Which bat is better will come down to how you like your bat to feel. If you like a more balanced feel to your bat, then the 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -5 (MAXSL105) would work better for you. However, if you prefer your bats to have an end loaded feel, then I'd go with the 2015 Easton XL1 -5.

Swing weight is completely different from the actual weight of the bat. Swing weight is determined by balance, ease of swing which is called M.O.I (Moment of Inertia), flex of the bat. The actual weight of two different bats could be the exact same on a scale but the difficulty to swing them could be very different. The 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -5 Senior League Baseball Bat (MAXSL105) is very well balanced giving it a lighter swing weight than more end-loaded bats of the same size.

This 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -5 Senior League Baseball Bat (MAXSL105) will come with an all-composite build and a pretty balanced swing weight like a regular MAKO model. However, it will feature a single-piece design that allows for a stiff feel at contact. The MAKOs are two-piece models and feature barrel flex at contact. The performance for this MAXUM has been pretty solid and the bat also features a 30 day trial period that would allow a customer to send the bat back to JustBats for a full refund or exchange if it was determined that it was not the bat for you within 30 days from the purchase date (that 30 day trial period is unique for the MAXUM models at JustBats).

Unfortunately, this 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -5 Senior League Baseball Bat (MAXSL105) will not be allowed for use in the Junior Division of Little League Baseball. The reason it is not allowed for use is because this MAXUM features USSSA 1.15 BPF certification and composite barrel material. If a bat features the USSSA 1.15 BPF certification, the only way it can be allowed for use in the Junior Division of Little League is if the bat also features alloy barrel material (and a 2 5/8" barrel diameter).
