Description

Louisville Slugger Omaha BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBO521B3

Slug your way to the top when you place an Omaha BBCOR bat in your hands!

Bat Benefits

Bring home the bat that is named after the heralded headquarters of the College World Series: The Omaha! This Omaha is built with a sturdy and trustworthy one-piece, all-alloy design. More specifically, it has a single piece of Slugger’s MX-7U1+ alloy that is designed to be extra stiff. That stiff feel allows it to have one of the purest energy transfers on the market. Essentially, all of the power that you put into your swing should go right into the baseball at the moment of contact (and almost nothing is lost in a barrel flex that can typically be seen on two-piece bats).

And you don’t have to give extra worry to the thought of your hands getting rung up when you don’t connect with a baseball on the sweetspot of the bat. Louisville Slugger has crafted the handle with VIBEX material built into it. This material should dissipate a good amount of vibration that can upset the hands if contact with the baseball is made off-center from the sweetspot of the bat.

Go after this BBCOR bat if you are shopping for a high school or college-aged player! Be sure to note that if you do get this bat; the 29", 30", 31" and 32" versions of the bat should all feel balanced. However, the 33" version will probably have a little bit of an end-loaded feel to it.

(This bat was originally an exclusive to Louisville Slugger's website, but JustBats was able to obtain models of this bat from Louisville Slugger as they were trying to create more room for their newest Omaha BBCOR bat)

A little End Loaded Jack Little Player

Pros: One piece a little end loaded but feel most of the weight in the hands.

Cons: No cons like the feel. Had previously used big barrel B5 East and DeMarini Voodoo which are really balance bats

First game son went 6 for 7 in a double header Mike Parent

Pros: My son says the bat has a good weight balance a great feel and good pop. He is just switching over to this from a drop 10 so is getting used to the 7 oz difference. He is a small kid for his age. 4'6" but didn't seem to have any issues with the bat. He only hit with it in the cage twice before the game.

Cons: None yet

Solid bat and the price is right Jason Parent

Pros: It seems to have all the pop of more expensive bats and so far (been using for 11 months) has been reliable.

Cons: I thought the grip that came with wore out faster than other bats we've used, but no biggie.

About the Brand

In 1842, J. Frederick Hillerich emigrated with his family from Baden-Baden, Germany to the United States. Eight years before, the 1834 Book of Sports had made its debut as the nation's first publication covering baseball. But when he arrived in Baltimore, J. Frederick Hillerich would never have dreamed of the future impact his family would have on America's favorite pastime.

After a short while, the Hillerichs moved to Louisville, where J. Fred started a woodworking shop in 1856. Two of his sons, Adam and John Andrew "Bud" were born in the United States and would later join their father in his business. By 1864 "J.F. Hillerich, Job Turning" was in operation and filled orders for businesses by custom-turning everything from balusters to bedposts.

The firm thrived, and by 1875 the little woodworking shop employed about 20 people. In 1880 Bud Hillerich, who was an amateur baseball player, became an apprentice in his father's shop. Young Bud made his own baseball bats along with bats for several of his teammates.

The debate over the origins of the first bat continues to generate controversy among baseball enthusiasts, but the younger Hillerich was most certainly involved in getting his father's business involved with what would become the company's signature item. According to company legend, the first bat was turned by Bud for Pete "The Old Gladiator" Browning in 1884. Browning was a star on Louisville's professional American Association team - the Eclipse. On a spring afternoon Bud, then seventeen, witnessed Browning break his favorite bat. Bud offered to make a bat for his hero, and Browning accepted. After the young wood shop apprentice lathed a quality stick from white ash, according to the story, Browning got three hits with it in the next game.

Louisville Slugger gloves are worn by more pitchers in Major League Baseball than any other glove.
