2.5 oz over john baseball player

Pros: better than last year. 27/16 weighs 18.3 oz. however the 27/15 demarini weighs the same. 3oz over! so much foright weight balanced swing weight. but with that being said. the Sabatoge -11 and -12 are still better than last year.

Cons: still not a balanced feel

Great bat !!! Greg k Parent

Pros: We purchased a 29/-11 sabotage one to replace a bat damaged mid fall season. My 9yr old loves it .... we immediately noticed greater control and he loves the pop... the ball really jumps off the bat and carries well into the outfield. Without question his confidence has translated into an aggressive swing with less misses. This was a great buy...in fact I'm ready to get the 30/-11 in preparation for his growth.

Cons: During batting practice on 50 an inside pitch has stung him a few times as expected. The upside is the ball jumps and he hangs in there.

Good Value Eric Beauregard Coach

Pros: Good bat for young player. Has good pop. All the kids on our team wanted to use it. Seems pretty durable. Between improved approach and switching to this bat we saw great in improvement in several players. Most kids are 7 years old on our team. I

Cons: One piece aluminum construction causes a fair amount of vibration. This should be somewhat expected, but seems more than most of our bats. If you are playing travel ball I would suggest the two piece composite option or the CF Zen if you don’t mind shelling out the extra cash.

Cracked then dented Henry J Player

Pros: Some pros are this bat is a very light swinging bat and you can feel the barrel very well through the zone. Good if you only want to take daddy hacks to hit it out but it has no pop

Cons: Horrible durability. This bat lasted me only 24 days and I only hit 5 BP practices with it! It had a vertical seam of crack in the bat and I thought “oh it’s not horizontal so I will be ok” Well next pitch made a EAR SPLITTING PING and I hit the fence but.... the bat dented Another con is the sweet spot is litterally the size of a pea. Also it performs horribly on miss hits usually ringing you SUPER BAD (really bad for a 1 piece alloy) and couldn’t get the ball out of the infield. Another negative is the little pop. It has little pop and I hit one homer no thanks to the bat because the pitcher was throwing 64 max and I got a low pitch and swung really hard to barely poke it out. Also I would just like to mention this is easily the worst bat on the demarini lineup of USA bats. We already contacted demarini for the refund and will probably be buying a loisville slugger select 2 piece stiff flex.

The DeMarini Sabotage ONE -11 USA Baseball Bat: WTDXUMO is only made in a one-piece design. DeMarini will make this bat in a -12 length to weight ratio and this model would feature the two-piece design.
Cameron
Is this bat a true -11?
Super Speed
Almost any bat will be slightly heavier than the listed weight, usually about .5-1.5 oz heavier. This is due to manufacturer's weighing the bat before things such as glue for the end cap, grip tape adhesive, paint, etc are included. This bat most likely falls into that range as well, as USA certified bats almost always are a bit heavier than listed.

About the Brand

In 1992, DeMarini Sports had something to celebrate. The three-year-old company had climbed a rung on the proverbial ladder of success, moving its world headquarters from a dirt-floored barn to a slightly larger metal shack. "It was a big move for us," recalled Ray DeMarini from the batting cage of DeMarini Sport’s present-day Bat Industrial Complex. "The new shop was larger, more storm resistant, and -best of all- it had a heater."

In the early days, DeMarini Sports hardly made a blip on the radar screen of softball. With no retailers and virtually no advertising budget, DeMarini grew steadily by selling high-performance bats directly to customers. While established companies made "juiced" bats for the pros and ordinary bats for the public, DeMarini focused on making one line of high-performance bats for pros and amateurs alike. This approach, combined with a passion for the sport, led to the greatest innovation in softball history - the world’s first multi-wall bat: the DeMarini Doublewall.

Released in 1993, the DeMarini Doublewall was the world’s first multi-wall bat. Like a modern golf driver or oversized tennis racket, the Doublewall had a giant "sweetspot," which allowed average players to hit like pros. DeMarini’s sales exploded, and before long opposing bat manufacturers to notice. DeMarini - a homegrown company led by a softball fanatic - had shaken the establishment silly.

To understand the rise of the DeMarini Dynasty, you need to know Ray DeMarini. A cult hero among avid players, Ray DeMarini emerged on the professional softball scene at the age of 40, a veritable geriatric among younger players. With a scientific approach to training, a batting speed of 96 miles-per-hour and a bombastic attitude, DeMarini fast earned a reputation as a savage competitor.

In June of 1987, ESPN launched a nationwide search for a hardcore player to advise on a series of instructional softball videos. When approached by producer Erich Lytle, the biggest boys in softball repeatedly spoke of a five-foot-seven softball giant—Ray DeMarini. DeMarini had mastered reflex hitting, a technique that drops the ball squarely between the infield and outfield. Impressed with DeMarini's knowledge and scientific approach to training, Lytle not only hired Ray as an advisor—he hired him as the host. Together, they produced Ray DeMarini's Reflex Hitting System, ESPN's most successful home video to date.

Having garnered national recognition through ESPN, Ray turned his efforts toward designing a high-performance bat for the masses. To accomplish this, he needed an engineer. "Not just an engineer," he said, "but a boot-strapping rocket scientist who could build an empire with pocket change." Ray's call was answered by Mike Eggiman. Having grown up on a farm, Eggiman was adept at making the most of a situation. Case in point: the company's first piece of automated bat-making equipment had the heart of an abandoned washing machine.

With Eggiman as Chief Engineer, DeMarini Sports delivered a series of industry firsts: the first multi-wall bat (Doublewall Distance), the first high-performance bat for massive players (Fatboy) and the first high-performance youth bat (Black Coyote).

In 2000, DeMarini joined forces with Wilson Sporting Goods to develop the next generation of hitting technology. Ray believed it was a perfect fit, as both companies shared a vision of developing game-enhancing equipment for avid players. What’s more, the companies had complimentary products: Wilson was the leader in gloves, balls and protective gear, while DeMarini made the world’s finest bats. According to Chris Considine, Vice President/General Manager of Wilson Sporting Goods: "The thing that struck me most about DeMarini was their passion for sports and their true competitiveness.

Within a year, DeMarini unveiled the industry’s first concept bat, the $35,000 F1. Secured under lock and key at the DeMarini Bat Industrial Complex in Hillsboro, Oregon, the F1 served as a technological storehouse for future products, including DeMarini’s landmark Half & Half system.

In December 2001, 12 years after the genesis of DeMarini Sports, Ray DeMarini died of cancer in his Northwest Portland home. He was 55. The next summer, the Portland Metro Softball Association paid homage to the “King of Softball” with the dedication of Ray DeMarini Field. Formerly known as Delta #1, the field was DeMarini’s favorite place to test bats during the early days of business. Ray DeMarini—bat maker and player extraordinaire—was remembered for his high-performance softball bats and unwavering encouragement of everyday players. Today, a 40-foot sign announcing RAY DEMARINI FIELD graces the outfield, and an interpretive display chronicling Ray’s life greets players as they register for games.

More "Insane Dedication to Performance" is in store for tomorrow.

Good mid-range choice(27/-11) velo Mike Coach

Pros: My 6yr old has the 5150 27/-11 and threat 28/-12. But this is his go to Bat. Consistently hitting baseballs to the outfield. Good pop for USA bat. Other owned bats 2018 voodoo one(28/18), 2018 5150(28/18, and 2018 prodigy(27/16).

Cons: USA bat! His real go bat. Is the CAT8. But the velo gets real close!

Good bat for the middle of the road (29/18.) CY Coach

Pros: Slightly lighter than our 5150 with weight coming in at 19.6 ounces. Seems to have good pop along with good swing weight. A bunch of the kids on the team all took turns hitting with it and liked it.

Cons: Still going to get vibrations when hitting off the end cap or handle. Was hitting yesterday in 50 degree temps and it rung my sons hands pretty good a few times. I am sure the cold temps played a large part of it.

Pros: got this a couple of weeks ago in preparation for the baseball season. My son used a 27/16 last year, and bumped up to a 28/17 this year. We have hit in the cold and rain, and the bat has way more pop than the Prodigy he used the last 2 season. Excited to see what it can do on a warm day.

Questions and Answers (9)

Have a question about the Rawlings VELO -11 USA Baseball Bat: US9V11? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

The velo-10 and velo -11 is the same bat right the only difference is the weight right? Because looking at the pics it looks like the 2 5/8" barrel in the drop 10 is bigger.
Coach Rich
The difference between the -10 and -11 Rawlings VELO USA Baseball Bat is the length to weight ratio (the drop). Both barrels are 2 5/8" diameter.
Dani
Can you expect the same performance in the current year Velo -11 as the current year Velo -10? How do the current VELOs compare, performance wise, to last year's bat?
Mike
Yes, the performance of the -10 and the Rawlings VELO -11 USA Baseball Bat: US9V11 models should be very similar. The drop 10 option will potentially have the upper hand in durability as a result of having an additional ounce in the construction though. Furthermore, we have seen the performance to be very similar among last year's bat and this year's models.
Tyler
Would you please tell me the actual weight of the 27/16? I assume it is heavier than stated. We have a really small 8u player and are looking for the lightest bat possible.
Coach
The Rawlings VELO -11 USA Baseball Bat: US9V11 will weigh an estimated 2 ounces heavy. This is within the industry standard.
Daveron
My player weighs 50 lbs. He currently swings the Rawlings Tee Ball Bat (26"/15 oz). Would you recommend this bat for a 7 year old going into coach pitch?
Armando Merino
Based on your player's age, We would recommend going to the 27" length of this Rawlings VELO -11 USA Baseball Bat (US9V11). As long as the 16 oz weight can be handled, I think a 27" version of this bat will be great for your player.
Ben
What does it mean by half and half construction?
herc kalos
The Rawlings VELO -11 USA Baseball Bat (US9V11) is a one-piece aluminum bat but it features a composite end cap. This design helps make the bat feel incredibly balanced.
Taylor
Will the Rawlings Velo or the DeMarini Sabotage be a more forgiving bat for a 45 pound 8 year old? Which one has more weight distributed towards the handle?
Jarrod Harpole
Both this Rawlings VELO -11 USA (US9V11) and the DeMarini Sabotage -12 USA (WTDXUML) will be very well balanced, so it's hard to say which has the edge there. I would lean slightly towards the Rawlings however in my opinion. As for more forgiving, the DeMarini Sabotage will have better vibration dampening due to its two-piece design vs the one-piece design of the Rawlings, so I would give a slight edge to that bat there.
Kyle
Any bat that is 2 5/8" must have a BBCOR stamp on it for our league. I can't seem to find whether this bat has it or not?
Davis
All BBCOR bats will feature a 2 5/8" barrel diameter with a -3 length to weight ratio. This Rawlings VELO -11 USA Baseball Bat: US9V11 does feature a 2 5/8" barrel diameter but it is not BBCOR stamped as it has a -11 length to weight ratio. The Rawlings VELO BBCOR model is the Rawlings VELO BBCOR Baseball Bat: BB9V3.
Cameron
Does this version have the same “ping” sound as the older Velo? (My other son has the current Rawlings Threat and it makes a less desirable muted sound, like a wood bat)
Kevin M
The "ping" sound displayed on this Rawlings VELO -11 USA Baseball Bat (US9V11) should be the same as the "ping" sound featured on the 2018 Rawlings VELO. The reason the sound should be the same on the two bats is because both bats feature the Acoustic Alloy from Rawlings.
Ben

A Rawlings bat with a 2 5/8" barrel diameter would be USA certified, especially if you are seeking a 30 inch 20 ounce model. The Rawlings VELO -11 USA Baseball Bat: US9V11 would be an option that would meet your specs. If you are needing a USSSA bat, then the selection becomes very limited with a 2 5/8" barrel diameter.

About the Brand

Rawlings is a major manufacturer of competitive team sports equipment and apparel for baseball, basketball, and football, as well as licensed MLB, NFL, and NCAA retail products. Rawlings is a major supplier to professional, collegiate, interscholastic and amateur organizations worldwide, including the Official Baseball Supplier to Major League Baseball.

The first real innovation in glove making occurred in 1912 when Rawlings Sporting Goods Company introduced the "Sure Catch" glove, which was "endorsed by leading players all over the country." The Sure Catch was a one-piece glove with sewn-in finger channels and looked better suited for a duck's foot than a man's hand. Catchers' mitts used at the time were large and bulky with a single leather thong passing for a web.

In 1920, Bill Doak, a journeyman pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, approached Rawlings with an idea for improving the baseball glove from a mere protective device to a genuine aid in fielding. The "Bill Doak" model was so revolutionary that it stayed in Rawlings' line until 1953. Its key feature was a multi-thong web laced into the first finger and thumb, which created for the first time in baseball's young life, a natural pocket.

In 1925, Rawlings unveiled a three-fingered fielder's glove, and ten years later improved the Bill Doak model with a two-piece leather web. At the same time, the "T" web became a rage for first basemen's mitts. The pocket underwent a pronounced change in 1941 when the Trapper Mitt, also known as the Claw, appeared. The "Deep Well" pocket was so unique that Rawlings quickly patented it. The design was improved in 1950 by adding a leather piece across the top. Another significant creation occurred in 1948 with the three-fingered Playmaker. A five-fingered fielder's model, with all fingers laced together, provided greater pocket control.

The six-fingered Trap-Eze evolved in the 1960's. In more recent years, Rawlings produced the Fastback design, which gives a glove a snugger fit, greater extension, and overall control. The Holdster is a slot through which a finger can be extended for additional protection from impacts on the pocket. Then, there is the Edge-U-Cated Heel with its extended U-shaped lacing and the Pro H Web and much-copied Basket Web.

Some of Rawlings more recent glove innovations also include the unique Spin-Stopper design which reduces ball spin when the ball hits the glove, and the Cantilever glove design feature that provides a cushioned area between the hand and the glove's palm area. In all, Rawlings has produced and patented more functionally innovative glove features and designs than that of any other glove manufacturer. The result is that the modern baseball glove is much larger, more comfortable, better padded and made to last far longer than its ancestors. It is not uncommon to see today's Major League players wearing the same Rawlings' glove they wore during their college playing days. In fact, Rawlings is the #1 glove in the major leagues. Rawlings maintains about 65 models of baseball and softball mitts and gloves in its line. The prototypes of virtually all of them have been field tested by professionals before entering a sporting goods dealer's inventory.
