Can I Use A Softball Bat For Baseball?

Can You Use A Softball Bat For Baseball?

First of all, there are two types of softball bats - a Slow Pitch Bat and a Fastpitch Bat. Technically, you could use a slow pitch softball bat in a fastpitch game without ruining the bat. However, since bats are made specifically for the game or League they're used in, the slow pitch bat would not hit the ball as well because of the larger weight.

More importantly, you should not and cannot use a softball bat for baseball because a bat is crafted specifically for the League it will be used in. So, softball bats are almost all 2 1/4" in diameter at the barrel, but they also are constructed differently in terms of weight distribution. This causes softball bats to break more frequently, especially if used with a ball (such as a baseball) that the bat was not designed to hit.
