DeMarini Prism -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXPZP

Time and again, DeMarini fastpitch bats dominate the details and tirelessly chase perfection through their ever-evolving technology. DeMarini set out to build a bat that would stand up to changing conditions and give players the same feel of hitting in a game, in practice, off a tee, or live pitching.

Bat Benefits:

Designed and perfected in D-LAB the Prism features a XLC Continuous Fiber Barrel that combines a low compression outer wall that works with the even lower-compression inner wall to create the most bounce you've ever seen off a bat. The gapped barrel technology also gives the bat a very distinct sound on contact. Finally, the ever-so-popular 3Fushion system keeps all of the built-up energy in the barrel for more explosiveness AND keeps the sting out of your hands on any mis-hits.

Split in 2 Jeff Parent

Pros: My 13 year old daughter hit her first home run with this bat and she had less than 50 swings on it so vary hot out the of wrapper. She loves how balanced it is

Cons: With less than 100 swings on it. The bat split in 2. Now waiting on the bat to get back from DeMarini. Going to take close to 2 weeks for turn around.

Terrible quality Ryan Coach

Pros: Has great pop.

Cons: Don’t buy a prism. It has great pop but durability and their customer service is terrible. My daughter who is 4’10” 100lb, broke the first prism after about a month and a half. Broke the replacement after 1 practice and 2 games in a tournament. Broke the second replacement the night we got it after a bucket and a half of balls. At this point I don’t trust the quality of the prism. Demarini would not give us our $400 back. A supervisor would not call me even though I asked several times, and was told each time one would call. I eventually had to settle for the LXT because tournaments are starting and my daughter needed a bat. The LXT is $50 cheaper than the Prizm. I was denied money back for the price difference and was denied credit for other merchandise. So I essentially paid $400 ( plus shipping broken bats back) for a $350 bat. Not happy. Don’t plan on supporting Demarini, Louisville Slugger or Wilson anymore. Hope Easton keeps the ghost hot for a while.

Total Disappointment Drew Parent

Pros: -Hot out of the box. -Good feel.

Cons: -We now own the second Prism on our team that completely died after two months (or less) of use. DeMarini really needs to pull this bat until they figure out how to make it more durable. I was hoping they figured it out, after reading many reviews such as this, but I made a very expensive mistake. Please learn from my mistake, buy the proven Insane if you're a Demarini die-hard.

Defective out of the box Steve Lentz Parent

Pros: Pretty graphics

Cons: Buyer beware - not usable. Having to go through the hassle of a warranty return before even using it. Note that DeMarini requires the purchaser to cover shipping to the warranty center. I expect better quality and service on a $350 product; why not immediately ship a new one to me?

Great balance, quick to swing Ted S Parent

Pros: My 12U daughter felt her 33" Prism was lighter and easier to swing than her 32" Ghost double barrel (end loaded) of the same weight. Increased bat speed should help her catch to faster pitchers. She loves the appearance (most girls do). Still breaking it in, but looks to have good pop in the cage so far.

Cons: None yet, can't rate durability , been using for 3-4 weeks only indoors. Still breaking in, but doesn't quite have the pop (measured audibly only) of the Ghost double barrel.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the DeMarini Prism -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXPZP? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Can I get the prism bat personalized? Dee
The DeMarini Prism -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXPZP can have the knob personalized.
Cameron
Is this an evenly balanced bat? Kristin
Yes, the DeMarini Prism -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat (WTDXPZP) features a balanced swing weight.
Taylor
Is it available in a 29” length? JC
Sadly, the shortest model the DeMarini Prism -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXPZP is currently manufactured in is 31". Therefore, 29" is not an option at this point in time. You could look at the (WTDXCFS19) if you are wanting a similar bat in 29".
Tyler
My 15 year old daughter is 5'5 and weighs 110 lbs, she needs a new bat and is torn between the DeMarini Prism -10 or the DeMarini Zen -11. She currently has a -13 but needs something heavier. What do you recommend? Pamela Burns
Both the DeMarini Prism -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXPZP and the Zen are going to both be high performing bats. Since you are already moving her up quite a bit in weight, I would recommend going with the Zen -11 as to not let the extra weight take away from her swing speed.
Tori
Is the Prism the same type of double barrel technology that the Easton Ghost has? John
The DeMarini Prism -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXPZP is both ASA and USSSA certified making it different from the Easton Ghost Double Barrel. Both bats though feature a double barrel wall design.
Cameron
Is there a break in process for this bat? James
DeMarini does state that the DeMarini Prism -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXPZP is hot out of the wrapper. However, since it is composite we do still recommend taking 50 -100 swings starting at 50% power and rotating the barrel 1/4'' with each swing.
Tori
Is this bat superior to the the 2019 DeMarini CF Zen -10 (WTDXCFP19)? Chris
Since this is a brand new release, it is a bit early to tell, but DeMarini uses their most advanced technology in constructing the 2020 Prism -10 (WTDXPZP), so it should certainly continue with the quality of the CF Zen line, if not exceed it.
Kyle
My 16 year old is interested in trying this bat. What is your return policy if she hits with it? Gary Jensen
Unfortunately, the DeMarini Prism -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat (WTDXPZP) does not feature a trial period. Once the bat has been used to hit softballs, we would not be able to accept it back for a refund or an exchange.
Taylor
Is there any way my daughter can try out the Prism bat prior to buying it? John M. Wendling
The DeMarini Prism -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXPZP does not feature a trial period so the only way you would be able to try the bat our before making a purchase would be to borrow a teammate's bat.
Cameron
My daughter currently swings CF Zen 31/20. This bat just doesn't seem to have the pop of the CF9 she used previously. For that reason we are interested in the Prism but are concerned with it hurting her swing speed. How does this bad compare in swing weight to the CF Zen? Would we expect to see harder hits without a drop in swing speed by using the prism in 31/21? She is 10yo, 4'10" and weighs 95 lb. Matt O'Brien
The DeMarini Prism -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXPZP is going to be very balanced and even though you are moving her up in weight I don't think you would notice a big drop off in swing speed since it is slightly more balanced than the CF Zen.
Tori
Is this bat end loaded? Joseph Brown
No, the DeMarini Prism -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXPZP is a very balanced bat.
Tori
Really been debating about buying this bat for my daughter but I keep seeing reviews about them getting a bad rattle in short time. Is this common? J
Composite bats, such as the DeMarini Prism -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXPZP, are always more prone to developing a rattle. This is caused with the resin that is injected into the barrel becomes loose; it will generally sound like grains of sand or pebbles and does not impact performance or durability but is something a youth umpire may deem as making the bat unplayable. As of now, the durability does not seem to be an issue with this bat but, since it is a newer release, it is still too early to tell.
Cameron
What is the difference between the 2020 CF and Prism? Cuffy Meigs
The difference between the 2020 CF and Prism is in the barrel design. The Prism uses DeMarini's latest barrel technology featuring the XLC Continuous Fiber Wall to try and create the maximum spring off the bat and utilize the double wall technology as best as possible.
Kyle
How does this bat compare to the Louisville Slugger LXT? Austin
In regard to basic construction, this 2020 DeMarini Prism -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat (WTDXPZP) and the Slugger LXT will both be all-composite bats. As well, both bats feature barrel and handle portions that are fused at a connection point. However, this Prism does feature the gapped wall design to it that it appears the LXT lacks. I am not certain that the gapped wall design gives this Prism a major advantage over the LXT, but DeMarini's hope is that the gapped wall feature will lift this bat's performance above the rest.
Ben
Before spending $400 on a bat (and let me say my 16 year old is an avid DeMarini fan) using 33 or 34 drop 10. I have read reviews of this bat breaking and rattling after only a few reps. Most of the reviews I see here are from much younger players it seems. You can email me privately if that works best for you. I just want an upfront answer. Thanks for understanding. FB
We have heard issues regarding the DeMarini Prism -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXPZP and the durability or lack thereof. The rattling is not something that will cause a performance increase/decrease as this is the result of the adhesive used to plug the end cap. What can happen though, is a youth umpire may disqualify the bat as this same rattling could potentially be caused by those that shave the barrel walls of their bats. Since an umpire is not able to ascertain the cause they error on disqualification of the bat.
Cameron
Do you have the 2020 DeMarini Prism in the -10 range of 28/18 or 29/19? Walter Wyatt
At the time of this posting, a DeMarini Prism -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXPZP will not be available in any options shorter than 31 inches. The DeMarini Prism -11 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXPZS will feature 28-30 inch options.
Daveron
Can you make a bat 33 inch 19 oz is this a special order? Daniel Gonzalez
The DeMarini Prism -10 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXPZP would not be available in -14 size. DeMarini does not offer this size even in their custom options. The closest to the requested size would be the 32" option of the DeMarini Bustos -13 Fastpitch Softball Bat: WTDXBFP19.
Daveron
Can I use this bat in the batting cage, just for soft toss, on the tee, and in real games? Hannah Tharrett
This bat would be great for all those uses. It is also approved for ASA, ISA, NSA, and USSSA use.

About the Brand

In 1992, DeMarini Sports had something to celebrate. The three-year-old company had climbed a rung on the proverbial ladder of success, moving its world headquarters from a dirt-floored barn to a slightly larger metal shack. "It was a big move for us," recalled Ray DeMarini from the batting cage of DeMarini Sport’s present-day Bat Industrial Complex. "The new shop was larger, more storm resistant, and -best of all- it had a heater."

In the early days, DeMarini Sports hardly made a blip on the radar screen of softball. With no retailers and virtually no advertising budget, DeMarini grew steadily by selling high-performance bats directly to customers. While established companies made "juiced" bats for the pros and ordinary bats for the public, DeMarini focused on making one line of high-performance bats for pros and amateurs alike. This approach, combined with a passion for the sport, led to the greatest innovation in softball history - the world’s first multi-wall bat: the DeMarini Doublewall.

Released in 1993, the DeMarini Doublewall was the world’s first multi-wall bat. Like a modern golf driver or oversized tennis racket, the Doublewall had a giant "sweetspot," which allowed average players to hit like pros. DeMarini’s sales exploded, and before long opposing bat manufacturers to notice. DeMarini - a homegrown company led by a softball fanatic - had shaken the establishment silly.

To understand the rise of the DeMarini Dynasty, you need to know Ray DeMarini. A cult hero among avid players, Ray DeMarini emerged on the professional softball scene at the age of 40, a veritable geriatric among younger players. With a scientific approach to training, a batting speed of 96 miles-per-hour and a bombastic attitude, DeMarini fast earned a reputation as a savage competitor.

In June of 1987, ESPN launched a nationwide search for a hardcore player to advise on a series of instructional softball videos. When approached by producer Erich Lytle, the biggest boys in softball repeatedly spoke of a five-foot-seven softball giant—Ray DeMarini. DeMarini had mastered reflex hitting, a technique that drops the ball squarely between the infield and outfield. Impressed with DeMarini's knowledge and scientific approach to training, Lytle not only hired Ray as an advisor—he hired him as the host. Together, they produced Ray DeMarini's Reflex Hitting System, ESPN's most successful home video to date.

Having garnered national recognition through ESPN, Ray turned his efforts toward designing a high-performance bat for the masses. To accomplish this, he needed an engineer. "Not just an engineer," he said, "but a boot-strapping rocket scientist who could build an empire with pocket change." Ray's call was answered by Mike Eggiman. Having grown up on a farm, Eggiman was adept at making the most of a situation. Case in point: the company's first piece of automated bat-making equipment had the heart of an abandoned washing machine.

With Eggiman as Chief Engineer, DeMarini Sports delivered a series of industry firsts: the first multi-wall bat (Doublewall Distance), the first high-performance bat for massive players (Fatboy) and the first high-performance youth bat (Black Coyote).

In 2000, DeMarini joined forces with Wilson Sporting Goods to develop the next generation of hitting technology. Ray believed it was a perfect fit, as both companies shared a vision of developing game-enhancing equipment for avid players. What’s more, the companies had complimentary products: Wilson was the leader in gloves, balls and protective gear, while DeMarini made the world’s finest bats. According to Chris Considine, Vice President/General Manager of Wilson Sporting Goods: "The thing that struck me most about DeMarini was their passion for sports and their true competitiveness.

Within a year, DeMarini unveiled the industry’s first concept bat, the $35,000 F1. Secured under lock and key at the DeMarini Bat Industrial Complex in Hillsboro, Oregon, the F1 served as a technological storehouse for future products, including DeMarini’s landmark Half & Half system.

In December 2001, 12 years after the genesis of DeMarini Sports, Ray DeMarini died of cancer in his Northwest Portland home. He was 55. The next summer, the Portland Metro Softball Association paid homage to the “King of Softball” with the dedication of Ray DeMarini Field. Formerly known as Delta #1, the field was DeMarini’s favorite place to test bats during the early days of business. Ray DeMarini—bat maker and player extraordinaire—was remembered for his high-performance softball bats and unwavering encouragement of everyday players. Today, a 40-foot sign announcing RAY DEMARINI FIELD graces the outfield, and an interpretive display chronicling Ray’s life greets players as they register for games.

More "Insane Dedication to Performance" is in store for tomorrow.
