Description

Louisville Slugger continues to lead the industry with innovation and performance with their products. Louisville Slugger is building off the success of the Exogrid Technology and is introducing the H2 Hybrid Technology as its next step. The H2 Technology is a seamless 1 piece composite/alloy Hybrid design. The exclusive H2 design bonds the ST+20 barrel and the 3X Composite seamlessly, providing the outstanding performance of a 1 piece stiff handle design. The H2 design utilizes a full 3X Composite handle and transition area. The move to a full 100% graphite composite design in the transition allows for an ever stiffer handle than offered in the Exogrid. Graphite is lighter and stronger than aluminum, allowing for a stiffer handle. A stiff handle produces more barrel flex, resulting in maximum trampoline effect and, ultimately greater performance. The barrel section of the H2 Hybrid is constructed with the industry leading ST+20. Its outstanding strength and toughness provide the performance, feel and sound that top players demand. A lighter handle/transition means a longer barrel and sweet spot. The Louisville Slugger TPX H2 Hybrid comes with a full twelve (12) month manufacturer's warranty. Pros: My son likes the bat. We have always been happy with the TPX products.

Cons: Grip came loose in less than one week and had to be replaced. Couldn't believe it! Had read reviews on the poor grip, but, thought it would last at least one month.

Pros: My 13 year old sons first -3 bat. First game with it last weekend - 45 degrees outside and windy - first hit was a 350' plus bomb that wooed the crowd - 2 more singles after that. Very stiff bat must have fast powerful hands. not for a contact hitter. amazing pop and big sweet spot.

Cons: cheap grip - replaced with Limbsaver tentacle bat wrap. WOW!

Pros: I love this bat! I bought it for this season and it has tons of pop. The balanced feel makes it easier for me to keep my swing short.

Cons: The grip is already starting to wear out and I've only had it for three weeks. The bat takes a while to "break in" so don't give up on it until you've used it for a few weeks.

About the Brand

In 1842, J. Frederick Hillerich emigrated with his family from Baden-Baden, Germany to the United States. Eight years before, the 1834 Book of Sports had made its debut as the nation's first publication covering baseball. But when he arrived in Baltimore, J. Frederick Hillerich would never have dreamed of the future impact his family would have on America's favorite pastime.

After a short while, the Hillerichs moved to Louisville, where J. Fred started a woodworking shop in 1856. Two of his sons, Adam and John Andrew "Bud" were born in the United States and would later join their father in his business. By 1864 "J.F. Hillerich, Job Turning" was in operation and filled orders for businesses by custom-turning everything from balusters to bedposts.

The firm thrived, and by 1875 the little woodworking shop employed about 20 people. In 1880 Bud Hillerich, who was an amateur baseball player, became an apprentice in his father's shop. Young Bud made his own baseball bats along with bats for several of his teammates.

The debate over the origins of the first bat continues to generate controversy among baseball enthusiasts, but the younger Hillerich was most certainly involved in getting his father's business involved with what would become the company's signature item. According to company legend, the first bat was turned by Bud for Pete "The Old Gladiator" Browning in 1884. Browning was a star on Louisville's professional American Association team - the Eclipse. On a spring afternoon Bud, then seventeen, witnessed Browning break his favorite bat. Bud offered to make a bat for his hero, and Browning accepted. After the young wood shop apprentice lathed a quality stick from white ash, according to the story, Browning got three hits with it in the next game.

Louisville Slugger gloves are worn by more pitchers in Major League Baseball than any other glove.
