Description
Bombs away! DeMarini USSSA big barrel bats blast baseballs like rockets on ropes. The CF Zen series is back and better than before. As a fan favorite season after season, DeMarini knew they had to step up their game and take their design and innovation to new levels. As a result, the new Paraflex Plus composite was created. With a perfect amount of temperature and time that goes into each model, these baseball bats have the most consistent and powerful barrel in the game today. On the other end, DeMarini's newly developed X-Lite knob fits seamlessly into any players bottom hand while eliminating the worry of negative feedback that stings like no other. After a successful launch last year, let's not forget about the tried-and-true 3Fusion system made up of a connection piece and end cap that maximizes the sweet spot, improves bat control, and provides additional oomph at the plate. DeMarini: Rise Up!
This DeMarini CF Zen Senior League Baseball Bat (WTDXCBZ) features a huge 2 3/4-inch barrel diameter, a popular drop 10 length to weight ratio, and the USSSA 1.15 BPF thumbprint stamp. Pros: Hottest bat we have had out of wrapper, large sweet spot, looking forward to how it holds up
Cons: No cons
No durability issues here Anonymous Baseball Dad Parent
Pros: My son has used this bat through Fall and Spring ball (still have a month left of tournaments)and maybe were lucky because we’ve had no durability issues with this Zen or his older now outgrown CF8. He only uses this bat in games and live arm practice...no heavy balls or machine balls and nobody borrows it. He is a strong 3-hole hitter (no homers yet but lots of warning tracks) that is considered one of the best hitters in the area and he hits the Zen noticeably better than his Cat 7. Nothing against Marucci because I see a lot of kids crushing with Cats and F5s and we will probably buy a Cat 8 someday for practice and cold weather play. But when he outgrows the 28” Zen we will get a 29” Zen to replace it as his game bat.
Cons: Price is ridiculous like many of the high-performing bats.
Great Bat Dan Coach
Pros: Have now had this bat for all of last fall and now early spring. We broke it in doing tee and soft toss. Bat is very hot and we have not had any durability issues. My son really likes this bat.
Cons: None so far
Good team bat alex jackson Coach
Pros: overall good bat with great pop. We use as a team bat, and only used it long enough to break it in...then it swapped to a game bat only. There is a ton of pop with the CF Zen, and the kids love the feel of the bat. Great weight distribution as well.
Cons: scratches easily, but hey...it's a bat, so I can deal with scratches.
Easy break Chris Parent
Pros: None
Cons: The bat will break in a very short time and Demarini will not stand behind it but once. Poor product to cost so much
Broken Anthony Parent
Pros: Great pop! My son loved the bat!
Cons: First bat used 3 tournaments and cracked! Sent the bat back and got the one time replacement. Three tournents and broke! Six tournaments and out $350!
Good bat but doesn't last Darrin Coach
Pros: Great pop - well balanced. My son's favorite bat to date.
Cons: Initial bat cracked within 6 months - receive a replacement 2 months later because they were back-ordered. Replacement bat broke 1 month after warranty expired. Not worth the $$$ for all the issues. Unfortunately moving on to a different brand.
Broke Beth Stone Parent
Pros: Hot, lots of pop
Cons: Bat broke completely off from the handle.
Awful Lee Zumbro Coach
Pros: Great pop!
Cons: The black version of this bat totally cracked and outer coating shreds. Sent it back, Demarini sent me the new model. Did the exact same thing within the same season. They arent worth 100 much less 350.
Breaks Anonymous Player
Pros: Great pop and no stingers
Cons: I’ve had 2 bats in 3 years and they both broke in half
Cracked in less than 30 days Matt Parent
Pros: Quick shipping
Cons: Already shipped it back for replacement. My fresh 11 year old has it for under a month.
Not working Fabian Coach
Pros: On the rare time that the boys Barrel the ball up it comes off okay.
Cons: Our team has some sluggers that can’t seem to barrel up this bat consistently. We use -10, -8 and the -5 versions. All with the same results. Pop ups and grounders. All the boys go back to their old bats and hit line drives. ???????.
Pop Ryan Parent
Pros: Good bat
Cons: Worried about durability
Great Bat Larry Player
Pros: Great bat amazing pop there is no vibration at all and I’ve already hit 2 home runs with it
Cons: Price
Great bat but Luek Player
Pros: For a while this bat was amazing and I hit a lot of homers wit it
Cons: But it cracked after a while and is pretty bad. If you wants a bat for a little but this one for sure but if you want a long term one don’t do this one
Don’t waste your money!!! BJ Player
Pros: Decent pop until it breaks
Cons: 3 kids on my 11u team had this bat break in less then a season. 2 kids on our 12u team and 2 on our 14u team. My bat broke in just over a year so no warranty.
Best Bat out There but Fragile C Morgan Parent
Pros: Awesome pop the ball flies off the bat.
Cons: Quickly Cracks. Our first one started cracking after a month and was unusable shortly after. Warranty process works well. Second bat was used for game only.
DONT USE AT BATTING PRACTICE Ashley Bennett Coach
Pros: Great feel and pop. I coach a 10U travel Baseball team. Our team has hit the most homeruns with this bat. This bat is hot out the box and bat of choice on my team
Cons: Our team has cracked 3 of these bats since March, but we have learned if you use them in game only they last a lot longer. I still recommend the bat if you want some good pop, but I wished they did last longer
Very hard working disappointed dad Ernest Jones Parent
Pros: A very balanced bat with great pop
Cons: Did everything demarini suggested to help prolong the life of the bat. After only using it for games, the bat cracked the 1st week of use. Thank Goodness for the 1 year warranty demarini offers....NOT! Called customer service to redeem my warranty. After a week, I received the wrong replacement bat. Returned that bat. Another week and half later, I finally received the correct bat. 2nd at bat in my sons first game, a loud pop! Another busted demarini bat! Just our luck, 7 months left on a 1 year, 1 replacement bat warranty and I’m down 350 bucks. Sorry son, I know you love your demarini bat but dad works to hard for his money. I’m Done with demarini!
Great Pop, durability is the worst I've seen. Luke Coach
Pros: Pop, feel. Bat had great pop from the moment it was open, until it completely broke.
Cons: Barrel is completely shredded. It was used with only good baseballs, but about 8 months after it was purchased, it's trash. I've never seen a bat break apart like this one. The paint appeared cracked initially. But with another 2 weeks of use after that, it looks like someone hit it with a jackhammer right on the barrel. Don't lose your receipt like I did if you purchase this bat, you'll get no help!
Hot bat Greg Parent
Pros: Ball jumps off bat
Cons: Durability
Bad experience Duniesky Vasallo Parent
Pros: Good pop
Cons: The bat was broken after 100 pitch’s
SERIOUS POP Mike Parent
Pros: This bat has insane pop. Balls literally fly off this bat. My son, who is 11 years old, just told me today that he can't stop thinking about hitting with his Zen. On the downside, the bat does have some serious durability issues. In my opinion... and my son's, the positives GREATLY outweigh the negatives.
Cons: Durability. The bat cracks easily.
Solid purchase Cody Williams Coach
Pros: Let me first say I got this for $100 off at a tournament with no tax so it was hard to pass on it. My 11 yr old son is 72 pounds and a scrappy middle infielder and catcher. Normally swings a Marucci Cat series. He moved up from his 27/17 to 29/19 CF and it was hot out of the wrapper. Will continue to let him hit with it in practice up to 150-200 swings and then it will be a game only bat. Never have been a fan of the two piece composites but I saw 15-20 ft of batted ball distance added and a noticeable difference in exit velo.
Cons: None so far just hope it holds up . Thats why i gave the durability a 4 star rating.
Very expensive short life Mack Cullins Coach
Pros: After the break in period the ball jumps off this bat.
Cons: I bought it for our 11U team. Cost $350.00 plus tax. We broke it in like instructed. Used it sparingly in practice. It lasted two tournaments (30 days) before it cracked. Not worth one tenth of what it cost because you can't get any use out of it.
Eric Coach
Pros: 11 year old select team bought 6 of these bats and every one of them broke within 1 month. Complete waste of money.
Cons: 11 year old select team bought 6 of these bats and every one of them broke within 1 month. Complete waste of money.
Save the shipping box J Pipkins Coach
Pros: Feels great. Great pop. Very little vibration.
Cons: It will not last so you'd better save the box that it was shipped in and don't take the hologram sticker off. Our 11uAAA team has 3 of these, of different sizes, and all 3 are broken. Two broken barrels and one where the handle broke away from the barrel.
On my 3rd replacement Griff Burk Parent
Pros: Before the bat has cracked for the third time. The bat has great pop and is game ready right out of the wrapper.
Cons: My son has now broken 3. He is the smallest kid on the team, he is 11 playing up in 12U travel. He only uses in games and off the tee in the driveway with regular baseballs. We live in the south so the weather has not been a factor based on their recommendations on temperatures. DeMarini will not replace his bat and he has been throug 3 in less then a year. That’s crazy when you pay that much for a youth bat.
Best so far MG Parent
Pros: Best USSSA bat purchased so far for my 9U son. Great pop and consistently hits the ball more solid than prior bats (Cat 7 and 8). I was concerned about prior reviews showing the weight was understated but no issues with that so far. My son is 65 lbs and swinging the 28/18 and has shown noticeable improvement in confidence in using this bat. Great all around.
Cons: None so far
Zen review Jeff Turnbull Coach
Pros: Best bat on the market
Cons: Breaks too easy. Have replaced 28 and 29 twice already. Scared to use it except in the game
Amazing Bat, Great Design Niko Watson Player
Pros: This bat is amazing, has great amazing pop. The great thing about it is that all the weight is on the barrel, and none on the handle. Amazing design very easy to swing, recommended to everyone. On my team everyone wants to use it because it is just the best on the team.
Cons: the cap on the handle that indicates the weight and length pops out very easy
Good bat until it busted tonight in the cage. Edward Parent
Pros: My son really likes the bat but it busted tonight in the batting cage.
Cons: Have not had it very long and it busted in the middle of the barrel. Never even hit with in a game yet. I’m hoping they will refund or at least replace. I’ve never had to return one.
Short term bat. Jason Parent
Pros: Amazing pop even with it being cracked, my son still hit 9 over the fence. 9 u baseball using the 30/20 bat. My son loves this bat and will be hard to find a better bat, but the next bat will be cheaper and probably last longer.
Cons: It cracked at 3 months and the 4th it shattered with a ball size hole. Still hit 3 over the fence with cracks all over the sweet spot and then just blew up into pieces. Way to expensive for a bat that will not last a season .
Excellent Charly Coach
Pros: Bat grip
Cons: N/A
So-Far-So-Good Parent Parent
Pros: Great Pop Little to no vibration Great Feel
Cons: No cons so far
Great bat Me Player
Pros: Awesome pop I hit one on a line straight to the 275 foot fence. Has great feel hit one 2 inches from the connection piece and it did not sting at all.
Cons: Durability, had it for 6 months and it is having less pop but the pop is still great.
Disappointed Chuck Clemmons Coach
Pros: This bat had a lot of pop! My 11 yr. old son really liked this bat.
Cons: We played 3 tournaments and it broke in half. Not happy with the bat.
Not as hot as 17 or the 2018 model.. Bring Parent
Pros: Good bat..
Cons: We had two crack within two months out of 5
Poor Quality Jimmie Parent
Pros: Feel and pop
Cons: 8 year old broke the bat. The two piece bat is connected by 2 inch of the handle inserted into a plastic coupling. Very disappointed that a $350 is held together by plastic. I will not buy another Demarini product Cheap made!
Broken during fall season Jimmie Daugherty Parent
Pros: Son loves feel and pop
Cons: Bat broken where the 2 piece meets. Surprising there is a plastic insert that holds the bat together... I was shocked by this...$350 held together by plastic. completed the warrant tonight but I will not buy another demarini bat. poor quality
Amazing Pop! Quality is horrible... C. Morgan player
Pros: The bat is hot and is well balanced my son (10) loves it.
Cons: After 1 month it has already begun to crack significantly. I have submitted a warranty claim and I am waiting to hear back. Not just little cracks massive ones all over the sweet spot.
2019 zen awesome player
Pros: hot bat after break in period smooth swinging bat
Cons: none
Expensive (bat), great while it lasted Parent and coach coach
Pros: Son liked the feel, nice pop, ball comes off the bat nicely
Cons: NOT DURABLE AT ALL, a very expensive (bat). One inside pitch, son got the hands a little out, and hit off the plastic piece between barrel and handle, and broken. 11U so not like it was a 90 mph inside fastball either.
Just a matter of time. Tigers parent
Pros: Balanced bat. Descent pop. My experience not as good as CF-8 with durability about the same.
Cons: Shattered in layers the 2nd day. No problems exchanging. Had another a week later. So far this one is holding up. Just don't like not being able to take BP with it for fear it will break.
Father Lance parent
Pros: Great bat before it cracked. The ball flies off the bat with no vibration
Cons: The CF Zen is notorious for cracking and the 2019 is no exception. My son's bat cracked after 2 months of use. Not what I expect from a bat that cost $349. The 1 year warranty means nothing because Demarini said they would only replace the bat 1 time. They stamped "No Return" on the replacement bat. Every kid on my son's team that has a 2017-2019 CF Zen has had a cracked bat. Don't waste your money.
2019 CF Zen Anonymous parent
Pros: None, it only lasted 5 weeks
Cons: Only lasted 5 weeks
denarini 2019 cf zen money marc parent
Pros: nice pop
Cons: we have broken 3 already
Smoke and Mirrors Second Deck parent
Pros: You will smoke the ball with this bat...
Cons: just expect it to shatter like a mirror in the process. No durability what so ever at all. 5 kids on my sons team all had this bat. All of them broke. Some broke right in half. The hype is all great until your "No Return" bat breaks and then its $350 time all iver again!!!
Defective Bat Cooperstown Coach coach
Pros: Has great pop and good balance for the short time you get to use it
Cons: Bat is not durable, cracks very easily Grip is not good, easily fixed by regripping but worth mentioning. We bought this bat as a team bat for Cooperstown. We broke it in as DeMarini recommends on their website. Did not use in the cage, it was to be used strictly for games. After the 2nd game on Day 1 in Cooperstown, the outer shell started to bubble up and form creases. Then on the 3rd game on Day 2 the outer shell started chipping off where we could no longer use the bat. We played another team with the same exact bat on day 2 at Cooperstown. Their bat did the same exact thing and cracked during our game against them. We will be sending back to DeMarini for a warranty refund. I would recommend finding a bat that is more durable, as this one obviously has issues.
Lated 4 games then cracked! Father of J parent
Pros: Was a great bad before it cracked
Cons: This is our 3rd demarini bat. Each one has cracked! This last bat has a stamp of non-returnalble....I guess after the second return they no longer warranty there bats. We are considering another brand at this point. I would not recommend this bat at all.
Durability SUCKS Daddy E player
Pros: It has good pop for about a week
Cons: then after a week it cracks in 5 different spots and your bat is toast
mixed feelings eagles parent
Pros: Good pop. No vibration. easy swing. Popular among team.
Cons: Durability is poor. We have 2 of these bats on our team and both cracked within a month. These bats are not made to hold up with the older kids.
WE Shall See if it holds up WESHALLSEEE parent
Pros: Balanced ball seems to shoot off of it. only used in soft toss and tee work so far so we shall see if it holds up. hopefully at least get two seasons out of it. Cant wait to see it in game speed for a 9u 4'2 65 lb went with the 29/19 so he has a little room to grow into it. Little big for him now but by spring should be perfect.
Cons: The grip is just terrible it feels like it burns your hands after just trying to work the barrel in during break in. only used in soft toss and tee work so far.... grip is definitely gonna have to be changed
2019 zen 30 -10 Butch Burns coach
Pros: Pop, 11 years old, hit first HR with this bat
Cons: Broke in 6 weeks
Great Balance and Pop but breaks way too easy John L parent
Pros: One of the more lighter bats, very well balanced and hits great.
Cons: Breaks too easy. Son is 10, weights 55 lbs. and it broke in 2nd tournament (5 games) when hitting a baseball. Wasn't cold or bad balls, just broke, poorly mad bad
Great pop, balanced weight, doesn't last long Jeff coach
Pros: The kids hit noticeably better with these bats. We had a 29", 30", and 31" that were pretty evenly shared between a team of 12. Just three home runs last year over an entire summer. Already around 10 home runs now.
Cons: The 29" and 31" were severely damaged about 3 weeks into using them. The 30" gave in the week after. Just terrible durability. We have already replaced two of them and have had no issues so far. But to lose 3 of 3 bats in a month or less is pretty bad.
good bat, but not worth it mattingly23 parent
Pros: great pop, right out of wrapper
Cons: was a replacement for the 18' banned bat, which was already starting to crack after a month. this one completely busted after 3 weeks just not worth the hassle
bat will not last josh parent
Pros: bat has decent pop
Cons: bat broke within 3 months. bat came apart in 2 pieces. called demarini and they service rep said the bat is not meant for anything but game use and will not stand up up to using for batting practice and games. said to only use in games if you spend 350 plus it should last. my son has had a combat maxum for 2 years that has never broken. if they where still im business we would have never bought the zen. not to mention the bat weighs alot more than what is stated.
Good bat bat but durability needs work. Mason player
Pros: Good pop and general fell.
Cons: The durability needs a lot of work. It broke really quickly.
Great bat until it breaks Drak coach
Pros: Believe the hype. This bat has tons of pop. My kid was hitting great before but the ball really started to fly off the barrel when he got this bat.
Cons: Unfortunately this bad only lasted 12 games before it cracked in two places. What's worse is that it cracked the night before we leave for Omaha. This was not a team bat and wasn't used with weighted balls or cage balls. The bat started chipping after the first few at bats and I knew it was only a matter of time before it cracked. It's a great bat, but DeMarini HAS to do something about these durability issues. We'll wait for our replacement but I think next time I shell out $350 for a bat it won't be a DeMarini.
ABSOLUTE FIRESTICK!!!!! DAD parent
Pros: BALL JUMPS OFF THIS BAT! MUCH LIGHTER SWING WEIGHT THAN THE 2018 MODEL. LOOKS AND FEELS VERY NICE, MY 9YR OLD SON ABSOLUTELY LOVES IT, DIDN'T CARE SO MUCH FOR THE 2018 MODEL. DURABILITY GAVE IT A 4 STAR SINCE WE HAVEN'T HAD IT LONG ENOUGH TO KNOW HOW IT WILL HOLD UP. LOVE THE SOUND IT MAKES WHEN THE BALL IS HIT IT SOUNDS FILTHY!!! THIS BAT IS HOTTTTTT!!!!!
Cons: ALL HIS TEAMATES WANT TO SWING IT... LOL
CF ZEN 2019 ecat parent

Cons: breaks easy
same as the cf8 the guy that knows parent
Pros: this bat is the cf8 has the same feel same pop no vibration best bat money can buy my 10 u son is hitting home runs and bombs a must own for the seroius player
Cons: none
Do Not Buy. NVC Tim coach
Pros: Good Pop
Cons: brittle, poor quality.we have had 3 week old bats being broken by 11 year old players. so with their one-time return policy you will get through a handful of tournaments before you're out of luck and money and buying another bat out of pocket. this year alone we have had six Demarini composite bats all less than 4 months old break!
2019 CF Zen 30 20oz Bdizzle parent

great bat in the 2 3/4" space -10 9u/8u baseball dad parent
Pros: bat is almost identical to the 2018 model.has a good swing weight great pop and no vibration. Possibly the best 1.15 bat on the market overall.
Cons: price is a little high ,gets scuffed up easily .I have no real complaints at this point.
DeMarini Doesn't Care For You Benny's Dad parent
Pros: Nice Pop
Cons: Last year my CF Zen 2017 was banned after one week. I passed on the retooled and bought another expensive brand to finish out. 2017. Used my recall voucher on 4/19/18 for the 2019 Zen. Nice pop but cracked after the second tourney. Sent bat in for repair, cost $34 to ship back to Demarini regular UPS ground. The received it a week later on 5/7/18, processed the claim on the 5/8/2018 BUT it is not scheduled to deliver to me until the 16th! My 10yr old son already missed three tournaments without it, and now likely four tourneys without it (which is our next-to-last tourney of the year). In the meantime my teammate's 2018 Zen recall was sent in a week LATER than my claim and they already received their 2019 replacement, WITHOUT shipping charges! So did we get our $350 worth of this bat? Let's see, two Zen bats, one recalled, one cracked and only 3 total tourneys between them both. Um...no. Now we'll be stuck with a new bat that arrived near season's end and that my son will have o
Very bad bat grip Hayden player
Pros: It hits like a CF8 and feels like a CF8 the pop is unreal and the paint looks cool.
Cons: the bad grip is terrible it feels very slippery without batting gloves

About the Brand

In 1992, DeMarini Sports had something to celebrate. The three-year-old company had climbed a rung on the proverbial ladder of success, moving its world headquarters from a dirt-floored barn to a slightly larger metal shack. "It was a big move for us," recalled Ray DeMarini from the batting cage of DeMarini Sport’s present-day Bat Industrial Complex. "The new shop was larger, more storm resistant, and -best of all- it had a heater."
In the early days, DeMarini Sports hardly made a blip on the radar screen of softball. With no retailers and virtually no advertising budget, DeMarini grew steadily by selling high-performance bats directly to customers. While established companies made "juiced" bats for the pros and ordinary bats for the public, DeMarini focused on making one line of high-performance bats for pros and amateurs alike. This approach, combined with a passion for the sport, led to the greatest innovation in softball history - the world’s first multi-wall bat: the DeMarini Doublewall.
Released in 1993, the DeMarini Doublewall was the world’s first multi-wall bat. Like a modern golf driver or oversized tennis racket, the Doublewall had a giant "sweetspot," which allowed average players to hit like pros. DeMarini’s sales exploded, and before long opposing bat manufacturers to notice. DeMarini - a homegrown company led by a softball fanatic - had shaken the establishment silly.
To understand the rise of the DeMarini Dynasty, you need to know Ray DeMarini. A cult hero among avid players, Ray DeMarini emerged on the professional softball scene at the age of 40, a veritable geriatric among younger players. With a scientific approach to training, a batting speed of 96 miles-per-hour and a bombastic attitude, DeMarini fast earned a reputation as a savage competitor.
In June of 1987, ESPN launched a nationwide search for a hardcore player to advise on a series of instructional softball videos. When approached by producer Erich Lytle, the biggest boys in softball repeatedly spoke of a five-foot-seven softball giant—Ray DeMarini. DeMarini had mastered reflex hitting, a technique that drops the ball squarely between the infield and outfield. Impressed with DeMarini's knowledge and scientific approach to training, Lytle not only hired Ray as an advisor—he hired him as the host. Together, they produced Ray DeMarini's Reflex Hitting System, ESPN's most successful home video to date.
Having garnered national recognition through ESPN, Ray turned his efforts toward designing a high-performance bat for the masses. To accomplish this, he needed an engineer. "Not just an engineer," he said, "but a boot-strapping rocket scientist who could build an empire with pocket change." Ray's call was answered by Mike Eggiman. Having grown up on a farm, Eggiman was adept at making the most of a situation. Case in point: the company's first piece of automated bat-making equipment had the heart of an abandoned washing machine.
With Eggiman as Chief Engineer, DeMarini Sports delivered a series of industry firsts: the first multi-wall bat (Doublewall Distance), the first high-performance bat for massive players (Fatboy) and the first high-performance youth bat (Black Coyote).
In 2000, DeMarini joined forces with Wilson Sporting Goods to develop the next generation of hitting technology. Ray believed it was a perfect fit, as both companies shared a vision of developing game-enhancing equipment for avid players. What’s more, the companies had complimentary products: Wilson was the leader in gloves, balls and protective gear, while DeMarini made the world’s finest bats. According to Chris Considine, Vice President/General Manager of Wilson Sporting Goods: "The thing that struck me most about DeMarini was their passion for sports and their true competitiveness.
Within a year, DeMarini unveiled the industry’s first concept bat, the $35,000 F1. Secured under lock and key at the DeMarini Bat Industrial Complex in Hillsboro, Oregon, the F1 served as a technological storehouse for future products, including DeMarini’s landmark Half & Half system.
In December 2001, 12 years after the genesis of DeMarini Sports, Ray DeMarini died of cancer in his Northwest Portland home. He was 55. The next summer, the Portland Metro Softball Association paid homage to the “King of Softball” with the dedication of Ray DeMarini Field. Formerly known as Delta #1, the field was DeMarini’s favorite place to test bats during the early days of business. Ray DeMarini—bat maker and player extraordinaire—was remembered for his high-performance softball bats and unwavering encouragement of everyday players. Today, a 40-foot sign announcing RAY DEMARINI FIELD graces the outfield, and an interpretive display chronicling Ray’s life greets players as they register for games.
More "Insane Dedication to Performance" is in store for tomorrow.
