Description

The Brett Brothers entered the bat business with the goal of ensuring that coaches at all levels of baseball have access to superior quality composite wood bats that are cost effective. Consistency and durability were the primary factors when establishing their bat designs. The Brett Brothers have been involved in baseball their entire lives, through Bobby and John’s Minor League careers to the Professional careers of Ken and George. The Brett Brothers know baseball. Even today baseball is an important part of their lives, with each brother being involved in their own way. George, who is still a part of the Kansas City Royals Organization and a hometown hero here in Kansas City, was a career .305 hitter with 3 Batting Titles, a 1985 World Series Ring and an induction to the Hall of Fame in 1999 to round out his 21 year career in Kansas City. Not only did he prove to be a consistent hitter he showed that he had the knowledge to succeed. The Brett Brothers understood that having reliable wood was an important component. This is why they implemented their 3-piece laminating system along with their patented ‘Boa’ reinforcement handle. The stealth bats are constructed of laminates from hand selected and graded hardwoods. The choice of wood for the barrel has proven to greatly reduce the chipping and flaking characteristic in one-piece ash bats. Brett Brothers: The Very Best in Baseball! The ST271 is BBCOR Certified and legal for H.S. nd Collegiate play! Free Shipping.

Pros: Outstanding pop, balance, and durability. This is my son's second ST271 - the first one is 3 years old and going strong (he wanted a longer bat, so here we are again)

Cons: BESR label could confuse amateur umpire (yes, even though it is a wood bat...)

Broke after one month of hitting practice! David Chavez parent

Pros: Really nice feel and pop! Good looking black finish.

Cons: Just me throwing hitting practice to my 15 year-old son and it broke after a month. It broke clean off about 7 inches from the bottom of the handle. With it went the 10 dollar white bat tape we bought for it. We are in the process of returning it to Brett Bros for replacement. My son was really bummed when it broke. He really liked the bat.

Pros: I've had a 33 in st271 for over 2 years and with all the miss hits that can happen in that time period it has not broken. After this long it feels like the wood is getting soft but thats to be expected. It's the only wood bat that has lasted me longer than 6 months. It feels EXTREMELY light for its size as well and is one of the most balanced bats i've ever felt.

I'm looking for a drop 3 wooden BBCOR bat, from what I read this bat is very durable, is that true? And does this bat have good pop? Will i need bat grip? Also is the 32 inch 29 ounces? I'm 15 And 5'8" and want a wooden bat for less than $60 any suggestions?

How would you compare this bat to the bamboo/maple series? I'm looking for good pop, but more importantly durability .
Cwfrench
The Brett Bros. Maple/Ash Wood Baseball Bat (ST271 Adult) will not be quite as durable as the Brett Bros. Maple/Bamboo Wood Baseball Bat (MB110 Adult). The combination of a bamboo core with the maple shell makes for a very durable bat.
Jake
I have a little brother who is 12 years old. I'm thinking of getting him a wood bat for training. He swings a 31' (-5) Easton XL3 and handles it very well. (1) Should I get this bat considering it's a BBCOR and will be a little heavier -or- (2) should I get a youth model wood bat instead?
Kobe
(1) I think going for a bat like this Brett Bros. Maple/Ash Wood Baseball Bat (ST271 Adult) will be fine for a player swinging a -5 bat as it will be slightly heavier and will be good for training. (2) I do not think that a Youth wood bat would be as helpful as it can be lighter than what you have right now -and- will also have a 2 1/4" barrel diameter.
Ben
What does "extended barrel profile" mean? Also, how does the barrel length compare to the Brett Bros MM110 or the Mizuno MZB331?
Jak
The extended barrel design of the Brett Bros. Maple/Ash Wood Baseball Bat: ST271 Adult means this bat will have an end-loaded swing weight design. This bat will have a slightly different barrel taper as a result when compared to the MM110 and MZB331 which are balanced models.
Cameron
How can a wood bat be BBCOR?
Sammy
Wood bats such as the Brett Bros. Maple/Ash Wood Baseball Bat: ST271 Adult will feature a BBCOR stamp since they are not made from one solid piece of wood.
Cameron
What's the difference between the Brett ST271 and Brett GOBON271?
Francisco
The difference between the Brett Bros. Maple/Ash Wood Baseball Bat: ST271 Adult and the Brett Bros. GOBON Wood Baseball Bat: GOBON271 Adult would that the Brett Bros. Maple/Ash Wood Baseball Bat: ST271 Adult will be maple/ash combo barrel and the Brett Bros. GOBON Wood Baseball Bat: GOBON271 Adult will be Bamboo Super Core Technology Surrounded by Maple, as well as the cosmetics of the bat.
Max
What's the most durable Brett Bros. model?
Steve
Unfortunately it is impossible to say if there is a more durable Brett Bros. bat on the market. The Brett Bros. Maple/Ash Wood Baseball Bat: ST271 Adult would certainly be a great option to consider as it features their patented BOA fiberglass reinforced handle. Any Brett Bros. model with this design should, in theory, hold up better.
Cameron
Can you use this bat in travel ball or showcases?
Temp
The Brett Bros. Maple/Ash Wood Baseball Bat: ST271 Adult will have a BBCOR certification stamp and will be able to use for travel baseball. For showcases it will depend if they are looking for all natural wood and if that is the case the Brett Bros. Maple/Ash Wood Baseball Bat: ST271 Adult will not be allowed. If the showcase allows BBCOR certified models then yes the Brett Bros. Maple/Ash Wood Baseball Bat: ST271 Adult will be legal.

Pat
The Brett Bros. Maple/Ash Wood Baseball Bat: ST271 Adult is fused together with maple and ash with regards to the barrel composition.
Cameron

About the Brand

The Brett Brothers “entered the bat business with the goal of ensuring that coaches at all levels of baseball have access to superior quality composite wood bats that are cost effective." The Brett Brothers have been involved in baseball their entire lives. We are four brothers and all of us played professional ball at one time. Bobby and John played in the Minor Leagues, and Ken and George together put in 31 years in the Major Leagues.

Not only did we play baseball because we were good, we truly loved the game. Even today we closely follow the sport. George still works for the Kansas City Royals. Ken has been a broadcaster for 11 years with Fox. Bobby runs our professional franchises here in Spokane, the baseball Indians and the hockey Chiefs. The oldest brother John is a frequent visitor here to see his brothers and watch our teams play.

Like most baseball families, it all started in a small Southern California town call El Segundo. The boys are all about two years apart, and we had some kind of sporting event about every night. I remember most of our family meals were hot dogs, and everything was on the fly. Our parents were always there to cheer for us, and our lives were generally very happy.

Ken was the first to sign a pro contract at age 17. He was the fourth player taken in the annual draft by the Boston Red Sox. When their scout Joe Stephenson came to sign him, our dad said, "the one you really want is the skinny, barefooted one, George." George in 1966 was all of 12 years old.

If you move up the clock to 1971, George was a senior, and Joe Stephenson desperately wanted him to be Boston's #1 pick. The Red Sox said no, and the Kansas City Royals took George in round #2. The rest is history. Ken played 11 years for numerous teams. George turned out to be exactly the player our late father envisioned. He was a 3-time winner of the Batting Title in three different decades. He was very consistent, and always played the game very hard. He was the greatest Royal, and still makes his home in Kansas City. In the summer of 1999, he was awarded Baseball's highest award, election to the Hall Of Fame in Cooperstown, New York.

In the spring of 1998, the Tridiamond Bat Company needed a place to "try out" their new baseball bats. Because the Bretts owned the only local professional team, an association was formed. When Tridiamond got both NCAA and Major League approval to sell bats, they needed some baseball help. At this time we bought into the company and changed the name to Brett Bats.
