Pros:  I needed a bbcor bat for high school and picked this bat. It has great pop and is for a contact hitter best alloy bat I ever had. Made a good choice on this bat

Cons:  Does not have good pop on rawlings recreational balls their too soft other than that excellent bat

Pros:  Like the 31/32" composite handle and the sound of the metal barrel. Fast bat; although advertised as a balanced bat there is a slight end load making it a good choice to make the transition to BBCOR. Hitting farther then ever before. Extended barrel compares to the more expensive composites thanks to the internal core technology. The bat has POP....but at a competitive price.

Cons:  White tap handle will show

Pros:  Got this bat for playing in High School, best perchase Ive made. Large sweetspot, absolutely no vibration, and pop is fantastic.

Cons:  Grip wears down after a few uses. (I replaced it with LizardSkin after noticing this), and if not hit in barrel, ball will not go more than a foot due to 100% of the material is located in the barrel

Pros:  Very light evenly weighted bat. Great Pop. Good grip. Seems durable. You can NOT beat this bat for the money. I bought this as a team bat and a lot of the kids are using this instead of their bats. It has very good pop.

Pros:  Great pop off this bat. The first twenty hits of the season were remarkably better distance. Good line drives too. It's heavier by an ounce, and my son (14 yo) is also bigger, taller stronger, etc., but I still feel that this bat is an all around good pick. For 89.00 this bat is a steal over other bats of similar quality.

Cons:  Your son has to fit into the lengths available, which are only 33 & 34. I have no idea about the durability, as I just bought it, but it seems nicely constructed.

Is this bat legal for the 2018 season?

The Easton S2Z ZCORE BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB15S2Z is allowed for use in any leagues allowing BBCOR bats. High school and college players are not affected by the rule changes at the youth level. If playing at a level below high school it would be best to check with league rules to see if they are allowing BBCOR bats or only those stamped with the USA stamp.

At this time, there is only a 34"/31 oz size of this bat. How much of a difference is there between the 34"/31 oz size and the 32"/29 oz size?

If your player us used to swinging a 32"/29 oz size of baseball bat, then this Easton S2Z ZCORE BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB15S2Z) will feel extra heavy and extra long at 34"/31 oz. Your player will definitely notice the difference.

My son uses a 2 1/4 Easton S2 composite bat that is 29/16oz. It looks like this one. He will be trying out for his middle school team and needs to use a BBCOR bat. He also is playing travel and can use a BBCOR bat there as well. So, we are looking for a BBCOR bat. He is concerned that the BBCOR drop 3 bat will be too heavy and slow his bat speed. He is 12 and is 5 foot 135 pounds. What size bat do you recommend for him?

Going from a 29"/16 ounce to a BBCOR bat is going to be a big jump. I would recommend a 29"/26 ounce 2017 Easton Z-CORE Speed BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB17ZS) for your son.

Carter Expert

My son is 14 years old, 6'1", 225 lbs. Would you recommend the 34 inch BBCOR bat for him? If not, why?

I am a sophomore in high school and I am looking for a bat that will last for a while, hopefully to my senior year. Would this bat do the job or should I look for a different Easton model?

There is no guarantee on how long the bat would last, but it is covered under a 12 month manufacturer warranty with Easton. Which bat has more pop: the S2Z or the S3Z?

Since both the 2015 Easton S2Z ZCORE Baseball Bat (BB15S2Z) and the S3Z are BBCOR certified, they both must meet the same performance standards, which will limit the top performance for each bat. Because of this, they will have the same amount of "pop". Ultimately, it will come down to if you prefer a one-piece design, like the S3Z, or if you like the two-piece flex of the S2Z.

Tessa Expert

Is the S2Z different from previous S2 models?

The 2015 Easton S2Z ZCORE Baseball Bat (BB15S2Z) will feature a two piece hybrid design with a composite handle and an alloy barrel. The S2Z does feature an updated alloy barrel, however the performance of the bat will be very similar to previous S2 BBCOR models.

What kind of barrel is the S2Z? Besides good sweet spot, is the barrel alloy or is the barrel like the XL1 with the same type of core?

The 2015 Easton S2Z ZCORE Baseball Bat (BB15S2Z) features a hybrid design, which means that it features an alloy barrel and composite handle. It will feature a barrel comprised of Easton's all new Hyperlite Matrix Alloy material. It will not feature a composite barrel, like the one featured on the XL1. The S2Z also features a balanced swing weight, whereas the XL1 will feature an end loaded swing weight.

Does this bat have good pop?

The 2015 Easton S2Z ZCORE Baseball Bat: BB15S2Z is a very high performing bat and is a great option for just about any player. What is the difference between the S2Z and the S1Z?

It would not be called the S1Z, that model is simply the 2015 Easton S1 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB15S1). The difference between that S1 model and the 2015 Easton S2Z ZCORE Baseball Bat (BB15S2Z) is the design. The barrel on the 2015 Easton S2Z ZCORE Baseball Bat (BB15S2Z) will be slightly shorter than on the 2015 Easton XL1 BBCOR Baseball Bat (BB15X1) but it will feature a much more balanced feel giving it a lighter swing weight.

I am 15 years old 5'10" and 210 lbs. What length bat is recommended? Also, how does this bat compare to the Easton XL series?

I would recommend using the 33" 30 oz. model in the 2015 Easton S2Z ZCORE Baseball Bat (BB15S2Z). The S2Z ZCORE is a two piece hybrid with an extended barrel, giving it a slightly end loaded swing weight. Does the soft outer shell make the bat less durable? Is it easy to chip or peel off?

We have not seen any durability issues regarding the 2017 Mizuno MAXCOR BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MAX with regards to the Viscoelastic Polyurethane (VP) Sleeve.

Just curious why this bat is marked down so much and also I was told by the local Little League that all BBCOR bats are still legal to use in 14U and doesn't have to have the USA stamp on it. Do you know if that is correct? I'd hate to go to a game and the umpire or other team throw the bat out and not be able to use it anymore.

The 2017 Mizuno MAXCOR BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MAX is marked down due to it being a closeout model from Mizuno. As for being able to use a BBCOR bat in Little League, the only division that allows BBCOR in place of a USA model would be the Senior Division.

Does the VP sleeve have any sort of temperature restrictions? It's recommended that composite bats shouldn't be used if it is too cold (like 60*), is the VP similar? Or any issues with using it in extremely hot temps (like 95*+)?

Just like composite and aluminum bats we do not recommend using the 2017 Mizuno MAXCOR BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MAX with the Viscoelastic Polyurethane (VP) Sleeve in temperatures below 55 degrees.

Is the 2017 Mizuno MAXCOR a more end loaded bat like the 2016 model or is it more balanced?

The 2017 Mizuno MAXCOR BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MAX features a balanced swing weight. The 2016 model was also balanced, but the first model in 2015 was considered an end loaded bat. The 2016 and 2017 are both more balanced than the original 2015 model.

Two part question. Part one, how's the pop off this bat compared to the 2017 Mizuno Covert? Two, how does the pop compare to the 2016 Mizuno MAXCOR?

The 2017 Mizuno MAXCOR BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB17MAX will have similar performance capabilities as that of the 2017 Covert and 2016 MAXCOR. With BBCOR bats, there is not one bat that has shown greater performance capabilities than others that are on the market. With all of these bats featuring barrel wall designs to match performance capabilities of wood it comes down more to personal preference with regards to feel and material used. As well, pop cannot be accurately measured from one bat to the next so this is more opinion based. If one was basing it off of reviews, then the advantage would go towards the 2016 MAXCOR.
