The CAT9 is a true stalwart within the world of USSSA Baseball. It has a 1-piece, all-alloy design, and specifically, the bat is going to be made from Marucci's AZR Alloy material. Marucci gets after it when designing the alloy for their bats and this AZR material is no exception. The alloy undergoes a 3-stage thermal treatment process that ultimately produces a bat with a better feel, more forgiveness and more performance.
As well, Marucci bucks the common thought that a one-piece bat is going to sting the batter's hands on a miss-hit. They have built this CAT9 with their AV2 anti-vibration knob and it keeps nearly all vibrations out of the handle of the bat. When a player swings this one-piece bat, they'll get to enjoy the stiff feel at contact with the baseball. As well, they'll enjoy a sting-free experience that is just as good as what is felt when using multi-piece bats.
This drop 5 bat is an excellent selection for a pre-teen (11 or 12 years old) that is advanced in their skills and ready for a heavier bat. As well, it would work great for a 13 or 14-year-old player that looks to extend their playing career beyond just the USSSA ranks. Be sure to know that a drop 5 model of bat (or a BBCOR) will be required for use in the 14U division of USSSA baseball.
