Description

The Rawlings VELO has earned a reputation for being one of the lightest and fastest swinging baseball bats on the market from year to year and the newest version completely backs it up. Never in the history of baseball have more pitchers touched 90+ mph so hitters have less time to react at the dish, and there's no time for error. If the game is evolving to become this fast, then shouldn't your bat be? Thanks to the VELO's Silver Comp Lite composite end cap that is fiber reinforced, unnecessary weight is removed from the end of the barrel, shifting the MOI towards the player's hands. If your increased swing speed or the awesome cosmetics don't turn heads at the ball field, the enhanced pop and resonating ping from the acoustic alloy surely will. Rawlings' acoustic alloy enhances the durability and is the loudest alloy on the market - the proof is in the ping! Not only does this VELO offer the loudest ping in the industry, but the precision laser pOp 2.0 creates a lasered groove through the sweet spot that increases flexibility and the trampoline effect. Extreme balance, an explosive swing speed, and massive pop are the three things that make up the winning combination the VELO offers. Rawlings: The Mark of a Pro!

Rawlings VELO Senior League Baseball Bat: SL7V34 features a -10 length to weight ratio, a 2 3/4 inch barrel diameter, and the USSSA 1.15 BPF Certification. The one-piece alloy construction is also backed by a full twelve (12) month manufacturer's warranty. Buy your VELO today with fast, free shipping!

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Rawlings VELO Senior League Baseball Bat: SL7V34? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Are there any technological differences between this bat and the 2016 model besides the color scheme and graphics? Will the 2017 model be available in a drop 8? Q
The 2017 Rawlings VELO Senior League Baseball Bat: SL7V34 features enhanced durability and precision technology that allows for an increase in flex and pop compared to the 2016 Rawlings VELO Senior League Baseball Bat: SLVR10. Unfortunately Rawlings did not produce the 2017 VELO in a -8 length to weight ratio so we will not have that size available in this model.
Angelique
I am trying to decide between two bats for a 9U boy entering kid pitch. What is the advantage of having the Rawlings VELO Senior League vs. the Rawlings 5150 Senior League bat? Russ
Both this 2017 Rawlings VELO Senior League Baseball Bat (SL7V34) and the 2017 Rawlings 5150 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL7534) will be excellent bats for use by your player. However, this VELO will feature a few more extra technologies on it. Those extra technologies will include a composite end-cap to make the bat feel more balanced swinging overall and updated pOp 2.0 technology to allow for more flex and performance. If you are wanting to get the bat with the most technology, I would recommend this VELO.

My son in about 5'2" and 85 lbs. What size should I get and is this a great bat for him? He play 13U select. Bigc
The recommended length for him is 30 inches. Depending on whether your son will be transitioning to high school baseball shortly, this bat may be a bit light in weight for him. In high school, he will be required to use a -3.
Tori
Our son will play 12U Majors this year. He is 5'3" and weighs 107 lbs. What size bat is recommended in a -10: 30" or 31"? Cool Breeze
For a player of his size, I'd suggest going with the 2017 Rawlings VELO Senior League Baseball Bat: SL7V34 in the 31" 21 oz. size.
Marcus
My son is 9 yrs old playing 9u travel ball. He swings a 28/18. Should I get this bat or the Marucci Hex Alloy? joe
Both the 2017 Rawlings VELO Senior League Baseball Bat: SL7V34 and the Marucci Hex Alloy are one-piece alloy bats with balanced swing weights. Both of these bats are great ones to consider and it would really come down to personal preference. Would recommend reading into any and all customer reviews that are posted on site to help gain a better understanding on how others feel the two bats perform.
Cameron
In regards to the SL7V34 vs. the SL7V12, what are their true weight on scale for the 28/16 (SL7V12) & the 28/18 (SL7V34)? I know sometimes the drop weight is not the true weight and trying to see the difference. Leatherwood
The 2017 Rawlings VELO Senior League Baseball Bat: SL7V34 is going to weigh about half an ounce more than the listed weight, and the SLV712 is going to weigh close to an ounce more than the listed weight.
Logan
How does the Velo compare to the Marucci Hex Alloy? Which bat bat will feel lighter in a drop 10? Lastly will the 5/8 feel any different in swing weight form the 3/4? DavidB
The 2017 Rawlings VELO Senior League Baseball Bat (SL7V34) is very comparable to the 2016 Marucci Hex Alloy Senior League Baseball Bat (MSBAHAX10) in that they are both one piece aluminum designs with balanced swing weights. Where the Velo will be different is in its Silver Comp Lite End Cap and Acoustic Alloy. Due to the composite end cap it will be a little bit more balanced the the Hex and the swing weight will feel very similar in the 2 5/8" and 2 3/4" barrels.
Carter
How does this compare to a 5150? Puma
The 2017 Rawlings VELO Senior League Baseball Bat: SL7V34, when compared to the 5150, are very similar bats. The main difference is the composite end cap used on the 2017 Rawlings VELO Senior League Baseball Bat: SL7V34. This gives the bat a more balanced swing weight and slightly larger sweet spot when compared to the 5150.
Cameron
Does this bat deliver that loud ping sound when it hits a ball? Eric
Yes with the 2017 Rawlings VELO Senior League Baseball Bat being an alloy bat, it makes a loud ping sound when you hit a ball.

The 2017 Rawlings VELO Senior League Baseball Bat (SL7V34) will be approved for play in USSSA in 2018.

With this bat being the 2017 model, does the one year warranty still apply if purchased in December of 2017 or into 2018? TL
The 2017 Rawlings VELO Senior League Baseball Bat: SL7V34 will feature a 12 month warranty through Rawlings from the date of purchase if a new model is being selected. Thus a bat purchased today would have a warranty from Rawlings until 12/4/18.

Need an expert opinion. My son plays 10U travel ball for BPA and USSSA and I am in the market to get him a decent bat. He currently has been using the Miken Freak 2 3/4 (Black and green) for the past 2 yrs. Great bat with good pop but it was discontinued a long time back. In fact one of our kids has a Demarini CF8 that I would put his Freak up against any day of the week. However he is ready for a new one I think. I like the Rawlings and have seen good performance from them in the past (awesome sound). The only negative thing I have ever read or seen is some dent easily. I noticed you guys have lowered 2017 prices. So I am interested in two drop -10 senior 2 3/4 models. One is the Velo SL7V34 and the other is the 5150 SL7534. Can you tell me what is the difference and which is the better performer in your opinion? Are both subject to dent easily? Thanks for your help!! Tracy
The difference between the 2017 Rawlings VELO Senior League Baseball Bat: SL7V34 and the 2017 Rawlings 5150 is the type of aluminum used and the Velo features a composite end cap. The composite end cap will create a more balanced feel over the Rawlings 5150 and the Acoustic Alloy will feature higher performance than the 5150. All in all the Rawlings Velo is going to be a higher end bat. We have not taken many warranty replacements for denting on either.
Carter
Does this bat need to be broken in? ddem
The 2017 Rawlings VELO Senior League Baseball Bat: SL7V34 will not require a break in period.

About the Brand

Rawlings is a major manufacturer of competitive team sports equipment and apparel for baseball, basketball, and football, as well as licensed MLB, NFL, and NCAA retail products. Rawlings is a major supplier to professional, collegiate, interscholastic, and amateur organizations worldwide, including the Official Baseball Supplier to Major League Baseball.

The first real innovation in glove making occurred in 1912 when Rawlings Sporting Goods Company introduced the "Sure Catch" glove, which was "endorsed by leading players all over the country." The Sure Catch was a one-piece glove with sewn-in finger channels and looked better suited for a duck's foot than a man's hand. Catchers' mitts used at the time were large and bulky with a single leather thong passing for a web.

In 1920, Bill Doak, a journeyman pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, approached Rawlings with an idea for improving the baseball glove from a mere protective device to a genuine aid in fielding. The "Bill Doak" model was so revolutionary that it stayed in Rawlings' line until 1953. Its key feature was a multi-thong web laced into the first finger and thumb, which created for the first time in baseball's young life, a natural pocket.

In 1925, Rawlings unveiled a three-fingered fielder's glove, and ten years later improved the Bill Doak model with a two-piece leather web. At the same time, the "T" web became a rage for first basemen's mitts. The pocket underwent a pronounced change in 1941 when the Trapper Mitt, also known as the Claw, appeared. The "Deep Well" pocket was so unique that Rawlings quickly patented it. The design was improved in 1950 by adding a leather piece across the top. Another significant creation occurred in 1948 with the three-fingered Playmaker. A five-fingered fielder's model, with all fingers laced together, provided greater pocket control.

The six-fingered Trap-Eze evolved in the 1960's. In more recent years, Rawlings produced the Fastback design, which gives a glove a snugger fit, greater extension, and overall control. The Holdster is a slot through which a finger can be extended for additional protection from impacts on the pocket. Then, there is the Edge-U-Cated Heel with its extended U-shaped lacing and the Pro H Web and much-copied Basket Web.

Some of Rawlings's more recent glove innovations also include the unique Spin-Stopper design which reduces ball spin when the ball hits the glove, and the Cantilever glove design feature that provides a cushioned area between the hand and the glove's palm area. In all, Rawlings has produced and patented more functionally innovative glove features and designs than that of any other glove manufacturer. The result is that the modern baseball glove is much larger, more comfortable, better padded, and made to last far longer than its ancestors. It is not uncommon to see today's Major League players wearing the same Rawlings glove they wore during their college playing days. In fact, Rawlings is the #1 glove in the major leagues. Rawlings maintains about 65 models of baseball and softball mitts and gloves in its line. The prototypes of virtually all of them have been field-tested by professionals before entering a sporting goods dealer's inventory.
