe has delivered a variety of different models for players of all ages. They have two pro models that are MLB approved, one BBCOR design for high school and collegiate play, two youth wood bats, two one hand trainers, and one fungo bat.

Like all of the other previous year Axe bats, each baseball bat and softball bat in the 2017 series features the patented Axe grip with its oval-shaped bottom, angled knob, and flush backside. Plus, it is the only bat engineered to support the biomechanics of the swing. This design is scientifically proven to provide better bat control, increase power and speed, enhance comfort, and reduce the risk of injuries. Here are the scientifically proven benefits broken down one by one:

  • Better Bat Control - High-speed video reveals a "hammering" motion from the traditional round knob. The Axe handle stabilizes the grip, increasing barrel control.
  • More Power & Bat Speed - Range of motion is increased and tension is reduced in the hands, resulting in greater power transfer and more bat speed.
  • Enhanced Comfort - The Axe handle is ergonomically designed to fit naturally in the contour of your hand.
  • Reduces Injuries - Traditional handles put tremendous pressure on a single point of the hand, which contains the commonly broken Hamate bone. The flush backside of the AXE handle relieves this pressure.
