My son is 13 but only 5' 2" and 101 lbs., he is currently using a 31" 21 oz. I am looking for a drop 5 bat to transition to high school next season. Will this bat be too end loaded for him to swing.

A 31" 26 oz. DeMarini Vexxum: DXVX5 Senior League would make a great transitional bat. DeMarinis are slightly end loaded, so it shouldn't have a huge impact on his swing.

I bought a similar looking Demarini Vexxum Senior League -5 bat a couple of years ago. Is this bat identical to that one or has it been "tuned down" since BESR ratings have been abandoned?

The DeMarini Vexxum will use newer materials for better performance and durability than the Vexxum a few years ago. BESR ratings only applied to adult bats, not Senior League bats.

Is there ever a problem is the two-piece breaking? We just bought this bat and it seems to have good pop.

There are cases where two-piece bats or even one-piece bats have broke. Almost every non-wood bat we carry has a year manufacturer warranty in the rare event that your bat were to break.

How does this vexxum compare to the 2013 vexxum? what is the difference between the x10 alloy and the sc4 alloy? thanks

Not much has changed besides the alloy in the barrel. The X10 alloy will be just as strong as the SC4 alloy, but a little lighter in weight. It may not make that much of a difference, but the 2013 Vexxum may feel just a little more balanced.

What age/size boy is this bat appropriate for? I have a 12.5 year old that is a good hitter and wants this bat, but I'm afraid it may be too heavy.

That all depends on his height, weight and what size bat he is currently using. I recommend our Bat Coach to help determine the best length: http://www.justbats.com/bat-coach/ . As far as weight, you do not want to move down in weight from what he is using now, and you don't want to move up more than 3 ounces or so.
