Pros: Great Bat! Great Pop! Best Bat I have ever purchased! Nice Color! Great buy for the price!
Pros: just awesome! it has surpassed all my expectations! would buy again and again! no brainer. cannot go wrong with a old hickory!
Pros: excellent bat really hard to break well balanced and has the biggest sweet spot ever
Pros: well balanced / changed from hitting long pop-up to hard liners. Love the look /good bat speed.
Cons: smooth handle required pine tar or tape
Pros: Great bat. Suprisingly light. Incredible pop and very durable. By far the best wood bat I have ever used.
Pros: I love my old hick!! Been using it for high school I think it has more pop than a bbcor. Nice balance large barrel and thin handle
Cons: Only complaint is the gloss finish shows ball marks.next time I'm gonna get a custom unfinished
Pros: amazing feel, great wood quality, and amazing pop
Cons: marks up easily (minor)
Pros: Great feel and pop with a very light swing weight, ball jumps off bat.
Cons: Glossy finish leaves tons of ball marks, and there is a 3/4 inch blemish in the wood on the barrel, neither ruin the bat it still is fantastic just could have done without.
Pros: Has a nice feel. Personally I like a little more barrel weight and this bat is rather balanced, especially since it has a 243 turn. Nice bat, great feel and a nice pop. I feel confident with it in the box.
Cons: Took a few games to adjust to the more balanced feel for the turn style. After the adjustment it was beautiful.
Pros: this bat has helped my game tremendously, the pop is insane, its slightly top heavy which i like being a middle of the order guy, and the crack of the bat on contact is thundering! i hit better with this bat than i do my bbcor!
Cons: the finnish leaves ball marks all over the barrell but that doesnt effect the production of the bat
Pros: -Made to Order -Pro Stock Wood not 2nd tier -Well Balanced feel. Does not feel end loaded The J143M is the actual model used by Mike Trout. Just look at the pics of his bats pre the Mike Trout signature model. The MT signature model is not actually the spec of Trouts bat... the J143M is.
Cons: none at this time

I recently purchased this bat and I have always been taught to hit label up with a wood bat but I have also heard that you do not hit with the side of the barrel where the wood begins to circle. My predicament is that if I am hitting with label facing up then the ball will hit the side of the bat where the wood is beginning to circle and where the wood grains are straight that is where the label is at. I also have the Joeybats Marucci and it is the same deal so how should I position the bat in order to avoid breaking it?
It is best to hit with the label on the Old Hickory Bat Co. Custom Pro Maple Wood Baseball Bat: J143M Natural Adult facing either up or down to the plate. The strongest part of the wood grain will be on the label side and the opposite side of the label.
What is the difference between this bat and the Trout model?
The Old Hickory Bat Co. Custom Pro Maple Wood Baseball Bat: J143M Natural Adult is going to feature a 243 turn model while the Old Hickory Bat Co. Mike Trout Maple Wood Baseball Bat: MT27M Adult is cut to different specifications than any standard turn model. However, it is going to be very similar to a 243 so while there are minor differences they will feature a similar design and be very comparable bats.
What is the difference between this bat and the MT27M?
Overall, this J143M Natural Adult and the MT27M bats are going to be pretty similar as both bats are made very close to the 243 turning model. Both bats feature pretty thin handles and longer barrel lengths. The biggest difference will be the cosmetics on each bat.
How balanced is the J143M and who's pro model is it?
The Old Hickory Bat Co. Custom Pro Maple Wood Baseball Bat (J143M) is more of an end-loaded design rather than being balanced. It may be used by pro players but is not a signature model of a specific player.
Is this bat closer to a drop 3 or drop 2? It says it is approximately in between but is it made to be a drop 2 or 3?
The Old Hickory Bat Co. Custom Pro Maple Wood Baseball Bat (J143M Natural Adult) is a natural wood bat. When making a bat out of natural materials they cannot guarantee an exact weight, all I can suggest is that it will be between a drop.
Which bat is more balanced, the Old Hickory MT27M or the Old Hickory J143M?
Both the Old Hickory Bat Co. Custom Pro Maple Wood Baseball Bat (J143M) and the Old Hickory Bat Co. Mike Trout Maple Wood Baseball Bat (MT27M) feature a 243 turn, which makes both bats feature the same end loaded feel. Any bat that features a 271 or a 110 turn model will be more balanced than those two options.

We will be receiving more of the Old Hickory Bat Co. Custom Pro Maple Wood Baseball Bat (J143M Natural Adult) but we do not have an exact date as to when. We should be getting some within the next 2-3 weeks but like I said, we do not have an exact date.

Is this bat nicely balanced or barrel heavy?
If you're comparing wood bats to alloy or composite bats, they're all going to have a slightly end-loaded feel. That is because wood is a different consistency and weight distribution is not as easily manipulated as non-wood bats. The J143M does have a long barrel and will feel fairly end-loaded.
