Between the two, I would say he would be most likely to use the PAPI34 because of the maple design. Maple tends to be harder than ash and also runs a bit heavier as well. Both bats will feature the same specs, with the main difference being the material used in the construction of the bats (ash vs. maple).

Unfortunately, it is extremely hard to measure the sweet spots on bats (especially wood bats since they are all natural products). The traditional way of thinking would be that longer barrel lengths produce bigger sweet spots. This Marucci David Ortiz Ash Wood Baseball Bat (DO34 Adult) has a pretty decent barrel length and I do not believe its sweet spot would be terribly lacking when compared to any other wood bat out there on the market.
