Just started working out with the Marucci AP5 the last 2 weeks and I am impressed. This bat surely looks the part but the performance really ices the deal. The bat has some serious pop and the balance is perfect. I really like the size of the "true" sweet spot which extends almost the whole barrel of the bat. Have done cage work only, but know I will not be disappointed when I get outside to hit
I had a huge problem with breaking bats - ash, maple, Louisville Slugger, Mizuno, etc. I was burning through bats and really needed some value out of my investments so I decided to pay a little extra and purchase a Marucci bat. I'm 6'4 260 and a power hitter. I decided to try this bat and the Chase Utley model. Both bats are excellent but for a power hitter, this bat specifically is phenomenal. Balanced, with a lot of pop, great size handle and knob, looks great, and the pros use it. They (Marucci bats) will give you greater bat life for those times when you get jammed and you have no choice but to take the pitch off the handle or you are protecting with two strikes and you foul one of the very end of the barrel. If you have a little bit of extra money to spend I highly recommend this to anyone who hits for power - it's a worthy investment.
With wood bat comes breakage. It doesn't matter what brand or type of bat, if it's wood it will break. This bat does give longer bat life than many other companies and models I've used, but because of the heavy, over-sized barrel, this bat will break after a while. Once again, it will give you good bat life for a wood bat, but don't think for the price it's unbreakable. Heavy barrel with small handle + the right impact = breakage
