Pros: Quick shipping, lots of pop out of the wrapper. Very Balanced!
Bat Pack COMBAT MAXUM and Easton XL3 -5 Senior League Baseball Bats: SL8MX105 and SL16X35
* Click on each bat in the bat pack to get individual features for that bat
Pros: Quick shipping, lots of pop out of the wrapper. Very Balanced!
Pros: Hot, no break in period Classic combat pop Very balanced and light swinging for -5
Cons: none, hottest "new" -5 on the market, unless you are lucky enough to stumble across a -5 Demarini Zen or old Easton XL1, this bat is the best available
Pros: very good balance weight, every 12 year old player needs to have a -5 bats, this is it......... already hit to over the fence, 98 pounds player. can't wait for my next weekend games.........
Cons: Non at this time
Pros: Good pop and good feel, but the handle snapped during normal BP. It will be warrantied, but I hope this isn’t a sign of flaws in the design. My son was very disappointed. And, now if something happens 8 months down the line we will be out of luck.
Cons: Handle snapped in two with 2 weeks of using the bat.
Pros: This bat has lots of pop and has a pretty hood feeling.
Pros: The best drop 5 out there in my opinion. Of course the CF is great as well but you cant find that anywhere. you cant beat the price on this either. Sad that this will be the last of the Combat line but if you look at the new Ghost...it looks more like a Combat bat than the prior Eastons. Good job Easton at swooping up this company!
Cons: Only that it is the last model...
Pros: I bought this for my 13yo. Right out of the box, this bat has GREAT pop! The balance is better than I expected. My son loves the larger hitting surface. Knowing he will only use this for a season, being a single wall is not an issue. I would definitely recommend this bat.
Cons: The only reason I did 3 stars for durability is because the bat has only been used in the cage so far and is still fairly new. I wouldn't feel comfortable leaving a better or worse review on that issue at this point.
Pros: Hot out of the wrapper. Equal to 2016 Maxxum! General Feel is Good Too early to tell about durability
Cons: We are missing the Lizard Skin wrap that used to come with Combat. Have to add later.
Pros: Great pop out of the wrapper. Had his first over the fence homer on the big field.
Cons: None so far.
Pros: Ok so our son made the local 12 u travel team, so we started looking for him a bat. A friend recommended justbats.com so after reading review after review we decided to go with the new 2016 Easton XL 3. What a GREAT choice we made. So a couple weeks go by and we are playing in our first tournament and our son gets up to the plate. Batting 9 in the batting order he hit a dinger over the center field fence in his first at bat !!!! Man was we so proud his first ever home run !!!
Cons: None so far
Pros: It is easy to switch to after swinging a -10 for such a long time.
Cons: A lot of vibration hard to break in not a lot of pop compared to the xl1 mako.
Pros: My son remarked about "the amazing pop" this bat has. It is early in the season and plan to update the review.
Pros: in my sons first at bat he went up and he hit a dingier a 350 foot fence and he is 11. He loves this bat
Cons: He says he doesn't like it
Pros: My son is 12 and he is 5 foot 7 and weighs 150 pounds He has had this bat since it came out It has lasted about 1 too 2 seasons and he still swings it Overall it has a lot of pop and all the kids on his team ask me if they can swing it I think easton did a great job with this one and I hope when the next one comes out it will be even better
Pros: instant pop versus BBCOR. kids love it
Cons: nothing so far
Pros: Love Love Love this bat!! Our sin loves the feel and pop! Hitting great wirh it!!! Cant imagine a better bat for the price!!!
Pros: i have the bat for about a month and already showing great signs tye bats got great pop and amsing grip if your looking for a good cheap drop 5- I recomend this bat
Pros: This bat comes out the wrapper hot! It is an end loaded bat, so it has some weight to it. It is a great transition bat going into a a drop 3. Love the sound of this bat! Sounds like he is hitting with a pole when he drives the ball!
Pros: I originally bought this bat after reading some reviews. My son is 13 and next year he'll have to use a drop -5 so I thought I'd buy something decent he could practice with and occassionally use. Anyway, his drop -10 died so he had to use this bat for the tournament this weekend! Wow, the first game he went 3/4 with great pop. The second game he hit his first home run, priceless!
Pros: good pop right out of the wrapper and great durability and great feel and sound
Pros: a great bat for the price nice sweet spot and has a nice pop to it
Pros: great overall feel & pop. love the sound too
Pros: Bat was purchased for my son who decided to get back into baseball after a 4 season hiatus. He also got the Mizuno Covert 5 Senior. Season just started so he is still getting used to both bats.
Cons: No to report at this time.
Pros: Great pop and sound.
Cons: None as of yet
Pros: My son plays 13U baseball. His first time up with this bat he hit a line drive triple over the left fielder's head. He hit the ball hard during his other at bats as well so it seems that this bat has good pop and he really likes it.
Cons: Unfortunately, during my son's second game using this bat, he hit the ball off the end of the bat and the end cap broke and half of it came off the bat rendering the bat useless.

Does this bat come in a 30"/25 oz size?
Originally, we did carry the 2018 COMBAT MAXUM -5 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL8MX105) in a 30"/25 oz size. Unfortunately, we are sold out of that size and because this is a closeout model, we will not receive more of the 30"/25 oz bats.
Does this come in 33"? And is a 33", -5 even allowed at youth level (13 year old)?
This bat is not made in a 33" size model as far as we are aware. We do have a few 33" models in a -5, and I don't believe 33" length bats are illegal in middle school age leagues. One example we have is the 2018 DeMarini Voodoo -5 (WTDXVB5).
I am 5’10" and 135 lbs and I am wondering what size bat I should swing?
Based on your height and weight, would recommend getting the 2018 COMBAT MAXUM -5 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL8MX105 in a 33 inch model.

This 2018 COMBAT MAXUM -5 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL8MX105) will feature a synthetic bat grip for enhanced comfort & reduced vibration. However, the brand of the grip will not be Lizard Skins.
Why such a good deal on a 2018 bat? That worries me. Will this be legal for use in AAA select baseball tournaments? Not Pony or Little League.
The 2018 COMBAT MAXUM -5 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL8MX105 is marked down as these bats are on closeout as well as the fact that we purchased the entire inventory of this model. As a result of the lower price point we were able to secure the bat at we can pass along this savings to our customers. This bat does feature the USSSA and 1.15 BPF thumbprint stamp and would be a great option for a 13U or 14U travel ball player who participates in USSSA tournaments/games; this bat would be illegal for Pony and Little League.
I need to know if this bat will be legal for use at Pony Baseball or Little league use?
Unfortunately, the 2018 COMBAT MAXUM -5 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL8MX105 is not approved for play in Pony or Little League baseball. Starting in 2018 you will need to have a bat that is either USA or BBCOR certified depending on what division your player is in.
How are you able to stock Combat bats? When did these Combat sl8mx105 bats get produced? Combat declared bankruptcy in 2016 if I recall correctly. Who will service any warranty issues?
Easton bought Combat, and Combat made this years model. Easton will take over the Combat warranty. We don't know the exact date of when they were produced. But they were produced a little bit before they were released.
Is this the new "wood like feel" bat with the USA bat stamp that bats will need starting in January 2018?
The 2018 COMBAT MAXUM -5 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL8MX105 does not feature the USA stamp and thus will not perform similar to a wood bat. This bat has the USSSA stamp and will perform much better than a USA stamped model as the barrel walls on this bat will be thinner, thus allowing for more trampoline effect and higher exit velocities off the bat.
Is this bat BBCOR?
The 2018 COMBAT MAXUM -5 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL8MX105 is not a BBCOR bat. All BBCOR bats will feature a -3 length to weight ratio.

The batting grip used on this 2018 COMBAT MAXUM -5 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL8MX105) will feel and look similar to a Lizard Skin grip, but it will actually just be a grip that is designed and built by COMBAT.
Is this bat different from the 2017 Combat Maxum?
The 2018 COMBAT MAXUM -5 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL8MX105 and the 2017 model are the same. The only difference is the cosmetics and grip tape. The 2018 model no longer features Lizard Skin grip tape.
Who makes this bat? With Combat going out of business at the end of 2016, is this made by folks in Canada or somewhere else? Also, what is primary difference between 2018 and 2017 model.
Easton owns ComBat and makes the 2018 ComBat Maxum line. Not much has changed between the 2017 and the 2017 Maxum Line, the main difference is going to be the cosmetics.
It says hot out of wrapper. Does that mean it doesn't need to be broken in with 150-200 hits off a tee? How does it compare to the old portent combat bats of old as far as pop?
The 2018 COMBAT MAXUM -5 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL8MX105 will not require any break in time and will be one of the hottest bats on the market.

Is this bat USA baseball certified? I want to use it for Babe Ruth.
The Easton XL3 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL16X35 is not USA approved. The equivalent USA model is the 2018 Easton Beast X -5 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18BX5.
Is this a bbcor bat?
This Easton XL3 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL16X35 is a USSSA certified -5 baseball bat. It is NOT a BBCOR bat. If you are looking for a BBCOR certified bat you will want to look at a -3 drop weight. You may want to look at something like the Easton Z-CORE HMX BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB16ZA for a one-piece alloy BBCOR bat.
Does this bat have the USA stamp on it?
This Easton XL3 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL16X35) will not feature the USA bat stamp on it. If you wanted a one-piece, all-aluminum bat from Easton with the USA certification and -5 sizing; I would recommend the 2018 Easton Beast X -5 USA Baseball Bat (YBB18BX5).
My son is 14 years old, 5' 3" and 85 pounds. I was wondering what length of bat I should get? He needs a drop 5 this year. Should I get this bat or are there any other suggestions?
I would recommend the Easton XL3 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL16X35 in a 30 inch length. The XL3 will feature a one-piece alloy design with an end loaded swing weight. A similar option you could also consider is the 2018 Easton Beast X -5 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL18BX5 which will feature a similar feel with updated technology.
Just purchased this bat for my 13 yr old son. Can it be used in Little League & travel ball in 2018 with the new rules? Any special stickers needed?
The Easton XL3 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL16X35 could be used in 2018 for travel ball leagues but would not be allowed in Little League. In 2018 Little League will require the use of a bat featuring the USA Baseball stamp.
Does this bat have the rotating handle? Or is that a different bat series. I personally don't like the twisting barrel. And do end loaded bats have more pop than balanced bats? I'm a stronger kid for my age and size and am strongly considering the weight distribution.
This bat does not having the rotating handle technology. That was implemented in the Torq line of Easton bats. End loaded bats can provide more power due to the added weight in the barrel providing more mass at contact, at the cost of a heavier swing weight. They are suited to power hitters who can handle the added swing weight.
What is difference in 2016 Easton XL3 and 2016 Mako XL if both are -5 and same length?
Both the 2016 Easton XL3 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL16X35 and the 2016 Easton MAKO XL Senior League Baseball Bat: SL16MK5 are end-loaded models. The big difference between the two is the 2016 Easton MAKO XL Senior League Baseball Bat: SL16MK5 will be an all composite model with a connection point, allowing this bat to reduce vibration more so on off-centered hits, while the 2016 Easton XL3 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL16X35 is a one-piece all alloy bat.

If you feel like this end loaded bat would be a good option for you, I would suggest the 31" 26 oz. size.

Those number represent the length to weight ratio which is a way of measuring the bats. You take the length of the bat and subtract that number and that gives you the weight of the bat. The 2016 Easton XL3 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL16X35 is a -5 so if it is a 30" bat, then it would be a 25 oz.
Is this bat all aluminum? Middle school is going to that type, if not what would you suggest in similar price range?
The 2016 Easton XL3 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL16X35 is a one piece fully aluminum bat.
My son is 12 and 1/2 yrs old. 5'5". 109 lbs. I see that this is an end loaded bat. What size do you suggest?

Is this bat legal for play in Babe Ruth?
The 2016 Easton XL3 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL16X35 is not BBCOR certified, so if your Babe Ruth league requires BBCOR certfication, this would not be legal.
My son is 12 and wants a big barrel bat. Can my son play with one of the Senior League Baseball bats in his Youth League?
As long as your player's league allows use of bats with a 2 5/8" barrel and the USSSA 1.15 stamp, then a bat like this 2016 Easton XL3 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL16X35) [Senior League and Youth Big Barrel are essentially interchangeable terms]. That being said, I would first recommend checking and making sure that he will enjoy using the -5 length-to-weight ratio that is featured on this Easton XL3 before making the purchase.
What is the primary difference between this model and the same bat that is a Mako?
This 2016 Easton XL3 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL16X35) differs from the MAKO because it is a one-piece bat with an all-alloy build. The MAKO is a two-piece bat with an all composite build. However, the 2016 MAKO XL (SL16MK5) and this bat will both feature a similar end-loaded feel.

No, the 2016 Easton XL3 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL16X35 is a -5. If you need a -3, you will need to look at the BBCOR bats.
My kid is a 7th grader that is 5'7" and weighs 110 lbs. Do you recommend this bat in -5 for him (he has a 32"/24 oz right now)?
Based upon your player's height and weight, I would make a general recommendation of getting this 2016 Easton XL3 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL16X35) in the same 32" length (as his current bat), as long as he can handle the subsequent 27 oz weight (and the end-loaded swing weight). As a 7th grader, I think that moving to a -5 bat is smart so that you can prepare to use the BBCOR (-3) bats that are required in high school.
Is this bat legal for Little League 50/70 play?
The 2016 Easton XL3 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL16X35 meets all of the bat requirements for the Little League Intermediate (50/70) division, and therefore is legal for play.

I would recommend checking out the 2016 Easton XL3 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL16X35) if you were looking to get an end loaded aluminum bat. If you would rather have a balanced composite option I would go ahead and check out the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST Senior League Baseball Bat (SL17MK10).

This bat would have to be sent back to Easton for replacement as retailers will not carry any of the parts that comprise the bat(s).
My son is 13 years old, 5' feet tall and 115 pounds (13-15 year old division of Babe Ruth). What size of this bat would you recommend (he previously swung a 31"/19 oz bat)?
Based upon your player's height and weight, I would make a general recommendation of getting a 30" model of a Youth Big Barrel/Senior League baseball bat. It may be a bit of an adjustment, but if you feel that your player can handle the end-loaded 25 oz weight of the 30" option of this 2016 Easton XL3 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL16X35), then I would recommend getting this bat in the size option.

Is this bat legal for Junior Babe Ruth?
Unfortunately, I was not able to determine the exact division of Babe Ruth baseball to which you were referring. If you were referring the 13-15 year old division, then yes, this 2016 Easton XL3 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL16X35) will be legal for use.
My son is 11 yo and pretty strong for his age. He's 4'9 and weighs 90 lbs. He used a 28 in Louisville Slugger Assault last year and loved it. We know he needs to move up in size, however would like to know your recommendations. Looking for a comparable alternative to the assault?
Based upon your player's height and weight, we would recommend going with a 30" model of Youth Big Barrel/Senior league bat. This 2016 Easton XL3 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL16X35) will be a single-piece, all-alloy bat like the Assault; but be end-loaded in its swing weight (the Assault was balanced). As well, this specific XL3 model has a -5 length-to-weight ratio. For an 11 year old player I would be more likely recommend a bat that has a -8 length-to-weight ratio like the SL16X38 model.
