My son is about 4 feet 6 inches tall and 65 lbs. What size bat would you recommend? ray
Based on your son's height and weight, I would recommend getting the Marucci CAT 8 -10 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: MJBBC8 in a 29''.
Tori
My son 7 years old and is 48" tall. What size bat and which Marucci Cat7 or 8 would you recommend? Ejc
We would recommend either a 27 or 28 inch bat. A Marucci CAT 8 -10 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: MJBBC8 features the new stronger alloy which allows for thinner barrel walls. You cannot go wrong with a Cat 7 or 8. Both are durable one piece alloy options. With large sweet spots.
Daveron
My son is 7 years old, 55 pounds and is 4"2'. What length should he swing? coop baseball
Based on your player's size and weight, I would recommend a 27" version of this Marucci CAT 8 -10 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: MJBBC8.
Tyler
My son is 48 inches tall and 50-55 lbs. What size do you recommend for him? Dmite
Per your son's height and weight, we would recommend getting the Marucci CAT 8 -10 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: MJBBC8 in a 27 inch model.
Cameron
Hi, whats the difference in this bat and the MSBC810 both in 27/17? Matt
The Marucci CAT 8 -10 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: MJBBC8 in constructed to only be used in coach/machine pitch leagues at velocities lower than 40mph. The Marucci CAT 8 -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: MSBC810 can be used in kid pitch and used at higher velocities.
Tyler
What has more pop the Cat 8 or the Cat Composite? 9holehitter
Right out of the wrapper, this Marucci CAT 8 -10 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: MJBBC8 will have more pop because of the alloy material used in its' construction. However, once the composite model breaks in you will see a very similar performance level from both as they are certified USSSA bats.
Tyler
What bat size would you recommend for a 9 year old kid playing kid pitch? He's 48 inches tall. I was looking into both of the 27 inch models in Senior league and Junior big barrel, and I'm still not sure what the best choice is? Trey
For a 9 year old playing kid pitch, you will want to go with the Marucci CAT 8 -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: MSBC810 as it is a more durable model constructed to withstand the higher levels of velocity than the Marucci CAT 8 -10 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: MJBBC8. Considering his size, I would go with that 27" model you've been looking at.
Tyler
Hello, I have a six year son, I'm trying to find him a bat. He plays in the Pony Baseball Shetland Division and trying to find him a good bat, and this brand caught my attention.Thank you and hope to hear from you soon. shoeless Joe Jackson belong in Hall of Fame
The Marucci CAT 8 -10 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: MJBBC8 would be a great choice for young players. The only concern would be the potential of this bat being too heavy for players in a tee ball league.
Daveron
My son is 8 years of age and in kid pitch. He swings a 27/15 composite bat now, but what size Cat 8 do you recommend for him? Also, should he swing the jr. big barrel or the USSSA bat? He is about 53” in height and about 80lbs. tk
Given your player's specifications, I would recommend a 28 or 29" bat for your player. Considering he is 8, it will depend on the style of baseball he plays in on whether or not he should swing a Junior Big Barrel or USSSA bat. For a player in machine/coach pitch, this Marucci CAT 8 -10 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: MJBBC8 is recommended. However, if your player is already in kid pitch, you will want to go the route of the USSSA bat.
Tyler
Can the CAT 8 be used for coach pitch and kid pitch? Brandon Melancon
The Marucci CAT 8 -10 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: MJBBC8 is best served for coach pitch only. For kid pitch the Marucci CAT 7 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat: MSBC7X10 will be a better match; you will get better durability from this bat during kid pitch competition.
Cameron
It sounds like our league is using a soft-core, t-ball style ball. What balls are these bats made for? Mark
This Marucci CAT 8 -10 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat (MJBBC8) can be used with regular baseballs as long as the velocity of the pitches is at 40 mph or below. Because of that, you should be able to use this bat with soft-core baseballs.
Ben
Is this bat just for coach pitch leagues? My almost 8yr old son is starting a 8u travel league where kids pitch. Is this bat good for that? what are your thoughts on this vs a carbon bat? Brian
The Marucci CAT 8 -10 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: MJBBC8 is designed for coach pitch leagues with low pitch velocities. For live pitch baseball, you'd want to check out the Marucci CAT 8 -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: MSBC810. When trying to choose between alloy (such as these two bats) or composite, it just comes down to player preference. I would personally lean toward the Marucci CAT 8 -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: MSBC810, but other players may prefer the two piece feel of the Marucci CAT 8 Composite -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: MSBCCP10. (NP)
Logan
What is the true weight of the 27-17? Stephen Hoskins
The industry standard for a bat's true weight is for it to be .5 - 2 ounces heavier than the listed weight. This is across all manufacturers. The Marucci CAT 8 -10 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: MJBBC8 comes in about 1.4 ounces heavy. The 27" will weigh about 18.5 ounces.
Daveron
My son currently has the CAT 7 has had it for a couple years. Is there a major difference between that and the new model to where it's an absolute must to upgrade? Current bat is starting to look pretty torn up just, cosmetic though. juan
The Marucci CAT 8 -10 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: MJBBC8 will feature an upgrade to the AV2 knob, the AZ105 alloy upgrade, giving the bat a lower M.O.I. and a higher response rate compared to the previous CAT 7. Whether or not to pick up the new CAT 8 would depend more on what the current bat has to offer still. If your CAT 7 bat is still performing well then we would recommend continued usage until such a time as it becomes defective.
Cameron
My son is 8 years old, weighs 78 pounds and close to 4 feet tall. He is going into his first year of kid pitch, would this be a good bat for him to start with? Stephen Meche
This Marucci CAT 8 -10 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat (MJBBC8) is actually a Junior Big Barrel bat and really only meant for use with coach pitch or machine pitch baseball. I would recommend getting an item that is listed as "Senior League" or "USSSA" as those bats are meant for kid pitch use. I would recommend checking out the Marucci CAT 7 -10 Senior League Baseball Bat (MSBC7X10) in the 28"/18 oz size.
Ben
Is the junior barrel going to have same pop as the senior league barrel? Amber
A Junior Big Barrel bat, like the Marucci CAT 8 -10 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: MJBBC8, is best served for younger players between the ages of 6-8 that are in coach pitch leagues. With a JBB bat, the barrel walls are not designed to handle anything exceeding 40 MPH with regards to pitch speed. If your player can find a Senior League bat in the length and weight needed, then we would recommend going that route to gain better durability.
Cameron
My son is 6 years old and 4 feet tall and 56 pounds, what size bat does he need? Matt Rose
Per your son's height and weight, we would recommend getting the Marucci CAT 8 -10 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: MJBBC8 in a 27 inch model.
Cameron
My nephew is 10 years old, 4'10", 94 lbs with an athletic build and very strong. He is on his 2nd year hitting with a 30 inch -10 drop and will grow 2 inches before next season. I'd like to get him something he can use for the next 2 years. What size should I consider? Anthony
Per your nephew's current height, weight and age, we would recommend getting the Marucci CAT 8 -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: MSBC810 in a 30 inch and 20 ounce model. The Marucci CAT 8 -10 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: MJBBC8 is designed for coach pitch, ages 6-8, where the velocity is less than 40 MPHs. You can always go to a slightly larger bat at 31/21 or 32/22 but this could result in a lower performance.
Cameron
My son is 6 and is 44” tall and about 50lbs. (He’s small) He’s currently in a 25/15. He’s playing on an 8U kid pitch travel team with hard balls. My dilemma is the senior bats are too big but the junior bats aren’t recommended for kid pitch. I’m torn what would you recommend? Craig
This is indeed an unfortunate situation; it does put smaller and younger players at a disadvantage. As junior big barrel bats are not recommended for anything outside of machine/coach pitch of 40mph. For this specific situation, a Marucci CAT 8 -10 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: MJBBC8 in 26" may be the best option, if your player is unable to use a senior league option in 27" and choke up. In this, you do risk potential durability issues as your player continues to face higher velocity pitching.
Daveron
What is the difference between the MSBC810 and the MJBBC8 besides the price? Chris Lyman
The Marucci CAT 8 -10 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: MJBBC8 is designed for players between the ages of 6-8 for coach pitch leagues. This bat will be designed for velocity below 40 MPH. For kid pitch leagues, the MSBC810 would be the bat to use. This bat will hold up better at higher velocities as well as players who can swing a bat at higher rates of speed.
Cameron
My son is 5'1 (10 years old) and about 100 lbs. What size bat should he get? Christopher
Based on his height and weight, I would recommend a 31''. A -10 is the appropriate weight range for his age. I would not recommend getting the Marucci CAT 8 -10 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: MJBBC8 as Junior Big Barrel bats are designed specifically for tee ball and coach pitch and are not meant to hold up against kid pitch. I would recommend looking that the Marucci CAT 8 -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: MSBC810 instead.
Tori
What's the difference between the 27" drop 10 MJBBC8 bat and the 27" drop 10 MSBC810 bat ? (Youth big barrel vs Junior big barrel even though they are the same weight, length and diameter) Jason Wait
The Marucci CAT 8 -10 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: MJBBC8 true weight will come in less than the MSBC810. The junior big barrel bats are constructed for coach/machine pitch. These bats are not constructed to see pitching above 40mph. The standard youth big barrel (MSBC810) is constructed with a thicker barrel for kid pitch.
Daveron
What is the difference between Junior Big Barrel and Youth Big Barrel? shane
"Junior Big Barrel" is a term used for bats that are designed for coach pitch and machine pitch only, dealing with pitch velocites around 40 mph or lower. Youth Big Barrel bats are designed for kid pitch and can handle faster velocities over 40 mph without the increased risk of durability issues that a Junior Big Barrel model would.
Kyle
My son is six years old; he will be playing baseball this year for the first time. His talent is natural. What bat should you recommend that doesn't cost me a fortune but a good quality bat? Luis
Marucci's alloy models like this Cat 8 are some of the best value bats you can buy right now. They can perform like top of the line models without the high price tag of a full composite model.
Kyle
What’s a better bat the cat7 cat8 or the f5? Cain breeden
The Marucci Cat 7 & Cat 8 are very similar and a step above in performance from the F5. The Cat 8 will be slightly end-loaded compared to the Cat 7, which is the main difference between the two.
Frank.
My son is almost 8. He is 50 3/4" tall and weighs about 70 pounds. Which bat would you recommend? Mary Sloan
If your 8 year old is playing coach pitch, then the Marucci CAT 8 -10 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: MJBBC8 would be a good option to consider. If he is in kid pitch, then you want to consider the Marucci CAT 8 -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: MSBC810 as these bats will have a barrel wall design equipped to handle velocity of 40 MPH or greater. As for the size to consider, based on his height and weight, we would recommend a 28 inch 18 ounce bat.
Cameron
Can this bat be used for kid pitch 8-9 yr old? joe
This is a Junior Big Barrel Bat, which these are only designed for coach and machine pitch. We would not recommending using one for kids pitch.
Ryan
Is this bat also BBCOR approved? Katie
The Marucci CAT8 -10 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: MJBBC8 is approved for USSSA coach pitch play. This is a bat that 5-8 year old players might use if in coach pitch or machine pitch leagues where the velocity is less than 40 MPH. A BBCOR bat, like the Marucci CAT8 BBCOR Baseball Bat: MCBC8, would be something a player in middle school, high school and college would use.
Cameron
My son is 6 years old and 42 inches and 45 lbs. What size would you recommend? And which bat, CAT8 or CAT9, for coach pitch? Jason aldama
Per your son's height and weight, we would recommend getting the Marucci CAT8 -10 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: MJBBC8 at size 26 inches.
Cameron
My son is 48 inches and 50 lbs. What bat do you recommend? I see a lot of recommendations for a 27 inch, but that seems too long. John
Per your son's height and weight, we would recommend getting the Marucci CAT8 -10 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: MJBBC8 in a 27 inch. One can always move down a size if it is a better fit for their coach pitch level player.
Cameron

Here is a comparison of the two! There aren't going to be any major differences. https://www.justbats.com/compare/?pids=30300|33427

What’s the difference between the CAT8 and the CAT8 Junior Big Barrel USSSA? Dan
The Marucci CAT8 -10 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: MJBBC8 is designed for coach pitch leagues, ages 5-7, where the velo is less than 40 MPH. This bat will only be made up to 27 inches in length. The Marucci CAT8 -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: MSBC810 is a kid pitch model, starting at 27 inches, and is used up until 12U.
Cameron
Can this be used with machine pitch youth baseball? Richard
The Marucci CAT8 -10 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: MJBBC8 is designed for coach pitch leagues where the velocity of the pitches are below 40 MPH. Using this in machine pitch, with players over 7 years of age, could result in the bat denting rather quickly if the machine is tuned to a velocity near or above 40 MPH.
