Pros:  Great pop and balance. My 12yr old plays 13u travel ball and if he continues to move up I knew that 14u would require drop 3, so I chose to ease the transition with a drop 5 this season. He loves it and is still getting around on that fast ball inside.

Cons:  N/a

Pros:  Less than a month after purchase my son hit his first HR. Now approximately a month after that first HR we just left a tournament where he cranked three. Several others on the team are beginning to hit with it as well. if i can get some of the still shots from his first HR ill submit them for action shots with the bat.

Cons:  Not really anything negative to say. There is a little vibration if you do not get a solid hit.

Pros:  Ok so our son made the local 12 u travel team, so we started looking for him a bat. A friend recommended justbats.com so after reading review after review we decided to go with the new 2016 Easton XL 3. What a GREAT choice we made. So a couple weeks go by and we are playing in our first tournament and our son gets up to the plate. Batting 9 in the batting order he hit a dinger over the center field fence in his first at bat !!!! Man was we so proud his first ever home run !!!

Cons:  None so far

Pros:  I originally bought this bat after reading some reviews. My son is 13 and next year he'll have to use a drop -5 so I thought I'd buy something decent he could practice with and occassionally use. Anyway, his drop -10 died so he had to use this bat for the tournament this weekend! Wow, the first game he went 3/4 with great pop. The second game he hit his first home run, priceless!

Pros:  My son plays 13U baseball. His first time up with this bat he hit a line drive triple over the left fielder's head. He hit the ball hard during his other at bats as well so it seems that this bat has good pop and he really likes it.

Cons:  Unfortunately, during my son's second game using this bat, he hit the ball off the end of the bat and the end cap broke and half of it came off the bat rendering the bat useless.

Besides the color and one being 2 3/4" dia. and the other being 2 5/8" dia., is there a difference between the two 2018 USSSA Beast X-5 bats? What is the advantage of one size of diameter over the other?

There is no performance difference between the 2018 Easton Beast X -5 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL18BX58 and the 2018 Easton Beast X -5 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL18BX5. You touched on the two major differences in the colorways and barrel diameters. The larger barrel (2 3/4") diameter will give you a larger surface area for contact, but occasionally will have more durability issues than the 2 5/8" option.

Is this bat comparable to the Combat Maxum?

The 2018 Easton Beast X -5 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL18BX58 is a one-piece alloy just like the Combat Maxum. However, the Beast X is end loaded whereas the Combat Maxum is balanced.

My son has been using the 2015 XL1 and loves it. What is the current comparable bat?

Considering that 2015 XL1 was an end loaded, two-piece composite bat, I would recommend checking out the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST XL Senior League Baseball Bat: SL17MK5. This 2018 Easton Beast X -5 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL18BX58 is another good bat but with it being a one-piece aluminum he would certainly notice an uptick in vibrations felt on contact.

Both the 2018 Easton Beast X -5 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL18BX58 and the 2018 Easton Ghost X -5 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL18GX58 will have new X-Tended barrel designs resulting in larger sweet spots.

My son has been using the 2016 Easton XL3 (drop 8) the last 2 seasons. How does the 2018 Easton Beast X -5 compare to that bat?

The 2018 Easton Beast X -5 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL18BX58 is basically the 2018 version of the 2016 XL3 he has been swinging. The Beast X -5 offers an end loaded swing weight, same as the 2016 XL3 -8, just 3 ounces heavier overall.

Does this bat have good pop? Would a composite bat have better pop?

Unfortunately, we do not have reviews yet on this 2018 Easton Beast X -5 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL18BX58). However, with time, I believe the reviews will accumulate and be pretty solid. Overall, I do not think that a composite barreled bat will have any more potential for performance when compared to this bat.

Does this bat have the rotating handle? Or is that a different bat series. I personally don't like the twisting barrel. And do end loaded bats have more pop than balanced bats? I'm a stronger kid for my age and size and am strongly considering the weight distribution.

This bat does not having the rotating handle technology. That was implemented in the Torq line of Easton bats. End loaded bats can provide more power due to the added weight in the barrel providing more mass at contact, at the cost of a heavier swing weight. They are suited to power hitters who can handle the added swing weight.

What is difference in 2016 Easton XL3 and 2016 Mako XL if both are -5 and same length?

Both the 2016 Easton XL3 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL16X35 and the 2016 Easton MAKO XL Senior League Baseball Bat: SL16MK5 are end-loaded models. The big difference between the two is the 2016 Easton MAKO XL Senior League Baseball Bat: SL16MK5 will be an all composite model with a connection point, allowing this bat to reduce vibration more so on off-centered hits, while the 2016 Easton XL3 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL16X35 is a one-piece all alloy bat.

If you have experience swinging end loaded bats, or are a stronger player that wouldn't have trouble with the added swing weight, the 2016 Easton XL3 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL16X35 would be a great bat. If you feel like this end loaded bat would be a good option for you, I would suggest the 31" 26 oz. size.

What does it mean to be -5, or -6, or -7?

Those number represent the length to weight ratio which is a way of measuring the bats. You take the length of the bat and subtract that number and that gives you the weight of the bat. The 2016 Easton XL3 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL16X35 is a -5 so if it is a 30" bat, then it would be a 25 oz.

My kid is a 7th grader that is 5'7" and weighs 110 lbs. Do you recommend this bat in -5 for him (he has a 32"/24 oz right now)?

Based upon your player's height and weight, I would make a general recommendation of getting this 2016 Easton XL3 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL16X35) in the same 32" length (as his current bat), as long as he can handle the subsequent 27 oz weight (and the end-loaded swing weight). As a 7th grader, I think that moving to a -5 bat is smart so that you can prepare to use the BBCOR (-3) bats that are required in high school.

My son is 11 yo and pretty strong for his age. He's 4'9 and weighs 90 lbs. He used a 28 in Louisville Slugger Assault last year and loved it. We know he needs to move up in size, however would like to know your recommendations. Looking for a comparable alternative to the assault?

Based upon your player's height and weight, we would recommend going with a 30" model of Youth Big Barrel/Senior league bat. This 2016 Easton XL3 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL16X35) will be a single-piece, all-alloy bat like the Assault; but be end-loaded in its swing weight (the Assault was balanced). As well, this specific XL3 model has a -5 length-to-weight ratio. For an 11 year old player I would be more likely recommend a bat that has a -8 length-to-weight ratio like the SL16X38 model.

How does the 2016 Easton XL3 differ from the 2015 XL3? Paint job only? Material difference?

The 2016 Easton XL3 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL16X35 is going to feature an extra-long barrel design that expands the hitting zone and HYPERSKIN Grip while the 2015 Easton XL3 will not. You are correct in saying the cosmetics are different but they will feature the same Hyperlite Matrix Alloy that is said to create an expanded sweet spot and greater durability.
