Description

Louisville Slugger is raising the standards once again. The TPS Triton is made from the 3 piece design using the 3X Composite. The unique 3 piece design allows the barrel and the handle to be designed and built as individual units. The Bubble Transition Zone brings everything together to function as a more advanced one piece bat. The BT Zone functions as the bonding of the barrel and optimizes the relationship between the barrel and handle thus making a stiffer and stronger bat and transition area. Louisville Slugger uses exclusive computer designed patterns which precisely positions the angles of graphite layers, resulting in an extra long barrel with a huge sweet spot for outstanding performance. Everything from the bat design to the equipment used to manufacture the bat was developed by the Louisville Slugger Composites R&D Lab. Controlling every aspect of design and manufacturing ensures that every bat is consistently produced to Louisville Slugger's high quality standards. The Louisville Slugger TPS Triton comes with a full twelve (12) month manufacturer's warranty. Louisville Slugger: Performance Products for Championship Performances! Free Shipping.

Pros: My daughter loves this bat, used it all season. She was a junior in high school this year. Lots of pop. If you have had trouble with yours send it in to Louisville, they have great customer service. We sent back a catalyst last year that had the paint chip off after using it and they sent us the triton back. Great bat and great customer service!

Pros: Seemed to have a nice pop when I started hitting with it.

Cons: About 2 weeks ago caused tremendous recoil that started really hurting my hands despite using gloves. Yesterday with a solid hit, the bat nearly cracked in half right where the light blue & dark blue sections come together just above "the zone". I only had this bat for 52 days...extremely disappointed!:(

About the Brand

In 1842, J. Frederick Hillerich emigrated with his family from Baden-Baden, Germany to the United States. Eight years before, the 1834 Book of Sports had made its debut as the nation's first publication covering baseball. But when he arrived in Baltimore, J. Frederick Hillerich would never have dreamed of the future impact his family would have on America's favorite pastime.

After a short while, the Hillerichs moved to Louisville, where J. Fred started a woodworking shop in 1856. Two of his sons, Adam and John Andrew "Bud" were born in the United States and would later join their father in his business. By 1864 "J.F. Hillerich, Job Turning" was in operation and filled orders for businesses by custom-turning everything from balusters to bedposts.

The firm thrived, and by 1875 the little woodworking shop employed about 20 people. In 1880 Bud Hillerich, who was an amateur baseball player, became an apprentice in his father's shop. Young Bud made his own baseball bats along with bats for several of his teammates.

The debate over the origins of the first bat continues to generate controversy among baseball enthusiasts, but the younger Hillerich was most certainly involved in getting his father's business involved with what would become the company's signature item. According to company legend, the first bat was turned by Bud for Pete "The Old Gladiator" Browning in 1884. Browning was a star on Louisville's professional American Association team - the Eclipse. On a spring afternoon Bud, then seventeen, witnessed Browning break his favorite bat. Bud offered to make a bat for his hero, and Browning accepted. After the young wood shop apprentice lathed a quality stick from white ash, according to the story, Browning got three hits with it in the next game.

Louisville Slugger gloves are worn by more pitchers in Major League Baseball than any other glove.
