Better then the 618 right out of the wrapper! Batting_Coach parent

Pros: My son has used the 29/18 618 USA Solo for over 100+ games and countless BP sessions. The 619 is hotter right out of the wrapper then his well broken in 618 Solo. I was doing fielding practice with him and normally have to hit the ball fairly hard to simulate what he will see in the game. First few hits were rockets coming off the barrel and very very close to his 1.15 618 2-3/4" Solo. We hit his 618 USA back to back with the 619 USA definitely has more exit speed and gained some distance. Actually was out hitting his 1.15 USSSA Solo -10. 29/18 true weight is 19.2oz on the scale. 619 seems better balanced then the 618 and no doubt has a higher exit velocity.

Cons: I changed the grip back to a lizard skin and removed the rubber flaired knob. My son doesnt care for the squishy feel of the taper after a few games. Removing the grip was alot easier then the Lizardskins which leaves that glue tape behind. Stock grip comes off clean.

tried it paul Coach

Pros: true to weight, ours on the postal scale was 17.1 oz for a 28 -11, amazing swing weight,

Cons: my kid didn't want to swing it hard as the sting was crazy on the hands, small sweet spot, just sold it on ebay as he hated it, one week old, btw the ghost x was dead, the beast x was his favorite bat but a 28-10 is over 20oz, I hate the usa bats, I use them in practice to hit grounders and cant understand the high ratings

Great bat for USA Adam Parent

Pros: Bought this bat for my son who is about 48” tall. We bought a 28” and he is loving it! He hits it into the outfield consistently and says it feels much easier to swing. He likes it better than the hyper lite and hits it further. He already has 3 home runs this year.

Cons: He does complain of the vibration sometimes.

It's a 1 piece USA Mavererik Coach

Pros: No USA bat is ever gonna really wow you. With that said you can certainly do worse than the Solo. Decent grip and sized handle, ok on mishits feel it on your hands more towards the end of the bat, middle of the road sweet spot but excellent swing weight.

Cons: You do get some vibrations but you will with any 1 piece. That's the trade off for durability.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Louisville Slugger Solo 619 -11 USA Baseball Bat: WTLUBS619B11? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

My kid is now playing Junior high ball, they told me the bat must be a -3. Is this bat -3? TJ
The Louisville Slugger Solo 619 -11 USA Baseball Bat: WTLUBS619B11 is a -11 model. If you are needing a -3 bat then it is a BBCOR model that you would be seeking such as the Louisville Slugger Solo 619 BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBS619B3.
Cameron
My son is 7 years old and 49 inches. Would you recommend this bat for coach pitch? Will
The Louisville Slugger Solo 619 -11 USA Baseball Bat: WTLUBS619B11 is certainly a great bat to use for coach pitch leagues. As well, the balanced swing weight of this bat should make it easier for a 7 year old player to use; the -11 length to weight ratio helps as well.
Cameron
I have a big 7 year old. He's 54" tall and weighs about 92 lbs. He has been using the 618 28" and he loves it. It looks small on him so I am considering jumping to the 619 30". I've tested a couple of bats and length would work, just not sure about weight but I think he can handle it. Any suggestions? Keith
With the size specifications listed, we would concur that the 30 inch of the Louisville Slugger Solo 619 -11 USA Baseball Bat: WTLUBS619B11 would be the right length. At 7 years old, staying at -11 might be a good idea as the 30 inch option will already weigh two ounces heavier. If possible, have him try out 30"/20oz models to see if he can swing the heavier -10 bats.
Daveron
My 8 years old, he is 52" tall and about 67 lbs. We are just starting kid pitch. What length of bat should we go with and drop? sean
Based on your player's height and weight, I would suggest a 28" Louisville Slugger Solo 619 -11 USA Baseball Bat: WTLUBS619B11.
Logan
Will this bat be available in a 27" length? Mike
The Louisville Slugger Solo 619 -11 USA Baseball Bat (WTLUBS619B11) will not be made in a 27" length. The smallest Solo 619 -11 USA-certified bat will be 28"/17 oz.
Taylor
How does this compare to the AXE bat lineup? David Goff
This Louisville Slugger Solo 619 -11 USA Baseball Bat (WTLUBS619B11) will be most similar to the Axe EliteOne HyperSpeed -10 USA Baseball Bat (L139G-HS). Both bats have the all-aluminum design and a special end-cap to make the bat feel lighter overall.
Ben
Will this bat come in a 27" length? Frank
The Louisville Slugger Solo 619 -11 USA Baseball Bat: WTLUBS619B11 will not be offered in a 27" length.
Logan
Why do the bats not come in shorter lengths? Eric
Bat lengths are determined by the manufacturers themselves. Louisville Slugger has likely not been able to replicate the performance and durability in any of the Louisville Slugger Solo 619 -11 USA Baseball Bat: WTLUBS619B11 less than 28" in size so they are not going to offering those to the public.
Tyler
What is the purpose of the tapered handle? Matt
The tapered handle of the Louisville Slugger Solo 619 -11 USA Baseball Bat: WTLUBS619B11 will fit the curvature of the human hand to make a more comfortable feel.
Max
My son doesn't like the tapered handle. If I take off the grip, the handle of the bat itself is not tapered, correct? Matt
Correct. On this Louisville Slugger Solo 619 -11 USA Baseball Bat (WTLUBS619B11), you can remove the grip and then also remove the piece of rubber underneath the grip that creates the taper. At that time, you can add a replacement grip with any brand you wish and no taper will be present.
Ben
Does LS make an all aluminum bat which is drop 8? The Select is a hybrid whereas the Solo is a little light in weight. Thank you very much. Jim
At the moment Louisville Slugger does not make an all alloy bat for USA with a -8 drop. The Select Hybrid is their only option in that category.
Kyle J.
I have an 11 year old son who weighs about 87 lbs and is 4'11.75" tall. He used a 30" (-10) Omaha last year. Is it detrimental for him to use the 30" Solo since it is a drop 11 at his age? Is the -11 too light at his age (in preparation for middle school, etc next year)? thanks! Sean Jean
It all depends on how you want to gradually adjust them to heavier bats. Generally you want to slowly have them swing heavier bats if they intend to keep playing, because high school requires -3 BBCOR models. Swinging a -11 now wouldn't hurt, no, it's just up to you if you want to have them swing a heavier model now for them to get used to, or go with a lighter bat and get a heavier model later on.
Kyle J.
What is the thickness of the grip on this bat, and would switching to a lizard skin grip help stinging the hands? Mitch
It appears that the thickness of Louisville Slugger bat grips are 1.0mm. As to whether Lizard Skin grips would help with the sting, I can't say for certain. I would probably suggest padding batting gloves over grip tape though as I think those would help more.
Kyle
What's the drop on your 32 inch length bat? Marcus Dyer
The Louisville Slugger Solo 619 -11 USA Baseball Bat: WTLUBS619B11 is a drop 11 bat. At 32 inches, the bat would weigh 21 ounces.
Cameron
Does this bat have the 1.15 BPF stamp on it? Carmen
No, the Louisville Slugger Solo 619 -11 USA Baseball Bat: WTLUBS619B11 does not have the 1.15 BPF stamp on it; that is only found on bats that are USSSA stamped.
Cameron
Would it be good for high school baseball? caleb garrett
The Louisville Slugger Solo 619 -11 USA Baseball Bat: WTLUBS619B11 cannot be used in high school. Only BBCOR stamped bats are allowed.
Cameron
What other colors do you have in this size bat? Ebby
Unfortunately, the Louisville Slugger Solo 619 -11 USA Baseball Bat: WTLUBS619B11 only comes in the one colorway design.
Cameron
Is this bat allowed in pony league? Logan
Yes Louisville Slugger Solo 619 -11 USA Baseball Bat: WTLUBS619B11 is allowed in pony league.
Tyler
What is the barrel size? Tony
The Louisville Slugger Solo 619 -11 USA Baseball Bat: WTLUBS619B11 features a 2 5/8" barrel diameter.
Cameron
How does this compare vs the Rawlings 5150 -11 USA bat? Deciding between the 2 for my twin 8 year olds Matt F.
The Louisville Slugger Solo 619 -11 USA Baseball Bat: WTLUBS619B11 and the 5150 are both one-piece alloy bats with a 2 5/8" barrel diameter. The overall swing weight feel of the 619 -11 will be better (more balanced) when compared to the 5150.

About the Brand

In 1842, J. Frederick Hillerich emigrated with his family from Baden-Baden, Germany to the United States. Eight years before, the 1834 Book of Sports had made its debut as the nation's first publication covering baseball. But when he arrived in Baltimore, J. Frederick Hillerich would never have dreamed of the future impact his family would have on America's favorite pastime.

After a short while, the Hillerichs moved to Louisville, where J. Fred started a woodworking shop in 1856. Two of his sons, Adam and John Andrew "Bud" were born in the United States and would later join their father in his business. By 1864 "J.F. Hillerich, Job Turning" was in operation and filled orders for businesses by custom-turning everything from balusters to bedposts.

The firm thrived, and by 1875 the little woodworking shop employed about 20 people. In 1880 Bud Hillerich, who was an amateur baseball player, became an apprentice in his father's shop. Young Bud made his own baseball bats along with bats for several of his teammates.

The debate over the origins of the first bat continues to generate controversy among baseball enthusiasts, but the younger Hillerich was most certainly involved in getting his father's business involved with what would become the company's signature item. According to company legend, the first bat was turned by Bud for Pete "The Old Gladiator" Browning in 1884. Browning was a star on Louisville's professional American Association team - the Eclipse. On a spring afternoon Bud, then seventeen, witnessed Browning break his favorite bat. Bud offered to make a bat for his hero, and Browning accepted. After the young wood shop apprentice lathed a quality stick from white ash, according to the story, Browning got three hits with it in the next game.

Louisville Slugger gloves are worn by more pitchers in Major League Baseball than any other glove.
