What happened to the pop Chad Hayes Parent

Pros: Well balanced bat but the pop from this bat is not as good as the CAT 8 for my son. It may be his ons swing who knows but hoping that after 300 or so hits the bat will have more pop? Had to try this bat at $149.00 price.

Cons: Not as much pop as expected. Older Canadian Combats are better then the Easton models.

2019 combat Maxum -11 Anthony L Coach

Pros: Very good feeling bat! Weight is dead on and the bat is well balanced. The barrel is designed to give a larger hitting surface which seems to work well. Customer service was excellent!

Cons: Bat doesn’t seem to have as much Pop as I was hoping for. I do feel it was worth the price of $149 ( I caught it on sale) But, as of now I don’t think I’d want to pay much more considering the lack of Pop. I’m hoping that the bat gets better as we use it.

Hit dingers Rob Coach

Pros: Good price, great pop, great feel.

Cons: If you hit this bat a lot, expect a season in a 1/2. But, for the money, can’t beat it. Our first bat started coming apart at beginning of 2nd season. However, we hit a ton of balls with it. Stay away from sand balls and batting cage hard balls. I think that contributed to it. First at bat, first pitch this year with the new bat went yard.

Where’s the pop? Adam Weber Parent

Pros: Big barrel

Cons: I bought this usssa bat for pop since the USA bats are deadened. This sounds the same and has the same effect. Should’ve gone with Marucci.

1st Homer Zeta Parent

Pros: Good pop with perfect sweet spot hit. Very light swinging. Price. My 11U son his his first homer with this bat. He was hitting for high average all season, and he was seriously thinking about moving to a heavier -10 Mako to get more pop. Sure enough he hit his first homer with this bat so he is sticking with it.

Cons: Grip isn't great.

Disappointed Adam Weber Parent

Pros: Big barrel

Cons: I went out of my way to get a USSSA for more pop and this bar is just as dead as the USA bats. I’d love to exchange it if just bats would do so.

Just ordered the bat! Chris H. Coach

Pros: Price. For how it’s made and it’s look, it seems to be doing good so far. My son has used it only a few times and he likes how it feels and it appears the ball has some extra distance on it when contact is made. So far so good!

Cons: None as of now.

Have a question about the 2019 COMBAT MAXUM -11 USSSA Baseball Bat: SL9MX211? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Are there any differences from the 2018 drop 11 Maxum bat and this 2019 drop 11 Maxum bat?
Chad H
The 2019 COMBAT MAXUM -11 USSSA Baseball Bat: SL9MX211 has a new end cap to improve balance. Other than that, the bats are very similar.
Logan
What is the actual weight of this bat? Stated weight is 19oz but I saw a review the bat actually weighs closer to 20.5 Oz. Is that right? Thanks
Mike powers
Generally speaking, every bat on the market will weigh slightly over the listed amount. Manufacturers weigh the bat before final construction, so things like the paint, adhesive glue for the end cap, and adhesive for the grip tape are not taken into account. Most bats weight about 1 oz over the listed amount.
Kyle J.
What’s the major difference in this bat and the Cat 8? I know this is composite, but which bat will be more durable and which bat will be more balanced?
Dadwithbatissues
The 2019 COMBAT MAXUM -11 USSSA Baseball Bat: SL9MX211 is a one piece, fully composite, -11 bat, while the 2019 Marucci CAT 8 -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: MSBC810 is a one piece, alloy, -10 bat. The 2019 COMBAT MAXUM -11 USSSA Baseball Bat: SL9MX211 will feature a slightly more balanced swing weight since it is an ounce lighter, and will also have a larger hitting surface due to the composite design. Durability doesn't seem to be an issue with either one to this point.
Logan
Is this bat end loaded or balanced!
aaron harbin
This is considered a balanced bat.
Kyle J.
I don't get the drop difference?
Eloy santos
The drop references the difference between the length and weight of a bat. The COMBAT MAXUM -11 USSSA Baseball Bat: SL9MX211 is a drop 11 bat which means a 30 inch model will weigh 19 ounces (difference of 11).
Cameron
I know it says hot out of the box, so I assume the bat does not need to be broken in like other composites?
Todd Murphy
The COMBAT MAXUM -11 USSSA Baseball Bat: SL9MX211 is considered to be hot out of the wrapper. However, since it is composite we still recommend taking about 100 swings at 50% power rotating the barrel 1/4'' to ensure the composite fibers are fully broken in.

Amazing Bat Coopers Dad parent

Pros: This is a bat for my 10 year old son. He was hitting pretty good with his older bat, but this bat is amazing. He is constantly hitting 220 to 240, almost over the fence. He loves the weight, the pop, and the balance of the bat. He has had no hand stingers from hitting. He loves this bat, and his team mates all want to use it now. Well worth the price, great job Louisville Slugger!!!

Stunning Bat!!!! A-Aron G Coach

Pros: Just bought this bat for my 10 year old son and he loves it!!! This thing has so much pop right out of the wrapper!!! We were really shocked after the first couple of swings!! My backyard is about 180ft he hit 2 about 185ft and the 3rd one was at least 195-200ft!! Mind you he is only 4'3" and about 72Lbs. He has a couple of other high end Demarini's but has never came close to hitting one out. By far the best bang for the buck!! I would recommend this bat to anyone out there looking for some serious pop and a great light weight balanced bat!!

Cons: When you hit the ball wrong it does sting a little. But not like other bats with some really bad sting.

Great bat - great pop Mike Other

Pros: Out of the carton the bat performs. First game my grandson used it he smoked a ball to the left-centerfield gap in his first at-bat. Yesterday at batting practice he was crushing balls his former worn-out and top-line bat would have left on the infield.

Cons: None, it's a great bat and looks the part too.

Great Bat very good price Scott M Parent

Pros: Took the time to break the bat in correctly and has good pop. Had decent pop from the start as well. Very nicely balanced and my son has excellent bat control and speed through the zone. He is on the smaller side and this is the longest and heaviest (29/17) bat he has ever swung. He is about 4'4" and weighs around 60-62 lbs.

Cons: None yet. Hoping it holds up nicely so he can finish out the summer and use it at least all fall season. With any luck it is still good to go for next season. It is unlikely he will outgrow this size bat before then. I only gave 3 stars for durability because with having it only 1 month and only using it for two tournaments it's hard to tell. It's seen about 300 or so break-in (50-75% swing)/before game swings and about 16 actual game AB's

Best drop 12 bat out there Steve Parent

Pros: Great pop out of wrapper. Just finished season and if my son doesn’t grow it should easily go another. Just bought next size up in case that growth spurt comes.

Cons: Not a big deal but paint on knob chipped up pretty quickly. Kind of expected west and tear from frequent use.

Awesome Hot Bat! Rick Tolentino Parent

Pros: Bought this bat for my 11 yr old son when he got chosen to be on a travel team. During the time we were breaking it in, we went to a field where the HR fence is 220 yds. I was soft tossing it to him, and he is hitting it toward the field, during this session my son hits it over fence over 20 times. The first time my son hit it over the fence after about 15 soft tossed, he looked at me with a smile on his face and told me that this bat has tons of pop, and continue to hit it about 200 yds. with hardly any effort at all! After he got used to swinging this bat, about 50-60 soft toss, he started hitting it over the fence consistently, at one point he hit it out 5 consecutive times. So he was very happy about this bat to say the least. And not once did my son complained about any sting (I did put in a much thicker lizard skins grip than what it came with though).

Cons: Non so far.

Glad I bought it! Shawn Coach

Pros: First two thumbs up to LS for making a bat that is almost dead on its advertised weight. I bought the bat because I needed to jump my (9 year old) son up to a 28" and didn't want a 20 oz bat. The 28 -12 weighs 16.7 oz ! No bat speed lost ! Next, it is hot out of the wrapper and gets better after about 150 - 200 hits. His fly ball hits are around 175-185. Ground balls, well hit, go straight to the 200 ' fence. Gonna buy another one when this one dies.

Cons: None yet. Hoping for reasonable durability. Too soon to tell.

Pros: Great pop

Cons: Used it for Cooperstown tournament had it for two weeks. Bat actually cracked by the shaft while my son fouled a ball off. It was like the natural when his bat broke but the results were not he same as the movie I felt so bad for him. Have a question about the 2019 Louisville Slugger Prime ONE 919 -12 USSSA Baseball Bat: WTLSLP119X12? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Is this a 2 piece or one piece bat?
Barry
The 2019 Louisville Slugger Prime ONE 919 -12 USSSA Baseball Bat: WTLSLP119X12 is a one piece composite bat.
Logan
How does this bat compare to the 2018 Louisville Slugger Catalyst -12 Senior League Baseball Bat: WTLSLCT18X12? What is the difference in the composite material?
ax
Both the 2019 Louisville Slugger Prime ONE 919 -12 USSSA Baseball Bat: WTLSLP119X12 and the 2018 Louisville Slugger Catalyst -12 Senior League Baseball Bat: WTLSLCT18X12 are one-piece composite bats with balanced swing weights. The Prime ONE, in theory, should have a more balanced swing weight due to the SBC end cap and microform composite barrel design.
Cameron
How does this bat compare to the 2019 Easton Ghost X -12? Also, what size would recommend for a 9 yr old (54 inches and 62 pounds)?
Cdnballplayer
The 2019 Louisville Slugger Prime ONE 919 -12 USSSA Baseball Bat: WTLSLP119X12 is similar to the Easton Ghost X -12 bat in that both are one-piece all composite with a balanced swing weight and 2 3/4" barrel diameter. Per your player's height and weight, we would recommend getting a 29 inch model.
Cameron
Does the 919 -12 USSSA bat have a smaller barrel than the 919 -10 USSSA and 619 -10 USSA bats?
j35
The barrel diameter of all these models is 2 3/4" in diameter.
Kyle J.
Does the 919 -12 USSSA bat have a smaller barrel profile/sweet spot than the 919 -10 USSSA and 619 -10 USSSA bats? (not diameter which is listed in the description) Are they the same from the end of the bat to where it starts to curve inward?
J35
The 2019 Louisville Slugger Prime 919 -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: WTLSLP919X10 will have a slightly longer barrel at the same bat length than the 2019 Louisville Slugger Prime ONE 919 -12 USSSA Baseball Bat: WTLSLP119X12 just due to the amount of material that can be used on a heavier -10 vs. a -12.
Logan
Can my son use this bat when it is cold?
Melinda
The composite barrel of the Louisville Slugger Prime ONE 919 -12 USSSA Baseball Bat: WTLSLP119X12 can experience issues in colder weather, temperatures 55-60 degrees or below. We suggest limiting this bat in colder weather to just your player and in game only.
Daveron
I am choosing between this bat and the CAT8. I was thinking this bat because of -12 for faster bat speed. He is on smaller side. He is 9, 4’4’’ and 62 lbs. What are your thoughts?
Drew
Based on his age and size, I do think it would be a better choice to get the 2019 Louisville Slugger Prime ONE 919 -12 USSSA Baseball Bat: WTLSLP119X12 as it sounds like he needs a lighter bat to help with swing speed.
Tori
Is this a good coach pitch bat?
shawn
The Louisville Slugger Prime ONE 919 -12 USSSA Baseball Bat: WTLSLP119X12 can be used for Coach Pitch; however, it is intended for the faster velocity of kid pitch. A coach pitch option would be a Junior Big Barrel, like the Louisville Slugger Omaha 518 -10 Junior Big Barrel Baseball Bat: WTLSLO518J10.

I have a 9 year old @ 4'9" & 105 lbs. He is moving up from Ghost X Hyperlite (29"/17 oz). How does the 919 compare to 2018 CF Zen? Recommended length/drop?
Cody
Based on your player's height and weight, I would recommend getting a bat in the 30" length. This Louisville Slugger Prime ONE 919 -12 USSSA Baseball Bat (WTLSLP119X12) will definitely be lighter than the CF Zen as this Prime ONE has a -12 sizing. The Zen is -10 at the lightest. If you were wanting to move him to something a little heavier and allow for more progression in regard to bat size, the ZEN is the way to go. However, if you want to make the most gradual jump from a 29"/17 oz size to a 30"/18 oz size, this Prime ONE would be the bat to purchase.
Ben
Does this bat need to be broken in? Thanks
Randy
The Louisville Slugger Prime ONE 919 -12 USSSA Baseball Bat: WTLSLP119X12 features a composite barrel. We suggest all composite barrels to be broken in before they see live pitching. Generally, 150-200 swings off a tee, rotating the bat every 10 swings will accomplish this.

I was wondering what the difference is between from the PRIME ONE vs Solo 619?
Jadin
The Louisville Slugger Prime ONE 919 -12 USSSA Baseball Bat: WTLSLP119X12 is a one-piece all composite bat while the Solo 619 Louisville Slugger Solo 619 -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: WTLSLS619X10 is a one-piece alloy bat. Both bats are balanced but the Solo 619 is two ounces heavier. As well, the Louisville Slugger Prime ONE 919 -12 USSSA Baseball Bat: WTLSLP119X12 is best suited for players between the ages of 6-10.
Cameron
Is this bat designed for 9u travel ball?
Kyle
The Louisville Slugger Prime ONE 919 -12 USSSA Baseball Bat: WTLSLP119X12 is approved for travel ball. The -12 option is a good length to weight distribution for 9U players.

I’m interested in this bat for my son, but I have heard that USSSA bats will be outlawed in 2020. Wanted to ask if you all knew anything about that. He plays in a USSSA rec league and in local USSSA tournaments.
Brett
We have not heard anything regarding USSSA bats and them being outlawed in 2020. Your local league may put bats regulations in place that may make the Louisville Slugger Prime ONE 919 -12 USSSA Baseball Bat: WTLSLP119X12 illegal to use but we have not heard of anything from a nationwide standpoint renegading the use of USSSA bats.
Cameron
Which bat is the best? CAT Composite, Louisville Slugger Prime ONE -12 or the Easton Ghost X Evolution USSSA 2019?
Bryce Bartels
The Louisville Slugger Prime ONE 919 -12 USSSA Baseball Bat: WTLSLP119X12 is going to be lighter, by two ounces, when compared to the Marucci CAT 8 Composite -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: MSBCCP10 and the Easton Ghost X Evolution -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: SL19GXE108. All are good bats but the Prime ONE is best suited for someone around the ages of 6-10.
Cameron
What’s the difference between the 2019 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite and the 2019 Louisville Slugger Prime One?
Mr.Baseball
Both models are one-piece, composite designs that offer a very light -12 drop to them. The biggest difference will be that the Louisville Slugger Prime ONE is offered in more sizes than the Easton Ghost X Hyperlite at this time, and has Louisville's SBC endcap for improved control.
Kyle
What size do you recommend for a 9 year old who is 53" tall, and weighs 65 lbs?
Andy Mitchell
Per the player's height and weight, we would recommend getting the Louisville Slugger Prime ONE 919 -12 USSSA Baseball Bat: WTLSLP119X12 in a 29 inch model.
Cameron
My son is struggling at the plate with the CAT8 30 in. drop 10. Not sure if the bat has anything to do with it, but was thinking bat speed may be improved with this Louisville prime One. He plays 12 u baseball and is small for his age. Would you recommend this bat for a line drive hitter that is small for his age?
Darren
I think the Louisville Slugger Prime ONE 919 -12 USSSA Baseball Bat: WTLSLP119X12 will be slightly more balanced and lighter in weight both which could be beneficial. However, I also think getting a two-piece bat might help since it offers more flex in the barrel and can help with swing speed.
Tori
We have been looking at various -12 bats for our son who is 7 and is 4'6" and just over 70 lbs. After looking through them I am hoping you can tell me how a one piece composite, such as this bat, compare to a two piece composite, like the Rawlings Quatro Pro for example, in terms of performance, swing weight, feel, etc. Thank you in advance.
Jeff Pullam
One-piece bats like Louisville Slugger Prime ONE 919 -12 USSSA Baseball Bat: WTLSLP119X12 will have a little bit of a stiffer feel on contact. This can help create more power behind the ball. A two-piece bat like the Rawlings Quatro, will offer more flex in the swing which can help with swing speed. It can also help break up the vibration.
Tori
My son is 4’8” and around 87 lbs. U10 going into U11 come next season. What size would you recommend?
Ron
Per your son's height and weight, we would recommend getting the Louisville Slugger Prime ONE 919 -12 USSSA Baseball Bat: WTLSLP119X12 in a 29 inch 17 ounce size.
Cameron
What is the vibration of this bat compared to Marucci CAT 8?
Richard Bouris
The Louisville Slugger Prime ONE 919 -12 USSSA Baseball Bat: WTLSLP119X12 does not feature any vibration technology like the Marucci CAT 8 (AV2 knob reduces vibration on that bat). Thus, if a player does not square the ball up on the barrel they will feel vibration or stinging of the hands.
Cameron
I have a 9 year boy that is 50" tall and 45 lbs. He had a Rawlings Threat bat before but it stung his hands a lot. Is this a good bat for him or would you recommend the Cat 8?
David
Based on your player's height and weight, I would recommend a 28" bat. In regard to getting this 2019 Louisville Slugger Prime ONE 919 -12 USSSA Baseball Bat (WTLSLP119X12) or the Cat 8, you might have to decide if you prefer a -12 sized bat or a -10 sized bat. This bat will weigh 16 ounces at the 28" length. The Cat 8 will weigh 18 ounces at the 28" length. Both bats will perform well, it will just come down to deciding which weight will fit your player best.
Ben
I'm debating between this bat and the -10 Prime for a 10u kid who is 56" tall and roughly 75lbs. He is playing AA/AAA ball. Would you recommend the -10 bat?
Parent
A -10 is the much more common drop for a 10U player, but if the player can't handle a bat that heavy then the -12 would be better.
Kyle
How does this bat's barrel size length, where it tapers down, compare to the Marucci CAT 7?
Jared
It is hard to compare the barrel taper of the Louisville Slugger Prime ONE 919 -12 USSSA Baseball Bat: WTLSLP119X12 to that of the Marucci CAT 7. With that being said, one will most likely see a more gradual, or even barrel taper, on the CAT 7.
Cameron
For travel ball, does barrel size matter? Or as long as it has the USSSA cert stamp it can be used in all travel ball?
Patrick
Generally speaking, USSSA games and tournaments rarely have restrictions with regards to barrel diameter. The Louisville Slugger Prime ONE 919 -12 USSSA Baseball Bat: WTLSLP119X12 would be an excellent bat to consider to a USSSA player up to 10 years of age. It will feature a 2 3/4" barrel diameter which is the common barrel diameter a USSSA bat will feature in the -12 and -10 drop options.
Cameron
My grandson is 62 " tall and weighs 150. He is going in to 11u this spring Is this a good bat for him. what size do you recommend?
Mike nelson
Based on his height and weight, I would recommend a 32''. The Louisville Slugger Prime ONE 919 -12 USSSA Baseball Bat: WTLSLP119X12 is probably too light for him. I would recommend looking at a -10 like the Louisville Slugger Prime -10 USSSA Baseball Bat: WTLSLP9X1020.
Tori
Is this bat allowed in Little League (U10)? I believe only USA Baseball certified bats are allowed in LL while USSSA bats are not. Is this correct?
Sig
The Louisville Slugger Prime ONE 919 -12 USSSA Baseball Bat: WTLSLP119X12 is not allowed for use in Little League as only USA Baseball certified bats can be used.
Cameron
My son is 9 and currently uses a CAT 7 26 inch 16 oz bat. He plays travel ball in the spring and fall. Would this be a better bat for him? I’m thinking either the 28 inch or 29 inch.
Colt Lipsey
The Louisville Slugger Prime ONE 919 -12 USSSA Baseball Bat: WTLSLP119X12 is a good bat for a player 10 or younger. Since your son has been using a drop 10 bat previously, you may want to consider using a heavier bat.

About the Brand

In 1842, J. Frederick Hillerich emigrated with his family from Baden-Baden, Germany to the United States. Eight years before, the 1834 Book of Sports had made its debut as the nation's first publication covering baseball. But when he arrived in Baltimore, J. Frederick Hillerich would never have dreamed of the future impact his family would have on America's favorite pastime.

After a short while, the Hillerichs moved to Louisville, where J. Fred started a woodworking shop in 1856. Two of his sons, Adam and John Andrew "Bud" were born in the United States and would later join their father in his business. By 1864 "J.F. Hillerich, Job Turning" was in operation and filled orders for businesses by custom-turning everything from balusters to bedposts.

The firm thrived, and by 1875 the little woodworking shop employed about 20 people. In 1880 Bud Hillerich, who was an amateur baseball player, became an apprentice in his father's shop. Young Bud made his own baseball bats along with bats for several of his teammates.

The debate over the origins of the first bat continues to generate controversy among baseball enthusiasts, but the younger Hillerich was most certainly involved in getting his father's business involved with what would become the company's signature item. According to company legend, the first bat was turned by Bud for Pete "The Old Gladiator" Browning in 1884. Browning was a star on Louisville's professional American Association team - the Eclipse. On a spring afternoon Bud, then seventeen, witnessed Browning break his favorite bat. Bud offered to make a bat for his hero, and Browning accepted. After the young wood shop apprentice lathed a quality stick from white ash, according to the story, Browning got three hits with it in the next game.

Louisville Slugger gloves are worn by more pitchers in Major League Baseball than any other glove.
