Description

The RIP-IT Prototype has been re-certified for BBCOR play! The PROBR features the same feel and performance of the original, with a new LOW PRICE! Welcome to pure joy at the plate. The all-new RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR is unlike any other BBCOR bat on the market. Most manufacturers simply modified their current designs to meet the new standard, and many got subpar results. When RIP-IT heard that the new BBCOR standard was going into effect, they threw out all of their old ideas and created brand new innovations that will provide players with the best bat that technology can offer. Beyond Composite Technology (BCT) is at the heart of the new Prototype. BCT gives players faster swing speed, better control and maximum distance on EVERY SWING. "Every Swing" is emphasized because there is NO break-in period with the Prototype. You will get maximum performance from swing 1 to swing 10,000. The sweet spot on many bats is very limited, giving you less average power across the entire barrel. The Prototype doesn't have a sweet spot at all... it has a sweet barrel. With this bat, players don't have to worry about hitting an exact spot; they simply need to make contact and watch the ball fly. The grip on the Prototype uses synthetic leather and memory foam to give players an incredible feel that customizes itself to their hands. This is truly the most innovative bat on the market today. The Prototype is BBCOR certified and is approved for High School and Collegiate play. This bat is backed by an exclusive 400 Day Manufacturer's Warranty. Free Shipping!

Pros: This bat is the BEST BAT EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BBCOR bats are usually not as good, but this bat is better than most BESR bats!!!! THis bat is so good, that the college team who used it had complaints from other teams saying the bats they were using werent allowed. Basically the bat so good, that other teams didn't think it was BBCOR

Cons: NADA!!!!!!!!!

Pros: Bought this version (the red one), the kids loved it in BP.

Cons: On the 3rd at-bat of its existence someone got jammed and it made a huge dent in the handle, bigger than a golf ball. Customer service was great, RIP-IT paid for shipping and took it in, but they replaced it with a white one. Not sure if I like that or not, they returned a different bat than I bought.

Pros: Incredible bat - 14 year old son loves it - great feel - great pop - loves 1 piece feel - bat does not lag behind - he has hit everything - best BBCOR. If you buy anything else...wasting you money...dollar for dollar, hit for hit, best BBCOR on the market - get the original...don't waste money on Prototype II

Cons: NOTHING - great bat...there is no bat out there worth 279 let alone 399...ignore the marketing of DeMarini...this little guy kicks their butt hands down everytime

Pros: This bat is a real performer and is well balanced. Grphics are sick.

Cons: I had to return the first w2e bought because the end cap glue was coming off. The replacement had a poor paint job and the end cap glue started coming off on the replacement bat. Grea bat and idea, RIP-IT needs to work on its quality.

Pros: No BBCOR is the "Best Ever" as we will NEVER see 350' 14U home runs again. This bat is however FAR BETTER than any other BBCOR bat our there. This bat absorbs shock, requires NO break in period, has a HUGE sweet spot, has a great feeling when the ball jumps off it, is a good value, is far better than the next version by Rip It and looks good.

Cons: The grip has a different feeling and took a couple of weeks to get where it felt comfortable

Pros: Just received this bat this afternoon. Took my son for one of his weekly instructional sessions where he used the bat for the first time. My son is 13 and this is his first BBCOR bat. Let me tell you that the ball explodes off this bat like a rocket launcher! The sound is like that of a wood bat. It seemed that no matter where the ball was hit, it was coming off the bat like it was all sweet spot! My son has always been a decent hitter, but I have NEVER seen him hit the ball with such power. This bat is the best bat that he has ever used, without a doubt! There is no vibration, or "stingers" when using this bat. The gel grip is superb. The main reason for purchasing this bat was to get him acclimated to swinging a heavier bat, then using his USSSA certified bat for games. But after witnessing what I saw tonight, this will be his bat for the season!

Cons: Absolutely nothing!

Pros: I am a high school coach that has been trying a lot of bats to see what would be the best fit for my team. After looking at the reviews on the Rip-It, I decided to take a whack at it and try it. I personally liked it for the money, but my players didn't. It was a little to end loaded for them and in the cold it rang them a little. I did like the 30 day try and send it back.

Cons: End loaded. Not as much pop as I thought when compared to other bats. Rang hands in the cold.

Pros: This bat is a MONSTER! Someone said that the days of 350 foot homeruns being hit by 14U players were long gone due to BBCOR bats... All I have to say is that comment is total BS... My son is a 13U player and has already hit a 420 foot blast with this bat! The bat is solid. It is a rocket launcher. Ball speed off this bat is incredible! No "ping" with this bat either... it has the sound of wood when hit correctly. Sweet spot seems to be anywhere on the barrel. It may not be for everyone... but this is my son's bat of choice.

Cons: Absolutely no cons with this ballistic bomber!

Pros: I bouoght this bat for my 16 year old son a few weeks ago. He has only had a few practices but LOVES this bat. He has mentioned that the grip is the best he has ever felt on a bat and he likes the design on the bat. He likes the way he hits with it as well.

Cons: None so far.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the RIP-IT Prototype BBCOR Baseball Bat: PROBR? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

How well does this bat hit? What bats does this one compare to, performance-wise? Renegade32
This bat has been rumored to be the best BBCOR bat out there. We have heard it has tons of pop and a very nice sweet spot. No negative feedback!
Kris
what did they change from the 2011 to the 2012 ? baseball dad
They had to meet the restrictions of BBCOR in the 2012 version. They were able to use a newer technology in the 2012 version to meet the BBCOR standards as close as they could.
Brett
Do you have a 2012 Rip-IT BBCOR size 32" 29oz? Skip
What we show on our website is what we have in stock. If we show something on there, it is ready to ship that same day.
Todd
Is the 2012 Rip-It bat available now for purchase? Fastball82
Yes, we list what sizes we have available at the current time.
John
How does the "30 Day" performance guarantee work for the RIP-IT bat? jon
If for some reason you are unhappy with the bat you are able to send it back for refund or an exchange.
John
I saw a review that was bad about the new 2012 bat. Why did the price drop and is the newer bat worse than the 2011 ed
Reviews will vary based on the individul writing it. The new 2012 has been re-certified and is at the very top edge bbcor standards. It is still one of the best BBCORs available.
Mark
when will you get 33 30 chris
We are expecting to get more late September or early October.
Mark
When does the Rip-it Prototype II come out. john
Those bats should be in stock within the first couple of weeks of October.
Kris
does this bat come in white cause you would sell alot more of these bad boys if they came in white tatedebomb
The new Prototype 2 will be white. We currently only have the red in stock.
Kris
Was the bat used in the 2011 season still allowed to be used in the 2012 season? Had heard that is was determined to be illegal in May, thus the reduced price on last years model. Curious
The 2011 model was BESR certified, the original 2012 model was, then there was some question, but it did get BBCOR re-certified. New there is the newest 2012 model that meets all requirements also.
LKH
how is the balance compared to the cat5 or 5150? BL777
Based on feedback from some customers, the Prototype has just a slightly more end-loaded feel to it. The Cat 5 and 5150 are both evenly balanced bats.
TJ
what is the difference between this model and the prototype 2 and which is better for a power hitter and does temp effect both bats the same high school ball is cold in ohio JBOHIO
Both of the Prototypes will be very good BBCOR bats. The red one may have a little more pop than the white. These bats will work in cold temps since they are alloy and not composite.
KG
If I got one for $149.99 but I didn't like the size, can I exchange it for a different size at the same price or do I have to pay more because the price is now $169.99 SFGiants
If you are just doing an exchange on the same bat, different size, you will not be charged anything. As a matter of fact if you use the return label in the box, we pay for the shipping back to us, shipping back to you again, is free too.
Linda
What bat do you think is better this bat or the marucci black? I know what they are both made out of but please just tell me which one is better. Imabeast
It really just depends on who you talk to. I like the feel of a stiffer bat so I personally like the Marucci Black more. That doesn't mean that the Prototype is a better bat though it is just going to have more flex which is going to be a different feel.
Sean
Will you be getting the 2012 Rip-It Prototype BBCOR in size 31", 28 oz? Casey Jones
Yes, we do have some coming, just haven't received the ETA on it yet though.
Linda
it says that there is a 30 day performance guarantee. does that mean that i can get fully reimbursed if i return it? nick
Yes, if you do not like this bat you can send it back for a refund or exchange.
KG
what was done to the bat to make it "recertified". Does recertification afffect performance? mark
They basically just sent the bat to be retested. The bat was just on the edge of passing the test. It is one of the hottest BBCOR bats out there.
K.B.
what does it mean prototype bbcor? is this legal according the high school federation? chuck
It's just Rip-It's patented metal and design of the bat. Yes, it is definitely legal for high school play in 2012.
Linda
Is this bat legal for high school play ? I have been told both yes and no ,and just want to be sure. Thanks Chappy
Yes, this bat is legal for high school play in 2012.
Linda
Seems we need a usssa bat for 14u that is from a approved maker ! Dose this bat fit the bill being a BBCOR bat ? DC 25
BBCOR bats will not have a USSSA stamp. If you are looking for a big barrel bat, you will need a Senior League or Youth Big Barrel bat. You can find all the USSSA bats on our website.
Kara
Who has the largest sweet spot the rip-it or the 5150 velo? hitter#4
I would give the edge to the Rip It Prototype.
K.B.
Does this bat require breaking in? John
No. All alloy bats do not require a break in period.
Kara
What is the difference between the red Prototype Rip-it and the white prototype Rip-it (besides the price)? Paul
The alloy is more tempered for a greater pop. The balance has changed a bit to give you more power through the ball. And they extended the sweet spot...it's huge on the II.
Linda
It says re-certified on the handle. Is it for sure H.S. certified? McHawkeye
Yes, when the high school association decided on the BBCOR ruling, some bats that had already been in production, had to be recertified. This is definitely BBCOR certified for 2012.
Linda
My players have seen other players with the CAT 5 Marucci White and think it is far superior than the Rip-It. I think it is just because of the name. Does this Ripi-It model outperform the Cat 5? Coach McKay
The Cat 5 is a great bat. As is the Prototype. I always recommend comparing reviews of other customers that have owned the bats.
Linda
Is the red bat the 2011 re certified model? I see the 2012 model is white but I want the 2011 model Charlie
Yes, the red one was recertified.
Linda
Is this bat banned for the 2012 season?? Braves #9
At this time we have not heard that this bat is banned
Sean
I heard that they were going to ban this bat, is that true? Joe
That is not true, at this time we have not heard of this bat being banned.
Sean
what is the difference between the 2012 rip-it prototype and the 2012 rip-it prototype II? max
The prototype II is going to be slightly more endloaded in feel compared to the prototype
Sean
I bought this bat, it dented very early in it's life (the 2nd day of use), and returned it to RIP -IT no problem. However, they sent the white bat to me and I sent them a red bat. The kids seem to think the red one has more pop in it. Why were we sent the white one and not the red? OVHS Baseball
Since I don't have information from their warranty dept about it. I can only assume they sent you the white one, because they have stopped making the red one, and were out of it.
Linda
Is the 2011 model still legal? BBOM
Yes. The PROBR is legal for High School and College play.
Kara
In considering this bat vs say Louisville Exogrid2 - listening to the audio, this bat (and the Prototype II) have a much lower ball-contact tone than the Exogrid (the Rip-It sounds more like a thump where the Exogrid is more of a ping). Is the ping from a thinner shell? Wouldn't a thinner shell allow more trampoline effect at the point of contact? EDS
This is a very good bat and has very good pop. This bat does have a ping sound to it and you're correct about thinner walls. This bat along with the prototype II are one of the best BBCOR bats out there.
KG
Why is this bat not listed on the manufacturers website? The prototype 2 is all over their site, but not this one. Lumberjack 19
The PROB was the first model they came out with that had the BBCOR certification. They feel they have improved on it with the PROBR. So they have stopped making the original.
Linda
Is the 2011 version legal for high school use in 2012? Mike
If you are referring to the gray 2011 model, that one was not BBCOR certified. All the 2012 Prototypes are BBCOR certified though.
TJ
I have narrowed my choices down to 3 bats. The prototype, TPX Omaha, and the Easton Typhoon. Which is the best nat in terms of performance. B
The Prototype would probably give you the most in terms of performance.
Shelbe
I'd have to go with the Prototype in this match up with the Omaha close behind.
Linda
Which bat is ;the best out of the three: the prototype, tpx omaha, or easton typhoon? q
This bat will be a very good BBCOR bat and has tons of pop. I suggest getting this bat over the other two due to durability and having more pop.
KG
I had a teammate who had this bat and I noticed it has an unusually small barell and a longer handle area. Is this going to make it more prone to break? bulls13
The longer handle will not make it more prone to breaking. The RIP-IT has a great track record and is very durable.
K.B.
What's the real difference between the probr and the probr2? mike
The Prob2 feels a little end loaded which will be more for power hitters. The Probr has a little more balanced feel compared to the Prob2.
KG
For warranty purposes, I have heard that Rip-IT may replace this bat with a different model. Is that true or do you know? Rip's Dad
Warranty replacements are done by the manufacturers. All manufacturers generally replace it with the same model being sent back to them, unless, they are either out of stock in the item, or it is a discontinued model. If that is the case most all of them then offer an upgrade to the most current model.
Linda
Does this bat meet USSSA standards for BBCOR bats? NightHawk7
USSSA and BBCOR are two different things. There will not be a BBCOR bat that has a USSSA stamp. All -3 adult bats will need to be BBCOR for high school and college play. USSSA bats will be -5 to -10 bats.
KG
Whats the Difference between the red RIP-IT and the White RIP-It Bat? Huntman7
The type of alloy used is more durable in the white, and the balance on it is more gearerd for power
KG
When will more 31/28 sizes be available in this bat. Dave
At this time we do not have any 31" PROBR bats on order
Sean
is this bat better than the one for 279.99? baseball7
The original Prototype was one of the hottest BBCOR bats on the market. So hot, it had to go back to get recertified due to it's outstanding performance. That was a little while ago and the following Prototypes that were produced didn't have quite the same amount of pop (including the PROBR). Based on customer feedback, the new PROB2 is slighly better performing than the re-certified PROBR.
TJ
Do u make a 31/28oz model of the 2012 rip-it prototype bbcor: PROB If so where can I get. Hard to find. Thanks, BD Bill
We have the 31-28 in the 2012 PROB2.
Linda
WHY DOESN'T THIS BAT COME IN 31/28?? Neil
This bat does come in 31/28..We are currently out of stock in that size right now. If we do not have the size you are looking for listed, that means that we are out of stock.
Ryan
what is the difference, besides price, between the adult bat & the other RIP IT bat? This woud be used by a highschool player Brian
These bats are both one piece alloy bats, the only difference is that maybe the probr may swing with a little more weight at the end of the bat.
Shelbe
What is the difference between the 2012 Prototype & Prototype II. The Rip-it website does not display the -3 Prototype that you're selling. Is it last years model recertified? Thanks in advance for your feedback. Pelon
These are very similar, from what we have seen the new model has a more end-loaded feel and will add more power.
KG
What is the difference between this bat and the Prototype2? If there is one which is a better bat? Nick
These bats are very similar, the Prototype 2 does have a little more end loaded feel compared to the first.
KG
I have two of the original PROB red BBCOR bats, what EXACTLY is the difference between those bats and this recertified model? Did they make ANY adjustments or modifications to the bat or did they simply confirm the weight and re-label it? Whatsthedeal?
This bat was recertified to meet the BBCOR standards.
Jennifer
Is this legal for high school use? jackie
Yes. It is BBCOR certified and legal in high school.
Tyler
What's the difference between this bat and the Prototype 2? doug
The PROBR is balanced. The PROB2 is slightly end loaded.
KB
How does this bat compare to the new Rip-It Prototype Air and the new Rawlings 5150? DL
The Rip-It Prototype BBCOR will be more end loaded than the Rip-It Prototype Air and the Rawlings 5150.
