Description

Louisville Slugger Pro Prime Torpedo Maple Wood Baseball Bat: WBL4213010

Turn heads and barrel up with confidence. The Louisville Slugger Pro Prime Torpedo brings pro-level quality, innovative barrel design, and insane finish hardness—all crafted for hitters who demand precision and power.

Bat Benefits
The Pro Prime Torpedo is crafted from pro-grade maple, one of the hardest and most popular wood bat materials used by professionals. Built for serious hitters, this bat features a TPD1 Torpedo-shaped barrel, shifting weight closer to the center for a more balanced swing feel and enhanced barrel control. This design helps you stay in the zone longer and consistently square up pitches.

What really sets this bat apart is its Professional Series Finish, a premium gloss finish made with an enhanced resin and UV light treatment. This process instantly hardens the surface, making the bat up to 30% harder than previous Slugger Prime models. The finish is not only durable but also provides a sleek, mirror-like appearance on gloss models.

Louisville Slugger’s Seamless Decals are applied directly under the topcoat, blending with the wood grain so smoothly that the logos feel like part of the bat itself. Combine that with Pro Hardened compression—where steel rods densify the wood along the entire barrel—and you’ve got one of the most durable and high-performance wood bats on the market.

Additional features include a tapered knob for better comfort and control, a cupped endcap for optimized balance, and a 75-day limited warranty—more than double the previous coverage. If you're looking for a maple wood bat that blends craftsmanship, performance, and tech-driven innovation, the Pro Prime Torpedo delivers in every swing.

Warranty

75-day limited warranty—more than double the previous coverage. If you're having issues with your Louisville Slugger Pro Prime reach out to our Experts and they will get you set up with the warranty process!

About the Brand

In 1842, J. Frederick Hillerich emigrated with his family from Baden-Baden, Germany to the United States. Eight years before, the 1834 Book of Sports had made its debut as the nation's first publication covering baseball. But when he arrived in Baltimore, J. Frederick Hillerich would never have dreamed of the future impact his family would have on America's favorite pastime.

After a short while, the Hillerichs moved to Louisville, where J. Fred started a woodworking shop in 1856. Two of his sons, Adam and John Andrew "Bud" were born in the United States and would later join their father in his business. By 1864 "J.F. Hillerich, Job Turning" was in operation and filled orders for businesses by custom-turning everything from balusters to bedposts.

The firm thrived, and by 1875 the little woodworking shop employed about 20 people. In 1880 Bud Hillerich, who was an amateur baseball player, became an apprentice in his father's shop. Young Bud made his own baseball bats along with bats for several of his teammates.

The debate over the origins of the first bat continues to generate controversy among baseball enthusiasts, but the younger Hillerich was most certainly involved in getting his father's business involved with what would become the company's signature item. According to company legend, the first bat was turned by Bud for Pete "The Old Gladiator" Browning in 1884. Browning was a star on Louisville's professional American Association team - the Eclipse. On a spring afternoon Bud, then seventeen, witnessed Browning break his favorite bat. Bud offered to make a bat for his hero, and Browning accepted. After the young wood shop apprentice lathed a quality stick from white ash, according to the story, Browning got three hits with it in the next game.

Louisville Slugger gloves are worn by more pitchers in Major League Baseball than any other glove.
