Description
Louisville Slugger Meta -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WBL2492010
Now being introduced into the Louisville Slugger Fastpitch lineup...The Meta! It was only a matter of time before the Meta made its way into fastpitch softball. Now it's here and it's ready to mash!
Bat Benefits
Slugger got after it when designing the barrel that would make up this two-piece, all-composite bat. And the result of their engineering tenacity is the new Mash Composite Design. The Mash barrel will come with a gapped wall design that is composed of both an inner and outer barrel that will work together to produce top results. For Slugger's gapped design, the size of the spacing between the inner and outer barrel will be large. As well, that spacing will be consistent throughout the entire hitting surface of this bat. That should help create top performance along the entire length of the bat's barrel.
The innovation didn't stop with the barrel! The VTX connection point will bring back all the benefits of its predecessor (the VCX), but the visual of the connection piece will be improved as it has a new "lattice" look to it. And the F2X end cap will be lightweight and stunning to look at as it is made with a clear material that will look excellent.
This drop 10 model is going to be balanced in its feel! That will make it a very versatile bat as contact hitters, power hitters, and even slap hitters could reach for this bat and achieve their top potential!
Warranty
This bat will indeed be covered with a twelve (12) month warranty extended by Louisville Slugger. Pros: This bat feels pretty good, not quite as soft as any of the numerous Ghost bats that we've used for years, however still really good vs normal bats. The sound is definitely different than a ghost, much more like an LXT, however not the same. The barrel seems a little smaller when I line up the rubber joints between the Ghost Advance, but not enough to make a difference.
Cons: I think this design and look is ugly, but I'm also sick of Ghost bats breaking after a month or two so that's why I'm trying it.
Pros: Great Sound, Great Pop, Great Performance and so far it hasn't broken in over 1k hits.
Cons: none
Pros: My 14 year old Granddaughter has used and broken several ghost advanced bags. We were tired of sending them back to be replaced so we tried the new Meta. Her first at bat she hit a gone run. The ball doesn’t sound quite as good coming off the bat as the ghost but it does have pop.
Cons: None so far.
Pros: Looks great but that's about all!!
Cons: I got this bat for my 14 year old daughter. She used it with her hitting coach (2 lessons) and at practice now it has a rattle sound coming from inside the barrel. The bat sounds like something is broke on the inside. We sent back to Louisville for the warranty is was approved and an replacement was sent to use my daughter used that for 1 day and the same rattling nose has happened!! Now we don't have a bat since we have reached our limit of warranties.
Pros: Best bat ever
Cons: Non
Pros: The bat has nice balance and pop to it.
Cons: I have been buying LXT's for years. My daughter lost her last LXT at a tournament and there were very limited options for a new one. I end up buying this new Meta bat for her replacement. Its already broken after just a few games and practices. It lasted a little over two months. I'm not sure this baseball bat was ready for fast-pitch softball.
Pros: Great feel, look and pop right out of the wrapper.
Cons: 6 months and it's already broke.
Pros: Great pop when it’s not broken
Cons: Broke in 4 months with limited use
Pros: Looks cool
Cons: My daughter plays college softball, has already broken 2 of these bats. 1 in cold weather and 1 in warm weather Florida. There is something wrong with this bat! I have never seen this happen in my daughters 16 years of playing ball
Pros: None
Cons: Broke first day we got it. Sent it back. They had no replacement. Gave me a store credit for the price of the bat. Had to eat the tax and shipping. Very disappointed.....
Pros: Excellent for triple threat Incredible pop Evenly balanced Great sound coming off the bat
Cons: Too soon to find any flaws. As long as it last longer than 3 different Easton Ghosts. There are no cons
Pros: the best bat ever does not sting your hands when you bat
Cons: there is nothing wrong with the bat
Pros: Decent pop and very balanced. My daughter likes this bat.
Cons: Developed a rattle in the barrel at 4 months and a wobble at 6 months, then I sent it in for warranty replacement. I could not tell really any difference between the LXT and Meta other than the LXT seems more durable.
Pros: Great pop
Cons: lasts only 2 months tops. We have been through 2 already. on to the LXT
Pros: Great pop
Cons: None
Pros: My daughter loved it
Cons: It broke after a few good hits with it
Pros: Had some good bunts with it, looks nice
Cons: Doesn't really feel balanced, pop has not been what I expected so far.
Pros: Excellent grip tape Good Balance
Cons: Nothing so far, still in the break in period
Pros: Pops
Cons: Breaks, one good hit and it was done. Warranty is not great. You can only use it to buy regular bat, not a custom. No other bat costs as much so you lose money.
Pros: Bought this for my daughter and she absolutely loves it she says it feels like her old Ghost she's a 12u player other kids on her team are asking too use it cause they want too try it and they love it I know everyone has there opinion but my daughter loves this bad and the colors are the same as her team colors
Cons: She hasn't said anything she doesn't like about it
Pros: Hot bat
Cons: With a reputable name like Louisville Slugger you would figure they would not construct something so poorly. So my 14 yr old daughter had the bat for two months before it started to rattle at the end. Louisville Slugger replaced the bat and another one was issued. The replacement bat did it as well three weeks later. For a $450 dollar bat this astonishes me. The bad thing is, this bat would be amazing if it wasn't for that issue. Go buy a different bat
Pros: Excellent pop
Cons: Broke internally 3 weeks after getting it. Only seen tee work never seen a live pitch. Louisville seems to be making their bats cheaper and charging more.
Pros: This bat has great pop and feel. Unfortunately the first bat developed the rattle within a few months and the warranty bat did the same thing. Since the bat broke twice within the same year Louisville gave me a voucher for another bat. The bat wasn’t in stock right away, but within a month it became available and I used the voucher to get another bat. I also went up to a bigger bat to see if that helps. I had to purchase a different bat in the meantime so this will be a backup. I gave this 4 stars because customer service was great and bat has awesome pop and feel, but durability is still in question.
Cons: No durability
Pros: Recently bought for my 14 yr old daughter. She loves the feel and the swing. Great pop out of the wrapper. Seems to be durable so far
Cons: Takes a bit to break in
Pros: My daughter loves her Meta. She really likes the feel of the bat... very balanced. Says the -10 swings lighter than other brands' balanced -11's. Seems relatively hot out of the wrapper. Love the sound, love the graphics.
Cons: Developed a rattle after 6 months. Granted, it received a lotta use during that time between practices and games, but still, other bats have had no issues with same workload. Return/replacement was easy, but had to pay shipping to send bat in to LS. Grip also started to unravel after 2 months, so had to replace that.
Pros: Looks cool
Cons: Used few months, was her back up .
Pros: Bat feels and looks great. Has a nice pop to it. But doesn’t last for a power hitter..
Cons: My daughter has gone through 3 of these bats in the past year and a half. Something inside the barrel broke because when you shake it you hear something rattling. Wish they would figure out the problem for the money they charge.
Pros: Graphics are kinda cool. Daughter liked the way it felt with her swing.
Cons: Do not buy this bat. You'll be glad you didn't. Developed a rattle 3 months after purchasing. Louisville sent a replacement... which developed a rattle 2-1/2 months later. Can't describe how frustrated and angry I am. $450 thrown away (plus shipping when sending it back). Pretty sure I will never buy another LS product again.
Pros: Not bad
Cons: Clunk inside the bat like a loose particle.
Pros: Broken loose parts
Cons: Junk. Horrible company!!!
Pros: It has a great pop
Cons: You only get 100 swings then it starts to rattle
Pros: It’s a slugger
Cons: After a real short time, like 2 months at end of season, the weight inside became loose and sliding up and down. Needless to say, sending it back.
Pros: Pop
Cons: Broke in exactly a month
Pros: None
Cons: Started rattling after 3 sessions. Returning it for an LXT. Bat sucks.
Pros: Looks great, great pop, daughter loved this bat, was her favorite
Cons: Rod breaks inside quickly, not durable, daughter loved it until all her hits were going foul, found out the rod broke inside
Pros: Very comfortable in my daughter’s hand and swing
Cons: Have had to purchase 2 of these and both have broke within 1-3 months with just very minimal use. Not up to the hype. I know 2 other girls who have had this bat and within a day even hours after purchase it has broke. I never leave reviews but this needed to be heard. Seriously awful and very disappointed. Thank god for warranty!
Pros: great pop and feel
Cons: developed a rattle about 1 month after purchase with light-moderate usage on a 14u club team. would not recommend it. purchase a bat with more durability or a lower drop, like an lxt or demarini whisper.
Pros: Great pop and feel… Usually need to rewrap with lizard skin but my daughter swears by Meta… Got Easton and Rawlings as well but she prefers Meta cause they help her hit dingers!
Cons: The last two of the old 22 model since LS never made a 23 model lasted two months and three weeks before the dreadful separation of the barrels… Have not sent the second bat back but will after Nationals at Nashville this week…
Pros: Good pop from the start
Cons: Breaks fast Like the ghost

About the Brand
In 1842, J. Frederick Hillerich emigrated with his family from Baden-Baden, Germany to the United States. Eight years before, the 1834 Book of Sports had made its debut as the nation's first publication covering baseball. But when he arrived in Baltimore, J. Frederick Hillerich would never have dreamed of the future impact his family would have on America's favorite pastime.
After a short while, the Hillerichs moved to Louisville, where J. Fred started a woodworking shop in 1856. Two of his sons, Adam and John Andrew "Bud" were born in the United States and would later join their father in his business. By 1864 "J.F. Hillerich, Job Turning" was in operation and filled orders for businesses by custom-turning everything from balusters to bedposts.
The firm thrived, and by 1875 the little woodworking shop employed about 20 people. In 1880 Bud Hillerich, who was an amateur baseball player, became an apprentice in his father's shop. Young Bud made his own baseball bats along with bats for several of his teammates.
The debate over the origins of the first bat continues to generate controversy among baseball enthusiasts, but the younger Hillerich was most certainly involved in getting his father's business involved with what would become the company's signature item. According to company legend, the first bat was turned by Bud for Pete "The Old Gladiator" Browning in 1884. Browning was a star on Louisville's professional American Association team - the Eclipse. On a spring afternoon Bud, then seventeen, witnessed Browning break his favorite bat. Bud offered to make a bat for his hero, and Browning accepted. After the young wood shop apprentice lathed a quality stick from white ash, according to the story, Browning got three hits with it in the next game.
Louisville Slugger gloves are worn by more pitchers in Major League Baseball than any other glove.
