Good mid-range choice(27/-11) velo Mike Coach

Pros: My 6yr old has the 5150 27/-11 and threat 28/-12. But this is his go to Bat. Consistently hitting baseballs to the outfield. Good pop for USA bat. Other owned bats 2018 voodoo one(28/18), 2018 5150(28/18, and 2018 prodigy(27/16).

Cons: USA bat! His real go bat. Is the CAT8. But the velo gets real close!

Good bat for the middle of the road (29/18.) CY Coach

Pros: Slightly lighter than our 5150 with weight coming in at 19.6 ounces. Seems to have good pop along with good swing weight. A bunch of the kids on the team all took turns hitting with it and liked it.

Cons: Still going to get vibrations when hitting off the end cap or handle. Was hitting yesterday in 50 degree temps and it rung my sons hands pretty good a few times. I am sure the cold temps played a large part of it.

Rating of Rawlings Velo bat Amy Flick Parent

Pros: My son loves the bat so much. He hits dingers into the out field, and he hits a lot of home runs he will not change bats he just wants the same one.

Cons: He doesn’t think there’s any cons about this bat.

So far so good.... Will Coach

Pros: got this a couple of weeks ago in preparation for the baseball season. My son used a 27/16 last year, and bumped up to a 28/17 this year. We have hit in the cold and rain, and the bat has way more pop than the Prodigy he used the last 2 season. Excited to see what it can do on a warm day.

Cons: miss hits do sting, but that doesn't matter what bat you are using.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Rawlings VELO -11 USA Baseball Bat: US9V11? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

The velo-10 and velo -11 is the same bat right the only difference is the weight right? Because looking at the pics it looks like the 2 5/8" barrel in the drop 10 is bigger. Coach Rich
The difference between the -10 and -11 Rawlings VELO USA Baseball Bat is the length to weight ratio (the drop). Both barrels are 2 5/8" diameter.
Dani
Can you expect the same performance in the current year Velo -11 as the current year Velo -10? How do the current VELOs compare, performance wise, to last year's bat? Mike
Yes, the performance of the -10 and the Rawlings VELO -11 USA Baseball Bat: US9V11 models should be very similar. The drop 10 option will potentially have the upper hand in durability as a result of having an additional ounce in the construction though. Furthermore, we have seen the performance to be very similar among last year's bat and this year's models.
Tyler
Would you please tell me the actual weight of the 27/16? I assume it is heavier than stated. We have a really small 8u player and are looking for the lightest bat possible. Coach
The Rawlings VELO -11 USA Baseball Bat: US9V11 will weigh an estimated 2 ounces heavy. This is within the industry standard.
Daveron
My player weighs 50 lbs. He currently swings the Rawlings Tee Ball Bat (26"/15 oz). Would you recommend this bat for a 7 year old going into coach pitch? Armando Merino
Based on your player's age, We would recommend going to the 27" length of this Rawlings VELO -11 USA Baseball Bat (US9V11). As long as the 16 oz weight can be handled, I think a 27" version of this bat will be great for your player.
Ben
What does it mean by half and half construction? herc kalos
The Rawlings VELO -11 USA Baseball Bat (US9V11) is a one-piece aluminum bat but it features a composite end cap. This design helps make the bat feel incredibly balanced.
Taylor
Will the Rawlings Velo or the DeMarini Sabotage be a more forgiving bat for a 45 pound 8 year old? Which one has more weight distributed towards the handle? Jarrod Harpole
Both this Rawlings VELO -11 USA (US9V11) and the DeMarini Sabotage -12 USA (WTDXUML) will be very well balanced, so it's hard to say which has the edge there. I would lean slightly towards the Rawlings however in my opinion. As for more forgiving, the DeMarini Sabotage will have better vibration dampening due to its two-piece design vs the one-piece design of the Rawlings, so I would give a slight edge to that bat there.
Kyle
Any bat that is 2 5/8" must have a BBCOR stamp on it for our league. I can't seem to find whether this bat has it or not? Davis
All BBCOR bats will feature a 2 5/8" barrel diameter with a -3 length to weight ratio. This Rawlings VELO -11 USA Baseball Bat: US9V11 does feature a 2 5/8" barrel diameter but it is not BBCOR stamped as it has a -11 length to weight ratio. The Rawlings VELO BBCOR model is the Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB9V3.
Cameron
Want Rawlings baseball bat 30'' 2 5/8 barrel. Plays a lot travel, what bat to pick? john barrientos
A Rawlings bat with a 2 5/8" barrel diameter would be USA certified, especially if you are seeking a 30 inch 20 ounce model. The Rawlings VELO -11 USA Baseball Bat: US9V11 would be an option that would meet your specs. If you are needing a USSSA bat, then the selection becomes very limited with a 2 5/8" barrel diameter.
Cameron
Can it be personalized? MIKE
This Rawlings VELO -11 USA Baseball Bat (US9V11) is eligible for a Custom Bat Knob that you can design yourself for an extra $9.99.
Frank
I struggling to decide which one to pick between the Rawlings -10 and the Rawlings -11 Velo. I know it's 1oz weight difference between the two, but is there a big difference between the two? He's 8 years old, 4'6 " and 68 lbs. I'm considering 29 inch, but should I get 28'' instead? Mark
There won't be a big difference between the Rawlings VELO -11 USA Baseball Bat: US9V11 and the -10 version. Based on his age, the -11 might be a better fit for him and a little easier to swing. A 29'' is the appropriate length based on his height and weight.

About the Brand

Rawlings is a major manufacturer of competitive team sports equipment and apparel for baseball, basketball, and football, as well as licensed MLB, NFL, and NCAA retail products. Rawlings is a major supplier to professional, collegiate, interscholastic, and amateur organizations worldwide, including the Official Baseball Supplier to Major League Baseball.

The first real innovation in glove making occurred in 1912 when Rawlings Sporting Goods Company introduced the "Sure Catch" glove, which was "endorsed by leading players all over the country." The Sure Catch was a one-piece glove with sewn-in finger channels and looked better suited for a duck's foot than a man's hand. Catchers' mitts used at the time were large and bulky with a single leather thong passing for a web.

In 1920, Bill Doak, a journeyman pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, approached Rawlings with an idea for improving the baseball glove from a mere protective device to a genuine aid in fielding. The "Bill Doak" model was so revolutionary that it stayed in Rawlings' line until 1953. Its key feature was a multi-thong web laced into the first finger and thumb, which created for the first time in baseball's young life, a natural pocket.

In 1925, Rawlings unveiled a three-fingered fielder's glove, and ten years later improved the Bill Doak model with a two-piece leather web. At the same time, the "T" web became a rage for first basemen's mitts. The pocket underwent a pronounced change in 1941 when the Trapper Mitt, also known as the Claw, appeared. The "Deep Well" pocket was so unique that Rawlings quickly patented it. The design was improved in 1950 by adding a leather piece across the top. Another significant creation occurred in 1948 with the three-fingered Playmaker. A five-fingered fielder's model, with all fingers laced together, provided greater pocket control.

The six-fingered Trap-Eze evolved in the 1960's. In more recent years, Rawlings produced the Fastback design, which gives a glove a snugger fit, greater extension, and overall control. The Holdster is a slot through which a finger can be extended for additional protection from impacts on the pocket. Then, there is the Edge-U-Cated Heel with its extended U-shaped lacing and the Pro H Web and much-copied Basket Web.

Some of Rawlings's more recent glove innovations also include the unique Spin-Stopper design which reduces ball spin when the ball hits the glove, and the Cantilever glove design feature that provides a cushioned area between the hand and the glove's palm area. In all, Rawlings has produced and patented more functionally innovative glove features and designs than that of any other glove manufacturer. The result is that the modern baseball glove is much larger, more comfortable, better padded, and made to last far longer than its ancestors. It is not uncommon to see today's Major League players wearing the same Rawlings glove they wore during their college playing days. In fact, Rawlings is the #1 glove in the major leagues. Rawlings maintains about 65 models of baseball and softball mitts and gloves in its line. The prototypes of virtually all of them have been field-tested by professionals before entering a sporting goods dealer's inventory.
