Pros: My level of play is a high level wood bat only Semi-Pro League. This bat is the best I have ever used. I have been using a Marucci Chase Utley model and own a Marucci Pujols bat as well. The Mike Trout Old Hickory has more pop than both and is by far the most balanced bat I have ever used. The ball jumps off the bat and has a huge sweet spot.

Cons: None!

Among the best wood bats on the market Eric player

Pros: This bat has an excellent feel to it. The C243 cut traditionally has a power hitter's end load and it feels particularly good on this bat. The quality of the bat feels professional grade and the durability seems to prove the quality true. It has outstanding pop as the ball jumps off the sweet spot. When you square a fastball with this bat, you get that feeling you just did damage. As a fan of Marucci, Sam Bat and Louisville Slugger, I was more than pleasantly surprised to see Old Hickory produce such a quality product. If you understand the difference between quality wood bats and cheap ones, you already understand that these bats cost a decent chunk of change. You get what you pay for here. It's clear to me why this brand is becoming popular among many professional hitters. I'll be purchasing another soon.

Cons: If you can't hit with this bat, it's not the bat, it's you.

Pros: I got this bat straight from Old Hickory for Christmas. I have used both the Marrucci Utley and Pujols models but find that they broke fairly quickly. This bat however, seems to be durable and has great feel. Extremely well balanced.

Cons: Can't find a single con. If you can't hit well with this than you can't hit.

GOOD BAT Ryan Valintine player

Pros: If you know how to hit with a strong good swing, then this bat is the best I've had it for 2 YEARS and I never broke. And if you know me my average of hitting is 300-250 feet and I'm a hard hitter. But it never broke and the Mike Trout model is great for a strong person it's a little heavy for me on the barrel BUT STILL 10/10.Its only heavy with no batting gloves.

Cons: Just like I said in the pros it a little heavy but if you have batting gloves it's not a problem.

Cons: anyone who hits primarly with wood knows some bats miss the mark. i unfortunatley recieved a soft bat. no pop what so ever. i was dissapointed, but it happens. end of the bat chipped off from tossing it after a single (explains the durability rating). this bat peaked my intrest, tried it, and wasnt for me at the end of the day. definitley sticking prefer marucci, dinger, or victus.

Better results Coach John Coach

Pros: My son started swinging wooden bat at Perfect Game tournament and showcases about 9 months ago. He has a Marucci Pujois model. He hit ok on a scale of 1-10 he was a 5. With his BBCOR bat he was a high 8. He had the Old Hickory bat on display because we are from CA and likes Trout. 2 months ago being a little frustrated with hitting wood he pulled the bat down and gave it a try. He was still smashing with his BBCOR bat. Low and behold he started smashing with the Old Hickory. Same size as the Marucci 33' about 20ft-30ft longer more pop off the bat. Granted there are kids on are team who use the Marucci and smash. He likes the bat hit a HR in AZ this last weekend with it. I didn't think there was much of a difference with maple wood bats but now I believe there is.

Cons: Stings on miss hit added a bat grip helped out a lot

Ben
What bat is more balanced for a contact hitter? The Old Hickory MT27M or the Old Hickory R58?
tyboromeo
The more balanced bat between this Old Hickory Bat Co. Mike Trout Maple Wood Baseball Bat (MT27M Adult) and the R58 model will be the R58 model. This MT27M Adult is built to be an end-loaded bat.

I am 14 years old and I'm more of a contact hitter than a power hitter. Would you recommend this bat for me?
birdman21
Based upon your age, we would make a general recommendation of a 32" model of wood baseball bat. This Old Hickory Bat Co. Mike Trout Maple Wood Baseball Bat (MT27M Adult) will actually come with more of an end-loaded swing weight. For you I might recommend more of a balanced swinging bat. The Old Hickory you might consider is Old Hickory Bat Co. Custom Pro Ash Wood Baseball Bat (KG1 Adult).
Ben
I heard that the MT27M is pretty close to a 243. How accurate is that?
Harrison
That is very accurate. The Old Hickory Bat Co. Mike Trout Maple Wood Baseball Bat: MT27M Adult is cut similar to a 243 turn model. It features a 2 1/2 inch barrel diameter and a thin 29/32 inch handle with a traditional knob.
John P.
Which bat has the most pop? This Hickory model, Buster Posey Marucci, or Rizzo Marucci? Still undecided.
Lapara809
There is not one bat out there that will provide more power than another. The Old Hickory Bat Co. Mike Trout Maple Wood Baseball Bat: MT27M Adult will have similar pop as the two Marucci models (Posey and Rizzo) that were mentioned.
Cameron
What type of wood would you prefer? Any specific brand?
Aaron
The type of wood really depends what your are looking for. Wood bats made of birch and ash are going to be lighter in weight and more flexible. Maple is the most popular wood bat material due to it's strength and durability, but it tends to be a bit more heavy. As far as favorite brands go, Old Hickory and the Old Hickory Bat Co. Mike Trout Maple Wood Baseball Bat (MT27M Adult) would be a very good place to start.
Jake
Does this bat have a warranty? Can you return it after use?
Pat
Unfortunately, the Old Hickory Bat Co. Mike Trout Maple Wood Baseball Bat: MT27M Adult does not have a warranty. It does not feature a trial period, so you would be unable to use it an return it.
Jason
I'm a 4 or 5 hole hitter and hit for power. Would you recommend this bat or the Marucci AP5?
Magic
Both this Old Hickory Bat Co. Mike Trout Maple Wood Baseball Bat (MT27M Adult) and the Marucci AP5 will feature decent barrel lengths (which are usually preferred by power hitters). However, if you are wanting more of an end-loaded swing weight on your bat, I would recommend this MT27M bat over the Marucci AP5.
Ben
I am 140 pounds 5'10" and can give the ball a ride. I am 15 and in between a contact and power hitter. I don't like too much of an end loaded bat but like it when the bat isn't too heavy. How end loaded is this bat?
Tommy Pru
The turning model on this Old Hickory Bat Co. Mike Trout Maple Wood Baseball Bat (MT27M Adult) will be similar to the 243 baseball bat turning model that produces an end-loaded bat. I would say that any player that uses this model of bat will sense at least a slightly end-loaded swing weight.
Sean
I am 156 pounds 6'1" and 14 years old. What size wood bat should I get?
chandler baker
Based on your height and weight we would recommend a 33" Old Hickory Bat Co. Mike Trout Maple Wood Baseball Bat (MT27M) Adult. If you felt like that might be too heavy you could definitely also go with a 32".
Carter
I am 156 pounds 6'1" and 14 years old. What size wood bat should I get?
chandler baker
Based on your height and weight, we would recommend getting the Old Hickory Bat Co. Mike Trout Maple Wood Baseball Bat: MT27M Adult in a 32 inch model. Typically a 33 inch bat would be best to get but when factoring age it may be wiser to go with a 32 inch bat for now. If wanting to get 33 inch then choking up some would be beneficial.
Cameron
My son is 5'9" and weighs 180 lbs. I was just wondering if the 33" bat would be too heavy for him?
Jeremy
Based on his height and weight, we suggest a 33" model in the Old Hickory Bat Co. Mike Trout Maple Wood Baseball Bat: MT27M Adult.
Jason

I see several suggestions for kids under 6' to use a 33" bat. My son is 6'4" and swings a 33', should his be bigger?
jeff
There is not necessarily a rule. We have a sizing chart but ultimately it is what the player feels comfortable with. At 6'4" our sizing chart would put him in a 34" but if he feels comfortable with a 33" that is fine.
