Only wood bats that contain composite or bamboo materials have to be BBCOR certified. Any ash or maple wood bats do not have to be tested and are legal in high school and college.

We do not recommend hitting dimpled balls with the Marucci Albert Pujols Maple Wood Baseball Bat (AP5BN) or any game bat. The dimpled balls, or rubber cage balls, are more dense than regular baseballs and can crack, dent or even break your game bat easier.

Maple is, traditionally, a bit more durable than ash.
