Is there any difference between this bat and the older model?
Charlie
The older year bat and this model of the Louisville Slugger Omaha are nearly identical, although the alloy was slightly updated to the MX 7U1+ (old was ST 7U1+) to try and improve energy transfer to the ball.
Kyle
Do you recommend this for 10u tournament team?
Nick
The Louisville Slugger Omaha -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: WTLSLO5X1020 would be an excellent bat for a 10U player to use. This is a one-piece alloy model that is well balanced.
Cameron
My 12u is taller and quite slight, would you recommend this bat (31/21) or same size Solo model?
Joe
The Louisville Slugger Omaha -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: WTLSLO5X1020 is a one-piece alloy bat with a balanced swing weight, just like the LS Solo, but the Solo will be more balanced due to it featuring a different alloy and composite end cap design. Which one to ultimately get comes down to what the hitter prefers but the Solo might be your better option.
Cameron
What are the major differences between this model and the WTLSLO519X10? Looking for a new bat for my 8 yr old.
Hogaboom
The Louisville Slugger Omaha -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: WTLSLO5X1020 features a new alloy (ST7 Alloy) for thinner barrel walls compared to the prior year's model, the Louisville Slugger Omaha 519 -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: WTLSLO519X10 (ST 7U1+ Alloy).
Cameron
Is this a 2 5/8" barrel or 2 3/4"?
Tony
The Louisville Slugger Omaha -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: WTLSLO5X1020 features a 2 3/4" barrel diameter.
Cameron
My son is 12U AAU but 13U for town baseball. Would you recommend this bat? He tried a drop 5 on the 12U field and the weight was a little heavy for him.
HJ
The Louisville Slugger Omaha -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: WTLSLO5X1020 would be a great bat to consider for a 12U player who can use a USSSA bat.
Cameron
My 9U son has a JBB Omaha 28 -10 bat that he used last year and is using again this year. I'm looking into getting him a 29 -10 for the second half of this season and to use again for at least another full year. Can you tell me the difference between the Omaha 2020 and 2021 bats? Are they about the same? Also, how do they compare to the LS Solo bats? He's been happy with his LS JBB Omaha but I wonder if we might not need to go up by an inch in length? He is a skinny and moderately tallish kid for his age who swing the bat handed. He is not really strong yet but has a nice smooth, lefty swing with good control and makes good contact and occasionally drives the ball.
Grant Kimberley
LS only sells the latest version of the Omaha on their website. With that being said, the Louisville Slugger Omaha -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: WTLSLO5X1020 features the same ST7 alloy barrel. As for what is the difference between the Omaha and Solo, the Solo will feature a lighter alloy barrel and composite end cap design.
Cameron
What is the difference between this bat and the LS Omaha model number WTLSLO5J1020? Which would have more pop? Which might have less mis-hit vibration?
Dan
The WTLSLO5J1020 is a junior big barrel bats, these bats are only designed for coach and machine pitch. If you player is in kids pitch I would not recommend a junior big barrel bat. This Louisville Slugger Omaha -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: WTLSLO5X1020 will be designed for kids pitch and will be more durable.

In 1842, J. Frederick Hillerich emigrated with his family from Baden-Baden, Germany to the United States. Eight years before, the 1834 Book of Sports had made its debut as the nation's first publication covering baseball. But when he arrived in Baltimore, J. Frederick Hillerich would never have dreamed of the future impact his family would have on America's favorite pastime.

After a short while, the Hillerichs moved to Louisville, where J. Fred started a woodworking shop in 1856. Two of his sons, Adam and John Andrew "Bud" were born in the United States and would later join their father in his business. By 1864 "J.F. Hillerich, Job Turning" was in operation and filled orders for businesses by custom-turning everything from balusters to bedposts.

The firm thrived, and by 1875 the little woodworking shop employed about 20 people. In 1880 Bud Hillerich, who was an amateur baseball player, became an apprentice in his father's shop. Young Bud made his own baseball bats along with bats for several of his teammates.

The debate over the origins of the first bat continues to generate controversy among baseball enthusiasts, but the younger Hillerich was most certainly involved in getting his father's business involved with what would become the company's signature item. According to company legend, the first bat was turned by Bud for Pete "The Old Gladiator" Browning in 1884. Browning was a star on Louisville's professional American Association team - the Eclipse. On a spring afternoon Bud, then seventeen, witnessed Browning break his favorite bat. Bud offered to make a bat for his hero, and Browning accepted. After the young wood shop apprentice lathed a quality stick from white ash, according to the story, Browning got three hits with it in the next game.

Louisville Slugger gloves are worn by more pitchers in Major League Baseball than any other glove.
