Description

Exclusive to JustBats! The PA110 Adult wood baseball bat exemplifies excellence and durability. Rawlings wood bats have defined the careers of numerous baseball greats over the years and continue to represent Rawlings' core value - quality and innovation. This modernized design offers breakthrough technologies and progressive materials that unite to drive performance while increasing one's batting average. It all starts with the VELO barrel design which maximizes swing speed and control for the ultimate experience during every at bat. VELO baseball bats are built for players looking for a fast balanced stick. The maple construction offers an extremely dense wood for a much harder hitting surface and stiffer flex in comparison to other woods. This allows energy to transfer efficiently to the baseball for further ball fight in each hit. With a 110 turning model and a balanced swing weight, the PA110 is typically preferred by a contact hitter who is hitting in the gaps to ensure base hits. Rawlings wood baseball bats remain the authentic, established choice for those seeking to significantly enhance their offense. Rawlings: The Finest in the Field!

This Rawlings VELO Maple Wood Baseball Bat: PA110 Adult features a 2 1/2 inch barrel diameter, a one inch handle, and an approximate -3 length to weight ratio. This is the perfect choice to help ease the transition from a BBCOR model. Pick up yours today with fast, free shipping from JustBats.com. We're here from Click to Hit!

Overall - Very Nice Bat Jason P. coach

Pros: The Overall Quality is Great. It actually LOOKS like a Wood Bat. Most Wood Bats have so much paint and color sprayed on them they look like Aluminum bats. Not this One !

Cons: Like Most Maple Bats they all tend to feel a bit too heavy. Even this 110 Turn has some Heft Behind it. You really have to be a Stronger Player to use a Maple Bat. This bat is great for the Stronger Players, for Strength & Tee Work, and also Great for Loosening up the boys Muscles before a Practice/Game. The only Real Cons on this Bat was the Sprayed Lacquer had 4 small drips on the bat. Two drips around the handle and two drips on the barrel. I just took out my pocket knife and carefully smoothed out those areas. The other Con like I've said before is the Overall Weight /Feel , but adding a tacky grip ( We used all white Lizard Skin ) and the new grip really helps you to control the bat. A Tacky Grip is a Must ! I just feel that Kids in Little League and High School would benefit more from using a Birch, Ash, and even an all Bamboo Bat.

Can’t get on the field Mark Coach

Pros: Looks great, feels great, sounds great. My son put about 200 swings on it so far but can’t get on the field for a good bp session due to Covid. During soft toss, tee work, and minimal live bp sounds great. My son loves it.

Cons: Only gave 3 stars because we can’t get out there and really check it out.

Split somewhere between 10-15th swing Ian Player

Pros: There's little I can say positive about it given how short-lived the bat functioned. I really enjoyed swinging this bat, if that means anything. And the first few hits felt nice. Don't expect it (especially after 30 days), but I'm working with JustBats on rectifying this problem by purchasing the same bat at a large discount, which is better than no help at all, so I'll put that as a "pro"... but don't expect that. I'm curious to see how well the replacement performs and if I can update this review, I will.

Cons: I get that wood bats break; I've broken them before. But this bat broke half-way through my first round of hits in a batting cage just a few days after this bat arrived at my house. The bat did not experience any extreme heat, cold, high humidity or dry air... at least after it came to my door. And I treat my bats with respect.

How much does this bat weigh in 33" and 34"? Derek
The Rawlings VELO Maple Wood Baseball Bat: PA110 Adult has a length-to-weight ratio (AKA "drop") of approximately -2 to -3. So a 33" will weigh about 30-31 oz. A 34" will weigh 31-32 oz.
Marcus

The Rawlings VELO Maple Wood Baseball Bat: PA110 Adult has a 1" handle diameter.
Angelique
Is this bat ink dot certified? j

Angelique
Would this bat be good to use for legion baseball? swrhoads34
The Rawlings VELO Maple Wood Baseball Bat (PA110) Adult would be a great option for Legion baseball.
Carter
I'm playing 13u baseball. Would this bat be a good choice over a drop 5 bat? matt
The Rawlings VELO Maple Wood Baseball Bat: PA110 Adult is a great bat to consider but will certainly be heavier as it is a drop 2-3. A player who is currently playing 13U would benefit more from a drop 5 and if going to an adult wood bat it would be wise to consider going shorter in length to allow for an easier weight to control or choke up on the bat.
Cameron
What is the barrel diameter? David
The Rawlings VELO Maple Wood Baseball Bat: PA110 Adult has a 110 turn model and a 2 1/2" barrel diameter.
Jason
What does VELO mean? peanut butter
I am making an educated guess, but I believe that the VELO name on this Rawlings VELO Maple Wood Baseball Bat (PA110 Adult) refers to "velocity". Typically, VELO bats come with very balanced swing weights and because of the balanced swing weights, the hitter using the bats can achieve very high swing velocities.
Ben
Best choice for power hitters in wood bats? peanut butter
If your player is a power hitter and performs best using balanced swinging bats, then this Rawlings VELO Maple Wood Baseball Bat (PA110 Adult) would be an excellent option for use. However, if he prefers a bat with an end-loaded swing weight, I would recommend getting a bat with a 243 or 13 turn to it (those turns are very popular for power hitters).
Ben
What is the difference between this and a BBCOR bat? Jay
The big differences between the Rawlings VELO Maple Wood Baseball Bat: PA110 Adult and say the Rawlings VELO BBCOR bat would be that the BBCOR bat is made from one-piece alloy making the bat much more durable than the one-piece maple wood bat design. The barrel of the Rawlings VELO Maple Wood Baseball Bat: PA110 Adult is slightly smaller at 2 1/2" compared to 2 5/8" for a BBCOR bat. Also, the handle diameter will be thicker with the Rawlings VELO Maple Wood Baseball Bat: PA110 Adult and will not feel as balanced as the VELO BBCOR bat.
Cameron
Can this bat be legally used in high school baseball? Abram Benson
Most high school leagues have no problems with you using wood bats such as the Rawlings VELO Maple Wood Baseball Bat (PA110). I would just check with your specific high school league through just to be sure, because it an vary.
Carter
How long would this bat last if used often and used properly? manny
It's hard to predict the life span of a wood bat, as all it takes is one bad hit off the end or the handle to cause it to break. Wood bats can last just as long as aluminum/composite assuming there are no mishits, along with a little good fortune and care.
Kyle J.
What size is the barrel on this bat? junior450r
This Rawlings VELO Maple Wood Baseball Bat (PA110 Adult) comes with a 110 turn model to it. The barrel diameter will be 2 1/2" and the taper from the barrel to the handle will be very long and gradual. The bat will offer a solid sweet spot size, but the barrel length will not be extra defined (due to the long taper).
Ben
How heavy is it? ejejej
The Rawlings VELO Maple Wood Baseball Bat: PA110 Adult features and approximate -2 to -3 length to weight ratio. The 32" will be about 29 oz or 30 oz. The 33" will be about 30 oz to 31 oz and the 34" will be about 31 oz to 32 oz.
Jason
Is this bat legal for perfect game tournaments? Anthony Capri
The Rawlings VELO Maple Wood Baseball Bat: PA110 Adult is a solid maple wood bat and it would be approved for play.
Jason

The Rawlings VELO Maple Wood Baseball Bat: PA110 Adult does not come with any type of warranty.
Logan
Is it pro ink dotted? jeff
This Rawlings VELO Maple Wood Baseball Bat (PA110 Adult) does NOT come with a pro ink dot certification.
JP
Does this bat come in a 33 inch version? I only see 34 inch as the option on the website. Matt
The only size we still have left in the Rawlings VELO Maple Wood Baseball Bat: PA110 Adult is 34 inches. All other sizes have sold out and we can no longer restock the other sizes from Rawlings since this bat is on closeout.

Kyle J.
How many oz is it? slugger

Can this be a bat for homeruns or is it just a bat for contact hitting? Jake
This bat is a 110 turn model so will feature a well balanced feel for a wooden bat. Generally doubles/contact hitters prefer balanced models over end loaded ones.
Kyle
Has this bat already been boned? If not, would boning this bat damage the finish on the barrel? Jake
The Rawlings VELO Maple Wood Baseball Bat: PA110 Adult is not bone rubbed by the manufacturer. If one wanted to do this it would certainly not damage the bat but tough to say how it may impact the finish of the bat as far as scuffs/scratches.

Kyle
Is it a good durable bat to use just for practice in the cage? If not, what would be the best choice? Bryson
Like any other natural wood bat, the Rawlings VELO Maple Wood Baseball Bat: PA110 Adult will last as long as the hitter can properly square up the baseball on the barrel. If one were to catch the ball near the end of the barrel then one will crack/splinter slightly the handle of a maple bat. A birch bat will offer the most forgiveness on miss hits.

About the Brand

Rawlings is a major manufacturer of competitive team sports equipment and apparel for baseball, basketball, and football, as well as licensed MLB, NFL, and NCAA retail products. Rawlings is a major supplier to professional, collegiate, interscholastic, and amateur organizations worldwide, including the Official Baseball Supplier to Major League Baseball.

The first real innovation in glove making occurred in 1912 when Rawlings Sporting Goods Company introduced the "Sure Catch" glove, which was "endorsed by leading players all over the country." The Sure Catch was a one-piece glove with sewn-in finger channels and looked better suited for a duck's foot than a man's hand. Catchers' mitts used at the time were large and bulky with a single leather thong passing for a web.

In 1920, Bill Doak, a journeyman pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, approached Rawlings with an idea for improving the baseball glove from a mere protective device to a genuine aid in fielding. The "Bill Doak" model was so revolutionary that it stayed in Rawlings' line until 1953. Its key feature was a multi-thong web laced into the first finger and thumb, which created for the first time in baseball's young life, a natural pocket.

In 1925, Rawlings unveiled a three-fingered fielder's glove, and ten years later improved the Bill Doak model with a two-piece leather web. At the same time, the "T" web became a rage for first basemen's mitts. The pocket underwent a pronounced change in 1941 when the Trapper Mitt, also known as the Claw, appeared. The "Deep Well" pocket was so unique that Rawlings quickly patented it. The design was improved in 1950 by adding a leather piece across the top. Another significant creation occurred in 1948 with the three-fingered Playmaker. A five-fingered fielder's model, with all fingers laced together, provided greater pocket control.

The six-fingered Trap-Eze evolved in the 1960's. In more recent years, Rawlings produced the Fastback design, which gives a glove a snugger fit, greater extension, and overall control. The Holdster is a slot through which a finger can be extended for additional protection from impacts on the pocket. Then, there is the Edge-U-Cated Heel with its extended U-shaped lacing and the Pro H Web and much-copied Basket Web.

Some of Rawlings's more recent glove innovations also include the unique Spin-Stopper design which reduces ball spin when the ball hits the glove, and the Cantilever glove design feature that provides a cushioned area between the hand and the glove's palm area. In all, Rawlings has produced and patented more functionally innovative glove features and designs than that of any other glove manufacturer. The result is that the modern baseball glove is much larger, more comfortable, better padded, and made to last far longer than its ancestors. It is not uncommon to see today's Major League players wearing the same Rawlings glove they wore during their college playing days. In fact, Rawlings is the #1 glove in the major leagues. Rawlings maintains about 65 models of baseball and softball mitts and gloves in its line. The prototypes of virtually all of them have been field-tested by professionals before entering a sporting goods dealer's inventory.
