Bat Review: Mizuno Ghost BBCOR Baseball Bat

For the 2018 season, Mizuno has stepped outside of the box and gone against the grain by releasing a new BBCOR bat that no one has ever seen, or heard of, before - the Mizuno Ghost BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB18GHST). 

Mizuno has had the Generation, the Covert, and the MAXCOR for quite some time, and it has been a while since they released a new design. The Ghost is a nice companion to the already existing and proven lineup of Mizuno BBCOR bats. As the first two-piece, fully composite baseball bat in their lineup, Mizuno has utilized their Black Onyx Carbon to construct this durable, bona fide bomb dropper. The feature that sets this BBCOR bat apart from others is the Power Ring technology. If you were to peel back the top layer of composite material, the first thing you'd notice is the two rings that are carefully assembled so as not to touch the walls of the barrel. Pros: "Seriously, the barrel on the Ghost is HUGE. I'd argue it's bigger than the MAXUM. I like the 'Speed-Helix Grip." It's pretty thin, but it's comfortable. 

Cons: "I've noticed some sting, and while it says balanced, there is definitely a slight load to this bat." 

You'd think with the massive length of the barrel on the Ghost that it would feature a serious end loaded swing weight. But, that's not the case at all. Because Mizuno used their industry leading Black Onyx Carbon material, they were able to take away some of the unnecessary weight towards the end of the barrel and make the Ghost the most balanced bat in their lineup.
