718 Select Big E parent

Pros: I just bought this bat for my son who is a sophomore on varsity and his very first at bat with the 718 Select he smoked a ball to center field farther than he has all season! The pop was better than expected! So far he loves this bat! In his words "This bat Rakes"!

Cons: None

better bats out there lifer player

Pros: looks good

Cons: maybe we got a bad one but the ball does not jump off this bat very well. Cat 7 has tons more pop. Hit 4 late last year as soon as the Cats came out, struggle to hit to the fence with this one. Its just not worth it. We usually go demarini or Marucci, thought we would take a chance. dissapointed

Great High School Bat Midwest Baseball Guy parent

Pros: Purchased for my son this year. A month into the season it is still a workhorse. About a 1/3 of the team uses the bat now at games. They are leaving some nice brand new bats in their bag (i am sure the parents are not happy). It says slightly end loaded, which is correct. It is a nice balance though ... my son is a contact hittet (mostly singles). He has been anle to drive the ball deeper into gaps so far this year and getting more doubles. Some of it is him getting better, but some is this bat. I honestly believe that. Even when he does not hit the ball squarely, their is enough of a sweet spot to still get pop off the bat.

Cons: Definitely cost, but i do not regret the purchase. We typically spend $200 or so for new bats and the extra $150-ish serms to be worth it so far.

Pros: good pop

Cons: Very poor durability and Very poor Customer Service from L.S. for a defective bat. Buyer Beware, my son's bat lasted about half of his high school season before developing a rattle.

It's a beast Anthony player

Pros: I'm usually just a contact hitter but the first time i used this i hit a triple to the fence. It says end loaded but actually has a balanced, smooth swing. No vibration on mishits and great pop.

Cons: The lizard skin grip should be thicker. for a little better control and comfort.

So Far So Good KJ's Mom Parent

Pros: I purchased this bat for my 13 yr. old son. He has only begun using it but he loves it. He was able to hit with it right out of the wrapper. This is a big switch for him from a drop 10 to a drop 3. He said if feels lighter than his other drop 3 bat. I am giving it 5 stars on my initial rating but he has only had it for 3 weeks.

Cons: So far so good.

Have a question about the Louisville Slugger Select 718 BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBS718B3? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

How does this bat's performance compare to the old LS Select 716? I know the 716 was not a 3-piece and that the new Select 718 bat is a 3-piece. We want to replace our Select 716 with a new bat of nearly the same performance in 2018, and we do not want to "swing and miss" on our decision!
Larry
The 2016 Louisville Slugger Select 716 BBCOR Baseball Bat featured the same three-piece hybrid design with the TRU3 Connection that is featured on the 2018 Louisville Slugger Select 718 BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBS718B3, so they are very similar bats to one another. With the same design and feel, as well as performance, I think you will like the Select 718!
Logan
Is this bat full composite or just the handle?
boomstick
This 2018 Louisville Slugger Select 718 BBCOR Baseball Bat (WTLBBS718B3) is a hybrid bat and will feature composite material on the handle and end-cap. However, the barrel of the bat will be alloy.
Ben
I am 16, am 5'7" and 160 pounds and I am looking for a new bat. Do you recommend the 2017 MAKO Beast or the 718? I have power for my size but don't know which one would be best for me? Also what size do you recommend?
Ryan F
I would recommend the 2018 Louisville Slugger Select 718 BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBS718B3 in a 32'' 29 oz.
Max
Will you ever make this bat in a 30/27?
miguelbaseball
The 2018 Louisville Slugger Select 718 BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBS718B3 does not come in a 30'' 27 oz. I would not expect Louisville to make one either.
Max
What is the difference of the Louisville Slugger 718 and the 918?
marcos. j
The 2018 Louisville Slugger Select 718 BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBS718B3 is a hybrid which means it has an alloy barrel, where as the 918 is fully composite.
Tori
What's the difference between this and the DeMarini Voodoo Insane in terms of balance?
Curious George
The 2018 Louisville Slugger Select 718 BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBS718B3 will be more balanced than the DeMarini Voodoo Insane. One will get slightly more flex with the 2018 Louisville Slugger Select 718 BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBS718B3 as well. Other than that, both of these bats will have the hybrid design (alloy barrel and composite handle).
Cameron
Which bat would you recommend in the new Louisville Slugger line for a 14 year old power hitter going into his freshman year in high school that weighs 135 pounds and is 5'4? Also what size should he get?
Chris Jones
Based on what you said about your son and his height and weight I would recommend the 2018 Louisville Slugger Select 718 BBCOR Baseball Bat (WTLBBS718B3) in the 31"/28 ounce size.
Carter
My son is in his senior year then moving on to D1 college ball and I am unsure of going with this or the 918 prime. He has swung the prime for the last 3 seasons but we need to move to a 34. Any insight on durability or college use for either?
jason
The 2018 Louisville Slugger Select 718 BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBS718B3 is going to be around as durable as the 918. I would base your decision on the players preferred material and hitting style.
Trevor
I am 14, 130 lbs and 5'7". What size if bat would you recommend?
tin
Based on your height and weight, we suggest a 31" model of the 2018 Louisville Slugger Select 718 BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBS718B3.
Jason
What's the difference between the 718 and the 918?
drew
The 2018 Louisville Slugger Select 718 BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBS718B3 is a three piece hybrid bat, meaning it has a composite handle and alloy barrel, and is also slightly end loaded. The 2018 Louisville Slugger Prime 918 BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBP918B3 is well balanced, and features a three piece fully composite design.
Logan
I am 5'6" and 138 lbs. What size bat should I get?

Based on your height and weight we would recommend a 32"/29 ounce 2018 Louisville Slugger Select 718 BBCOR Baseball Bat (WTLBBS718B3).
Carter
I am 5'6, age 17 and weight 170 pounds. Which size bat should I get?
E
It is suggested that you use a 32" bat. But if you prefer 33", that would be fine as well. The 2018 Louisville Slugger Select 718 BBCOR Baseball Bat (WTLBBS718B3) would be a good fit.
Mick
I'm 6 ft and 175 lbs. What size should I get?
LarryO
Based upon your height and weight, I would make a recommendation of getting this 2018 Louisville Slugger Select 718 BBCOR Baseball Bat (WTLBBS718B3) in the 33" length as long as you can handle the 30 oz weight on the bat.
Ben
I am a sophomore (15 1/2 years old). I am 5'11" and 180 lbs. What size bat should I buy?
Derek Jones
Based upon your player's height and weight, I would make a general recommendation of getting this 2018 Louisville Slugger Select 718 BBCOR Baseball Bat (WTLBBS718B3) in the 33" length as long as you feel you can handle the subsequent 30 oz weight.
Ben
I am 6'1" 160, what length of the 718 would you recommend?
Jax
Based on your height and weight we would recommend getting the 2018 Louisville Slugger Select 718 BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBS718B3 in a 33 inch model.
Cameron
My son is 13 years old, 82 lbs and 4'7" tall. He plays EBL and Babe Ruth. What size bat should he get?
Mattysmom
For your player (if BBCOR bats are required and being encouraged for use), I would recommend a smaller 30"/27 oz BBCOR bat. Sadly, this 2018 Louisville Slugger Select 718 BBCOR Baseball Bat (WTLBBS718B3) is not made in the 30"/27 oz size. If you wanted a Louisville Slugger model that can be bought in the 30"/27 oz size, I would recommend looking to the 2018 Louisville Slugger Omaha 518 BBCOR Baseball Bat (WTLBBO518B3).
Ben
I am almost 14 years old, stand 5"8 and weigh 145 lbs. I have previously been using a 32" bat, do you recommend getting a 32" or a 33" bat?
Steven
Based upon your height and weight, my general recommendation would be to get another 32" length BBCOR bat. However, if you felt ready to move up to the 33" length, you could certainly consider a 33" length version of this 2018 Louisville Slugger Select 718 BBCOR Baseball Bat (WTLBBS718B3). However, I would note that this Select 718 will feature a slight end-load to it.
Ben
Which bat would you recommend, the 2018 Louisville Slugger Select 718 or the 2018 DeMarini Voodoo Insane End Loaded?
Biens
Both are great options. If you do not want a fully end loaded option I would recommend the 2018 Louisville Slugger Select 718 BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBS718B3.
Carter
What is the barrel size?
george
The 2018 Louisville Slugger Select 718 BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBS718B3 has a 2 5/8 inch barrel diameter.
Dan
My son"s a 15 year old freshman at 5"11' and 145 lbs. I"m debating between the 718 and 918. My concern is the composite and its durability, especially in the mixed weather/temperatures of Pittsburgh. We had bad memories of the Easton Makos cracking. My son went through 6 bats in two years, therefore my concerns with composite bats. Any thoughts on size and bat model?
Hicksy
For a player with his height and weight, we suggest a 32" bat. Also, if you are concerned with the weather breaking a bat, the 2018 Louisville Slugger Select 718 BBCOR Baseball Bat (WTLBBS718B3) would be a good choice. The barrel is alloy allowing for better durability in the winter and colder months of the year.
Mick
My grandson is 12 and will be 13 in March 2018. He weighs 92 pounds and 5'2 tall. He is a good hitter and most always makes contact. What size bat do you recommend for him? He will be on his 1st year Pony League and must use the USA bat.
makalehua
We would recommend a 31" length of bat for someone of his height and weight.
Kyle J.
If a player has a slower swing speed do you recommend the Select 718 end-loaded bat or the 618 Solo?
Parent
A player with slower bat speed will typically benefit more from a balanced model such as the 2018 Louisville Slugger Solo 618 BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBS618B3. Getting a bat that features an end-load, like the 2018 Louisville Slugger Select 718 BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBS718B3, is certainly not out of the equation but for most would not be ideal.
Cameron
My son is 11 yr and 80 lbs liked the 917 bat last year. What would be your recommendation for a replacement bat that meets the new bat standards?
PB
For an 11 year old who has been swinging a Louisville Slugger bat, I would recommend the 2018 Louisville Slugger Omaha 518 -10 USA Baseball Bat in a 30 inch length. This bat will meet the new bat standards you are looking for.
Dan
Is there any difference this model and 717 or 716?
johnny
This 2018 Louisville Slugger Select 718 BBCOR Baseball Bat (WTLBBS718B3) is a hybrid bat (alloy barrel and composite handle) that features a slightly end-loaded swing weight. Unfortunately, there was no Select 717 made by Slugger. Therefore, we could not do a comparison to that bat. However, this 718 and the Select 716 were essentially the same bat. The only big differences are the cosmetics and the differing alloy material used on the barrel of the two bats.
Ben
Are there any differences between the Select 718 and the 2017 DeMarini CF Insane End Load BBCOR Baseball Bat?
Max
Yes, there will be some differences between this 2018 Louisville Slugger Select 718 BBCOR Baseball Bat (WTLBBS718B3) and the 2017 DeMarini CF Insane End Load BBCOR bat. This Select 718 will be a hybrid bat (alloy barrel and composite handle) with a little bit of an end-load to it. The 2017 CF Zen will have a two-piece, all-composite design to it and it will display a very extreme end-load. Overall, the big differences will be the barrel materials and that the CF Zen Insane will have a little more of an end-load than this Select 718.
Ben
What is the difference between the 718 Select BBCOR and the Prime 918 BBCOR bat?
Andy
The 2018 Louisville Slugger Select 718 BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBS718B3 is a hybrid model (alloy barrel and composite handle) with an end-loaded swing weight design while the Prime 918 is a full composite model with a balanced swing weight design.
Cameron
Does the end load really make that big of a difference to the weight? I am a sophomore in high school and I am afraid it might be too heavy or is it just something I am not used to?
dang
The 2018 Louisville Slugger Select 718 BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBS718B3 features a Slightly End Loaded Swing Weight Score (3.0) and should not be too heavy if you get the correct size for your height and weight. However, everybody is going to be different and prefer a different style of bat.
Carter
What is the moment of inertia on this bat?(MOI) I currently use a 2016 Easton hybrid XL with a swing weight index of 10.9. Does the end load of the Louisville Slugger compare with the Easton bat or is it lighter feel?
Ronaldo
Louisville Slugger and Easton are not going to use the same scales to measure their bats. The 2018 Louisville Slugger Select 718 BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBS718B3 has a Slightly End Loaded Swing Weight Score of (3.0). It is going to be more balanced than the Easton Hybrid XL BBCOR Baseball Bat that you were previously swinging.
Carter
I am going into my senior season of baseball and I am looking for a new bat. I previously used the 2015 DeMarini Voodoo. I am looking for a bat with more pop but the end loaded type feel.
Chris
The 2018 Louisville Slugger Select 718 BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBS718B3 utilizes ST 7U1+ alloy to provide you with a massive sweet spot. Furthermore, the Select 718 is a nice option for a player looking to swing an end loaded bat for the first time as it has a slightly end loaded swing weight.
Tyler
Would you say the 718 Select or the Prime 918 would be better for a power hitting college player? I am stuck on which one I should get.
Catcherstud
The 2018 Louisville Slugger Select 718 BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBS718B3 features a bit of an end loaded swing weight, which tends to benefit power hitters over balanced bats like the 2018 Louisville Slugger Prime 918 BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBP918B3.
Logan
What are the differences between the Select 718 and the 2018 DeMarini Voodoo Insane?
Max
Both bats are very similar in that they are multi-piece, hybrid designs and have alloy barrels. The Select 718 will offer a little more flex during the swing than the Voodoo Insane due to it being a three-piece model instead of a two-piece, but other than that the bats will perform very similarly.
Kyle J.
Which bat has more pop the DeMarini CF Insane 2018 BBCOR or the Louisville Slugger Select 718 BBCOR bat?
dave
Both bats should perform very similarly to be honest. The BBCOR regulation is fairly strict on the performance standards and pop of bats, and with both of these being higher end models they will both perform well.
Kyle J.
I had the 715 and loved it. What are some of the differences between the 715 and 718?
Ethan
The 2018 Louisville Slugger Select 718 BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBS718B3 features improved TRU3 technology that helps practically eliminate sting in the hands on mishits while providing an unreal feeling during each at bat. Another new feature is the Speed Ballistic End Cap for an increase in barrel length, better overall weight distribution, and more control through the hitting zone.
Dan
Does Louisville have any plans on bring this bat out in a -10 USSSA model?
Brian
We aren't aware of any plans to make this model in a USSSA model by Louisville at this time. You could try contacting them directly for more information.
Kyle J.
Slugger Select 718 or Slugger Solo 618? Which has more pop?
Jake
Both the 2018 Louisville Slugger Select 718 BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBS718B3 and the 2018 Louisville Slugger Solo 618 BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBS618B3 are held to the same BBCOR performance standards, therefore the pop will be extremely similar. One thing to note, the Select 718 is slightly end loaded which may allow for a slight bump in power over the Solo 618.
Tyler
Is this bat for power hitters? My son is 170lbs, 5"5 what size do you think he should get?
owen21
Yes, the 2018 Louisville Slugger Select 718 BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBS718B3 is a good option for power hitters. Based on your sons height and weight we would recommend a 32"/29 ounce.
Carter
Is it a 2 piece composite?
johnny baseball
The 2018 Louisville Slugger Select 718 BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBS718B3 is classified as a three-piece, hybrid baseball bat. The 2018 Louisville Slugger Select 718 BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBS718B3 features an alloy barrel and a composite handle. I would recommend the 2018 Louisville Slugger Prime 918 BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBP918B3 if you want a fully composite bat.
Dan
My son is 5'10" and weighs about 145 lbs. He's 15 and looking at the Louisville Slugger Select 718. He's been swinging the Quatro and broke 2 of them. Would you recommend the 32 or 33"?
mmac
Based on his height and weight, I would recommend getting the 2018 Louisville Slugger Select 718 BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBS718B3 in a 32''.
Tori
I am 6 foot and 165 lbs. Would this be a good bat for me? If so, what length and weight would you recommend?
wkinch017
This is considered an end loaded model, meaning it has some of the weight shifted to the barrel to give it a top heavy feel. Generally this is preferred by power hitters over contact hitters. Regardless of bat, we would probably recommend a 32" or 33" length for a BBCOR model at your height and weight.
Kyle J.
I'm a 5"10, 180 pounds. When buying this bat, what size would you think I should get, 32" or 33"?
john
Based on your size, I would recommend a 33" size of the 2018 Louisville Slugger Select 718 BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBS718B3. Keep in mind that it is slightly end loaded so it will swing a little bit heavier than a balanced 33" bat would.
Tyler
My son wants this bat and our league allows BBCOR bats. Is this bat legal for my son's league? If not, any suggestions?
Robb The Goalie
The 2018 Louisville Slugger Select 718 BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBS718B3 is a BBCOR bat and will be allowed for all BBCOR certified baseball leagues.
Tyler
I am 5'7" and 140 lbs, what size bat would you recommend?
jim
Per your height and weight, we would recommend getting the 2018 Louisville Slugger Select 718 BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBS718B3 in a 32 inch model.
Cameron
I am trying to decide which bat to pick. The Louisville 718 or the Ghost X from Easton, both BBCOR. Which bat would you recommend for a fast hand/contact hitter going into JV ball?
jim
Both the 2018 Louisville Slugger Select 718 BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBS718B3 and the Easton Ghost X models are excellent choices for a contact hitter. Generally speaking, contact hitters prefer more of a balanced bat which would be the Easton Ghost X. The 2018 Louisville Slugger Select 718 BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBS718B3 will feature more of a slightly end-loaded swing weight feel. Thus whether or not to get the Select 718 from LS is more up to your personal preference as to what type of swing weight you prefer.
Cameron
Can you use it in Babe Ruth baseball?
Trent
The 2018 Louisville Slugger Select 718 BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBS718B3 can be used in Babe Ruth baseball.
Cameron
I am 5'10 and 215lbs. What size do you recommend?
Michael
Given your specifications, I would recommend a 33" option of the 2018 Louisville Slugger Select 718 BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBS718B3.
Tyler
I am 5"10, 145 lbs. Would a 32 be the best size for me?
Nick
With those specifications, we would recommend a 32" bat. The 2018 Louisville Slugger Select 718 BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBS718B3 is currently available in 32" / 29 oz.
Daveron
Is the Select 718 comparable to the Prime 917 because they both are composite?
Johnny
The 2018 Louisville Slugger Select 718 BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBS718B3 will not be the same as the LS Prime 917 as the Select 718 is a hybrid bat with an alloy barrel and composite handle; this bat will also feature more of an end-loaded swing weight. The LS Prime 917 is a two-piece composite model with a balanced swing weight.
Cameron
I bought this bat in December and towards the end of my high school season the end cap has cracked through the middle on the grey plastic over the cap and the black part beneath it. Is this cause for concern? I still have the warranty if needed but for the price of this bat I'm extremely disappointed.
Matthew
If you feel the performance of the 2018 Louisville Slugger Select 718 BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBS718B3 has declined as a result of the end cap issues then we would recommend using your warranty to get the bat replaced by LS.
Cameron
I'm 5"8 and 135 pounds and I was thinking about swinging a 32' but with more reviews I found it was recommended for older highschoolers. Should I not get this bat?
ilikebaseball3738484
The 2018 Louisville Slugger Select 718 BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBS718B3 is indeed certified for high school (freshman through seniors) and collegiate play. All BBCOR bats will be -3. If that is the certification you need, then with your specifications we would recommend either a 31 or 32" bat.
Daveron
I used the 716 for the last 18 months and want a similar bat. Is the 718 balanced similar to the 716, or is there another Louisville Slugger model I should consider?
Cammatt
The 2018 Louisville Slugger Select 718 BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBS718B3 will have similar feel to the 716 and would be the newer option for the 2016 Louisville Slugger Select 716 BBCOR Baseball Bat: BBS7163.
Max
I am 5 ft 2 inch, which size bat should I get?
Anoyonynous
Based on your specifications, I would recommend a 30" option. Unfortunately, the 2018 Louisville Slugger Select 718 BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBS718B3 is not available in that size.
Tyler
I tend to like stiffer bats, would this be a good option for me?
elite2
With the 2018 Louisville Slugger Select 718 BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBS718B3 being a three piece bat, it would not be a very stiff option. From Louisville Slugger, stiff options would be the 2018 Louisville Slugger Omaha 518 BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBO518B3 or the 2018 Louisville Slugger Solo 618 BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBS618B3.
Logan
Which bat is more end loaded: the Select 718, or Demarini Voodoo Insane?
2stud
The DeMarini Voodoo Insane will be more end loaded than the 2018 Louisville Slugger Select 718 BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBS718B3 because the Select 718 only utilizes a slight end loaded swing weight.
Tyler
Is it worth the $80 to buy the 718 or would it be more reasonable to save money on the 618? I'm 6'4 160.
nek
When deciding between the 2018 Louisville Slugger Select 718 BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBS718B3 and the 2018 Louisville Slugger Solo 618 BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBS618B3, you have to decide which bat you would enjoy the feel of more. The 2018 Louisville Slugger Select 718 BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBS718B3 is a multi piece and loaded option, with less sting and vibration. The 2018 Louisville Slugger Solo 618 BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBS618B3 is a one piece alloy option that will provide more stiffness than the 718, and is the lightest swinging Slugger bat out there.
Logan
I am 6'2", 210 lbs and a college player, would a 34" be ideal?
Big Mike
Any size from 33", 33.5", or 34" would work for your size, it comes down mostly to personal preference.
Kyle J.
Will the composite handle break just like other composite bats?
ethan
The 2018 Louisville Slugger Select 718 BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBS718B3 wouldn't be any more or less durable than other two piece bats. The hybrid design just allows for a slightly end loaded swing weight and hot out of the wrapper performance with the alloy barrel.
Logan
What are the 3 most end-loaded hybrid bats out there? Are there stats to prove it?
JJ
At this time, there aren't any numbers or stats to show the amount of end load a bat has, but certain manufacturer's are working towards a system that would allow for comparison of swing weight across most brands. A few 2018 end loaded hybrid bats would be this 2018 Louisville Slugger Select 718 BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBS718B3, the 2018 Easton Beast X Hybrid BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB18BXH, and the 2018 DeMarini Voodoo Insane BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTDXVIC.
Logan
My son is a senior in high school, 5'9" and 165 lbs. He is playing in college. This 2019 model 719 came highly recommended by his high school coach but I am wondering if this older model is basically the same bat? Could you please explain the differences between the two models?
Mike Nardella
The 2018 Louisville Slugger Select 718 BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBS718B3 and 2019 719 models are very similar as far as performance and feel. The biggest difference is the 2019 model features VCX technology that creates independent movement between the barrel and handle.
Tori
Would this bat in a 31'' 28 oz. be a good size for someone who's 5'9'' 140 pounds? Is it pretty end loaded?
Baseball Player
Yes,a 31'' in the 2018 Louisville Slugger Select 718 BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBS718B3 could work. Based on the height and weight, I would recommend a 32'', however, if you are more comfortable at a 31'' then that size is appropriate as well. It is slightly end loaded.
Tori
I’m 5’9" tall and 165 lbs. I’m 13 and just beginning the Babe Ruth league and I know you need a USA or BBCOR bat. I've been using a drop 10 for years and I want something balanced for a lighter swing but stiff for more power. What would you suggest?
NOAH
I would suggest a one-piece, aluminum model if you are looking for that stiff and light swinging feel. Some great options to consider would be the Marucci Cat 7 or Cat 8 BBCOR, the Rawlings VELO BBCOR, or the Easton Alpha XL if you are also looking for an end-loaded design that is really made for a power hitter.
Kyle J.
Durability based, how does the 718 Select compare to the 918 Prime?
Micah
Although it is tough to say for sure whether the Louisville Slugger Select 718 BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBS718B3 is/was more durable than the Prime 918, generally speaking the alloy models will last longer.
Cameron
I am 15 years old and I am 6'2 205. Is this a good bat for me and if so does it come in a 33'' model?
Cameron
The Louisville Slugger Select 718 BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBS718B3 would be a great option for a 15 year old of your size. Unfortunately, we are out of stock in the 33'' model in the Louisville Slugger Select 718 BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBS718B3. Based upon your size you might be able to swing the 34'' model, which we do have in stock.
Max
Is there a warranty and, if there is, would I need to pay extra?
Mee
The Louisville Slugger Select 718 BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBS718B3 features a 12 month warranty from LS. This warranty starts from the date of purchase for all new models. If the bat were to break within the 12 month warranty a consumer would be able to send their bat back to LS for a one-time replacement after completing their warranty return form.
Cameron
When will there be another 33 inch 718 in stock?
Fred elliott
We do not have an exact date on when we will have the 33'' 30 oz available in the Louisville Slugger Select 718 BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBS718B3.
Max
Does this bat come in a 32/29?
Will
LS did make the Louisville Slugger Select 718 BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBS718B3 in a 32 inch 29 ounce model but unfortunately we have sold out of this size. Since the bat is a closeout model we can no longer restock the 32 inch size as of (4/17/19). We do have the Louisville Slugger Select Hybrid 719 BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBS719B3 in stock at 32 inches.
Cameron
Will you guys ever have this bat in size 32/29?
Hayden Pardoe
With the Louisville Slugger Select 718 BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBS718B3 being a 2018 model, we will not be restocking it in any size. Keep an eye out for the release of the 2020 version of the bat later this summer!

About the Brand

In 1842, J. Frederick Hillerich emigrated with his family from Baden-Baden, Germany to the United States. Eight years before, the 1834 Book of Sports had made its debut as the nation's first publication covering baseball. But when he arrived in Baltimore, J. Frederick Hillerich would never have dreamed of the future impact his family would have on America's favorite pastime.

After a short while, the Hillerichs moved to Louisville, where J. Fred started a woodworking shop in 1856. Two of his sons, Adam and John Andrew "Bud" were born in the United States and would later join their father in his business. By 1864 "J.F. Hillerich, Job Turning" was in operation and filled orders for businesses by custom-turning everything from balusters to bedposts.

The firm thrived, and by 1875 the little woodworking shop employed about 20 people. In 1880 Bud Hillerich, who was an amateur baseball player, became an apprentice in his father's shop. Young Bud made his own baseball bats along with bats for several of his teammates.

The debate over the origins of the first bat continues to generate controversy among baseball enthusiasts, but the younger Hillerich was most certainly involved in getting his father's business involved with what would become the company's signature item. According to company legend, the first bat was turned by Bud for Pete "The Old Gladiator" Browning in 1884. Browning was a star on Louisville's professional American Association team - the Eclipse. On a spring afternoon Bud, then seventeen, witnessed Browning break his favorite bat. Bud offered to make a bat for his hero, and Browning accepted. After the young wood shop apprentice lathed a quality stick from white ash, according to the story, Browning got three hits with it in the next game.

Louisville Slugger gloves are worn by more pitchers in Major League Baseball than any other glove.

Great Look, Great Bat Ken player

Pros: Insane pop, just like the Cat 7. The wood grain looks great, and the vibration is nonexistent. Used it for three games, and got at least two doubles in all of them. Great overall bat.

Cons: The wood grain gets dirty really easily, so it makes me want to clean it more often than not.

Better than expected Felix parent

Pros: My son fell in love with his CAT7 when it first came out and after a year and half, he was ready for a new one. He liked the wood look, but I was skeptical that the bat was all looks and no performance. I was wrong. My son swears it outperforms his CAT7 and I can't argue with him. Similar feel and balance to the 7 and just as much, if not more pop.

Have a question about the Marucci Posey28 Pro Metal BBCOR Baseball Bat: MCBP28? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

How does this bat differ from CAT 7?
Steve
This Marucci Posey28 Pro Metal BBCOR Baseball Bat (MCBP28) features the same AZ4X Alloy as the CAT 7 bats. However, it does not appear to have the AV2 knob (which lowers vibration). Besides the cosmetics and feel in regard to vibration, this Posey28 should be pretty similar to the CAT 7.
Ben
From the description, it sounds like the shape is not the same as the CAT 7. Here is the description: "..the sleek design of MLB All-Star Buster Posey's game day wood bat." Is my assumption correct?
Scott
If the shape of this Marucci Posey28 Pro Metal BBCOR Baseball Bat (MCBP28) is different from the shape of the CAT 7, I would imagine that the difference is very slight. I believe the description listed is describing the "wood-like" cosmetics on this bat.
Ben
What is changing about the bat rules in 2018? Is this bat good for the 2018 high school season?
Brandon
The BBCOR rules are not changing for the 2018 season so the Marucci Posey28 Pro Metal BBCOR Baseball Bat: MCBP28 will still be legal. The only leagues that are changing their rules for 2018 are AABC, Babe Ruth/Cal Ripken, Dixie, Pony, and Little League.
Cooper
Does it have the bubble sweet spot like the CAT 7?
King11
We are not aware of the Marucci Posey28 Pro Metal BBCOR Baseball Bat: MCBP28 having the same "bubble sweet spot" like that of the CAT 7. This would be a question better directed towards Marucci directly. Both of these bats will feature the AZ4X alloy and a balanced swing weight though.
Cameron
How did this bat stack up against all the other 2017 BBCOR bats?
CJ
The Marucci Posey28 Pro Metal BBCOR Baseball Bat: MCBP28 is very similar in terms of construction, swing weight, and sweet spot size to the Cat 7 from Marucci, which is one of the highest rated and most popular BBCOR bats.
Logan
Does it come with the grip?
nick
The Marucci Posey28 Pro Metal BBCOR Baseball Bat: MCBP28 will come equipped with the grip shown in the photo.
Cameron
Can you use it in USSSA baseball tournaments?
peyton luther
Yes, you can use the Marucci Posey28 Pro Metal BBCOR Baseball Bat: MCBP28 in USSSA tournaments.
Carter
I"m trying to decide between this bat and the Mako Beast. Are there any major differences besides the Beast having a longer sweet spot?
Carter
The main difference between these two bats is the construction of each bat. The Marucci Posey28 Pro Metal BBCOR Baseball Bat: MCBP28 is a one-piece all aluminum bat which will feel stiffer than the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MK, which is a two-piece fully composite bat.
Tyler
I am between this and the Cat7. Have been swinging a Cat6. Toyed with getting the Velo for this season. I am 16, 6 ft, and 145 lbs. I like a balanced bat. Any recommendations?
JW
The Marucci Posey28 Pro Metal BBCOR Baseball Bat: MCBP28 and the 2017 Marucci CAT 7 BBCOR Baseball Bat: MCBC7 are almost identical. The biggest difference will be the cosmetics of each bat. With regard to your height and weight, I would recommend swinging a 33 inch bat with the option of moving up to the 34 inch option.
Dan
Is the Posey28 Metal Bat balanced or end loaded compared to the Cat7 Connect?
Ken
The Marucci Posey28 Pro Metal BBCOR Baseball Bat: MCBP28 is going to feature a balanced design while the Marucci Cat 7 Connect features a slightly end loaded design.
Carter
Does this bat contain the same amount of pop as the Cat 7?
Chase
Yes, this bat is essentially a Cat 7 with a different cosmetic paint job.
Kyle J.
For a 5'7" contact hitter which would you suggest, the Posey28 Pro Metal or the Solo 618?
JV
Whether to get the Marucci Posey28 Pro Metal BBCOR Baseball Bat: MCBP28 or the LS Solo 618 would be more of personal preference as both bats are excellent options for a contact hitter. The main difference between the two one-piece alloy bats with balanced swing weights is the composite end cap of the LS Solo 618; this may make this bat feel more balanced.
Cameron
Does it matter if I change the grip to one that is much thinner or would that cause additional vibration?
TR
With the Marucci Posey28 Pro Metal BBCOR Baseball Bat: MCBP28 being a one-piece alloy bat, it is prone to higher levels of vibrations on contact. Therefore, thinning the grip tape could certainly cause an increase in total vibrations felt when hitting.
Tyler
Is it USSSA approved?
Hunter
This is a BBCOR model, so it has the BBCOR .50 certification, not the 1.15 USSSA BPF certification.
Kyle J.
Does the Posey28 BBCOR bat have a AV2 knob like the Cat 7? In addition, are there any other differences between the two that could be game-changing? Thanks!
Dylan
The Posey28 does not seem to carry the AV2 knob design used in the Marucci Cat 7 models, but that appears to be the only significant difference between the two designs.
Kyle J.
Is this a balanced or end loaded bat?
Adam
The Marucci Posey28 Pro Metal BBCOR Baseball Bat: MCBP28 is a balanced bat.
Cameron
Do you have a 33” for $99?
Mark Cremeens
At the time of this posting, we are out of stock of the Marucci Posey28 Pro Metal BBCOR Baseball Bat: MCBP28 in a 33" option.
Daveron
Is this bat USSSA Certified?
Evans
The Marucci Posey28 Pro Metal BBCOR Baseball Bat: MCBP28 will not feature the USSSA stamp. However, according to USSSA rules, a BBCOR .50 stamp is legal for play.
Daveron
Do you guys have this bat in 33/30?
Alex
No, unfortunately we are out of the 33/30 in the Marucci Posey28 Pro Metal BBCOR Baseball Bat: MCBP28.
Tori
Would you recommend the Louisville Select 719 or this Marucci Posey28?
Jack
If you prefer a slightly end-loaded swing weight then you will want to go with the Louisville Slugger 719. If you prefer a more balanced feel and stiffer swing, then go with this Marucci Posey28 BBCOR (MCBP28).
Kyle

About the Brand

At Marucci, we make our products the same way you play baseball: Hard work, determination, and attention to detail. This product is handcrafted. We are committed to never releasing a product before it meets the standard set forth by our wood bat. Our process is proven. The only way to achieve perfection is to accept nothing else. We first have gloves to Big Leaguers in our inner circle to break in and critique - knowing the extreme situations they would be put in. Players like Chase Utley allowed us to comprehend what a player needs and looks for in an ideal fielding glove. The Marucci player advisory board was integral in testing, tweaking, and ulitmatley perfecting the glove line to have the feel and features that matter to players. Understanding this professional standard of perfection has allowed us to handcraft a performance product that will last consistently maximize your game. Handcrafted, one by one, with the highest quality materials, for superior quality and feel, these gloves will require a gradual break-in period which provides a longer lasting form and shape. Professionally Inspired. Precision Crafted. Marucci: Honor the Game.
