Great bAt Michael Allen Parent

Pros: Very very balanced we have had the cat 7 true 2019 zen and now this and the cat 8 I will say it is more blanced Ethan either of the above mentioned bats swings the lightest of all of them and feels the lightest. Son was hitting solid line drives off tee possibly as much if not more pop than the zen and the verdict is still out vs the cat 8.. the cat 8 has a little more heft in the barrel thus creating maybe a tad more pop the brrel size is very similar thinking the cat 8 maybe a bit larger. Needless to say I think the both outperform the 2019 zen and will no doubt outlast the zen this bat is hot and the best balanced I have ever felt feels lighter than a drop 10 so may want to go up an inch or the drop 8

Cons: None so far

Balanced and Powerful TL Coach

Pros: Very well balanced. Very nice grip. Nice looking bat but don’t sleep in the amount of pop this bat has. Give it 50-75 good swings and look out.

Cons: After 7 weeks and about 800 + swings there are no cons. This is the bat for $199.99

First tournament dents Chad Coach

Pros: Bat is solid in hand no vibration.

Cons: Friday, Saturday, Sunday Tournament, Six games on the bat and about another 30 mins of soft toss BP with regular baseballs. Bat has no less than 10 dents, and one surface is almost flat. All games played on turf field, so this is all caused by hitting .Very thin walled and light bat, but it should still survive hitting baseballs and it did NOT. Sending bat back to L/S, very dissapointed.

Great Buy!! Rich Parent

Pros: First off, I am a big believer that its not the arrow, its the indian. That being said, If you have a good contact hitter like my son, you will love this bat. This bat has the kind of pop that turns singles into doubles and doubles into triples. My son is not a home run hitter but line drives are very common with the help of this bat. This is our second Solo. 618 and 619. Both have a ton of pop. Great value for what you get. I would recommend this bat all day.

Cons: My son was not a fan of the grip. Replaced the grip and all is good.

Too early to tell Ryan Coach

Pros: Very well balanced... I would say it is comparable to the CAT 8. Doesn’t have as good of a sound as the CAT8 but very similar pop. Can’t really comment on durability due to only owning it 2 weeks. But after two practices and a few soft toss sessions in the shed my son is very happy with it. He hasn’t complained about any vibration. He also says the grip is awesome.

Cons: Nothing comes to mind

Louisville Slugger Solo 28” -10 John Other

Pros: Wow, this bat has same pop as the Cat 7 and Voodoo. My grandson loves it. He has hit around 500 balls and so far no dents, no paint chips. Seems very durable. Also, it is extremely balanced, seems lighter than it actually is. I know all the rage is DeMarini and Marucci but this slugger is just as good and $30.00 to $40.00 cheaper. I bought it on sale for under $150.00. What a steal.

A bit disappointing DUB Parent

Pros: The weight and balance is great, my 10yr old handles the bat well. He's only had cage work so I can't get a feel for pop.

Cons: Probably made a mistake on buying a drop 10, doesn't seem to have enough metal to keep vibration down on off center hits. If I had the chance to do it again I would have bought a drop 8.

Besides paint job, what is the difference between 2018 & 2019 Solo?
Coach
This 2019 Louisville Slugger Solo 619 -10 USSSA Baseball Bat (WTLSLS619X10) and the 2018 Slugger 618 are pretty similar bats. The biggest difference besides the paint job will be a new grip on this 2019 edition and a new end-cap on this 2019 bat as well.
Ben
Is the sweet spot on the barrel of the 2019 Solo the same size as the Omaha? I keep hearing about the barrel size and sweet spot of the Omaha, but would like to know if the Solo has the same or better sweet spot, barrel size, and pop.
Cliff
The sweet spot on the 2019 Louisville Slugger Solo 619 -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: WTLSLS619X10 is very similar in size to the 2019 Louisville Slugger Omaha 519 -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: WTLSLO519X10. The Solo just offers a composite end cap to lighten the swing, and uses a little stiffer alloy than that of the Omaha 519.
Logan
Why is the 2019 model $30 less then the 2018?
Todd
Looks like you have ran into one of the products that is on special for Cyber Monday. The 2019 Louisville Slugger Solo 619 -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: WTLSLS619X10 would be a great option for a balanced one piece alloy model.
Max
Is this bat better than the alloy prime bat?
Jorge
Because of the USSSA certification the 2019 Louisville Slugger Solo 619 -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: WTLSLS619X10 will have similar performance to all USSSA models alloy or composite. I would look at finding a bat that fits the individual player, which will increase the performance.
Max
Both the Solo 619 and Cat 8 review very well. Other than the slight difference in price is there anything that distinguishes one bat over the other?
Adam
The one main difference between the Cat 8 and the 2019 Louisville Slugger Solo 619 -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: WTLSLS619X10 will be the swing weight. The Solo 619 is one of, if not the lightest swinging bats in the 2019 lineup. This will allow better control through the swing path and be more approachable for a younger player.
Tyler
Can anyone tell me what changed between 2018 and 2019 models?
Tristan Roberts
The 2019 Louisville Slugger Solo 619 -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: WTLSLS619X10 has a new grip tape and end cap compared to the 2018 version of this same bat.
Cameron
I bought the 2018 Solo for my 9 year old. Very happy with the bat; it has been awesome! There’s a couple kids on the team that are going to be using an Easton composite bat, my son has his eyeball on the 2019 Prime -10. What would be the difference between that bat with the composite handle etc. versus the 2019 Solo?
Shane
The Louisville Slugger Solo 619 -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: WTLSLS619X10 is a one-piece all alloy model. This bat will not flex on contact and thus will sting a player's hands a lot more from an off-centered hit when compared to the Louisville Slugger Prime 919 -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: WTLSLP919X10. The Prime features an all composite design with a two-piece construction. This bat will offer better vibration control from the same off-centered hits as a two-piece bat will naturally flex on contact. As well, this bat will be slightly more balanced compared to the Solo 619. When looking at performance of the two bats, one would be hard pressed to say that one bat will be significantly better than the other.
Cameron
What is the diameter of the barrel?
Jacob
The Louisville Slugger Solo 619 -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: WTLSLS619X10 features a 2 3/4" barrel.
Daveron
What is the total weight of the bat?
Chris
Most bats will weigh roughly 1-1.5 oz heavier than the listed amount since things such as the paint, endcap glue and grip tape adhesive are not factored into the factory weight.
Kyle
Could you use this bat for high school ball?
Jared
The Louisville Slugger Solo 619 -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: WTLSLS619X10 is not legal for high school play. All bats regulated for high school will require the BBCOR stamp and automatically be a -3 size. The Louisville Slugger Solo 619 BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBS619B3 would be the model certified for high school use.

About the Brand

In 1842, J. Frederick Hillerich emigrated with his family from Baden-Baden, Germany to the United States. Eight years before, the 1834 Book of Sports had made its debut as the nation's first publication covering baseball. But when he arrived in Baltimore, J. Frederick Hillerich would never have dreamed of the future impact his family would have on America's favorite pastime.

After a short while, the Hillerichs moved to Louisville, where J. Fred started a woodworking shop in 1856. Two of his sons, Adam and John Andrew "Bud" were born in the United States and would later join their father in his business. By 1864 "J.F. Hillerich, Job Turning" was in operation and filled orders for businesses by custom-turning everything from balusters to bedposts.

The firm thrived, and by 1875 the little woodworking shop employed about 20 people. In 1880 Bud Hillerich, who was an amateur baseball player, became an apprentice in his father's shop. Young Bud made his own baseball bats along with bats for several of his teammates.

The debate over the origins of the first bat continues to generate controversy among baseball enthusiasts, but the younger Hillerich was most certainly involved in getting his father's business involved with what would become the company's signature item. According to company legend, the first bat was turned by Bud for Pete "The Old Gladiator" Browning in 1884. Browning was a star on Louisville's professional American Association team - the Eclipse. On a spring afternoon Bud, then seventeen, witnessed Browning break his favorite bat. Bud offered to make a bat for his hero, and Browning accepted. After the young wood shop apprentice lathed a quality stick from white ash, according to the story, Browning got three hits with it in the next game.

Louisville Slugger gloves are worn by more pitchers in Major League Baseball than any other glove.

Description

New for the 2019 season! Rawlings baseball bats have been pushing the limits of perfection for many years and it doesn't look like they are going to stop anytime soon. This model is intended for your top of the lineup hitter. The 2019 VELO -10 USSSA bat is a lightweight bat that will maximize the velocity of each swing and improve the ability to get the barrel through the strike zone. A faster bat offers mastery for those inside pitches and improves overall swing mechanics, so you are capable of hitting the ball hard and far into the outfield. The acoustic alloy composition makes this one of the loudest bats on the field, so you'll achieve a loud ping sound as soon as the ball makes contact. Rawlings: Finest In The Field.

This Rawlings VELO USSSA Baseball Bat (UT8V34) features a drop 10 length to weight ratio, a huge 2 3/4-inch barrel diameter, and the USSSA 1.15 BPF thumbprint located on the taper. The Comp-Lite endcap creates balance, generating faster swing speeds. A straight-wall big barrel provides a larger sweet spot and lowers the resistance experienced during the actual swing, so you are capable of very impressive swing speeds. New for the Rawlings Velo is the redesigned bat grip that appeals to all hand sizes and it helps limit vibration and increases bat control. Purchase this bat and enjoy free shipping and a full 12-month manufacturer's warranty. Don't forget, with our 24/7 customer service, we'll be here for you from click to hit!

So far impressed Josh Mills Coach

Pros: I received this bat as part of a demo program from Rawlings and my 10 and 11 year olds both tried them out last night for the first time. The sound of the bat was pretty solid, one of my coaching buddies even said it sounded like an old school Air Attack. It had some solid pop from all of the kids who tried it out, so I had to hop in and try it out myself. It felt incredible - large sweet spot, nobody complained of any vibration. My son loves the grip on it too, and he's a Lizard Skin junkie haha. I can't truly comment on durability at this point, but I'll bet it's a solid bat for a long time - everyone else in our area is still swinging VELOs from a few years back and zero problem. (which is why I gave it a high-star rating)

Cons: None that the kids noted.

Nice Balanced Bat Dan B Coach

Pros: We demoed this bat with our 13YO team. It had a really balanced feel and much more pop than we expected. The loud sound turns heads in the cage.

Cons: A lot of guys are used to using two piece bats, so the vibration is different for the when the don’t barrel up.

Have a question about the 2019 Rawlings VELO -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: UT9V10? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

How is this model compared to the 2018?
James
The 2019 Rawlings VELO -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: UT9V10 will be very similar to the 2018 model, but the 2019 Rawlings Velo will have the new redesigned grip to increase bat control.
Max
What is the difference in sweet spot size, pop and overall feel as compared to the 2019 Marucci Cat 8?
Walker
Both bats should have similar pop and overall feel as they are both balanced, one-piece alloy models. The Rawlings VELO will have a louder ping to it on contact which some players like, and some don't, so that is something to consider. In terms of sweet spot size, I would probably give a slight edge to the Marucci Cat 8, but it's not very significant. It appears to be possibly .5" or so looking at the sample models we have here.
Kyle J.
How does the Velo compare to the Rawlings 5150 in terms of pop and swing weight?
ARG
This 2019 Rawlings VELO -10 USSSA Baseball Bat (UT9V10) and the 2019 Rawlings 5150 -10 USSSA Baseball Bat (UT9510) both have just one review at this time and both bats were rated well. At this time, it would be hard to say that one is better in regard to "pop". However, I would say that the VELO probably has been a little more popular in recent years. In regard to swing feel, the VELO will have the advantage in regard to being "light-feeling". It has a composite end-cap that makes the bat feel lighter when swung.
Ben

About the Brand

Rawlings is a major manufacturer of competitive team sports equipment and apparel for baseball, basketball, and football, as well as licensed MLB, NFL, and NCAA retail products. Rawlings is a major supplier to professional, collegiate, interscholastic and amateur organizations worldwide, including the Official Baseball Supplier to Major League Baseball.

The first real innovation in glove making occurred in 1912 when Rawlings Sporting Goods Company introduced the "Sure Catch" glove, which was "endorsed by leading players all over the country." The Sure Catch was a one-piece glove with sewn-in finger channels and looked better suited for a duck's foot than a man's hand. Catchers' mitts used at the time were large and bulky with a single leather thong passing for a web.

In 1920, Bill Doak, a journeyman pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, approached Rawlings with an idea for improving the baseball glove from a mere protective device to a genuine aid in fielding. The "Bill Doak" model was so revolutionary that it stayed in Rawlings' line until 1953. Its key feature was a multi-thong web laced into the first finger and thumb, which created for the first time in baseball's young life, a natural pocket.

In 1925, Rawlings unveiled a three-fingered fielder's glove, and ten years later improved the Bill Doak model with a two-piece leather web. At the same time, the "T" web became a rage for first basemen's mitts. The pocket underwent a pronounced change in 1941 when the Trapper Mitt, also known as the Claw, appeared. The "Deep Well" pocket was so unique that Rawlings quickly patented it. The design was improved in 1950 by adding a leather piece across the top. Another significant creation occurred in 1948 with the three-fingered Playmaker. A five-fingered fielder's model, with all fingers laced together, provided greater pocket control.

The six-fingered Trap-Eze evolved in the 1960's. In more recent years, Rawlings produced the Fastback design, which gives a glove a snugger fit, greater extension, and overall control. The Holdster is a slot through which a finger can be extended for additional protection from impacts on the pocket. Then, there is the Edge-U-Cated Heel with its extended U-shaped lacing and the Pro H Web and much-copied Basket Web.

Some of Rawlings more recent glove innovations also include the unique Spin-Stopper design which reduces ball spin when the ball hits the glove, and the Cantilever glove design feature that provides a cushioned area between the hand and the glove's palm area. In all, Rawlings has produced and patented more functionally innovative glove features and designs than that of any other glove manufacturer. The result is that the modern baseball glove is much larger, more comfortable, better padded and made to last far longer than its ancestors. It is not uncommon to see today's Major League players wearing the same Rawlings' glove they wore during their college playing days. In fact, Rawlings is the #1 glove in the major leagues. Rawlings maintains about 65 models of baseball and softball mitts and gloves in its line. The prototypes of virtually all of them have been field tested by professionals before entering a sporting goods dealer's inventory.
