The team at COMBAT said that "something big" was in the works. But the bat that emerged has pushed through the boundaries of what was even considered possible with a composite bat design! Introducing: the new COMBAT MAXUM! COMBAT has made a name for themselves in the bat industry by consistently delivering bats that offer an extreme combination of a light swing weight and HUGE sweet spot, but the MAXUM takes the crown in both categories. This COMBAT MAXUM -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: MAXSL210 provides hitters with an almost unfair sweet spot that is 20-40% larger than competitor models! Switching to the MAXSL210 will also result in an average of 20% Swing Weight Reduction! These bats are one-piece composite designs created through advanced Precision Molding Technology (PMT). Unlike typical composite bats that are created by rolling/overlapping layers of material, the PMT process injects liquid resin into seamless high-quality carbon sleeves under extreme pressure. The result is an ultra-consistent product that eliminates seams/weak points that you get with the traditional process. That means that players can rest-assured that the MAXUM will deliver perfectly tuned performance over a longer lifespan. The MAXSL210 carries the USSSA BPF 1.15 Performance Certification mark on its taper, a 2 3/4" barrel diameter, and a full twelve (12) month warranty. COMBAT: Measure Up to MAXUM! Free Shipping!
add_circle_outlinePros: Ball goes a long way, even on swings that are less than 100% effort. Barrel is huge. "Sweet spot" is not quite the right word as the ball goes a long way off all parts of the barrel. Grip is really nice.
What a piece of junk!!!! On my 4th one..
add_circle_outlinePros: Great feel and lots of pop.
remove_circle_outlineCons: Been through 3 of these and now on the forth with no warranty. First one had the end cap pop off. Second one cracked. Third one cracked. Don't recommend the Combat Maxum!!!! It's great way to spend close to 400$ and 100$ in returns for warranty replacement if that's you thing.
add_circle_outlinePros: Beautiful looking bat. It has good pop out of the wrapper, but it still needs to be broken in like all composite bats. Lizard skin grip is a great feature. My son has not noticed any vibration from the one-piece design. He is hitting one home run each weekend tournament for the last four tournaments. His batting average has gone up 150 points. Perfect bat.
add_circle_outlinePros: This bat has the largest sweet spot of anything out there right now. My 11U son used the Marucci Hex Alloy and Composite last year and loved them both but the Combat has more pop. The Marucci's suffer from either cracking (went through 3 Hex Composites) and denting (all our Hex Alloys dented in the barrel). Can't comment on durability of the Combat since we've only been using it for 3 months. But, the ball jumps off this bat.
remove_circle_outlineCons: Large barrel means some kids who are not as strong as others may experience a slowdown in bat speed. Probably ok at the younger ages but not when things speed up.
add_circle_outlinePros: Its got a Lizard Skin so I didnt have to spend the extra money on that to rewrap the bat!
remove_circle_outlineCons: First bat showed up to our house dead!! They replaced this bat... Second bat cracked withen 2 months. Combat still gave us the 500 day warinty on the 2nd bat. Now the 3rd bat has no pop.
add_circle_outlinePros: feels good from the moment you grip it. looks good. the ball does come off nice - so long as you have the bat speed. you have to be strong with good bad speed to handle the size you think you're meant to swing. if you're comfortable with a 30/20 swinging a balanced bat, you may not have that same feeling with this stick. not that it's end-loaded - it's not. but it just feels a bit heavier, mainly due to the width of it. once you're comfortable with the size of it and you're fully committed - the ball will go!
remove_circle_outlineCons: as mentioned in the Pro comments, I think it feels a slight bit heavier to my 11U son... as compared to his CF7 (which he loved but it cracked), and his 2015 Easton S3. if you / your kid are into the sound a bat makes, you will have to adjust with the dull, muted sound this produces.
add_circle_outlinePros: son's first time swinging it out of the box was a super league tournament. He put one out! this bat has great pop! he thought it was lighter than his attack bat. he loves it! we got 31 21 drop 10.
remove_circle_outlineCons: everyone wants to swing it.
add_circle_outlinePros: This bat is simply the best bat I've ever seen.
My son plays 10u travel baseball (using the 31in/21oz size) and he's used bats from all the big brands. None of those other bats have the pop that the Combat does.
Great bat all around.
remove_circle_outlineCons: None so far and we've been using it for 2 months.
Is this bat game ready out the box? Or does it need to be broken-in or need to be hot before game use?
The 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Senior League Baseball Bat (MAXSL210) is game usable out of the wrapper but would see an added benefit of a brief break-in process of about 100 swings or so.
What size barrel does it have and will I be able to use it in Junior baseball?
The 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Senior League Baseball Bat (MAXSL210) has a 2 3/4 inch barrel diameter and would not be legal in the Junior division of Little League.
Is the Combat Maxum more suited for contact or power hitters?
The 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Senior League Baseball Bat (MAXSL210) can be used by either style hitter. It has features that would appeal to both styles of play.
Why is the MAXSL210 less expensive than the MAXSL110? The MAXSL210 is a bigger barrel.
The 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: MAXSL210 will be less expensive than the 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: MAXSL110 because the 2 5/8" barrel diameter is in higher demand than the 2 3/4" barrel diameter.
Is this bat comparable to the DeMarini CF8?
This 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Senior League Baseball Bat (MAXSL210) has an all-composite design and is balanced like the CF7 and CF8 bats. However, the big difference will be that the COMBAT MAXUM has a longer barrel length (this feature typically leads to a larger sweet spot) and it is also a single-piece bat (allows for a stiff feel at connection with a ball). If those features of the MAXUM interest you, I would recommend considering a MAXUM.
My player uses a 28"/16 oz Youth MAKO. I want to get him a big barrel bat. Should I go with the same size or should I get a 28"/18 oz bat? I heard these swing lighter than the MAKO. Would a 28"/18 oz option of this be fine for him?
This 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Senior League Baseball Bat (MAXSL210) will feature a 28" model that has a 18 oz weight on it. That listed size will be 2 ounces heavier than the 16 oz MAKO model that your player is currently swinging. However, if you feel that your player is going to be growing as this upcoming season progresses, then I think he will be able to swing the 18 oz weight with few issues (as well, we hear from customers that MAKOs feel heavy sometimes, so I would say that there may not even be much of an adjustment period at all).
Why is the 2 5/8 bat more popular than the 2 3/4? I would think the larger hitting surface would be more popular?
There are a large amount of leagues that do not allow a 2 3/4 inch barrel diameter. That is the main reason why the 2 5/8 inch barrel is more in demand than the 2 3/4 inch barrel that is on the 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: MAXSL210.
Are you able to use this bat in temperatures below 55 to 60 degrees?
The 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: MAXSL210 can be used in these temperature but will be better suited from a performance and durability standpoint in weather temperatures that exceed 70 degrees Fahrenheit.
My son plays in select tournaments and some Pony play is this bat legal for play?
The 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: MAXSL210 is more than likely legal for the tournaments you will play in, but it is illegal for play in Pony. You cannot have a barrel diameter bigger than 2 5/8" in Pony.
Would this bat be a good choice for coach pitch or is this bat more geared for kid pitch?
If your player is allowed to use bats with a 2 3/4" barrel diameter and there is a size option that fits him, you could certainly use this 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Senior League Baseball Bat (MAXSL210) for coach pitch or kid pitch baseball. You will get great performance with the bat if it is used in either style of play.
Do these bats come in alloy instead of composite?
This 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Senior League Baseball Bat (MAXSL210) is only made in an all-composite design. Unfortunately, COMBAT is not currently producing an all-alloy bat.
Is this a good bat for high school baseball team?
The 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: MAXSL210 would not be a good bat for high school baseball as it does not feature BBCOR certification. If one was seeking the COMBAT MAXUM for high school play the following model would be the one to get: 2016 COMBAT MAXUM BBCOR Baseball Bat: MAXAB103.
What is the difference between USSSA BPF 1.15 and 1.16 performance rating?
There currently are no bats being made with a performance rating of 1.16 BPF. However, if there were bats being made in the 1.16 BPF rating, then they would be higher performing than this 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Senior League Baseball Bat (MAXSL210) which features a 1.15 BPF rating.
How can this bat pack: Bat Pack 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -10 and -12 Senior League Baseball Bats: MAXSL210 and MAXSL112 be priced higher than buying each bat individually? Just asking.
Individual bats will periodically go on sale and so there are times when purchasing the bats separately will result in a lower cost then purchasing the bat pack option. This is a rare occurrence and if a customer were to purchase the bat pack option and notice that ordering separately would result in a lower cost we would be more than happy to adjust the order total accordingly.
Son is 5 ft and 103 lbs, and is 11 yrs old. Looking at 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -10 senior league bat maxsl210 or the 2017 model. Do these seem like good options or would you recommend something different? Is there any difference in the 2016 and 2017 models?
The 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: MAXSL210 would be a great option for your player, and we would recommend the 30" 20oz size.
My son just turned 7 and is playing travel ball. Would a 26/16 be a good fit for him?
The best way to determine the correct length bat for a player is by their height and weight. However, a 7 year old is typically swinging a 27" model of the 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: MAXSL210.
My son is 8 and weighs 50 lbs. What size bat do you recommend? 26 or 27 inch?
Either length of bat would be fine for him. What length you go with would also depend on how far he stands from the plate, how strong he is, whether he likes to choke up or not, etc.
My son is almost 9 and weighs 62 lbs. He is 54 inches tall. What size bat do you recommend?
Based on his height and weight, We suggest a 28" model. We are out of stock on that size for the 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: MAXSL210, so you would have to go with the 2017 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL7MX210 to get that size.
What is the difference between the MAXSL110 and the MAXSL210
The difference between the 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: MAXSL210 and the 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: MAXSL110 is the barrel diameter; the 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: MAXSL110 is a 2 5/8" and the 2016 COMBAT MAXUM -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: MAXSL210 is a 2 3/4" barrel diameter.
Is this bat USSSA legal for a 5 year old?
The COMBAT MAXUM -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: MAXSL210 is USSSA approved.
It needs a USA sticker, could you make that happen?
The USA Baseball Tee Ball Sticker Program is an initiative designed to allow for the continued use of tee ball bats that were manufactured prior to the implementation of the new USABat standard. This program will allow individuals and families to purchase approved stickers marked with the USA Baseball logo and language which reads: ONLY FOR USE WITH APPROVED TEE BALLS. The COMBAT MAXUM -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: MAXSL210 will not be legal in any league requiring USA bats due to it not having a stamp and it not being a Tee Ball bat.
