2.5 oz over john baseball player

Pros: better than last year. 27/16 weighs 18.3 oz. however the 27/15 demarini weighs the same. 3oz over! so much foright weight balanced swing weight. but with that being said. the Sabatoge -11 and -12 are still better than last year.

Cons: still not a balanced feel

Great bat !!! Greg k Parent

Pros: We purchased a 29/-11 sabotage one to replace a bat damaged mid fall season. My 9yr old loves it .... we immediately noticed greater control and he loves the pop... the ball really jumps off the bat and carries well into the outfield. Without question his confidence has translated into an aggressive swing with less misses. This was a great buy...in fact I'm ready to get the 30/-11 in preparation for his growth.

Cons: During batting practice on 50 an inside pitch has stung him a few times as expected. The upside is the ball jumps and he hangs in there.

Good Value Eric Beauregard Coach

Pros: Good bat for young player. Has good pop. All the kids on our team wanted to use it. Seems pretty durable. Between improved approach and switching to this bat we saw great in improvement in several players. Most kids are 7 years old on our team. I

Cons: One piece aluminum construction causes a fair amount of vibration. This should be somewhat expected, but seems more than most of our bats. If you are playing travel ball I would suggest the two piece composite option or the CF Zen if you don’t mind shelling out the extra cash.

Is this bat a true -11?
Super Speed
Almost any bat will be slightly heavier than the listed weight, usually about .5-1.5 oz heavier. This is due to manufacturer's weighing the bat before things such as glue for the end cap, grip tape adhesive, paint, etc are included. This bat most likely falls into that range as well, as USA certified bats almost always are a bit heavier than listed.

About the Brand

In 1992, DeMarini Sports had something to celebrate. The three-year-old company had climbed a rung on the proverbial ladder of success, moving its world headquarters from a dirt-floored barn to a slightly larger metal shack. "It was a big move for us," recalled Ray DeMarini from the batting cage of DeMarini Sport’s present-day Bat Industrial Complex. "The new shop was larger, more storm resistant, and -best of all- it had a heater."

In the early days, DeMarini Sports hardly made a blip on the radar screen of softball. With no retailers and virtually no advertising budget, DeMarini grew steadily by selling high-performance bats directly to customers. While established companies made "juiced" bats for the pros and ordinary bats for the public, DeMarini focused on making one line of high-performance bats for pros and amateurs alike. This approach, combined with a passion for the sport, led to the greatest innovation in softball history - the world’s first multi-wall bat: the DeMarini Doublewall.

Released in 1993, the DeMarini Doublewall was the world’s first multi-wall bat. Like a modern golf driver or oversized tennis racket, the Doublewall had a giant "sweetspot," which allowed average players to hit like pros. DeMarini’s sales exploded, and before long opposing bat manufacturers to notice. DeMarini - a homegrown company led by a softball fanatic - had shaken the establishment silly.

To understand the rise of the DeMarini Dynasty, you need to know Ray DeMarini. A cult hero among avid players, Ray DeMarini emerged on the professional softball scene at the age of 40, a veritable geriatric among younger players. With a scientific approach to training, a batting speed of 96 miles-per-hour and a bombastic attitude, DeMarini fast earned a reputation as a savage competitor.

In June of 1987, ESPN launched a nationwide search for a hardcore player to advise on a series of instructional softball videos. When approached by producer Erich Lytle, the biggest boys in softball repeatedly spoke of a five-foot-seven softball giant—Ray DeMarini. DeMarini had mastered reflex hitting, a technique that drops the ball squarely between the infield and outfield. Impressed with DeMarini's knowledge and scientific approach to training, Lytle not only hired Ray as an advisor—he hired him as the host. Together, they produced Ray DeMarini's Reflex Hitting System, ESPN's most successful home video to date.

Having garnered national recognition through ESPN, Ray turned his efforts toward designing a high-performance bat for the masses. To accomplish this, he needed an engineer. "Not just an engineer," he said, "but a boot-strapping rocket scientist who could build an empire with pocket change." Ray's call was answered by Mike Eggiman. Having grown up on a farm, Eggiman was adept at making the most of a situation. Case in point: the company's first piece of automated bat-making equipment had the heart of an abandoned washing machine.

With Eggiman as Chief Engineer, DeMarini Sports delivered a series of industry firsts: the first multi-wall bat (Doublewall Distance), the first high-performance bat for massive players (Fatboy) and the first high-performance youth bat (Black Coyote).

In 2000, DeMarini joined forces with Wilson Sporting Goods to develop the next generation of hitting technology. Ray believed it was a perfect fit, as both companies shared a vision of developing game-enhancing equipment for avid players. What’s more, the companies had complimentary products: Wilson was the leader in gloves, balls and protective gear, while DeMarini made the world’s finest bats. According to Chris Considine, Vice President/General Manager of Wilson Sporting Goods: "The thing that struck me most about DeMarini was their passion for sports and their true competitiveness.

Within a year, DeMarini unveiled the industry’s first concept bat, the $35,000 F1. Secured under lock and key at the DeMarini Bat Industrial Complex in Hillsboro, Oregon, the F1 served as a technological storehouse for future products, including DeMarini’s landmark Half & Half system.

In December 2001, 12 years after the genesis of DeMarini Sports, Ray DeMarini died of cancer in his Northwest Portland home. He was 55. The next summer, the Portland Metro Softball Association paid homage to the “King of Softball” with the dedication of Ray DeMarini Field. Formerly known as Delta #1, the field was DeMarini’s favorite place to test bats during the early days of business. Ray DeMarini—bat maker and player extraordinaire—was remembered for his high-performance softball bats and unwavering encouragement of everyday players. Today, a 40-foot sign announcing RAY DEMARINI FIELD graces the outfield, and an interpretive display chronicling Ray’s life greets players as they register for games.

More "Insane Dedication to Performance" is in store for tomorrow.

Better then the 618 right out of the wrapper! Batting_Coach parent

Pros: My son has used the 29/18 618 USA Solo for over 100+ games and countless BP sessions. The 619 is hotter right out of the wrapper then his well broken in 618 Solo. I was doing fielding practice with him and normally have to hit the ball fairly hard to simulate what he will see in the game. First few hits were rockets coming off the barrel and very very close to his 1.15 618 2-3/4" Solo. We hit his 618 USA back to back with the 619 USA definitely has more exit speed and gained some distance. Actually was out hitting his 1.15 USSSA Solo -10. 29/18 true weight is 19.2oz on the scale. 619 seems better balanced then the 618 and no doubt has a higher exit velocity.

Cons: I changed the grip back to a lizard skin and removed the rubber flaired knob. My son doesnt care for the squishy feel of the taper after a few games. Removing the grip was alot easier then the Lizardskins which leaves that glue tape behind. Stock grip comes off clean.

Cons: my kid didn't want to swing it hard as the sting was crazy on the hands, small sweet spot, just sold it on ebay as he hated it, one week old, btw the ghost x was dead, the beast x was his favorite bat but a 28-10 is over 20oz, I hate the usa bats, I use them in practice to hit grounders and cant understand the high ratings

USA Bats are killing the game Big Daddy Coach

Pros: Nice looking bat pretty true to weight. Grip is decent.

Cons: As with all USA bats, it really is hard to get used to the lack of pop. My son swings his wood bat as an alternative and the ball goes much further with that. You might as well invest in a couple nice maple wood bats. You can buy 2 or 3 for the price of a new USA bat and if your child can swing they will hit further. Or better yet, just play Club Ball until these organizations come to their senses and realize the game is horrible with these bats.

Does the design change at all over last year's Solo? Or, is it just a fresh look?
Chris
The 2019 Louisville Slugger Solo 619 -11 USA Baseball Bat: WTLUBS619B11 features a new grip tape and end cap design. This bat should be more balanced and truer to the listed weight compared to the Solo 618.
Cameron
What is the main difference between the 2018 Louisville Solo and the 2019?
Brian
There really isn't much change from the 2018 to the 2019 Louisville Slugger Solo 619 -11 USA Baseball Bat: WTLUBS619B11, just slightly different cosmetics.
Logan
My kid is now playing Junior high ball, they told me the bat must be a -3. Is this bat -3?
TJ
The 2019 Louisville Slugger Solo 619 -11 USA Baseball Bat: WTLUBS619B11 is a -11 model. If you are needing a -3 bat then it is a BBCOR model that you would be seeking such as the 2019 Louisville Slugger Solo 619 BBCOR Baseball Bat: WTLBBS619B3.
Cameron
My son is 7 years old and 49 inches. Would you recommend this bat for coach pitch?
Will
The 2019 Louisville Slugger Solo 619 -11 USA Baseball Bat: WTLUBS619B11 is certainly a great bat to use for coach pitch leagues. As well, the balanced swing weight of this bat should make it easier for a 7 year old player to use; the -11 length to weight ratio helps as well.
Cameron

The 2019 Louisville Slugger Solo 619 -11 USA Baseball Bat: WTLUBS619B11 now has an improved end cap in place to provide better weight balance and more player control through the course of their swing.
Tyler
Which drop 11 bat would you recommend for an 11 year old who isn't the strongest kid?
F in H
If you're needing a -11 USA approved bat, it would be hard to find something better than the 2019 Louisville Slugger Solo 619 -11 USA Baseball Bat: WTLUBS619B11. The 2018 model was highly sought after and was the highest rated USA bat of 2018 for us, so the 2019 should follow suit.
Logan
I have a big 7 year old. He's 54" tall and weighs about 92 lbs. He has been using the 618 28" and he loves it. It looks small on him so I am considering jumping to the 619 30". I've tested a couple of bats and length would work, just not sure about weight but I think he can handle it. Any suggestions?
Keith
With the size specifications listed, we would concur that the 30 inch of the 2019 Louisville Slugger Solo 619 -11 USA Baseball Bat: WTLUBS619B11 would be the right length. At 7 years old, staying at -11 might be a good idea as the 30 inch option will already weigh two ounces heavier. If possible, have him try out 30"/20oz models to see if he can swing the heavier -10 bats.
Daveron
My 8 years old, he is 52" tall and about 67 lbs. We are just starting kid pitch. What length of bat should we go with and drop?
sean
Based on your player's height and weight, I would suggest a 28" 2019 Louisville Slugger Solo 619 -11 USA Baseball Bat: WTLUBS619B11.
Logan
Will this bat be available in a 27" length?
Mike
The 2019 Louisville Slugger Solo 619 -11 USA Baseball Bat (WTLUBS619B11) will not be made in a 27" length. The smallest Solo 619 -11 USA-certified bat will be 28"/17 oz.
Taylor
What is the true weight of the the 28/17 Solo 619? I know it's listed at 17oz, but this is hardly the case.
Wes
The 28/17 2019 Louisville Slugger Solo 619 -11 USA Baseball Bat: WTLUBS619B11 will weigh just over 18 ounces.
Logan
What is the difference between the Slugger Solo 618 and the comparably sized 619?
Tony P.
This 2019 Louisville Slugger Solo 619 -11 USA Baseball Bat (WTLUBS619B11) and the 2019 Louisville Slugger Solo 619 -11 USA Baseball Bat (WTLUBS619B11) are essentially going to be the same bat, but with differing cosmetics.
Ben
I have an 8 year old 52 inches tall 60 pounds. He doesn't have a strong swing, the DeMarini 2018 uprising 28 inch we got last year is still a little heavy for him. How might the Solo 619 compare to the Solo Speed or the DeMarini Sabotage? He may still get stronger by spring time, but is the 619 lighter swing weight than the 2018 Demarini Uprising? Or should I be looking at these drop -12/-13 bats in a 28'' or 29''?
Alex
The 2019 Louisville Slugger Solo 619 -11 USA Baseball Bat: WTLUBS619B11 will have a light swing weight, but if the Uprising 28'' was too heavy I feel like the 2019 Louisville Slugger Solo 619 -11 USA Baseball Bat: WTLUBS619B11 will be as well. I would take a look at the 619 Solo Speed, which will be lighter and have a 2 3/8'' barrel diameter.
Max
How does this compare to the 2019 AXE -10 bat lineup?
David Goff
This 2019 Louisville Slugger Solo 619 -11 USA Baseball Bat (WTLUBS619B11) will be most similar to the 2019 Axe EliteOne HyperSpeed -10 USA Baseball Bat (L139G-HS). Both bats have the all-aluminum design and a special end-cap to make the bat feel lighter overall.
Ben
Will this bat come in a 27" length?
Frank
The 2019 Louisville Slugger Solo 619 -11 USA Baseball Bat: WTLUBS619B11 will not be offered in a 27" length.
Logan
Why do the bats not come in shorter lengths?
Eric
Bat lengths are determined by the manufacturers themselves. Louisville Slugger has likely not been able to replicate the performance and durability in any of the 2019 Louisville Slugger Solo 619 -11 USA Baseball Bat: WTLUBS619B11 less than 28" in size so they are not going to offering those to the public.
Tyler
What is the purpose of the tapered handle?
Matt
The tapered handle of the 2019 Louisville Slugger Solo 619 -11 USA Baseball Bat: WTLUBS619B11 will fit the curvature of the human hand to make a more comfortable feel.
Max
My son doesn't like the tapered handle. If I take off the grip, the handle of the bat itself is not tapered, correct?
Matt
Correct. On this 2019 Louisville Slugger Solo 619 -11 USA Baseball Bat (WTLUBS619B11), you can remove the grip and then also remove the piece of rubber underneath the grip that creates the taper. At that time, you can add a replacement grip with any brand you wish and no taper will be present.
Ben
Is there a big difference in the performance of the 18 Solo vs the 19 Solo?
Liz
No, there will not be a big difference between the 618 and the Louisville Slugger Solo 619 -11 USA Baseball Bat: WTLUBS619B11 as each are held to the same USA performance certification.
Tyler
My son is using a the 2018 Easton Hyperlight 27/16. He is 5 years old, 4 ft tall and 50 pounds. Do you think the 28/17 would be too big for him/heavy?
Tino
Based on his height and weight, I think a 27'' is still the best size for him and a 28'' would most likely be too large. (NP)
Tori
Does LS make an all aluminum bat which is drop 8? The Select is a hybrid whereas the Solo is a little light in weight. Thank you very much.
Jim
At the moment Louisville Slugger does not make an all alloy bat for USA with a -8 drop. The Select Hybrid is their only option in that category.
Kyle J.
I have an 11 year old son who weighs about 87 lbs and is 4'11.75" tall. He used a 30" (-10) Omaha last year. Is it detrimental for him to use the 30" Solo since it is a drop 11 at his age? Is the -11 too light at his age (in preparation for middle school, etc next year)? thanks!
Sean Jean
It all depends on how you want to gradually adjust them to heavier bats. Generally you want to slowly have them swing heavier bats if they intend to keep playing, because high school requires -3 BBCOR models. Swinging a -11 now wouldn't hurt, no, it's just up to you if you want to have them swing a heavier model now for them to get used to, or go with a lighter bat and get a heavier model later on.

What is the difference between this bat and the 718 Select Louisville came out with last year?
Vincent
There are actually a couple difference between those two models. This Louisville Slugger Solo 619 -11 USA Baseball Bat: WTLUBS619B11 is a one-piece alloy bat with a composite end cap. It is going to be extremely balanced and easily controlled through the swing path. The Select 718 was a hybrid model with an alloy barrel and a composite handle. This nullifies more vibrations on contact than a one-piece alloy model. Furthermore, the Select 718 was a balanced model in the -10 size but not on the same level as the Solo 619 is.
Tyler
What is the thickness of the grip on this bat, and would switching to a lizard skin grip help stinging the hands?
Mitch
It appears that the thickness of Louisville Slugger bat grips are 1.0mm. As to whether Lizard Skin grips would help with the sting, I can't say for certain. I would probably suggest padding batting gloves over grip tape though as I think those would help more.

About the Brand

In 1842, J. Frederick Hillerich emigrated with his family from Baden-Baden, Germany to the United States. Eight years before, the 1834 Book of Sports had made its debut as the nation's first publication covering baseball. But when he arrived in Baltimore, J. Frederick Hillerich would never have dreamed of the future impact his family would have on America's favorite pastime.

After a short while, the Hillerichs moved to Louisville, where J. Fred started a woodworking shop in 1856. Two of his sons, Adam and John Andrew "Bud" were born in the United States and would later join their father in his business. By 1864 "J.F. Hillerich, Job Turning" was in operation and filled orders for businesses by custom-turning everything from balusters to bedposts.

The firm thrived, and by 1875 the little woodworking shop employed about 20 people. In 1880 Bud Hillerich, who was an amateur baseball player, became an apprentice in his father's shop. Young Bud made his own baseball bats along with bats for several of his teammates.

The debate over the origins of the first bat continues to generate controversy among baseball enthusiasts, but the younger Hillerich was most certainly involved in getting his father's business involved with what would become the company's signature item. According to company legend, the first bat was turned by Bud for Pete "The Old Gladiator" Browning in 1884. Browning was a star on Louisville's professional American Association team - the Eclipse. On a spring afternoon Bud, then seventeen, witnessed Browning break his favorite bat. Bud offered to make a bat for his hero, and Browning accepted. After the young wood shop apprentice lathed a quality stick from white ash, according to the story, Browning got three hits with it in the next game.

Louisville Slugger gloves are worn by more pitchers in Major League Baseball than any other glove.
