DeMarini CF  -8 USSSA Baseball Bat: WTDXC8Z20
Find that summer stroke with this updated, two-piece DeMarini baseball bat. This USSSA-approved bat honors the standing tradition of quality and toughness that DeMarini has consistently offered, but has been re-engineered for the new season. This bat is perfect for that all-around player, interested in boosting their offensive numbers.

Bat Benefits
Give your young hitter a chance to catch up to blisteringly hot screamers off the mound with this -8 drop weight DeMarini baseball bat. However, the increased bat speed will not sacrifice the power numbers. This bat comes with the version of DeMarini's Paraflex Plus Composite baseball bat barrel, which keeps the sweet spot fat and delivers consistent pop and accuracy on contact. The 3-Fusion Connection technology in the bat handle keeps players' hands warm and comfortable. This ensures that the energy transfer from a four-seam heater finds a home in the barrel of the bat, not in the slugger's hands. While this two-piece bat offers the flexibility and comfort for a utility hitter, it does not compromise on power. The new ReACTION end cap sustains and reinforces the rigidness in the barrel, giving extra oomph on any power stroke in the zone. This end cap is re-engineered with some of the toughest and strongest materials on the market today.

Warranty
Enjoy the generous one year warranty offered on all DeMarini non-wood bats. Get your hands on your own today and enjoy fast, free shipping from JustBats.com.

Amazing bat Troy Brainard Parent

Pros: Bought this for my smaller 12 year old for his 13U year. He loves it. The swing is balanced he noted just like his drop 10. But he has more power with this bat and he is able to turn on the ball and get it to left field with faster pitchers. He noted it feels like butter when he hits it.

Cons: None at this time.

Just to Fragile! Carter Parent

Pros: The bat is hot right out of the wrapper. My son is 11 and playing 13U ball and he is not a power hitter, but I could tell a big difference in how hard the ball flew off this bat, but not sure its worth the $$.

Cons: We recieved our CF August 24th and September 7th, during our second tournament the back displayed a huge crack in it. My son is small and is not a power hitter, but the bat still defected on him. Marucci will replace the bat, but who wants to spend the time to get all the documents printed, bat shipped, wait a couple of weeks for a new one, and worry about it happening again? We also had some thing happen with the 2019 CAT Composite.

Excellent Pop Erik Nealson Coach

Pros: This bat allows youngsters hitting to really have fun. Excellent sweet spot with incredible pop!

Cons: The fun your hitter enjoys very well may come at the expense of a good pitcher (sorry pitchers)!

Good Bat DINGERDADDY Coach

Pros: This bat hits dingers only for the people who are in the fourth hole can hit with this bat. It makes fab bats look trash. No kidding this bat will show you some real improvement.

Cons: Kinda expensive but it’s worth it and it’s demarini not easton.

Cracks Benjamin Yeggy Coach

Pros: looks good.

Cons: My son and 2 of his teammates all have this bat. All three bats cracked within 1 month of each other. It seems for price of this bat it should last longer and should not crack so easy. Very frustrating.

11 Year Old Chuck Parent

Pros: So far so good. This is for my 11 Year Old Travel Ball player. We got the 31" 23 oz for him. He is almost 5'8 and 135 lbs. Says it feels light and the ball jumps off the bat. Only had it a couple weeks so will report back later.

Cons: Nothing so far

He loves it. Bob M Parent

Pros: Seems hot and, so far, no durability issue. He loved the Louisville Prime which is not durable at all but on hittrax seems as hot, if not a little hotter, than this bat. I sent a broke in half Louisville back and told him we have to try something else for more durability. He's had 3 home runs in 3 games over 300 foot fence since he got this bat. The sound is nice.

Cons: None yet.

We tried something new and it did not go well Andy Parent

Pros: Incredible bat right out of the wrapper. His first swing was a bomb. Says it feels very balanced. Lots of pop and the ball flies off of this bat.

Cons: We have always been Marucci people but decided to take a chance and try something new. Just like most people say, this bat only lasted 2 tournaments. Maybe 6 games total and well under 300 swings. I was told it would take that many swings just to "break it in". My son loved this bat, but like many things, it was too good to be true. I went with the -8 because people said the -10 would break too easily. I just completed the warranty claim online so we will see how their customer service responds.

Best bat there is Jeremiah Parent

Pros: My small 12 year old son has been swinging a -10 CF Zen for 2 years now and we won’t switch back to any of the other bats he has went through. He got the -8 after his last -10 CF Zen broke at 11 months. He has broke all his previous -10 CF Zen but he hits with it year round. The -8 is much more solid than the -10 and the ball flies off it. He loves it so far.

Cons: Durability is always an issue with these but well worth it for the balance and pop

Buy 2 if you can John Smith Parent

Pros: My 12 year old son loves the pop off this bat. Possibly the hottest bat he’s ever used. He always hit for power but now he’s hitting 260-280ft dingers on a regular basis.

Cons: You only get about 250 hits out of it before it cracks. If you are in a position to purchase 2 of them, you should definitely consider it. Use the first until it cracks, use the second while your waiting for the replacement to come in, repeat until the season is over.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the DeMarini CF -8 USSSA Baseball Bat: WTDXC8Z20? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

What is the main differences from the 2019 DeMarini CF Zen -8 USSSA Baseball Bat to the 2020 DeMarini CF Zen -8 USSSA Baseball Bat? And, why does the 2020 not show a tapered handle? Brad Smith
The 2020 DeMarini CF ZEN -8 USSSA Baseball Bat: WTDXC8Z20 features a new ReACTION end cap that increases barrel performance without sacrificing swing speed. As far as I can tell, the handles are the same, the 2020 just appears to have thicker tape.
Tori
Does this bat have a warranty? And if so how long? Will I be able to get a new one with you guys? Danny
The DeMarini CF ZEN -8 USSSA Baseball Bat: WTDXC8Z20 features a 12 month warranty from the date of purchase with DeMarini directly. If the bat were to break within that warranty time frame, one could set up a claims number with DeMarini so they could send the bat back to DeMarini for replacement.
Cameron
We've had DeMarini Zen's in the past and, although great, they've broken very easily, 5 in two years. Do you know if DeMarini has done anything to ensure the new Zen is a little more durable? Tim Kirsch
When looking at the DeMarini Zen's over the past 5 model years, these bats have routinely been praised with regards to performance. We would expect the same to hold true with the new DeMarini CF ZEN -8 USSSA Baseball Bat: WTDXC8Z20. On the flip side, the durability has been mostly lacking. This is unfortunately the byproduct when trying to make a bat as high performing as the Zen; there is typically a trade-off. To ensure this Zen holds up for the player, we would recommend limiting the bat to game use only. If a player can do that then we would expect they would get the bat to last longer before having to make a warranty claim. To close, there is nothing, as of today, that would point to these bats being more durable than previous years models.
Cameron
What is the break-in time for this bat? DJ
It is suggested that the DeMarini CF -8 USSSA Baseball Bat: WTDXC8Z20 sees about 200 swings off a tee, rotating the bat a 1/4" turn every ten swings. Then move to an additional 100 swings with soft toss and 80% of power. These steps should be completed before the bat sees live pitching.
Daveron
What is the difference between this bat and the 2020 zen bat?? Darrell Loy
This DeMarini CF -8 USSSA Baseball Bat (WTDXC8Z20) will be the same as the 2020 CF "Zen" bat listed on other sites. On our site, we just did not list "Zen" in the name of the bat.
Ben
Is the -8 any more durable than the -10 or are they about the same? David
If your player is comfortable swinging a -8 2020 DeMarini CF -8 USSSA Baseball Bat (WTDXC8Z20) it will be more durable than the -10.
Patrick
What is the difference between the Cf Zen and the CF Black ? Is there a 2020 CF Black -8 USSSA? Dale
These models are identical the only difference is the cosmetics. The one we have available at -8 is the CF -8 USSSA Baseball Bat: WTDXC8Z20
Jack
Is there a break in period for this drop 8 bat? Is there a certain weather temperature that the bat should not be used in? Does it come with lizard skin grip? G S
The DeMarini CF -8 USSSA Baseball Bat: WTDXC8Z20 is a composite bat, so we do recommend some break in even though most composites claim to be hot of the wrapper. Normally, 100-150 hits off a tee or soft toss starting at 50% power rotating the barrel 1/4'' with every swing will do the trick to break it in. We don't typically recommend using composite bats below 50 degrees as the colder temps actually make the ball harder which can cause composites to crack. The CF does not come with Lizard Skin, but you can add it.
Tori
Is this bat a zen bat? I don’t see that anywhere in the description. Michelle Zamora
Yes, this is a continuation of the CF Zen. DeMarini just dropped "Zen" from the name.
Kyle
Does this bat have a break in period? Andrew
The break in for the 2020 DeMarini CF -8 USSSA Baseball Bat (WTDXC8Z20) is typically 100-150 hits.
Bri
Does this bat come in just 2 3/4 or can I get it in 2 5/8? Travis
The DeMarini CF -8 USSSA Baseball Bat: WTDXC8Z20 is only made with a 2 3/4" barrel diameter.
Cameron
Does it come in 2 5/8" barrel, 31 inch drop 8? Chris holiday

About the Brand

In 1992, DeMarini Sports had something to celebrate. The three-year-old company had climbed a rung on the proverbial ladder of success, moving its world headquarters from a dirt-floored barn to a slightly larger metal shack. "It was a big move for us," recalled Ray DeMarini from the batting cage of DeMarini Sport’s present-day Bat Industrial Complex. "The new shop was larger, more storm resistant, and -best of all- it had a heater."

In the early days, DeMarini Sports hardly made a blip on the radar screen of softball. With no retailers and virtually no advertising budget, DeMarini grew steadily by selling high-performance bats directly to customers. While established companies made "juiced" bats for the pros and ordinary bats for the public, DeMarini focused on making one line of high-performance bats for pros and amateurs alike. This approach, combined with a passion for the sport, led to the greatest innovation in softball history - the world’s first multi-wall bat: the DeMarini Doublewall.

Released in 1993, the DeMarini Doublewall was the world’s first multi-wall bat. Like a modern golf driver or oversized tennis racket, the Doublewall had a giant "sweetspot," which allowed average players to hit like pros. DeMarini’s sales exploded, and before long opposing bat manufacturers to notice. DeMarini - a homegrown company led by a softball fanatic - had shaken the establishment silly.

To understand the rise of the DeMarini Dynasty, you need to know Ray DeMarini. A cult hero among avid players, Ray DeMarini emerged on the professional softball scene at the age of 40, a veritable geriatric among younger players. With a scientific approach to training, a batting speed of 96 miles-per-hour and a bombastic attitude, DeMarini fast earned a reputation as a savage competitor.

In June of 1987, ESPN launched a nationwide search for a hardcore player to advise on a series of instructional softball videos. When approached by producer Erich Lytle, the biggest boys in softball repeatedly spoke of a five-foot-seven softball giant—Ray DeMarini. DeMarini had mastered reflex hitting, a technique that drops the ball squarely between the infield and outfield. Impressed with DeMarini's knowledge and scientific approach to training, Lytle not only hired Ray as an advisor—he hired him as the host. Together, they produced Ray DeMarini's Reflex Hitting System, ESPN's most successful home video to date.

Having garnered national recognition through ESPN, Ray turned his efforts toward designing a high-performance bat for the masses. To accomplish this, he needed an engineer. "Not just an engineer," he said, "but a boot-strapping rocket scientist who could build an empire with pocket change." Ray's call was answered by Mike Eggiman. Having grown up on a farm, Eggiman was adept at making the most of a situation. Case in point: the company's first piece of automated bat-making equipment had the heart of an abandoned washing machine.

With Eggiman as Chief Engineer, DeMarini Sports delivered a series of industry firsts: the first multi-wall bat (Doublewall Distance), the first high-performance bat for massive players (Fatboy) and the first high-performance youth bat (Black Coyote).

In 2000, DeMarini joined forces with Wilson Sporting Goods to develop the next generation of hitting technology. Ray believed it was a perfect fit, as both companies shared a vision of developing game-enhancing equipment for avid players. What’s more, the companies had complimentary products: Wilson was the leader in gloves, balls and protective gear, while DeMarini made the world’s finest bats. According to Chris Considine, Vice President/General Manager of Wilson Sporting Goods: "The thing that struck me most about DeMarini was their passion for sports and their true competitiveness.

Within a year, DeMarini unveiled the industry’s first concept bat, the $35,000 F1. Secured under lock and key at the DeMarini Bat Industrial Complex in Hillsboro, Oregon, the F1 served as a technological storehouse for future products, including DeMarini’s landmark Half & Half system.

In December 2001, 12 years after the genesis of DeMarini Sports, Ray DeMarini died of cancer in his Northwest Portland home. He was 55. The next summer, the Portland Metro Softball Association paid homage to the “King of Softball” with the dedication of Ray DeMarini Field. Formerly known as Delta #1, the field was DeMarini’s favorite place to test bats during the early days of business. Ray DeMarini—bat maker and player extraordinaire—was remembered for his high-performance softball bats and unwavering encouragement of everyday players. Today, a 40-foot sign announcing RAY DEMARINI FIELD graces the outfield, and an interpretive display chronicling Ray’s life greets players as they register for games.

More "Insane Dedication to Performance" is in store for tomorrow.
