Description

Louisville Slugger Prime -5 USSSA Baseball Bat: WTLSLP9B520
Give your senior league or travel player the tools to stand out at the plate with this Louisville Slugger Prime bat. It's USSSA BPF 1.15 certified and designed specifically to help developing hitters build technique and power. Available from 27 to 32 inches, this bat is perfectly balanced with varying barrel sizes depending on the length. With a drop weight of -5, it's an ideal choice for youth batters who bring some power at the plate and also those who are ready to step up to a burlier twig. The two-piece construction and charcoal, red and white design gives this bat an aggressive look that tells opposing pitchers they better bring their A-game.

Bat Benefits
Comfort and feel are central to this Prime USSSA bat thanks to the premium VCX Vibration Control Connection System. It's a patented design that creates an elastomeric connection between the barrel and handle. This means that both sections of the bat can move independently, drastically reducing vibration and improving the feel on contact with a baseball. Louisville takes this silky smooth feel a step further by adding their proprietary LS Pro Comfort grip for even less shock and improved tack.

And while comfort is key on this bat, so is slugging power. It is crafted entirely from high-end AVC MicroForm composite for an oversized sweet spot that truly sings with solid ball contact. The SBC Turbine Composite end cap also helps increase swing speed and control for developing hitters.

Warranty
This bat is covered by Louisville Slugger's one-year limited warranty. This warranty includes some damage arising from on-field use including severe dents, structural cracks and broken caps and knobs. Defects in manufacturing and materials are also covered and Louisville offers a one-time repair or replacement for qualifying bats.

Going Home Mason#20 Parent

Pros: We received this bat today and my son loves it. He is 13, and used strictly Louisville Slugger in the past, before switching to the 2019 Zen. He hit approximately 100 balls tonight and it was hot from the first swing. According to him, the pop out of the box, looks, and grip were all better than his Zen, with the feel being about even.

Cons: Not a con, but durability remains to be seen.

Love it! Kyle Coach

Pros: Its a PRIME! My son is 13, has had the 918, 919, and now this one. He loves them all! Just got this one last night, went to the cages and out of the wrapper the ball jumps. We have been almost strictly Louisville Slugger for about a year, we love their products and this one seems to be another great bat. Looks great, expect it to be as good as the older versions!

Cons: Feels/Swings a little heavier than our other new drop 5.

Great bat! J Player

Pros: I’m a player and used both this and the zen at the same time and both were very similar. This bat has better feel in my opinion, pop seems to be the same but I personally like the sound of the zen more but I think this bat is overall better than the zen!

Cons: The handle seems a little thinner than other bats

Nice bat if it lasted Philip Parent

Pros: Nice power throughout the bat. Beautiful sound when hitting. Grip is comfortable.

Cons: This is round two with the prime. Last year lasted 3/4 of a season. This year lasted 1/4 of a Season before it broke. Louisville replaces last years under warranty but replacement bat cracked as well.

Wanted to love this, but we've had two break! J Lee Parent

Pros: Very hot bat, lots of pop. Son loved it and was excited to use it.

Cons: Bat shattered right before first game, with very little prior use. Waited 3+ weeks for a replacement under warranty. We've had it less than 3 weeks, and it shattered again. One time, it happens. Twice? I have to question durability and quality. We've never had a bat shatter, and now this happens twice with the same bat!

Great feel and pop out of the wrapper Monte Farrar Coach

Pros: Balanced feel and swing, no vibration, looks really sharp, comfortable grip, sneaky pop- Off a tee it doesn't seem like anything special, but when you hit live BP, the ball jumps off this bat. I imagine when it's broken-in, it'll really really be hot.

Cons: None yet!

They should just send you 2 Stan white Parent

Pros: Great pop and feel

Cons: Brittle. Broke in practice. Never got to use it in game. They should just send you two. Practice and game cause everyone i know who gets one ends up getying a replacement voucher later from the company. Nice bat but the FACT is that all of these composite bats eventually split. If you kid is a strong power hitter he will tear it up even faster.

About the Brand

In 1842, J. Frederick Hillerich emigrated with his family from Baden-Baden, Germany to the United States. Eight years before, the 1834 Book of Sports had made its debut as the nation's first publication covering baseball. But when he arrived in Baltimore, J. Frederick Hillerich would never have dreamed of the future impact his family would have on America's favorite pastime.

After a short while, the Hillerichs moved to Louisville, where J. Fred started a woodworking shop in 1856. Two of his sons, Adam and John Andrew "Bud" were born in the United States and would later join their father in his business. By 1864 "J.F. Hillerich, Job Turning" was in operation and filled orders for businesses by custom-turning everything from balusters to bedposts.

The firm thrived, and by 1875 the little woodworking shop employed about 20 people. In 1880 Bud Hillerich, who was an amateur baseball player, became an apprentice in his father's shop. Young Bud made his own baseball bats along with bats for several of his teammates.

The debate over the origins of the first bat continues to generate controversy among baseball enthusiasts, but the younger Hillerich was most certainly involved in getting his father's business involved with what would become the company's signature item. According to company legend, the first bat was turned by Bud for Pete "The Old Gladiator" Browning in 1884. Browning was a star on Louisville's professional American Association team - the Eclipse. On a spring afternoon Bud, then seventeen, witnessed Browning break his favorite bat. Bud offered to make a bat for his hero, and Browning accepted. After the young wood shop apprentice lathed a quality stick from white ash, according to the story, Browning got three hits with it in the next game.

Louisville Slugger gloves are worn by more pitchers in Major League Baseball than any other glove.
