Pros: This bat is extremely balanced. I have swung a couple different BBCOR bats and they tend to be endloaded. Marucci seems to have the balance down. Graphics are really cool. I used to swing the CAT 5, but decided to go with a two piece. First hitting session I felt the bat performed better than expected. Similar pop in the barrel to the CAT 5, but the Black has a little more flex. Great all around bat. Highly recommend.
Cons: None yet. Black bats have a tendency to look bad after hitting for awhile. Hope the paint does not chip
dr.bleachers
Pros: The black is balanced unlike alot of bats.Good pop, love the sound the ball coming off the bat.A very good price for a bat of its caliber
Cons: none but might chip after awhile
pb23
Pros: Absolutely sick bat. Just received it in the mail today. Huge pop for a bbcor, and has some flex to it to. The knob actually works to prevent vibration, and the grip is very sticky. It will take some getting used to, if never owning a bbcor before though.
Cons: none yet
cotter19
Pros: good pop, no vibration on balls off the hands, comfortable grip
Cons: a little end heavy, small sweet spot
grod
Pros: Good pop, Balanced, Good grip, Nice features, Good flex, Overall good bat!!!!
Cons:
baseball2790
Pros: Has good pop no matter where you hit it. when squared up the ball flies. the grip feels amazing and there is very little vibration.
Cons: It is a little more end loaded than i expected since everything i heard was about how well balanced it is but still swings surprisingly comfortably
Snake
Pros: nicely balnced, cool graphics, great pop
Cons: not yet:)
J-Oaks
Pros: Just tried this bat today at a BBCOR demo day and out off all the eastons and demarinis and all the bats, the black was the best. if you already have a quick swing, this is the one. It flies off the bat more than any one i tried. I will purchase this soon
Cons: not much people respect marucci as a metal bat, and its hard to find in stores, gotta order it here
John
Pros: Balanced, Best Pop out of all the BBCOR bats that I tried
Cons: none
j-mac
Pros: the bat has great pop. when you hit it hard the knob keeps it from vibrating. it is AWESOME! I LOVE IT!
Cons: NONE
TMAN
Pros: The Marucci is everything that has been said about it. Ball jumps off this bat, with BBCOR bats you have to square the ball up point blank
Cons: none
DTRAIN
Pros: this bat is amaizing, it is extremley balenced and has amaizing pop
Cons: nooooone
A2

Cons: The barrel is not long
LCHS14
Pros: Amazingly balanced, Perfect grip, HUGE sweetspot, the sound of the ball coming off of this bat is perfect, The best BBCOR there is.
Cons: Absoulutley none.
BaseballDad
Pros: Nice grip, well balanced, good pop, light swing weight and large sweetspot. Size compares to the black BESR Exo-Grid. Moved from a Nike M1 to this and it has a lot more pop.
Cons: None.
Bigglee
Pros: Great Balance and pop. Larger sweet spot
Cons: I wish it had as nice of a grip like the RIP It.
The hit machine
Pros: well balanced ,good grip
Cons: None so far
JAXN_36
Pros: Great bat most pop of any BBCOR I have tried excellent balance. Spend the $$$$
Cons: Its only January :(
Dylan
Pros: Me personaly as a power hitter i prefer this bat over the bats is because it feels great and hits just like a meatl bat the ball really takes off this bat no joke. All hitters should have confidence with this particular bat.
Cons: But then again it isnt quiet as good as a meatl bat you still have to muscle up on the ball for it to go
Con
Pros: This bat is sick. Cool look, great grip and great pop. Definitely suggest this to a serious ball player
Cons: A little end heavier than I thought but still a lot lighter feel then the other bbcors
CarolinA BabY !
Pros: Good feel when contact is made on sweet spot, the price isn't too bad.
Cons: It's BBCOR and all BBCOR bats are made to perform basically the same. They have pretty much the same pop as well as a small 3 inch sweet spot- all are made to specific specifications to reduce the quality for safety reasons. I'm reading the delusional reviews claiming "Company A's Bat" has great pop(same as a BESR)and another claims "Company B's Bat" is awesome(No different than BESR.) "Company C's Bat" owner claims his bat is amazing, best bat he ever had. Let me sum up why performance can not be better from one BBCOR to the next in Two words-"LAW SUIT" if just one of the BBCOR bats are not identical to the others BBCOR's and a player gets hurt, the Bat Company will be sued for Million$$$. They are all the same and not close to the BESR bats, so stop kidding yourselves -Shop for a bat that feels good in your hands, balanced the way you prefer but forget about looking for pop, it's not out there.
Correa
Pros: As a top ranked high school baseball player, I would definitely recommend this bat. Great pop and is suprisingly light.
Cons: The grip is falling apart.
Big#3
Pros: The bat is great, i have really been on a hitting streak and each time i go out to hit in the cage, the bat seems to prove it's self more and more. Love the bat, never gonna go back to demarini.
Cons: None really, when i hit with this, i feel on top of the world, i swung with my cousins cf5, and the truth is, i hated it. I felt like i had no power behind the bat, it felt really light for a -3
j
Pros: great bat so good best bat ever love it so much its the greatest fantastic
Cons:
MarucciGuy18
Pros: None i can specifically think of.
Cons: Way overpriced, hits worse than wood. Get the Cat %
Jazz
Pros: Balance
Cons: Very average bat--don't believe the Marucci hype
thtbaseballguy
Pros: very evenly balanced. my first bbcor and i need to get used to it. Much different feel compared to the white marucci. I like how the black one feels more though because of the extended sweet spot and half and half feel. Zero sting, decent pop, but definitely not the pop compared to the old bats (as to be expected). Great look, great, comfortable grip, and i would say good pop for a bbcor. Go check out the easton s1, combat b3. I would say that those this bat and the two others i just said are the most evenly weighted, and have the most pop of any of the bbcors
Cons: Even though the sweet spot is bigger, you still have to square it up in the exact spot to get the sound, feel, and output that you would like. If you hit it in the other spots it will still feel as if you hit it on the sweet spot, but it just wont feel as good as the other spot.
swag
Pros: this bat has a ton of pop. the sweetspot is huge. have tried cf5 voodoo cat 5 some cheap models and this one has the biggest sweet spot best balance and the best exit speed out of all of them
Cons: if i find one i'll say it.
BaseballMom
Pros: Good balance, great feel, son loved it.
Cons: Broke on second day of high school tryouts. Bat less than 2 months old. Used a few times indoors for hitting lessons, and taken great care of at home. Hard to find Marucci customer service number, then put on hold for a long time, then told someone would get back to me in a few days regarding warranty. Better service from Easton when we had an issue with previous bat after almost a year of hard use. Would hesitate to buy Marucci again.
mazzy768
Pros: The black is balanced nicely.I see more speed in my 14 yr olds swing. The ball flies when hit square and has no vibration. The black has a cool solid sound and the finish is top notch.
Cons:
hard2getout
Pros: The -3 BBCOR Marucci Black is the Cadillac of bats. If you want a bat that is excellent in many ways and demand quality look no further than the black.
Cons:
Anonymous
Pros: Great balance, very nice sweet spot. No joke my first swing hit 400 Hr
Cons: A little to much gloss
AQuiggles11
Pros: This bat has perfect balance
Cons: paint chips easy
Steve
Pros: Really good pop!
Cons: Tape on handle coming loose.
J-ROD
Pros: This is honestly one of the best bbcor bats out there . Even for a bbcor it hits beautifully . The grip is nice , and the no vibration thing in the handle end helps a lot . Overall a great bat !
Cons: The paint chipped relatively easy in my first use of it in the batting cages , but hits just as good either way !
squidward
Pros: Very smooth swing, and a NICE sweet spot.
Cons: As all bats do, if pitch is inside it will hurt a little when contact is made.
batman
Pros: got this bat, and first thing I did was go out to the field and took some BP. Im 5' 8'' 150 and I got the 32 inch. Feels pretty balanced. I didn't hit one, not two, but 3 balls off a 300 foot wall, all in the same spot.this is my first Marucci and I jump in it. Awesome Bat. GO MARUCCI!
Cons: paint chipped, but then what do you pay 300 bucks for???
44 Beast
Pros: This bat is a little top heavy. Great pop,the grip feels great and the bat makes a nice sound.
Cons: The paint chips, but its going to happen sooner or later so don't worry about it.
Arp Tiger
Pros: Kids on team seem to like it I would say it has taken number two spot of bats on team Marucci Cat 5 still the favorite but both are use more than any other bats.
Cons: none so far
KB24
Pros: None.
Cons: not performing well... chips a lot... got bat like 2 months ago and most of bat paint... DO NOT GET THIS BAT!
mr. clutch
Pros: amazing pop extremely balanced compared to all the other bbcors definitely worth the price had the 5150 and this bat is way better
Cons: black bats look bad after hitting for a while more exspensive than 5150
Big DAWG
Pros: good balance good pop for a bbcore and looks good
Cons: paint chips
pedroia fan
Pros: Awesome bat, very well balanced. Bat has a solid feel and great swing weight. Since all BBCOR bats will perform about the same don't believe the nonsense out there about pop etc.
Cons: absolutely NONE
TheBeast
Pros: Great pop love this bat feels good when you hit the ball has amazing balance nice sound it makes and when u hit the sweet spot you know it, i hit one off the end cap and it still flew off this bat i love it<3
Cons: the grip gets a little sweaty
bomberboy13
Pros: The best bat i have ever swung. It has a great feel to it and preforms extremely well. Dont believe the demerini or easton hype this is the best bat ou there. The anti vibe nob is the best and when you hit it on the sweet spot you just walk to third!
Cons: Marks show up easily but non really
Cole
Pros: Great pop and feels good I had one break in half and right off the bat when I called marucci they gave me a warrenty form to fill out on line and send in we got another new bat in 5 days after i sent mine back GREAT SERVICE.
Cons: Does scratch easy but when you hit the ball and let your bat go to run all bats get scratched up
Bret (average high school baseball player)
Pros: this bat is a very very good bbcor. I have hit with multiple bats such as the rip it, voodoo, cat 5, z1000, rawlings, and the power brigade series. The marucci have a very good feel to them and the balls jumps off the bat fast. Im just a high school player here and ive put 4 out at about 375 ft in 3 bp sessions.
Cons: marks easily, little end heavy, lame graphics
pedroia
Pros: great bat
Cons:
I can't think of a nickname
Pros: -Looks good -VERY balanced -Bigger barrel than the cat 5
Cons: -The Marucci Cat5 has a much better feel when you hit it than the black. There isn't much difference in performance, but the Cat5 felt more like a besr bat than the black. I would recommend either bat though.
dawgcoach
Pros: Extremely balanced bat. No end loaded feel. Lets you get through the zone quicker. Nice look and feel. A lot of pop compared to other BBCOR. Two piece design with vibration dampener in the knob absorbs sting from off center hits. Stiff flex design punches the ball.
Cons: Black bats look cool until they undergo a lot of use. Curious to see how the paint holds up.
Bomber 16
Pros: Just got the bat absolutely love it. Its not a joke when they say it flies off the bat, not with cage balls though. Great grip and best pop in the biz. Amped for the season.
Cons: Looks boring but performance is all that matters
alex
Pros: hits well
Cons: paint chipped very bad. Umpires in middle school would not allow me to use the bat said it look like dents to them. Need help now
usbjeff
Pros: great balance seems to have good pop with good sweet spot. So far so good for our first Marucci.Only time will tell.
Cons: first one we purchased cracked with in 40 cuts at the gages. But Just-Bats got us a new one very quickly.
CatFan
Pros: Got this for my son to use for his JV season and he and about 5 team mates are very pleased with it. I am not sure there is much difference between the bats other than how they feel to you. You have to be a sound, fundamental hitter now.
Cons: None so far.
JuniorBall
Pros: Best BBCOR bat I have seen. Bat has a lot of pop and my son is really hitting the ball great with it. His team members are starting to use it to.
Cons: Chips easy
Bonez
Pros: The ball really flies off the bat. It is very balance Ive had a few shots since i got it i wouldn't want any other bat.
Cons: Paint chipped a little but oh well
baseball32
Pros: honestly who doesn't want this bat soon i will be posting a review and a live footage hitting with this bat on youtube of me hitting with this bat and please view it @TheBigHitsCrew but, overall it has amazing pop great balance and the anti vibration knob makes this bat over whelming also has a composite handle.
Cons: The paint will chip but don't worry it does not effect the bat.
STUD
Pros: This bat performs just like an BESR bat it has extreme pop and is very balanced
Cons: none great bat you still get pop off of the handle
johnny
Pros: The bat is so end loaded, if you can hit it square, it had good pop.
Cons: Whomever is telling you this bat is balanced does not know what that means. This is one of the most end loaded bats we have ever tried to use.
UNHAPPY
Pros: BAT WAS GOOD UNTIL IT BROKE REALY HAD TROUBLE WITH WARRANTY DEPT. WHEN I FINALLY GOT THE BAT SENT IN THEY DID NOT CALL FOR 2 WEEKS WHEN I CALLED THEM BACK THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT GIVE ME ANOTHER BAT UNTIL SEPT.
Cons:
jHENDO
Pros: high school freshman very balanced swing great pop no vibration had first homer of the season over 361 sign
Cons: none
Bostons Bombers
Pros: excellent pop first time i used this bat in a game i hit an inside pitch off the handle/marruchi sign on handle and it still flew a line drive over the ss head...............great weight distribution i have a 32 27 and it feels like a 32 20
Cons: alot of paint chips but that has nothing to do with changing bat performance
Fuzzy
Pros: My XL2 broke so I turned to my friends Marucci Black and went 3-3 first game. Great bat and perfectly balanced! 300 bucks is nothing considering it isn't going to break, like most Eastons..
Cons: Grip wears away after 200 cuts
Bigboss18
Pros: This bat is A VERY TOP QUALITY BAT, It has its ups and downs but is a solid bat. I have been comparing the Rip-It Prototype 2 and I would prefer the Marucci Black in BBCOR. I do have the Rip-it in BBCOR and it sounds dead but the ball will fly. With the marucci it feels like i lighter bat but it isnt. very stable and balanced bat biggest sweet spot i have seen on a marucci compared to the Voodoo,Rip-it,OxO grid, easton and out of these five bats i would chosse the the Marucci Black. And the tip of the marucci has yet to come off like some bats. I am stocked to see the 2013 edition of these bats.
Cons: Black paint doesn't look good after a while. The paint will come off if you do not MAINTAIN IT which means cleaning it after use. Cap may or may not fall off. Way to prevent this is not throwing any BBCOR bat that will prevent the cap issue. Sence this costs a Pretty penny do treat it like it is one of your own.
manzhall
Pros: It is a beautiful, sleek looking bat when you first get it, and everybody on the team likes this new bat that no on has. Pop is decent
Cons: Must be cheap paint because i've had it sine it first came out, and now you can hardly see the "Black" on the bat anymore. There is scratches everywhere. Has decent pop. Cat 5 is more balanced. This bat would be slightly on the end loaded side.
JK
Pros: light
Cons: small barrel. felt weak. not for a power hitter. small sweet spot but good if you hit it exactly. wood is better
Mason
Pros: This bat has killer pop for a bbcor bat and has a pretty big sweetspot. Amazing grip, good sound. Hits a lot like the cat 5 but has more flex.
Cons: Slightly end loaded, but if you can tolerate it then its good.
Anonymous
Pros: It has great pop and is balanced
Cons: Paint chips
dsahgdjfjdf
Pros: good grip, nice feel
Cons: small sweet spot
Eagle Boy
Pros: Balance Pop
Cons: If you are used to swinging a one piece bat or two piece with a stiff handle flex you will hate this bat. The handle flex in this bat is extremely low and every time you hit with it you can feel the barrel bending back. This is the only reason i did not like this bat. I just upgraded from this bat to an Easton XL1 and I am loving it!!!
Colby Cheese
Pros: Great pop off the bat. Always a solid hit anywhere on the barrel. Plus it has a amazing grip.
Cons:
BIGPANDA5436
Pros: Balance, Grip, Great Pop, Best BBCOR bat that I have used, and I have used the Demarini Voodoo (2012) (second favorite bat), TPX EXO grid 2, and the Demarini CF5 (2012).
Cons: None other than it is a BBCOR.
black magic
Pros: i'm thirteen and i purchased thise bat and have hit five 320 ft plus homeruns in 8 games works great feels great id reccomend it
Cons: i like gripping the bat really low on the hanle and without the flared knob it uncomfortable...paint chips.. slippery
Rampage Ramsy
Pros:
Cons: Paint Chips
Guchi
Pros: This bat is ok. It has good pop for bbcor. It has a good amount of sweet spot and is insanely balanced.
Cons: After Hitting for a while it scratches super easy and does not look very nice. The paint also chips when it is thrown into the dirt on the after swing.
yankeestu
Pros: Nice Pop Very well blanced probably the best bat under $300
Cons: Tape on the top part of the handle peels, but if you put a piece over it youre fine Gets marked eaisly
Moonshot
Pros: This bat is amazing. I have been using it this season and I can honestly say it hits more like my old BESR than a BBCOR. Amazing pop and good sound. You will not be disappointed with this bat I guarantee it.
Cons: Paint chips really easy but not a big deal to me since it is such a good bat
mynameis...
Pros: amazing pop. me and my dad hit with it every tues and thurs. big barrel on the 32-29. not so much on the 31-28. im 13 and ive hit 6 or 7 shots that hit the fance on 300+ fields. a must have for power hitters.
Cons: paint chips easily. WARNING... DO NOT USE WEIGHT DO NUT ON BARREL. LEAVES UGLY MARK ON PAINT. FROM UNFORTUNATE EXPERIENCE
tones
Pros: grip, barrel length, weight distribution, pop is great
Cons: none, great bat
bigslugger
Pros: great pop.
Cons: everybody wants to use it
Leadoff21
Pros: Absolutely love this bat! Great balanced feel and tremendous pop for a bbcor bat. Can't go wrong with the Marucci Black.
Cons: None so far.
KH
Pros: Nice even swing weight, not end loaded. Moving up from the CAT 5 (-5)to BBCOR (-3) reason for purchasing the Black. Contact hitter that does not like end loaded bats want to keep my bat speed. Only batting practice so far but I like the feel so far.
Cons: Not the same pop as my CAT 5 but thats BBCOR and the increased weight. No real cons so far

My son is 115 pounds going into high school and I want to know what size to get him? Jaime
My son, now a HS freshmen, has been using Albin / Marucci bats exclusively for four years. For his first BBCOR bat, I dropped the big bucks on the black for Christmas, 31/28, which my son just finished using during the school spring season. Out of the box, the black seemed a bit more end loaded than previous Maruccis and by the end of the year, he was borrowing a friend's Cat 5 white. Is it possible that his black has a different balance based on when it was manufactured? Swinging the two side by side, the Cat 5 definitely feels more balanced and his black more end loaded. We were surprised. Reading all the responses to Qs, it seems like we might be in the minority. Help! I'm discouraged spending $300 on a bat that he won't use. bob
