Pros:  Bat is hot right out of the wrapper. My son has always had the ability to out hit everyone else on the team, but this bat brings him to another level. The ball is coming off the bat at least 5mph faster. Thankfully we do not have to switch to the new USA bat standard until 19. Many of the folks that bought new USA Bats are not happy with them and going back to their old ones.

Cons:  None - Buy it before they are gone and you are forced to go to the USA BAT Standard

Pros:  Hot out the wrapper (really)! After several composite bat replacement, we were very disappointed with the combat -10 performance. The Voodoo is my son favorite bat, for right now.

Cons:  I’m not sure about the durability, yet. So far, no complaints.

Pros:  Good pop. Ball comes off bat fast. My 7 year old son has hit two inside the park homeruns. I don't mean 7 year olds fumbling the ball homeruns I mean hitting the ball over heads and rolling to the 223' part of the field. He has hit a few doubles and numerous singles. He enjoys hitting with this bat. Great bat to gain confidence. After his second homerun he stated, "Dad I'm so proud of myself."

Cons:  Seemed to me the bat needed to be broken in. After about 50-100 hits through practice this bat started to perform.

Pros:  Great purchase for the first year of kid pitch. My son is 7 and has been hitting well with this bat. He has a hard hit double to the fence in each game this spring. I bought the 27/17 for a seven year old and he feels confident at the plate. The bat has a unique sound to it and i really like it! The entire team is using this bat now. For the price you can't beat it so buy the bat and let your kid make contact and become a better hitter before dropping serious money on a bat.

Cons:  For 50 bucks...none!

Pros:  Solid feel with good pop right out of the wrapper. Feels lighter than its true weight which is good for us. My son went 3-3 in his first fame with this bat with solid line drives after struggling to make solid contact with his other bats all season. Its given him the confidence we have been lacking so far!!

Cons:  None to mention at this point.

Pros:  Looks and swings fine, it's just dead. My 8U all star team used this as the team bat to hit heavy balls in warm ups so we didn't mess up anyone's bat that actually has pop. It's not awful and actually hits pretty well for my 4 year old, but the older kids with power...it just doesn't have any.

Cons:  Just has no pop. It sounds like hitting with a cardboard box and is just dead.

Pros:  cheap price, entry bat for a young player

Cons:  I have gone through 2 and both lost their pop and sounded hollow after a few hits. You can hear the change. Justbats makes you work with Demarini and they will only replace the bat once. Save you money and buy something else and perhaps from somewhere close to where you live so you can get a better warranty. I would not recommend this purchase.

Trying to decide between this bat and the Marucci CAT 7 or any other recommendations. My son is 5'4" and weighs more than 180 lbs. Has been swinging a drop 10 but time to move to a drop 9 or drop 8. Last night in a game he hit a Louisville Slugger 916 drop 10 240' effortlessly. Trying to find the right bat for him after he cracked an aluminum bat recently.

I would recommend a 32" bat based off the information you've provided. I typically recommend swinging a -10 in 6th grade, a -8 in 7th grade, and a -5 in 8th grade. However, this can vary based off player strength. The 2017 DeMarini Voodoo Senior League Baseball Bat: DXVBR features a two-piece design and would be more similar to the Slugger 916 than the one-piece design of the 2018 Marucci CAT 7 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: MSBC7X10.

What does enhanced variable wall thickness mean? And how does this bat's pop compare to the new Easton Beast bat?

The exact way the technology works is not information that DeMarini provides us, so I could contact them directly if you wanted more information about that. The way I interpret it is that is simply helps enhance the size of the sweet spot. The pop on this bat should be very similar to the Easton Beast models for 2018.

If your league is permitting use of USSSA 1.15 rated bats, then yes, this 2017 DeMarini Voodoo Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVBR) would be permitted for use. At the time of your question, the 32"/23 oz size of this bat is available for purchase.

My son is 12 and half years old, 5' and 97 lbs. Should he get a -10 or a -9? How does this bat compare to the 2017 Easton S3 (2 3/4" barrel)?

Based upon your player's height and weight, our general recommendation would be to get a 30" length bat. I would suggest going with the heavier -9 size of bat so that he can progress to heavier swinging bats and be ready for the -3 BBCOR bats when he gets to high school. This 2017 DeMarini Voodoo Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVBR) will be different than the S3 (2 3/4") bat as this bat is a hybrid (alloy barrel and composite handle) with a -9 length-to-weight ratio and a 2 5/8" barrel. The S3 is all-alloy with a -10 length-to-weight ratio and 2 3/4" barrel diameter.

Is this bat the equivalent to the Voodoo Overlord?

The two bats are very comparable. They both have an alloy barrel, and an advanced end cap to help with the balance of the bat. The 2017 DeMarini Voodoo Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVBR) is a very comparable bat and will perform very similar to the Overlord.

My 11 yr old used the Omaha and it only lasted a couple months before denting started. (1) Would this bat be any more durable than a 2016 Louisville Omaha 516? (2) I would prefer alloy, but do the higher priced composite bats last longer?

(1) If the Omaha bat being swung in the past had a 2 3/4" barrel diameter, I do think that this 2017 DeMarini Voodoo Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVBR) has slightly more potential for durability due to the smaller 2 5/8" barrel diameter. It is my observation that 2 5/8" barrel diameters hold up slightly better. (2) I do not think that you need pay for the more expensive composite bats as the potential for performance and durability is the same between aluminum and composite barreled bats.

My 10 yr old is about 5'1" and 115 pounds. I'm looking for the best end loaded (for power hitters) bat. What would you suggest? Thank you

The selection of end loaded bats for youth players is a bit more limited, but I would look at the Mako XL or the Mako Beast XL bats for good end loaded options for him. This Voodoo is a balanced model.

My son loves his Vexxum bat. Yesterday at practice it cracked and we are left searching for a new bat. Is this bat comparable? Better?

The 2017 DeMarini Voodoo Senior League Baseball Bat: DXVBR is going to be very similar to the previous DeMarini Vexxum models. Both of these bats are two-piece hybrid designs with balanced swing weights, alloy barrels and composite handles. The difference between the two is the alloy being used with the 2017 DeMarini Voodoo Senior League Baseball Bat: DXVBR using a new alloy (X14) compared to the old alloy, X12, that the Vexxum used.

Unfortunately, there currently is not really a bat out there that will feature the all-alloy build with composite inserts in the handle like the Exogrid. What's the reasoning for not having this in a -10? Does it truly swing that much lighter?

This bat is offered in a -10, however it has a 2 3/4" barrel diameter. It is the 2017 DeMarini Voodoo Senior League Baseball Bat: DXVBZ. The 2017 Voodoo models for senior league are offered in a balanced swing weight, as opposed to an end-loaded swing weight like in past years. Balanced bats are noticeably easier to swing than end-loaded models.

I have read that this 2017 Voodoo (DXVBR) is more balanced than previous year Voodoos. Is DeMarini getting away from end-weighting? How does the 2017 Voodoo model compare to the 2016 RAW and the 2015 OVERLORD?

This 2017 DeMarini Voodoo Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVBR) will have a balanced swing feel to it. For their Senior League/Youth Big Barrel models, all the DeMarini Voodoo bats will be balanced in their swing weighting. This Voodoo (DXVBR) will feature the same hybrid design (alloy barrel and composite handle) like the RAW and OVERLORD, but it will be balanced in its swing weight and that will be the biggest difference when compared to the end-loaded RAW and OVERLORD.

We've only used this bat once, and I expected to hear a "ping" noise on contact, but what we got was more of a crack or pop. I thought this was unusual, but has anyone else experienced this?

This 2016 DeMarini Voodoo Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVDX) is made with a one-piece, all-alloy design to it which typically produces a "ping" noise at contact. I haven't heard many other complaints in regard to the sound being produced by the bat at contact with a ball. However, if the bat is performing well, I wouldn't let the sound being produced by the bat, keep you from using the bat in practice or games.

(1) What's the difference between the DeMarini Voodoo Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVDX) and the DeMarini Vexxum NVS Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVXY)? (2) Do 2 1/4" bats have longer sweet spots? (3) Do you recommend using a big barrel bat?

(1) This 2016 DeMarini Voodoo Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVDX) will be a one-piece, all-alloy bat with a 2 5/8" barrel diameter and -10 length-to-weight ratio. The DeMarini Vexxum NVS Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVXY) is a hybrid bat (alloy barrel and composite handle) with a 2 3/4" barrel and -10.5" length-to-weight ratio. Overall, I think the bats will feel pretty similar in their weighting. Biggest difference in feel will be at contact. This Voodoo will be stiff at contact while the Vexxum will feature flex (due to its 2-piece design). (2) There may be some youth bats (2 1/4" diameter) that have a longer barrel length than some big barrel bats (2 5/8" or 2 3/4" diameter). The general thinking is that the longer the barrel length; the bigger the sweet spot. However, I would not say that as a general rule, the barrel lengths and sweet spots on the youth barrels will be longer than what is on big barrel bats. (3) I always recommend using a big barrel bat if it is allowed because the big barrel bats typically cover up more area of the strike than the youth barrel bats.

My son is almost 6 and plays coach pitch and T-ball (he has a great skill set and does well). He currently uses a 26" (-10) Easton S3. I'm thinking he may get more bat speed with a shorter bat. (1) Should I get a shorter bat? (2) How does this bat compare with the 2017 Easton S3 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL17S310) - 2 5/8"?

(1) If he did just fine with a 26"/16 oz bat this past year, then I don't think getting him a smaller bat would be a necessary move. I would suggest to probably just stay at that same size. (2) This 2016 DeMarini Voodoo Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVDX) and the 2017 Easton S3 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL17S310) will both feature an all-alloy build and a 2 5/8" barrel. Overall, I think the bats will have a pretty similar potential for performance.

Youth big barrel or Senior League models like the 2016 DeMarini Voodoo Senior League Baseball Bat (DXVDX) do not typically come in that size. Actually, it is the only model we currently have in that size. The 2015 Easton S3 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL15S310) only goes as small as a 28 inch 18 ounce.

Description for 2017 DeMarini Voodoo Senior League Baseball Bat: DXVBR
New from DeMarini for 2017! The DeMarini Voodoo series has been a constant in baseball bat bags across the nation since its release. This year, DeMarini has made it so that more players can use one of the top hybrid construction baseball bats on the market. They've taken the famous end loaded version that power hitters have come to love, now called the Voodoo Insane, and have added a balanced option, named the Voodoo. With the all new X14 alloy, this beast of a bat is hotter than ever. The X14 alloy has been upgraded for enhanced variable wall thickness which allows DeMarini to distribute the weight in different ways to provide more pop and two different feels. Additionally, it optimizes KSI yield strength for maximum performance day in and day out. As with other DeMarini bats, the D-Fusion 2.0 handle will allow you to get more boom out of every swing by redirecting negative vibration back into the barrel. On the other end, the low pro end cap optimizes the swing weight and provides the ultimate sound and feel through the barrel during every at bat. DeMarini: Power Of Choice!

This 2017 DeMarini Voodoo Senior League Baseball Bat: DXVBR features a -9 length to weight ratio, a 2 5/8 inch barrel diameter, and the USSSA 1.15 BPF certification.
