Description
The COMBAT MAXUM is back and continues to push the limits to new heights. COMBAT has made a name for themselves with the MAXUM in the bat industry by consistently delivering an extreme combination of an ultra balanced feel, extremely fast swing weights, a HUGE sweet spot, and unparalleled performance. This COMBAT MAXUM -12 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL7MX112 provides hitters with an almost unfair sweet spot that is 20-40% larger than competitor models! Switching to the SL7MX112 will also result in an average of 38% Swing Weight Reduction which is the lowest swing weight ever! These models are one-piece, fully composite designs crafted with a seamless construction. A carbon-fiber sleeve runs the length of the bat providing uniform strength for a fine-tuned performance. Unlike typical composite bats that are created by rolling or overlapping layers of material, the MAXUM is produced with advanced Precision Molding Technology (PMT). The PMT process injects liquid resin into seamless high-quality carbon sleeves under extreme pressure. The result is an ultra-consistent product that eliminates seams and weak points that you get with the traditional process. No seams means no dead spots and in on the hands doesn't mean out at first base! That means players can rest-assured that the MAXUM will deliver perfectly tuned performance over a longer lifespan. COMBAT is so sure of this ground-breaking design, each baseball bat is backed by a full twelve (12) month warranty and a 30 Day Money-Back Guarantee! If you're not satisfied with the performance of the MAXUM within 30 days from your purchase, send it back to JustBats.com for a full refund or exchange. Additionally, the SL7MX112 features the USSSA 1.15 BPF Certification, a -12 length to weight ratio, and a 2 5/8 inch barrel diameter. COMBAT: Measure Up to MAXUM! Buy yours today with Free Shipping!

Pros: A lot of pop, more than the original. I have had great luck woth durability with these bats as well. My 8 year old loves the bat, pop and feel. He is playing 9u and hitting the ball 220-250' comsistentently.
Cons: None as of yet and we have a 2015/2016 and the new 2017.
Pros: Not sure, didnt have a chance to see what the pros are
Cons: I received this bat at a replacement for the 2016 Combat Maxum that cracked. This bat was my warranty replacement. after three hits the bat cracked badly about 3 inched above the grip.
Pros: My son a small 10 yrd. Sub .200 hitter. needs all the advantages he can get. Has only managed 1 fly ball to center all season long. with this 2017 Maxum his fist hit was a hard ground ball for a base hit. His second hit was a line drive into the gap that carried to what would have been tge fence had we played in a 10u field. His Double/Triple ended up as in inside the park Homerun. Im one proud parent. Every dollar spent worth seeing his team pick him up and carry him into the dugout. Cant wait until the bat gets "broken in". #justbuythebat
Cons: The stickers are showing wear, but it is a bat so thats expected. He did get a stinger but because he hit it off the end of the bat so thats expected.
Pros: My boy plays 10U travel ball, got him this bat and the first tournament we played in he got two doubles and 3 RBIs. He hits line drives and the first one he hit rolled all the way to the fence, and the other hits were so hot the other team had trouble handling them. His confidence is growing. This bat only has maybe 40 hits so far and it has great pop.
Cons: none so far
Pros: My son is just 10 years old and this could be the year he hits his first over the fence home run. The bat has a huge sweet spot and because it is so light weight, my son is now swinging a 31" length instead of 30" and his bat speed has increased.
Cons: So far nothing negative to report but like all composite bats, I worry a little about him cracking it based on other reviews that I've read.
Pros: Awesome Pop, Perfect swing balance, Comfortable grip, This bat is by FAR the best bat i have ever purchased in its price range. I got my son a 29/17 MY son is 6yo, 4'1" tall, 55lbs. His 6U tball team decided to make the jump and play Coach Pitch instead this year so i took the gamble on a bat 2" longer than his 27" tball bat. In 3 games he is 7/10 with 5 balls reaching the 170ft fence and Zero strike outs. The added length helps with pitches away and the exrta 2oz doesnt seem to bother him one bit.
Cons: If you hit the ball off the end cap or handle it stings a bit (SO DO ALL BATS). No other complaints of note.
Pros: In the cage with my son I generally don't swing with his bat when demonstrating, i just use my fungo bat to demonstrate a point. My 8U player was really struggling to hit the ball out of the infield with his Easton Mako bat, even though he has a pretty good swing. Never strikes out, bats the 3-hole. I decided to take a few (light) swings with the Mako. It was obvious the bat was dead, and he's only had it for half a season. I've read about Combat before, and the fact that EASTON (largest bat mfr in the world) decided to buy out Combat had me intrigued. EASTON is no dummy, there is a technological reason they bought Combat, and I'm sure we'll see the Combat technology in EASTON bats before too long. This bat has great balance, MUCH larger sweet spot (probably a baseball width larger), and much less sting than the MAKO. Son hit a home run over center fielders head his first at bat with the MAXUM. I plan to buy one in 29" and 30" just so he can use the same bat for a while.
Cons: None yet. Will try to re-post at the end of the season to update on durability. I gave durability 4-stars, but we haven't had it long enough to rate durability. I sure hope it stays durable, because out of the box this a GREAT bat. I hope Easton doesn't kill the technology, and will implement the one piece composite design into EASTON bats. Otherwise, I will stock up on MAXUM bats from justbats.
Pros: Was good while it lasted.
Cons: The bat just cracked last night. Unfortunately, we had already used the warranty to replace it once the FIRST time it cracked. Both bats lasted only months (less than a year of use) before they formed big cracks. Do not buy unless you are okay buying a bat that doesn't last long.
Pros: My son is 11. Was looking for a bat that he could gain greater bat speed and solid pop. We found it! This is one of the very few -12 bats on the market. He is able to get around on the fastest pitching now and gets great contact.
Cons: Like any bat, there can be some sting when hitting outside of the sweet spot. I also see concerns about cracking this bat. If this happened, my son would be on top of the world and I'm confident these guys would take care of me!
Pros: My almost 8 year old weighs 55lbs plays travel ball and is a contact hitter with an avg. of approx. .600. Have been working on swing speed with weighted bats of 6oz over his game bat weight when using a tee. Made the jump from a 13oz Easton to a 16oz Combat Maxum once I felt like his swing speed and strength could handle the 20%+ increase in weight when compared to his physical size. Received the bat within 3 days of ordering and right out of the box my son was hitting the ball much harder and farther then ever! The ball was consistently coming off the bat much quicker and going 10-15ft further in the air. Son and Dad are very pleased...Can't wait to see how much better this bat gets with more time and hits on it. BTW, my son chose this bat after I explained the differences in the bats we researched AND I made him purchase half of it...always gotta have skin in the game.
Cons: None so far...
Pros: My 8 yo son has always been a contact hitter but now crushes it - last two games with this bat he went 7 of 8 with 4 doubles and a triple. The one hit he didn't get was a hard line that SS dove to make a miraculous play. My son's confidence is through the roof as he's racking up RBIs.
Cons: None other than it will no longer be legal in his league next year - but totally worth the rest of this and fall season he'll get out of it this year.
Pros: Bought this bat for my 13 year-old's trip to the Cooperstown Dreams Park tourney. Used in one batting practice and one scrimmage before the trip and seemed to have lots of pop. Used it in the first three games and then it cracked on a base hit in the third game. Bummer, and had to borrow another bat for the next four games. I will hand it to JustBats.com though, I emailed on my way back from the tourney, and they took care of the issue very promptly.
Cons: I think another reviewer said they wouldn't recommend this bat for bigger kids, and I guess I'd echo that. It's nice and light but for my 13 year old it just wasn't strong enough to be durable.
Pros: The Maxum is an incredibly balanced bat! My son prefers it to his Demarini Vexxum which is also very balanced. No kidding about the "hittable" surface area compared to other bats. Three of his teammates refuse to use their own bats and always use his Combat because of the balanced feel.
Cons: My 13 yo son tried this bat in a game and his first hit was an incredible hit to left field. The pop was astounding right out of the wrapper. My 12 yo who has a better swing mechanics gets on base almost every time from grounders and line drives as he is able to swing the bat quickly because of its balance. However, after a couple games, in the air hits rarely go deep into the outfield even with solid contact and follow through. Same is true for the other three hitters so I am not impressed with how quickly the Maxum lost its pop.
Pros: this is our second combat bat. son loved the first one. really likes this one as well. hits the ball just as hard and as far as his 2016.
Cons: took a little bit longer to break in than his old one. hopefully it lasts as long as his old
Pros: This bat was very close to the specified weight and well balanced. 75% off MSRP (too good to be true?)
Cons: These latest bats from combat are NOT what they use to be. First off, the little sticker now says "Designed in Canada, made in China" It used to say "Made in Canada" my boy took just a few swings with it and we both knew it was a dud. The barrel is hard as a rock, it rings the hands, the sound is completely different and there's no pop what-so-ever. LOVED the old Maxums before PSG gutted it, tried to like this one, but I'm afraid they're officially done. You've been warned!
Pros: This was out first purchase of a big barrel bat, and it has great pop and feel for my son who plays 10u select ball. i wiuld recommend this bat to thise who ate looking for a bat with great pop.
Cons: if he misses the sweet spot he feels the sting in his hands, but it doesnt happen often.
Pros: So far, so good! Our 10u travel team loves our new Combat Maxum in the 29" drop 12oz version. The Maxum is well balanced, allowing for maximum swing speed. The barrel is very long, comparable to most other 30" bats in this price market. So far, I feel that the Mako Beast Hyperlite has more "pop" of the two bats in terms of ball distance, but the Maxum has it's own strengths. The long barrel has allowed some of our kids that often miss the sweet spot of the bat to experience solid hits that wouldn't be there with other bats. The stock Lizard Grip is nice! It's sticky, comfortable, and long.
Cons: The one-piece design allows for more vibration, but that's the case with any one-piece composite bat. Solution: hit the sweet spot!
Pros: I have all Combat bats and like the response my kids have to the bat. From the Tee Ball Bats to the Maxum we have a Combat bat from 26" to 30". There aren't too many bats with good pop at a drop 12 or 11. My sons aren't the biggest kids but they make up the difference with bat speed. The length to weight ratio makes it easy for my boys to make contact and hit the ball hard. They like the feel... Now all the kids on my team use Combat.
Cons: None yet. Would like to see a more end loaded bat at this length to weight ratio.
Pros: If a bat cracks twice in 7 months ...... they are no pros!!!!!!
Cons: Bat craked twice ...... bought in August 2017, cracked in December 2017......replaced. Cracked again in March ..... they will not replace it stay away from this bat.
Pros: This bat is awesome!! Very light, has great pop!! Every player on the team wants to use this bat!! It's been used in 3 games so far and several have made home runs with it!! Great bat for the price!! Would definitely recommend!
Cons: None so far
Pros: Great bat if you hit it directly in the sweet spot every time. Nice and light for kids.
Cons: Extremely small sweet spot. Right out of the wrapper this bat had very little pop and made a horrible sound unless you hit the ball directly in the sweet spot. Anything off the end of the bat or handle makes a vibrating sound and the ball barely comes off of the bat. Both my son and his teammates gave up on this bat rather quickly. We have gotten to the point where we have put the bat aside and will no longer use it. Highly suggest finding a different bat to buy.
Pros: Being a coach i always look for the best bats for my spn/ players. This bat had made a difference in many kids whether they are experienced or developing. the bat has great pop and lots of kids on the all star and travel team love using it. I would rate this bat one of the best 2-5/8 barrel on the market. Its hard finding a 2-5/8 big barrel woth good drop ratio so i would highly recommend this bat for any league that is USA certified
Cons: None that comes to mind as long as the bat is kept maintained and not treated like a trash it'll live up to the hype
Pros: Great balance and contact. Son rarely struck out using this bat. The light weight helped him get around quick and sent it to the outfield on a shot. Son is 11, more of a contact hitter and he loved this bat.
Cons: After about a year it starting cracking just below the barrel. A lot of swings in those 12 months. Because I bought the bat here I was given a UPS return label and a refund.
Pros: Only used a few times so far. Got it on closeout here at justbats. The balance of this bat is exactly what my son was looking for. We moved to this from a DeMarini Zen which he just never got the feel of. Even though he has only used it a few times so far, the ball comes off the bat with much greater velocity than the Zen. Hoping that Easton takes Combat's technology and uses it exclusively on a bat in the near future. We would be a buyer for sure once he outgrows this one. Please understand that this is not a knock on the Zen which is a great bat in its own right. A couple of other kids on the team would use my son's and they had a better experience using it.
Cons: None that we have seen so far.

Pros: Great POP right out of the wrapper and the grip used for this bat, along with the POP and design of the bat, is one feature my son immediately enjoyed. The Quatro collar is also a cool feature for this bat that I feel truly does have a purpose with the absorption. The durability of this bat seems to be way better than some of the other composite bats on the market today.
Cons: none just yet
Pros: I love everything about this bat--the weight, the length, the feel, the grip, everything. The grip is not too slick and not too rough; it's perfect. It's the best bat I've ever known and has already helped in my League. Awesome!
Cons: Absolutely nothing!!
Pros: My son had a chance to try this bat out thanks to a friend. Obviously, the color is an eye-catcher, but my son loved how smooth the feel was. His swing was more balanced and he made a lot more contact. Impressive bat.
Cons: Didn't see one.
Pros: I figured Rawlings was releasing a gimmicky bat with bright colors. But, my son has used this bat for a few games now and it's amazing. Easy feel that has helped him make contact a lot more. His teammates can't wait to have their own Quatro. Very impressive, Rawlings!
Cons: Still searching
Pros: Very bright neon will likely distract opposing pitchers.
Cons: No pop what-so-ever. At a major University camp this past week all players had to use this bat during on-field BP. Not one kid liked it. The bat was dead, and very few kids hit it out of the infield; mostly weak ground balls. Kids used the Velo or 5150 in second round and the results were what you would expect for HS Juniors. Unless this bat is completely re-engineered, DO NOT waste your or your parents money on this neon joke. Stick with the tried and true Velo or 5150!!
Pros: I demoed this bat at the Cal Ripken World Series. This bat has the greatest pop out of all the bats that I've ever used. Also the grip was great, comfortable in hands. The bat was a demo so it was broke in, but either way it had great pop.
Cons: None
Pros: Bat has a good feel, right out of the wrapper, with very good pop.
Cons: After 3 weeks of use, the end cap broke off. Rawlings replaced the bat, after 4 more weeks it shattered. It was a 75 degree day, ball hit the sweet spot and shattered.
Pros: This bat has good balance and the vibration when a ball is hit off the handle is minimal. It doesn't have the pop that the Velo or the CF7 had.
Cons: End cap issues for Rawlings. First one didn't make it two weeks before the end cap came off warming up for a game. Rawlings replaced it, but it looks like a design issue and I won't be surprised if this isn't a common issue. Wish I would have bought the CF7 when I had the chance.
Pros: Guys seemed to like the grip and overall feel of the bat in their hands. Some said it felt light compared to their own bats. Demo was brand new, so not yet broken in, but blew the velo monitor away. The exit velocity averaged 2-5mph over the CF8...team was sold. Get over the color and ended up with 8 of them.
Cons: Too bright...but that's what the kids like these days.
Pros: Goodfeel, balanced, minimal vibration.
Cons: Most of the kids on my sons 12u team has the Quatro bat. We've yet to see any pop out of this bat. I can't understand the high ratings it's getting. After the first two tournaments, no one was hitting the ball hard with this bat. Its almost like it was a piece of soggy wood. Everyone went back to their old DeMarini CF8's and Easton Maco's. Now they are blasting bombs again.
Pros: Good Pop, no vibration.
Cons: Bats do not hold up. I know of at least 5 people who have this bat and each have had bats crack, handle broke off, & end cap comes out. I don't know anyone who has this bat that has not had to return for replacement and replacements have not held up either.
Pros: none
Cons: Breaks easily and is junk. Purchased this bat in January of 2017. By June 2017 it had cracked and sent it in for warranty. Bat cracked yesterday in a game and called Rawling's today. They said that if I would have called in January of 2018 they may have considered a warranty but since we are passed the original date of purchase they said no way. This bat is complete junk. I will never buy another bat from them again. And seriously couldn't even offer up a discount of sorts.
Pros: Ordered this bat (size 30/20 2017 model) from Just Bats for my 11yr old. Hit about 100 balls off tee. Hit around 200 balls at park. After that the bat was hot. Balls flying everywhere. Large sweet spot. don't know why this bat was flying of the shelves last year in our area.
Cons: None so far
Pros: This bat is hot out of the box! My son is 8years old he plays travel baseball and we purchased this bat after he tried several of the other bbcor models and didnt care for them. He is a big guy at 4'7 and 98lbs, solid contact hitter with a big swing. This bat is truly perfect for him! Nice balanced bat with no sting or vibration, the ball HOPS off the thing and theres plenty of sweet spot even when you get jammed up. Reccommend for a kid thats used to swinging hard and likes the balanced feel. A+ from us on product, cust service rocks and shipping was fast and free!
Cons: My son doesnt care for the bright color thats his one and only complaint.

About the Brand

Rawlings is a major manufacturer of competitive team sports equipment and apparel for baseball, basketball, and football, as well as licensed MLB, NFL, and NCAA retail products. Rawlings is a major supplier to professional, collegiate, interscholastic and amateur organizations worldwide, including the Official Baseball Supplier to Major League Baseball.
The first real innovation in glove making occurred in 1912 when Rawlings Sporting Goods Company introduced the "Sure Catch" glove, which was "endorsed by leading players all over the country." The Sure Catch was a one-piece glove with sewn-in finger channels and looked better suited for a duck's foot than a man's hand. Catchers' mitts used at the time were large and bulky with a single leather thong passing for a web.
In 1920, Bill Doak, a journeyman pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, approached Rawlings with an idea for improving the baseball glove from a mere protective device to a genuine aid in fielding. The "Bill Doak" model was so revolutionary that it stayed in Rawlings' line until 1953. Its key feature was a multi-thong web laced into the first finger and thumb, which created for the first time in baseball's young life, a natural pocket.
In 1925, Rawlings unveiled a three-fingered fielder's glove, and ten years later improved the Bill Doak model with a two-piece leather web. At the same time, the "T" web became a rage for first basemen's mitts. The pocket underwent a pronounced change in 1941 when the Trapper Mitt, also known as the Claw, appeared. The "Deep Well" pocket was so unique that Rawlings quickly patented it. The design was improved in 1950 by adding a leather piece across the top. Another significant creation occurred in 1948 with the three-fingered Playmaker. A five-fingered fielder's model, with all fingers laced together, provided greater pocket control.
The six-fingered Trap-Eze evolved in the 1960's. In more recent years, Rawlings produced the Fastback design, which gives a glove a snugger fit, greater extension, and overall control. The Holdster is a slot through which a finger can be extended for additional protection from impacts on the pocket. Then, there is the Edge-U-Cated Heel with its extended U-shaped lacing and the Pro H Web and much-copied Basket Web.
Some of Rawlings more recent glove innovations also include the unique Spin-Stopper design which reduces ball spin when the ball hits the glove, and the Cantilever glove design feature that provides a cushioned area between the hand and the glove's palm area. In all, Rawlings has produced and patented more functionally innovative glove features and designs than that of any other glove manufacturer. The result is that the modern baseball glove is much larger, more comfortable, better padded and made to last far longer than its ancestors. It is not uncommon to see today's Major League players wearing the same Rawlings' glove they wore during their college playing days. In fact, Rawlings is the #1 glove in the major leagues. Rawlings maintains about 65 models of baseball and softball mitts and gloves in its line. The prototypes of virtually all of them have been field tested by professionals before entering a sporting goods dealer's inventory.
