Bat Benefits

This Select PWR BBCOR bat features Louisville's 3FX PWR connection, bringing the barrel and handle together with extra stiffness. It's a premium feature that allows power hitters to transfer more energy into the ball on contact without creating additional vibrations into the hands and arms. The high-end EXD alloy barrel also improves slugging power with an extra-large sweet spot. Topped off with the brand's new PWR end cap, the barrel offers excellent speed and a satisfying alloy sound when you connect with the ball.

The composite handle and alloy barrel are specifically balanced for power and Louisville's premium LS Pro Comfort grip offers exceptional tack and comfort throughout the swing. With a sleek and modern blue, black and grey colorway, this bat has an edgy look that tells opposing pitchers you've got a serious swagger at the plate.

Warranty

Louisville Slugger covers this bat with a one-year limited warranty against material and manufacturing defects. It is also covered against some on-field damage including severe denting, structural cracks and broken knobs and end caps. For qualifying bats, the manufacturer will issue a one-time repair or a replacement.

Great Bat Brad Ballweg Parent

Pros: It is winter but my son is using the bat in the cage hitting baseballs off T, soft toss and some BP pitching. My son is 14 yrs old 5'7" and 140 pounds and is swinging 32" 29 ounce. Bat is slightly end loaded but not enough that it affects his swing. Ball seems to jump off the bat and it isn't even broke in yet. He can't wait to get outside.

Cons: None currently have only had the bat for a month.

Always Outdoors Scott Naughton Coach

Pros: Two piece. End loaded. Son said it feels like it has good pop for a BBCOR. He is 13 just coming off using USA and USSSA bats. It is end loaded so be leery if you want a balanced bat. I was looking for an end loaded bat as my son is very strong for his age and this is a good fit.

Cons: None yet but It only has about 500 swings on it.

Good bat Mike G Coach

Pros: Lots of pop, no sting on miss hits , ball really goes when you get a hold of a ball, comparable pop to the voodoo but with a heavier swing weight, good size sweet spot. This is our second select the 1st one finally went dead after 2 years. The pop on the solo might be just a tad better but the sweet spot is a lot smaller on the solo. The select is just a full good all around bat. You can tell it’s a little end loaded.

Cons: Can’t think of any!!!

Broke out of the box Nolan Overmyer Player

Pros: The pop was amazing. This is personal, but I am on the skinnier side and did not have the greatest bat speed with this bat due to the end loaded feel. But this bat was juiced. I was hitting exceptionally farther and the ball travelled really well. There was also no vibration on miss hits. This bat is highly recommended for kids who are stronger and bigger.

Cons: When I got this bat, it came to me broken. The Louisville slugger warranty was decently well and I was able to get a new bat. I think it was an issue with shipping so I would not worry. It’s just a misfortune that I could not use it. It was rattling and the 2 piece connector disconnected. I ended up going with the Demarini cf because I like the balance feel over the end loaded feel

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Louisville Slugger Select PWR BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBSPB320? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

As a power hitter, would you guys think it would be better to buy an end loaded bat, like this one, or a balanced one? What are the differences between a hybrid and a regular 2 piece composite? Caleb Newton
Whether or not to swing an end-loaded or balanced bat is completely up to player preference. Generally speaking, an end-loaded bat can be a better fit for a power hitter. With that said, a power hitter can still excel using a balanced bat. The new hybrid Louisville Slugger Select PWR BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBSPB320 will offer the same vibration control as a two-piece composite. The main difference between these two types of bats is the swing weight feel (end-loaded is a characteristic of a hybrid bat typically) and barrel composition (alloy barrel with a hybrid bat).
Cameron
What’s the difference between 719 and PWR BBCOR? My son used the 719 and loved it, so I am debating on buying 719 again or trying the PWR. Jose D
The 719 and the Louisville Slugger Select PWR BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBSPB320 will be pretty similar as far as overall feel and performance. The PWR does have a new end cap and a new connection to help create extra stiffness for more power.
Tori
What bat would you recommend to a guy who is 5’10" and 170 lbs, the Select PWR or the Velo ACP? Yuilo
Per your height and weight, we would recommend a 33 inch BBCOR bat. Whether to get the Louisville Slugger Select PWR BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBSPB320 or the Rawlings VELO ACP would come down to personal preference as both are good options to consider. If you prefer a two-piece and end-loaded swing weight design then the Select PWR is a better option for you. The VELO will have a one-piece all alloy design with a balanced swing weight and might be easier to swing as a result.
Cameron
Is this better than the Louisville Meta Prime? GP
Both the Meta Prime and the Louisville Slugger Select PWR BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBSPB320 are high quality bats, but have some differences. The Select PWR is a hybrid bat so it will have an alloy barrel. The Meta Prime is all composite. The Select PWR is a better fit for a true power hitter. The Meta Prime is better for contact hitters.
Tori
How does this bat compare to the DeMarini The Goods? Which would you prefer for a major power hitter? Tex
Both the Louisville Slugger Select PWR BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBSPB320 and the DeMarini The Goods are two-piece hybrid bats featuring end-loaded swing weights. It would be hard to say that either one is a significantly better option for a power hitter to use; it would all come down to personal preference and this will vary from one hitter to the next.
Cameron
Is this bat the most comparable to the 718? Tracy Balestreri
Yes the Louisville Slugger Select PWR BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBSPB320 will be most comparable to the 718.
Jack
How will this compare in both swing weight & pop to Meta PWR? John
The swing weight should be nearly identical to the Meta PWR, as Louisville Slugger seems to have used most of the same technology in terms of their PWR materials and tech. Max pop should be about the same due to the BBCOR restrictions, but overall barrel performance will probably be slightly higher in the Meta, as that is the only model using their EKO composite material in the barrel.
Kyle
Is this bat fully end-loaded or in the middle of balanced and end-loaded? Zachary Armenta
The Louisville Slugger Select PWR BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBSPB320 features a slightly end-loaded swing weight design.
Cameron
What grade would you prefer to use the bat? Ryan Ruiz
BBCOR bats, like the Louisville Slugger Select PWR BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBSPB320, are required for all high school and college players. As well, some middle school leagues will require the use of BBCOR bats.
Cameron
I’m replacing an older 33” Louisville 917 and would like a bat with a similar swing weight. Being 3 years older I am a bit stronger now and have developed decent bat speed (average around 91-92 mph exit velocity). I’m looking at an alloy barrel bat and I’d like your advice on comparing the Select PWR with the Omaha. Is there a big difference in swing weight and how does the composite handle effect performance? Randy
There will most likely be a swing weight difference felt between the Louisville Slugger Select PWR BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBSPB320 and the LS Omaha. The Louisville Slugger Select PWR BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBSPB320 is set up as an end-loaded bat whereas the Omaha is balanced; for a more balanced bat from LS, go with the Solo. The Louisville Slugger Select PWR BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBSPB320 is a popular option for those players seeking a bat with the swing weight feel of a one-piece maple wood bat while still maintaining some vibration control on miss hits; a two-piece bat will flex on contact and that helps soften the stinging of the hands. UPDATE: the Louisville Slugger Omaha BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBO520B3 will be more end-loaded than the Select PWR; previous year's models would have the PWR has more end-loaded over the Omaha.
Cameron
I noticed this is an end loaded bat, however the 31” has a light swing weight? Does the 31” differ from other sizes in barrel or something? My 13yo likes the 31 but will it swing heavier than other 31’s like the prime, etc? Andrew Lumbert
The 31'' of the Louisville Slugger Select PWR BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBSPB320 will also have an end loaded feel.
Tori
Would this bat be good for a 5'1" 94 lb. freshman? I am a smaller guy but currently swing an Alpha Project 3 31 inch. Joey
The Louisville Slugger Select PWR BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBSPB320 is a great bat but will feature more of an end-loaded swing weight. It would just depend on whether or not the swing weight feel would meet your preferences.
Cameron
I swung a Louisville Select Hybrid for spring and was wondering if it would take a lot of getting used to? I'm 5'8'' and 200 lbs. Isaac
The Louisville Slugger Select PWR BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBSPB320 should not take any getting use to if you previously swung the Select 719 Hybrid.
Cameron
What bat weight would you recommend to a guy who is 5’7" and 142 lbs? Loma
Per that height and weight, we would recommend the Louisville Slugger Select PWR BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBSPB320 at 32 inches.
Cameron
Louisville Slugger Select PWR BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBSPB320 or Marucci CAT9 Pastime BBCOR Baseball Bat: MCBC9A? Which one is better and how do they compare? Logra
The Louisville Slugger Select PWR BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBSPB320 is a hybrid model (alloy barrel and composite handle) with more of an end-loaded swing weight whereas the Marucci CAT9 Pastime BBCOR Baseball Bat: MCBC9A is a one-piece all, alloy bat with a balanced swing weight. Both bats would be great options to consider!
Cameron
My son is 5'7" and 150 lbs. at 15. What size bat do you recommend and what kind for a solid contact type hitter with power? David
Per your son's height and weight, we would recommend a 32 inch BBCOR. The Louisville Slugger Select PWR BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBSPB320 is great option for those hitters that prefer more of an end-loaded swinging bat. For a balanced option, the Louisville Slugger Solo BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBS620B3 would be a great option to consider.
Cameron
I want to see if this is a good choice for my 13 year old. He weighs 110 and is 5' tall. Would this be a good bat? If so, what size should I get? Betty Kenny
Per the height and weight of your player, we would recommend a BBCOR bat at 29 inches. The Louisville Slugger Select PWR BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBSPB320 would not be a good bat to consider as it does not come in that size. A better option would be the Louisville Slugger Omaha BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBO521B3.

About the Brand

In 1842, J. Frederick Hillerich emigrated with his family from Baden-Baden, Germany to the United States. Eight years before, the 1834 Book of Sports had made its debut as the nation's first publication covering baseball. But when he arrived in Baltimore, J. Frederick Hillerich would never have dreamed of the future impact his family would have on America's favorite pastime.

After a short while, the Hillerichs moved to Louisville, where J. Fred started a woodworking shop in 1856. Two of his sons, Adam and John Andrew "Bud" were born in the United States and would later join their father in his business. By 1864 "J.F. Hillerich, Job Turning" was in operation and filled orders for businesses by custom-turning everything from balusters to bedposts.

The firm thrived, and by 1875 the little woodworking shop employed about 20 people. In 1880 Bud Hillerich, who was an amateur baseball player, became an apprentice in his father's shop. Young Bud made his own baseball bats along with bats for several of his teammates.

The debate over the origins of the first bat continues to generate controversy among baseball enthusiasts, but the younger Hillerich was most certainly involved in getting his father's business involved with what would become the company's signature item. According to company legend, the first bat was turned by Bud for Pete "The Old Gladiator" Browning in 1884. Browning was a star on Louisville's professional American Association team - the Eclipse. On a spring afternoon Bud, then seventeen, witnessed Browning break his favorite bat. Bud offered to make a bat for his hero, and Browning accepted. After the young wood shop apprentice lathed a quality stick from white ash, according to the story, Browning got three hits with it in the next game.

Louisville Slugger gloves are worn by more pitchers in Major League Baseball than any other glove.
