Louisville Slugger Solo Speed -13 USA Baseball Bat: WTLUBSSM1320
If you've got a youth batter focused on developing swing speed then this bat could be their perfect match. Louisville Slugger has made their Solo Speed USA baseball bat even lighter than previous models with an impressive -13 drop weight. It's an ultra-balanced design with a perfectly tuned 2.5" barrel and lengths ranging from 27 to 30 inches. Approved for use in Pony, Little League, Dixie Youth, Cal Ripken, Babe Ruth, and AABC, this bat dons a USA Baseball certification and sports silver and multi-tone green design that's sure to keep a young batter's attention.

Bat Benefits
Crafted from a single piece of SL Hyperlight aluminum alloy, this bat has a mid-barrel shape with thinner walls for increased swing speed and a satisfying pop with solid contact. Louisville finished this barrel with a premium Speed Ballistic Composite end cap and wrapped the handle with their high-tack LS Pro Comfort grip. These two features give this bat superb control throughout the swing and also help reduce uncomfortable vibrations into the hands and arms. With weights starting as low as 14 ounces, this Solo Speed USA bat is an ideal tool to help youth batters gain control and confidence with each trip into the batter's box.

Warranty
This bat is backed by Louisville Slugger's one-year limited warranty. It covers any defects in materials and workmanship as well as some damage arising from on-field use. Bats with severe dents, structural cracks and broken knobs or caps may qualify for a one-time repair or replacement.

Great bat Keith Tyminski Parent

Pros: Lightest USA certified bat on market i could find and close to the specified weight. It’s 14oz and comes in at 15.1oz on scale. My son was using the Rawlings threat 15oz and was having a hard time controlling the bat. He’s a small 7 yr old (10 percentile height/weight). The threats actual weight was 17.1oz. I was worried he would lose some contact with a slightly smaller barrel but he hasn’t at all. In fact his swing control has improved and his contact is significantly better. The bat has great pop too. He’s gaining his confidence in his swing and loving baseball more for it. He has had it for about one month now. I definitely recommend this bat.

Cons: Listed as 14oz, but actual is 15.1 for 27”

2020 bat of the year Rick Coach

Pros: The bat is super lightweight and great for kids who are making the move up from tball. 10/10 for this one right here, no cons at all!! Great pop with a nice sound every time no matter where you hit on the barrel. It’s been through 3 games and about 300hits in bp and no complaints at all.. DO NOT SLEEP ON THE PRICE... make the next move the best move!!

Cons: No cons

Small sweet spot, stingers Don Coach

Pros: Great for smaller kids

Cons: Not a lot of pop in this bat. Great for smaller players BUT not even before the season starts after being used two rounds in the cage, the paint is chipping off everywhere. Looks worse than the composite bat we used for 2 seasons already. Marks up quick. There is a lot more handle than barrel on this bat. Bat stings and makes a very wired buzz sound when not hit on the sweet spot. I expected more from a Solo. Back to composite we go. Not worth the price by far. $79.99 bat at best.

How does this bat compare to the Solo 619 -11? My son is 51 inches and 60 pounds. He has been using a DeMarini Uprising 27/-10. I find he does swing a little late with the Uprising. He is in coach pitch, but moving into kid pitch in the spring. Evan
The Louisville Slugger Solo Speed -13 USA Baseball Bat: WTLUBSSM1320 is just 2 ounces lighter than the Solo 619 -11 and has a smaller 2 1/2" barrel diameter. About the Brand

In 1842, J. Frederick Hillerich emigrated with his family from Baden-Baden, Germany to the United States. Eight years before, the 1834 Book of Sports had made its debut as the nation's first publication covering baseball. But when he arrived in Baltimore, J. Frederick Hillerich would never have dreamed of the future impact his family would have on America's favorite pastime.

After a short while, the Hillerichs moved to Louisville, where J. Fred started a woodworking shop in 1856. Two of his sons, Adam and John Andrew "Bud" were born in the United States and would later join their father in his business. By 1864 "J.F. Hillerich, Job Turning" was in operation and filled orders for businesses by custom-turning everything from balusters to bedposts.

The firm thrived, and by 1875 the little woodworking shop employed about 20 people. In 1880 Bud Hillerich, who was an amateur baseball player, became an apprentice in his father's shop. Young Bud made his own baseball bats along with bats for several of his teammates.

The debate over the origins of the first bat continues to generate controversy among baseball enthusiasts, but the younger Hillerich was most certainly involved in getting his father's business involved with what would become the company's signature item. According to company legend, the first bat was turned by Bud for Pete "The Old Gladiator" Browning in 1884. Browning was a star on Louisville's professional American Association team - the Eclipse. On a spring afternoon Bud, then seventeen, witnessed Browning break his favorite bat. Bud offered to make a bat for his hero, and Browning accepted. After the young wood shop apprentice lathed a quality stick from white ash, according to the story, Browning got three hits with it in the next game.

Louisville Slugger gloves are worn by more pitchers in Major League Baseball than any other glove.
