We have not heard any news that the Easton Ghost Double Barrel -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat (FP18GH10) being legal in USSSA. We have not heard of the bat being changed in any way either. The DeMarini CFX -11 Fastpitch Softball Bat (WTDXCFS) is a great option to follow up the DeMarini Hope as well.

Triple Crown tournaments use ASA, USSSA, AFA, or other governing body rules according to local preference, so you would need to check with your specific tournaments to see what rules they go by. We do not particularly recommend using any bat at temperatures below 55 degrees. When the temperature sinks below 55 degrees, the ball becomes denser and has the ability to damage the barrel walls of the bat. If a player is participating in a practice that is being held in conditions with a temperature below 55 degrees, we would recommend using an older model of bat. If a game is being held in conditions below 55 degrees we would recommend taking game-day BP with a non-game model bat and then only using the Easton Ghost Double Barrel -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat (FP18GH10) in the actual game.

As for the -11 version, Easton will release this towards the end of April. Most likely, it will be the same specs as the -10.

Apologies for any inconvenience, but we do list all the certifications under the "Bat Features" section, as well as a boded line about this model not being approved for NSA or USSSA play. As far as we are aware, the reason it is not USSSA certified is due to the double barrel design and the differences between USSSA's testing methods and the methods used for other certifications. Easton will be releasing this model in a USSSA approved version sometime this summer.

With the Easton Ghost Double Barrel -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat: FP18GH10, like all other bats, if you swing a heavier bat (with the same bat speed) you will receive better performance off the bat. Therefore, the -9 would be able to provide more "pop" under those circumstances. However, if you are not able to handle the heavier weight it can certainly be more of a detriment than a benefit.

1.20 and 1.21 are BPF (Bat Performance Factor) ratings. The higher the number, the more pop the bat will have. Certain leagues and certifications require a certain BPF rating or lower for the bat to be legal for play. Senior Softball allows 1.21 BPF bats, while USSSA only allows 1.20 BPF bats. Because of this, you cannot use a Senior Softball bat for USSSA play.

I swing this bat and was wondering if there had been reports on whitish, circular spots on the bat. I had a tournament in Virginia and this bat was not legal and we were told to put it in our cars for the weekend, so I'm afraid the paint had melted off or if it is another issue. I personally have not heard complaints of circular, white spots on the bat, and I don't believe any other of our customer service reps have either. The cracks that you mention sound like cracks in the paint, which is fairly common with composite bats. As the bats get broken in the fiber material loosens up, which loosens/cracks the paint as well. Oftentimes this can't really be avoided, and is more just an unfortunate feature with composite bats as they accumulate use. Generally this is not covered under the manufacturer's warranty since it causes no performance issue.
