Transcript
If you’re swinging a big barrel bat this season, it’s important to be aware of the newest USSSA requirements. Big barrel bats are bats that have a barrel diameter larger than 2 ¼ inches, but no more than 2 ¾ inches. Their weight can also not exceed 31oz. Now, If you play 14U and below, your bat MUST have the newest USSSA mark. Unless you prefer a heavier bat, and then BBCOR Certified bats are also OK. They just have to be made by an approved USSSA bat licensee. For 15U and above players, you are now REQUIRED to swing a BBCOR Certified bat. That means a -3 with a BBCOR stamp. In both divisions, using a wood bat is allowed, as long as it’s manufacturer is on the USSSA approved licensee list. That list can be found at usssa.com. If your bat becomes heavily damaged, it may be illegal for play. This decision will be up to the umpire. If you alter your bat in any way that increases performance, you may be subject to a 2-5 year suspension. Hope this gives you a better idea of what you need to look for when purchasing your next bat. If you still have questions, give our customer service team a call and we’ll be happy to help!
