It gives up very little in terms of pop. Jeff Harper parent

Pros: The pros are solid construction, the -11 is very evenly balanced and easy for him to grip. It has a great sweet spot, it swings and feels a lot like his Combat Maxim. The 2 5/8 Barrel dose seem huge, but you get use to it. With batting gloves my 8 year old dose not complain of any sting when hitting off the tip. He is hitting the ball as far with the Ghost X as he did with his Combat Maxim most of the time. I think the trampoline effect is over rated in youth bats and for me this bat proves that. This bat dose have a odd sound, a different tone than the Combat composite or wood but you can hear a foul ball tick off of it pretty well. No one has had this bat long enough to rate durability but Easton is a name you can depend on so for that I'll give it 5 stars.

Cons: My son changed the Hyper skin to Lizard Skin at purchase. It just feels better to him, he didn't like it on the Mako CXN either. I got him the 30 inch he is 4ft 4 and 65 pounds and chokes up about an inch so he can use it a couple years.

Great bat Roman's dad parent

Pros: This bat was bought for my 9 year old son who plays travel ball. We were replacing a Mako Torq (which doesnt meet the 2018 specs). At first the barrel seems a little too big, but my son is hitting great with it. It had a huge sweet spot and has more pop than expected. He has had little sting as well, even without gloves. Although I was upset that I was forced to buy a new bat, i am definitely happy with the purchase.

Cons: The bat has good pop, but it makes a flat/dead sound.

Great bat Joe parent

Pros: Nice feel. Sounds similar to wood just a little duller. Like the new standard. Should be much safer and more realistic to wood. Nice balance. Vibration not an issue.

Cons: Changed the grip to Lizard Skin. Aprox. 10 yard shorter difference from last years Beast.

Dont buy this bat Chad K. parent

Pros: None

Cons: My Nine year old son said it has a lot of sting to it. nearly only took 5 swings with it and 4 out of the 5 hits the bat stung his hand. Thought if I change the grip, cause the one that come with is thin and use batting gloves would help, but no help at all. I thought he was making it up, so i tried it and first swing it stung. I hit the ball squar and it still stung.

My son's bat. Dad parent

Pros: He say's it has a great feel to it when he swing's it. Almost no sting on good and bad hit's. It's well balanced (he has 1 new S750 it's a little bit more end weighted tho). More hit's. Bigger sweet spot. Perfect fit for my son.

Cons: Break in, not sure what that will be at. Should have a better handle wrap and a bat cover for the price you pay. A bit expensive for a kid's bat. (Still the best bat I could get him tho) Don't forget to order the bat cover to protect your investment. Gave this bat 2 star for durability cause we just got it but Easton makes good bats so I imagine it could be a 5 star if it last 2 seasons (From what I've read composite bats don't last more than 2yrs. on avg. besides he's going to out grow it in less than that time anyway)

Daddy Coach Daddy Coach player

Pros: Feels great in hands, off tee, soft toss, tennis balls. Looks nice. Is a true -11. No other positive feedback. Also, this is not a knock on easton. I have two boys and I coach. Purchased 4 different USA easton bats. Ghost X hyperlite for my 10 year old son who is about 70 lbs. Contact, gap, speed, type hitter who hits from the left side, but is right handed. Used Easton S500 -13 last season and loved it. But this is a 2018 USA bat comparison. There is also a chance it's a fluke defect. Also, easton has agreed to replace my Ghost Hyperlite with another Easton bat. Gonna go with the Beast X Hybrid. Tried it, good bat. Way too heavy right now- but could use mid season or next year. I compared the Ghost x hyperlite bat to the LS Solo 618 -11 over five hitting sessions. Two of the sessions had a hitter from each side of the plate. Also, the comparison took place after Easton Ghost X hyperlite was properly broken in.

Cons: "Holy Stingers Batman"- Please, keep in mind all single piece bats will sting a bit and my son plays primarily catcher so there's toughness there. The results were same with second hitter added. The sting was so bad it would drop him to his knees every 3-4 mishits. He would have to take a break. The LS 618 would sting sometimes, but much less. He referred to those stings as "normal stings" could shake his hands out and continue. "Fools Gold"-Don't be fooled by the big barrel. I found it to have a tiny sweet spot on a huge barrel. When squared up it traveled "maybe" slightly further than LS 618, but doen't square up as often. Also, Mishits go nowhere (after the sting). They knuckle, float, and quickly die out. This means fielders are making outs on those hits. (and batter in pain). It's like the oversized barrel absorbs the energy of the ball. In comparison, the ball really spins and darts with the LS 618 solo. More hits through infield. I would not recommend this bat.

Thanks Snowflakes Weston's Dad parent

Pros: My son hit it pretty well. He did complain about sting so, I left the factory wrap on and put a lizzard wrap over it and added a power pad...not a single sting after that, through several buckets of balls.

Cons: If youre looking for anything like the performance from bats of years past, temper your expectations because you will be dissappointed, regardless of what bat you choose.

new review after long break in period daddycoach parent

Pros: lots of contact, great feel, pop will inrease, vibration diminishes after long break in period. good line drive bat. the funny sound still there. sounds like hitting baseball with a guitar. but much better results now that its breaking in. Read below how to break in.

Cons: Price. Very long break in period. Not great in cool weather. I wrote a very critical review of this bat after after several sessions of what I thought was a good break in perod. I compared it to LS Solo 618. I was very dissapointed with the ghost x hyperlite. No pop and lots of stings. To be fair to easton and its product after several sessions with my ten year old I thought bat was broken in. I was wrong. I took it myself and hit over 100 baseballs off tee into net hard with 1/4 turn every time. it loosened bat up substantially. Son likes bat much more now. gets good contact with big barrel. Less stings but weather has been warmer. still has slightly less distance than LS Solo -11. But LS is a little heavier, and ghost x seems to be getting better. Slightly less misses and foul tips with ghost x bcz large barrel. changed my review and keeping bat in use for now.

Pros: Good feel, big barrel, lots of contact, lite. Good line drive bat. Be patient with break in period- read below how to quicken that process.

Cons: Very long break in period. After several sessions with my ten year old I thought bat was broken in. I was wrong. I than compared to LS Solo 618 and was very disappointed with ghost x. To be fair to Easton I wanted to make sure bat was broken in. I took it myself and hit over 100 baseballs hard off tee into net. It loosened bat substantially. He likes much more now wants to continue using it and has similar results to LS solo. Maybe slightly more distance at this time still with LS, but less misses and foul tips with larger barrel. Still a tough go in cooler weather, and $100 more than other -11 USA bats with similar results. Also, still sounds like hitting baseball with a guitar, but solid hits.

Pros: Great Balance and feel. Have a team of 7-8 year olds most have hit with the bat and all can swing and hit the ball good if hit in the sweet spot.

Cons: Kids who are not as far along in batting and miss more times than not will have the death vibrations in their hands. if your kid can make solid contact 80% of the time great bat for them. Expensive bat and at this price pay the extra and get the two piece.

So far so good... Nate coach

Pros: He likes the bat a lot, he's getting use to the 29/18 I went a little bigger in weight so he can use it a few years(he just turned 9). We've had 4-5 hitting sessions with it indoors and he's had little to no sting at all. Obviously not the same pop as his Combat but I think the difference is minimal.

Cons: I think the true test of this bat will come much later.

COMFORTABLE SWING is the key Yogi parent

Pros: Gone are the days of buying a hot bat and making your kid look like an all-star. On par with all other USA bats in terms of distance. My son is on the smaller side so I needed a bat he is comfortable swinging and this is it. Yeah it had some stingers on mishits but so did the other USA bats I've bought. I put a knobcuff on and it seems to have fixed the vibration issue when hitting off the end or handle.

Cons: $$$ for a made in china bat with a terrible grip, but if you need the lightest bat on the market without giving up barrel size this is your bat.

Terrible bat. NO Pop and severe hand sting Brian coach

Pros: NONE - DO NOT BUY.

Cons: Bought this bat thinking it would be one of the best of the 2018 USA bats. We were wrong. Ball dies off of the barrel and goes no where. We switched to a LS 618 solo and the same lazy drive that easily falls into second basemen's glove is now reaching the outfield. I have also heard from coaches of several other teams who are very dissatisfied with this bat and all the Easton Ghost bats. The hand sting is so bad my son was intentionally striking out. He was swinging and missing on purpose this bat was so bad. That should tell you something.

Cons: There is absolutely NO pop off this bat!!! overall excellent bat 4.5/5 retroclemson parent

Pros: My son is only 7, so we needed the lightest bat we could find. This is the lightest weight USA composite this year, believe me we tried them all. All alloy USA bats are at least 2 oz over swing weight, some 2.5. (USA 5150 27/16 weighs 18.6, DEMARINI VOODOO 28/18=20.4). Most all of the USA composite bats are 1.5-2 oz over listed weight. However this bat is only 1.2 oz over listed weight. 28/17 weighed exactly 18.2 oz) compared to pre USA composite bats which had longer breakin period, this bat is more ready to go. I do recommend changing to a lizard skin on all 1 piece bats for kids 8u. *****Heard of a guy who had this bat rolled and Shaven, after shave bat weighed exactly 17 oz, and was HOT AS FIRE. If you are looking for that sort of action, this bat is HOT!

Cons: Balanced bat with minimal end weight results in heavier rattle when hit off end of the bat.

Great Bat! Jesse player

Pros: This is a great bat! The break in period is short, the vibration is decent, and the pop is decent as well. The big barell maximizies the sweet spot. Great job Easton!

Cons: You'll probably wanna buy your own bar grip for this one, as Easton bat grips are not great

Worst bat I've ever bought my son. Travel & Little League Coach/Parent coach

Pros: ZERO.

Cons: Vibrates so bad that it has bruised my sons hands. ZERO pop in it. My son has started to refuse to use it, because it hurts his hands so bad. I've had other kids try using it and get the same complaints from them. Do not buy. Save your money.

Very Disappointed. Gave up and ordered a new bat Will coach

Pros: Since I'm feeling generous, maybe the sting wasn't bad for my son (though others seem to have different experience). Nothing and I mean nothing else, aside from maybe the looks of this bat when it is in the wrapper, is good.

Cons: - Swings slow => While lab tests may show the weight is near what is marked on the bat, something about it makes it feel heavy. - I can't prove it with science, but my eyes tell me that after 2000 hits (cage, games, practice, etc.) the composite is now absorbing energy at collision between the bat and ball further reducing the bats performance below USABat standards. Like its now actually deadening the ball. I swear rolled up cardboard would compare equally to this bat. Nearly the entire team has given up on the Ghost X and Hyperlite and switched to the Lousiville Slugger Solo 618. A bat half the price, but just flat out performs the Ghost in every way. I think to be first, Easton rushed the Ghost line to market and just beefed up the barrel to take away the trampoline effect, without fully considering the impact on "swing weight" (i.e., how it actually feels to swing) or how it will perform over time. Over hyped trash. Save your money.

Pros: It looks nice.

Cons: I have two boys. I have purchased at least 10 Easton bats over the past 7 years - all of them the top of the line. This bat without question has the least pop and the most vibration of any we have ever purchased. My 12 year old has the 31/21 and unless you hit it absolutely perfect the ball just dies. Other team members who have hit bombs in the past are getting the same result with this bat.

Overall poor bat David B coach

Pros: Well balanced and probably durable

Cons: When compared to other USSSA baseball bats this bat under performs. During ball contact the bat sounds like you hit it against an aluminum pole. There is no bounce, again this is understanding that most of the new standard bats also the same way and comparing apples to apples. After investing in this bat, my son moved to a wood bat as it performed better.

Like USA bats weren't bad enough.... Kristen Smith parent

Pros: I can't think of one. It's a drop 11? The general feel was ok?

Cons: I know what the mentality behind the new USA bats is. But this bat... OMG. Bought it for my son for Christmas. He goes to use it at the start of rec ball in February and it sounds like the ball is bouncing off a log. Couldn't hit a ball out of the infield (my son is 10 and a 3 years running all-star). Kept using it hoping that maybe it hadn't been broken in just in use at our house. Eww, no better. Ended up getting an Easton S550 for like $80 and it was 20x better (one went over the fence with that bad boy). Sold this one to the local sports resale store.

Pros: I had won this bat online and got it for free on a giveaway from Easton. I was very excited to use it. It takes a little bit to break in and pretty light. Had decent pop since it's a USA bat.

Cons: It has a lot of vibration. A few of my teammates have used my bat or have their own, and whenever we use our bat our has hurt from the stinging. Like when you first get the bat, that's when it stings the most. I wore batting gloves on both hands and had a somewhat thick wrap, but I would still feel the vibration. Also end cap can be broken when ball hit's it, but I'm pretty sure every Easton bats like that.

Pros: Skeptical that it could deliver any noticeable returns for the price tag even considering the insane discounts in this site. First thing you’ll notice is your kid stop making faces when hands sting or vibrate. Also notice bat speed and control, bat is well balanced and light. Easton Ghost X Hyperlite B.T. Parent

Pros: The bat feels good in my hands. I bought my son the 31/20 and he's 10 years old. The bat stung my son pretty bad on off hits. I read a lot of negative reviews about the stinging so we just went to the field again so I could try the bat myself to see what the fuss was all about. I played 3 years with Zack Greinke at Apopka High and was a 4 year varsity starter so I'm no bum. I had my son pitch to me and I was absolutely crushing the ball with this bat. Hitting it in the trees to right center field well over 300 ft. I hit about 10 balls total and not a single ball I hit stung my hands. The problem is kids are getting jammed or hitting it off the end of the bat so ofcourse there will be some sting if you do that. Hit it flush in the sweet spot like your supposed to and the bat feels amazing. The ball flies!

Cons: Don't get jammed or hit it off the end of the bat. Not better than the Easton Z-Core. I believe it came out in 1997 or 1998. That was the greatest bat ever made!!

Over Priced and Hyped Jonathan Evans Parent

Pros: It is a very durable bat. My 8yo has dinged it a few times on the concrete and hit hundreds of balls with it in a little over a year and it's held up very well. That's about the only great thing about it.

Cons: Stings extremely bad on miss hits. Despite it being a big barrel the bat has a very small sweet spot. No added distance to his good hits compared to his $60 Rawlings he used before. Sounds dead. Got a new LS Prime today and tried it out at the cages. He was crushing it and told me that he thinks hes a good hitter and his confidence was off the charts now that he's quit using the Ghost X Hyperlite. I knew I should have gotten him a different/better bat within the first month but didn't do it because I paid so much for it. DO NOT BUY. There are better bars out there for less money!

What is the difference between the Ghost X (-10) and the Ghost X Hyperlite (-12)?
Dave
This 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat (YBB18GXHL) will be a one-piece, all-composite bat with a -11 length-to-weight ratio. The 2018 Easton Ghost X -10 USA Baseball Bat (YBB18GX10) will differ as it is a two-piece, all-composite bat with a -10 length-to-weight ratio.
Ben
Will this bat need broken in? How do you suggest doing so?
Andy D
The 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GXHL is a one-piece composite bat and will benefit from a small break in before using. Hitting balls off a tee or soft toss would be the best way while rotating the bat to even the break-in across the entirety of the barrel. Amount of swings can vary but 100-150 would be a rough estimate.
Cameron
Which is the better bat, the Ghost X or Ghost X Hyperlite and why?
Ghost X
The bats differ in few areas. For instance, the 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat (YBB18GXHL) is a drop 11, one piece composite. The Ghost X is a drop 10, and two piece composite. The two piece allows the bat to flex more and reduces the sting from vibrations. Very similar bats but if you are looking for a lighter bat, the -11, the Ghost X Hyperlite would be a great bat.
Mick
I am looking for a good bat for my son. He plays 10U baseball in CT, and the fall season will be getting cold. Will the Ghost hold up or would you recommend another bat?
Nicky G
The 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat (YBB18GXHL) will hold up as well as any other composite bat. However, typically aluminum bats perform better in cold weather (weather 55 degrees and below).
Mick
Will this be similar to a COMBAT?
Clay
The 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GXHL is a one-piece all composite model. Would not say this bat is similar to a COMBAT but it will be very balanced.
Cameron
My son is 11 , 5'1" tall and weighs 125. He has always used the Mako XL -10, 30"/20 oz. What size Ghost bat would be best? He plays majors and travel all stars.
Casey
We would recommend a 31" length of bat for his height and weight. We can't really recommend a weight for the bat however because there are too many factors at play that we don't know. Things such as swing efficiency, strength, whether they choke up or not, and other factors all play into that. If he is comfortable with a -10, then you could stick with that drop.
Kyle J.
Is this bat legal for USSSA tournaments?
Mike
Yes, the 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat (YBB18GXHL) is approved for play in both USSSA and USA divisions.
John
Will this bat come in a 29?"
Ben
The 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GXHL will be available in 29" and will be live on the site once we have that size in stock.
Logan
What's the benefit of two-piece verses one-piece bats?
Ben
One-piece bats, such as the 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GXHL, are stiffer in comparison to a two-piece bat and will offer less flex during a player"s swing which allows for more power transferred from the player. Two-piece bats will offer more flex during a player"s swing. This causes a whip-like action through the swing zone and results in more inertia and power. These bats tend to be geared more towards a contact hitter or a hitter that could use assistance in improving bat speed. Because the handle is separate from the barrel, two-piece bats tend to help mitigate felt vibration on mishit balls.
Logan
Can the new USA bats be used in 2017 fall leagues? Especially concerned about the ones with a 2 5/8" barrel size.
Steve
To our knowledge the 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GXHL can be used in fall leagues. Always best to check with local coaches or league officials for confirmation though.
Cameron
Is there much of a difference, performance wise, between the 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite USA Baseball Bat and the Easton Beast X USA Baseball Bat? Also, which one of these bats has a more balanced feel?
John T
The performance depends on what kind of player you are. The Beast X is end loaded and is designed for power hitters. The 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat (YBB18GXHL) is balanced. Due to this, the Beast X will perform better if you are a power hitter where the YBB18GXHL will perform better if you're a contact hitter.
Mick
My son is 6 years old, 46" tall and plays coach pitch. Is the 27"/16 oz size good for him or are they going to come out with smaller bats that don't say tee ball?
H
To get a USA Baseball bat that is not a teeball model, you will have to go with the 27" length (everything that has a 26" length and USA Baseball stamp will be a teeball bat). Because of that, I would recommend looking for a bat in the 27"/16 oz size for a smaller 6 year old that is playing coach pitch.
Ben
Why does this bat not have the USSSA 1.15 BPF decal? Does it meet the same standards and if so how can I show this?
Coach D
The 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat (YBB18GXHL) has the USA decal on it. Due to this, it is legal for USSSA. A USA bat can be used in USSSA. If someone asks for proof, show them that decal on the bat.
Mick
My son is about 3"8'-4" and weighs about 42 lbs. Would this bat in 27' 16 oz be good for him?
OBaseball
It is suggested that he uses a 26" bat. However, if your player feels comfortable going to a 27", that would be perfectly fine. The weight is correct at the drop 12. The 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat (YBB18GXHL) is a great bat due to it being very well balanced.
Mick
I want my son to have a balanced bat that can be swung with speed (and the advantage of a big barrel). He is using the Easton S3 (28"/15 oz). Should I get this bat or the Rawlings Quatro?
sean
This 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat (YBB18GXHL) will come with a balanced feel and can be swung very quickly by a player. Overall, if your player is playing coach or kid pitch, I would recommend this Ghost X Hyperlite (-11) over the 2018 Rawlings Quatro -11 USA Tee Ball Bat (TB8Q11) as the Ghost X Hyperlite is meant to hit thrown balls. The Rawlings Quatro -11 is only meant to hit stationary balls off a tee.
Ben
(1) What is the difference between this bat and the -11 Velo? (2) Which bat has the most balance swing weight?
steven
(1) This 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat (YBB18GXHL) will differ from the 2018 Rawlings VELO -11 USA Baseball Bat (US8V11) as the HYperlite is made of composite material and the VELO is made mostly of alloy material [with the exception of a composite end-cap]. (2) The VELO (US8V1) will probably be the more balanced feeling bat. Typically, when you top off an alloy bat with a composite end-cap, it makes the bat feel very light and balanced.
Ben
My 8 year old is 4' 7" about 75 pounds. I was wondering what size bat would be ideal for him. He has been swinging a 27in 16oz.
JGuillory
I would suggest a 29 inch bat for your player.
Dan
My son is 9 and plays Dixie Youth and travel ball. He is currently swinging the 2016 green and black Mako 27/17 2 3/4. He swings it well. I was looking at getting the 2018 Hyperlite. Probably the 28/17. Would you recommend this bat? If so which size? I noticed that the Ghost X starts at 29/19 and I was thinking that would be a pretty big jump. Good feedback would be help.
Dean
I would recommend staying with a -10 if your player is currently swinging one now with the option of moving up in weight. I would also recommend a 28 or 29 inch bat for your player.
Dan
Isn't one of the benefits of a composite bat to generate more pop and cause a "trampoline effect" once broken in? With the new USA Baseball specifications, has this effect been engineered out of composite bats making them more like alloy and/or wood bats?
Dave
Yes, composite bats once broken in will create some what of a trampoline effect. The USA Baseball stamp will make it perform closer to how a BBCOR bat would perform. Typically this is compared to the performance of wood bats.
Dan
Does this bat need to be broken in last previous composites?
Marc Geissel
The 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GXHL will need a break in period, about 100 swings would do the trick.
Max
My son has been using a 30" drop 12 bat with a 1" choke up spacer for the last two seasons, he is 5' tall and 98 lbs. Do you think the new bats at a 30" & 20 oz weight will be too heavy for him? He just turned 10 yrs. old.
AJ
Someone of his height and weight typically use a 30" bat. The added weight may cause him to have a slower swing in the beginning. But a 10 year old usually swings a drop 10. Its natural to have a slower swing when adjusting to a new weight. Your player should be fine after a couple visits to the cage as he will get more comfortable with the weight.
Mick
Are these bats legal for USSSA and GrandSlam Events?
Ball Dad
The 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GXHL is legal for USSSA and GrandSlam events.
Cameron
My son is approaching his last year of Little League - league age 12. He is 105 lbs and 5'3". What size bat would you recommend him swinging next spring?
Josh
Based on his height and weight, we would recommend getting the 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GXHL in a 31 inch model.
Cameron
My son 10 and is aging up to Pony Bronco instead of getting another year of Mustang. He is 55 inches tall and weighs 68 pounds. I think he needs bat speed next year to match the bigger kids. What do you recommend?
Mel
Based on your player's height and weight, I would suggest a 29" 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GXHL.
Logan
My son is going to be 11 in Jan. 2018. He is approximately 5' and 100 lbs. Would a 30-19 be the correct size?
Lo
Based on your player's height and weight, I would a 30" 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GXHL would be the correct size, as long as the weight is right for your player. For that, you or a coach would be better to answer as far as which weight to go with.
Logan
My son just turned 9 years old. He is 4'5" and weighs about 70 lbs. With the new standards, we need to buy him a new bat. What bat would you recommend for him?
Jrod
Based upon your player's height and weight, I would make a general recommendation of getting this 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat (YBB18GXHL) in the 29"/18 oz size. As long as you think your player will enjoy the one-piece, all-composite build and can handle the 18 oz weight; I believe that this bat would suit him extremely well in the size suggested.
Ben
My son had success with a 28 in 15 oz 2 1/4 S500 speed brigade last season. I hesitate to go with heavy bats as he is right handed but bats from left side. He is about 4'5 and 65 lbs. Would you recommend the Ghost X hyperlite in a 28/18 or a 29/19?
drock
I would recommend a 29 inch bat for this player. The 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GXHL would be a 29/18 and would be a good option.
Dan
Can you compare the Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat to the 2018 Louisville Slugger Solo 618 -11 USA Baseball Bat.
luke
The 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GXHL is a one piece fully composite bat, so it will offer a little longer barrel for a larger sweet spot. The 2018 Louisville Slugger Solo 618 -11 USA Baseball Bat: WTLUBS618B11 features a one piece alloy construction, and the lightweight composite end cap enables the Solo to be a little lighter swinging bat.
Logan
My son is 12 at about 5 ft 105 lbs. Would the ghost 31 drop 11 be best for him?
Brian C
The 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GXHL would be better suited for a younger player. We would recommend the 2018 Easton Ghost X -10 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GX10 for a player that is 12.
Cameron
My son is 10 and 5' tall and 112 pounds, which bat? He was using a 2016 DeMarini Voodoo Raw 30/17. He likes that it was end loaded. I am worried about the weight of the 31".
Bubba
The 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GXHL would be a great option to get for someone that is 10 years old. This bat features a balanced swing weight and is very true to the listed weight (about 0.5 ounce heavier). For someone of your player's height and weight, a 30 or 31 inch bat would work the best.
Cameron
Other than the extra drop oz, how does this bat really compare to the regular Ghost version? Is there any disadvantage to the one piece rather than the two piece Ghost? Does one provide more power over the other?
Coach G
The main difference between the 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GXHL and the 2018 Easton Ghost X -10 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GX10, besides the 1 ounce difference, is the one-piece versus two-piece design. The inherent advantage of the two-piece bat is the vibration reduction from an off-centered hit. Assuming a player can swing both bats at the same bat speed then the -10 Ghost X would offer more power as there is more weight a player can throw into the ball.
Cameron
My son is 8, 4"7' and is 86 lbs. He uses a 28 inch 16 oz bat now. We are looking at the Ghost X Hyperlite. He plays on a U10 travel ball team.
aimee
Yes so this would be a very good bat for your son because it is a very high performing bat. The only thing with this bat is that it doesn't come in the 28 inch 16 ounce size that you were looking for. It comes in a 28 inch 17 ounce which will just be one ounce heavier.
Cade
My son is 46" 43 lbs and we must use the new USA bats. In your opinion which bat, which brand of bat, and weight should we go with?
lil e
Based on your sons height and weight we would recommend the 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GXHL in a 27"/16 ounce size.
Carter
This says it is a "USA" bat but when I go to the littleleague.org website with the list of approved bats, it isn't on the list of approved bats.
phreaux
The 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat (YBB18GXHL) contains the USA stamp on it. That is how others know that the bat is legal.
Mick
Is the USA stamp the same as a BPF 1.15?
JB
The USA stamp is not the same as the BPF 1.15 USSSA stamp. The 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GXHL will perform at lower capabilities when compared to a USSSA 1.15 BPF counterpart as the USA Baseball bats are designed with thicker barrel walls.
Cameron
My son is 7 years old. Swings a 28"/16 oz Combat. We need a USA bat now. The player is 4"3' and 56 lbs (tall and thin). Which would you recommend and what size?
top speed
The 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GXHL would be the most comparable option to the Combat he is use to. I would suggest the 28" 17 ounce size.
Logan
For an 8 year old, 4'3" and 71 pounds, what length and drop would you recommend? Would this be a good bat for him?
baseball mom
The 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat (YBB18GXHL) would be a great bat for your 8 year old. As for the recommended size, I would suggest a 28in. 17oz. bat.
Tyler
Wondering what is the actual weight of the Ghost X (-11) bat in 28" length?
Brandon
If you were to get a 28"/17 oz model of this 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat (YBB18GXHL) and were to place it on a scale, the weight that will register will be approximately 0.5 oz to 1.5 oz over the listed amount.
Ben
Comparing the Louisville Solo 618 to the Easton Ghost X Hyperlite. Which bat has a longer barrel? Which bat would have a lighter swing weight?
Tim
Both of these bats are quite similar. They each have a balanced weight which will feel lighter than the other market end-loaded bats. As for barrel size, the 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat (YBB18GXHL) implements the X-Tended barrel design to create a large sweet spot on the barrel.
Tyler
My grandson is 4 feet 6 inches tall and 110 pounds and just turned 9. I bought him a 5150 at 30/19 but he always uses 2 bats. What size Ghost would be best for a slump breaking bat?
K C
Based on your grandson's height and weight, as well as the other bat he currently has, we would recommend getting the 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GXHL in a 30 inch 19 ounce model as well.
Cameron
My son is looking for a composite USA stamped bat. He is 74 lbs, good bat speed, had a Mako 28 inch, wants a lightweight bat if possible. What do you recommend?
Rob
Based on what you have told us about your son we would recommend a 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GXHL in a 29"/18 ounce size.
Carter
Which Ghost X bat has a longer barrel in the 30 inch size, the Hyperlite drop 11 or the drop 10 model?
Joe
The Ghost X -10 has a longer barrel. Its not a major difference roughly 1/4 inch.
Mick
My son is 11, weighs 82 lbs and plays Little League. He needs a USA stamped bat. He is use to swinging a lighter bat and had a -13 DeMarini Raw (30"/17 oz). I am hesitant to go with a heavier bat. Can you a recommend a bat that he can use for the next couple of years that he won't outgrow and that won't be too heavy?
Kidd
For most 11 year old players, we are recommending a 30" bat. Since we will not have any 2 5/8", USA Bats that are lighter than -11; I would suggest getting a 30"/19 oz bat for him. I think this 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat (YBB18GXHL) would be an excellent selection in the 30"/19 oz size. If you wanted something a little longer and heavier to help as he grows, you could look to the 31"/20 oz size.
Ben
My son is 9 yrs old, 5"2, 110 lbs. What is best size for him?
babooshka
Based on your son's height and weight, we would recommend getting the 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GXHL in a 31 inch model.
Cameron
My grandson is 12. He is 5' tall about 100 pounds. What size bat would you recommend for him?
charlie
Based on your players height and weight, we suggest a 30" model of the 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GXHL.
Jason
My grandson is 5'5" and over 110 lbs. What size bat do you recommend for him?
Sharon Ruhe
I would recommend going with a 31'' 21 oz. The 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GXHL would be a oz lighter than suggested.
Max
I am looking at this bat for my 11 yr old. He is 100 lbs and I want as light a bat as possible as he is moving up to a league that the pitching is faster so I want him to have as much bat speed as possible. Is this a good bat and do I want a lighter bat as far as ounces or the -11 or -12, etc?
Andrew
The 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GXHL would be a good option to consider for an 11 year old who struggles with bat speed against faster pitching. The great thing about the 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GXHL is the fact it will be one of the more balanced USA bats on the market.
Cameron
Last year was my son's first year playing kid pitch in Cal Ripken. He had a Rawlings Plasma 29" and struggled greatly with bat sting. The bat also felt a lot heavier than his friend's bats so he sometimes struggled getting it around. We want to invest in a bat that he can get around easily but also are concerned about bat sting. For these reasons we are torn between the Ghost X and the Hyperlite. Thoughts?
vdog
Both are good options. I would most likely recommend the 2018 Easton Ghost X -10 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GX10 as it is still extremely light but the two piece design will greatly reduce vibrations.
Carter
I am looking to get a new 2018 compliant bat for my 10 yo. He's 4'11 90lbs. We looked at the 31/20 ghost x -11 for him. I thought the ghost x hyperlight seemed more balanced than the -10 2 piece version. Do you think there is a huge competitive difference between those two aside from vibration?
dmac
I always recommend that if your player is able to handle the weight, that they go ahead and swing the lowest drop weight possible (a heavier bat if the length remains consistent.) So aside from that the two-piece bat will certainly limit the vibrations felt on poorly struck balls. Overall the 31"/20oz. 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GXHL would be a quality bat for your son to use.
Tyler
My son will be 11 in spring. He is 4"11' and 110 lbs. I saw something that said the Hyperlite was better if the player is a "contact hitter" and the Beast X is better if the player is a "power hitter". He usually hits a few homeruns during the season. How do I know if he is a contact or power hitter?
baseball mom
I would comment that if he typically hits a few homers each year, he is probably a power hitter and would be ready to use a bat with a -10 length-to-weight ratio over a bat like this 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat (YBB18GXHL) with a -11 length-to-weight ratio. Based on his height and weight, I think you could consider a 30" length bat. My recommendation would be to consider the 2018 Easton Beast X -10 USA Baseball Bat (YBB18BX10) in the 30"/20 oz size.
Ben
What is the real advantage in buying a $280 bat over many other cheaper options of same size and weight? It seems even the cheapest bats are described as "balanced", "good pop", "low vibration", "durable". These seem like just buzz words for sales pitches, and don't have any real meaning or scale.
Mike
A more expensive bat like the 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GXHL is due to the fact it is a composite bat. The "cheaper" options will always be the one-piece alloy bats as these are the easier bats to make that require less raw materials to construct. The advantage that the 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GXHL offers over the cheaper alloy models is the balanced feel and swing weight; this composite bat will offer a more true listed weight at roughly 0.5 ounces heavier. Two-piece bats will offer better vibration reduction from off-centered hits due to the flex they offered on impact. At this time we have not seen anything that suggests there is a higher performing USA bat on the market and we would anticipate better durability across all makes and models due to the thicker barrel wall design.
Cameron
Is this bat right for my 11 year old?
LL24
The 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GXHL could be a good choice for an 11 year old player needing to use a USA approved bat. The correct length to weight ratio will ultimately depend on his strength and how well he is handling his current bat.
Cameron
My son is 11 years old and will be 12 in June, 5 ft and 100 lbs. He is not a power hitter yet and is still working on proper mechanics and contact. Would the 31 inch be a good fit for him?
LL24
I would recommend the 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GXHL in a 30 inch bat for a player 5 foot and 100 pounds.
Dan
My son is 9 years old and 95 lbs. However, he has slow hands. He was using a 29"/18 oz. What size do you recommend?
gman hitter
Based on your player's 9 year old age, I would recommend sticking with the 29" length or moving to a 30" length if you want something longer. To get another one-piece, all-composite bat like your Catalyst; I would recommend looking to this 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat (YBB18GXHL) in the 29"/18 oz size -or- the 30"/19 oz size.
Ben
I have an 11 year old grandson who is 4'4" and 63 lbs. Good, hard swinger, been playing baseball all his young life. Out hits players taller and bigger than him. Looking at the Ghost X Hyperlite. What size should I buy him with the idea that he may hit a growth spurt?
Jesse
I would recommend the 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GXHL in a 28 inch bat length for a player that is 4'4" and 63 pounds.
Dan
Does this meet the 2018 Little League rules? We bought a TORQ last year and were told we would have to change for 2018.
Buddy
Yes, the 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat (YBB18GXHL) will be approved for Little League play in 2018.
Tyler
My son is 11 year old. He is currently using a easton Typhoon 30 in 19 0z bat. If reading the Q&A correct the new bat standards are heavier. Do you recommend going down on oz?
Rebeca
I would recommend going with a 31'' 20 in the 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GXHL, the light weight feel of the Hyperlite will be a good fit for your 11 year old.
Max
How many swings does it take to break the bat in?
nbk
I would recommend around 75 hits on the 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GXHL to break in thoroughly.
Max
I usually use a drop 10 bat and this bat is a drop 11. Could that have any affect on my swing or how far the ball will go?
matty ice
If you are using a -10 bat and performing well, then going with a lighter -11 bat like this 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat (YBB18GXHL) in the same length may decrease the distance in which you hit the ball. The -11 size of bat will have less mass to it and when you connect with the ball, you will be putting less force into the ball. The lower force being put into the ball will result in less distance on the ball.
Ben
My son is just turning 12 and is 4'10" weighing about 100 lbs. Last year he used the Mako 31" and 20 oz and struggled with his hitting. I am thinking he may be better off with a 30 inch/19 oz bat? Is this accurate?
JC
Based off the information you have provided, I would recommend swinging a 30 inch bat. The 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GXHL in a 30/19 would be a good option. You could also take a look at the 2018 Easton Ghost X -10 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GX10 in a 30/20 if you would like the extra ounce.
Dan
My son is 10 years old and is 5'4" 70 lbs. Last year he used the MAKO 29'-10, which size Ghost X Hyperlite do you recommend?
Rf
Based on his height and weight, we suggest a 31" bat. However, if you feel like that is a big jump, moving to a 30" would be perfectly acceptable as well. This is a suggestion based on his height and weight but the player should swing what he is most comfortable with.
Mick
Is a 27/16 going to weigh 16 oz or will it weigh more?
wade
Typically, baseball bats get weighed prior to the manufacturing process. I tend to see bats weighing one to two ounces heavier once that process is complete and the bat is ready for sale. The 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GXHL in a 27 inches and 16 ounces will most likely weigh closer to 17 ounces.
Dan
Should the Hyperlite be used in cold whether? If not, what is the temperature that you should avoid using this bat?
AJ
It's really not ideal to use any bat in temperatures below 60 degrees, so I would just recommend limiting the use of the 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GXHL in those temperatures as much as possible.
Logan
My son is 8 years old, and weighs around 65 lbs. What size bat is recommended?
KKE
Based on your son's age, I would generally recommend getting this 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat (YBB18GXHL) in the 28"/17 oz. size. If your player is 4'5" or taller though, I think you would be safe to move up to the 29"/18 oz. size.
Taylor
Would you recommend a 26" or 27" for a 6 year old who weighs 50 lbs and plays coach pitch?
Beth
Given your player's specifications, I would recommend a 26"/17oz. 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GXHL
Tyler
Some reviews are saying no sting and some are saying it has a lot of sting when hitting with this bat. Could you give some more clarification as to why this maybe an issue? Have there been any other issues with this bat?
Danny
The 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GXHL features new type of composite that is designed to help with vibration reduction. However, new USA certified bats have thicker barrel walls which is resulting in players needing to square up the baseball even more to reduce the sting.
Dan
Any way to get a 26/15 in this bat?
BILLY BASEBALL
Unfortunately, the smallest option for the 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GXHL is 27" 16 oz.
Logan
My son plays USSSA but this only has a USA stamp. He also plays Cal Ripken. Will this bat be allowed in USSSA and Cal Ripken? Also, he's 56 to 57" and weighs just over 70 pounds. Is the the 30", -11 the right size for him (also looking at the Ghost X Hyperlite -12 (30", -12)? If he went with the Ghost X Hyperlite -12, how would the two bats compare? Any advice would be appreciated.
Jeramie Sponsel
The 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GXHL could be used in both USSSA and USA leagues such as Cal Ripken. USSSA will allow USA bats in their games but Cal Ripken will only allow USA stamped bats. Based on your player's height and weight, we would recommend a 29 inch bat. Comparing this bat to the 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -12 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL18GXHL12 one will see a few noticeable differences. Those would be weight (one ounce difference between the two), certification (the Ghost X Hyperlite -12 features USSSA certification and thus illegal for use in Cal Ripken) and barrel diameter (USA bats are maxed out at 2 5/8"). As well, due to the thinner barrel wall design of USSSA models one will get better performance from the 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -12 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL18GXHL12.
Cameron
What do the arrows mean on the bat? Is it pointing towards where the ball should hit the bat?
Felisha
We would not know the significance of the arrows on the 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GXHL. Based on where these arrows are at it would be ideal to square the ball up around this area for better performance capabilities.
Cameron
How does this bat compare to the 2018 Louisville Slugger Solo 618 -11?
Hank
The main difference between the two is that the Easton Ghost X Hyperlite is a composite design while the Louisville Slugger Solo 618 is an aluminum design. This means the Easton model requires a break-in period before game use while the Louisville will not. Performance wise both bats should be fairly similar due to the strict nature of the USA bat regulations.
Kyle J.
Why do you have to warm up with the Easton Ghost X before you use it in a game?
Mad Max
Composite bats require a break-in period before game use in order to loosen up the carbon fiber materials that make up the bat. Taking a bat straight to the game has a very high risk of causing durability issues since the carbon fibers have not been loosened up at all, making the chance of cracking/breaking much higher.
Kyle J.
What's the difference between the ghost x and the ghost x hyperlite ?
little bud
The main difference between the 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GXHL and the 2018 Easton Ghost X -10 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GX10 is that the Hyperlite is a one-piece composite bat while the Ghost X is a two-piece composite bat. Furthermore, The Hyperlite is only offered in -13, -12, and -11 sizes while the Ghost X is available in -10, -8, and -5 sizes.
Tyler
My son, who just turned 9, plays for a very competitive travel team. He is 4'10.5" tall and about 97 lbs. He currently uses an Easton S3 30" -13 2.25" barrel aluminum bat, with which he hits quite well. What is your recommendation for a USA compliant replacement?
Super Speed
Considering your player's specifications and previous bat, I would recommend a 30" 20oz. 2018 Easton Beast X -10 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18BX10. The Beast X will still provide the same alloy barrel with a balanced swing weight. This 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GXHL is another option for you. The Ghost X Hyperlite is a one-piece composite bat and should cut-down on some of the vibrations on contact.
Tyler
I need to purchase a USA compliant bat for my 6 year old. He is playing machine pitch. I would like a big barrel. What is you recommendation?
Katie
The 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GXHL would offer the smallest option, which is what I would suggest for your player. The 27" 16 oz. 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GXHL should work well for your player.
Logan
What is the actual weight of this bat?
dziym
These 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bats (YBB18GXHL) have consistently weighed 2 oz over the listed weight. If you were to purchase any size of this bat, I would expect the actual weight the registered on a scale to be at least 2 oz over the listed amount.
Ben
My son is an average hitter. Always had a 2-1/4 barrel but always ended up using a bigger barrel on the team. With the new bat requirements we are looking into getting him a 2-5/8 barrel however not sure what option would be the best. He is roughly 4'2" and probably 55-60 lbs.
Zs mom
Based on your son's height and weight we would recommend a 28"/17 ounce 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GXHL for his first big barrel bat.
Carter
Was looking at this bat that my friend bought his kids, and he had the same bat that was YAA18GXHL. Is there a difference? Also, are you going to be getting in more of the 30/19?
Eric
The 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GXHL is a one-piece bat. The other Ghost X that you are referring to is a two-piece bat. The one-piece bat will have a stiffer feel.
Tori
Does this bat come in a 2 piece? I heard that cuts down on the vibration. Also what is the return policy on your bats? Could my son try it out for a few days to see if he likes it?
Michael
The 2018 Easton Ghost X -10 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GX10 is going to be the two piece version of this 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GXHL. And no, unfortunately this bat has no trial period on it and once it has been used we are not going to be able to take it back.
Carter
Is this the style bat that the Cal Ripken rules have went to? Are all the new style bats 2 5/8?
Josh
Cal Ripken requires the use of a USA model like the 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GXHL. As for USA bats, the vast majority will feature 2 5/8" barrel diameters. There are some models that will have the 2 1/4" barrel still in the USA standard.
Cameron
My son is about 4" 5' and 65 pounds. He swings a Mako 30"/19 oz (-11) with a choke up grip. Would you recommend this bat in a 30" with a choke up grip as well? I don't want to buy an expensive bat for him to outgrow it. He just turned 11 if that helps.
mlaw
Based on your son's height and weight, I think he would be comfortable with either a 29" or a 30" bat. I would recommend purchasing this 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat (YBB18GXHL) in the 30"/19 oz size so that he has room to grow. As you mentioned, if it is too long this season, your son can choke up on the bat.
Taylor
My son is 4 foot 9 inches 90lbs. Fairly strong, 9 years old. He used a 27 inch 15 oz last year. I don't want to buy a $300 bat every year. Any ideas?
scott
I would recommend moving up to a 28" or 29" bat. A popular and more affordable option is the 2018 Easton Beast X -10 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18BX10. This is a one-piece, all alloy bat that features an X-Tended barrel design with Z-CORE technology for a massive sweet spot.
Dan
My son is 11 (league age 12) and entering his last year of Little League. I just bought the Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11, but now I'm hearing that there's quite a bit of vibration. He's had the Easton 2 piece bats in the past and liked them well enough, but I didn't find any at Dick's Sporting Goods. Should I be looking to spend more and get a two piece?
Devin
If you're concerned with vibration, the only way to alleviate that would be with a two piece bat, such as the 2018 Easton Ghost X -10 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GX10 or the slightly end loaded 2018 Easton Beast X Hybrid -10 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18BXH10.
Logan
What is the barrel size of the hyperlite? Am I correct in assuming it is a 2 5/8"?
Thomas
The barrel size of this 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GXHL is 2 5/8" and will be approved for USA sanctioned baseball.
Tyler
Does this bat come in 2 1/4" barrel?
Kelly
The 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GXHL is only offered with a 2 5/8" barrel diameter.
Logan
Would changing the grip to lizard skin help that much with the sting/vibration?
Diamondback
If you replaced the grip on the 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GXHL with any type of thicker grip it could definitely help with vibrations.
Carter
My son is 8 and he's about 3"9" and weighs about 60 pounds. Would this bat be good for him or what would you recommend?
Andrew
Yes, the 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GXHL would be a great option for your son. We would recommend a 27"/16 ounce for him.
Carter
What is the difference in this bat compared to the Easton Ghost-10 model ybb18gx10?
mike
The 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GXHL features a one piece composite design while the 2018 Easton Ghost X -10 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GX10 is a two piece design. The Hyperlite is also one ounce lighter than the two piece Ghost X.
Carter
What impact does the cold weather have on sting from these bats? My son is swinging a 28" version and we went out in about 50 degrees and he has refused to swing the bat since because of how much it hurt. He seems to suffer most when hitting at the end of the barrel. It seems that this bat is not designed well for the price since my son has always hit well without sting in the past. Any thoughts? Should we wait out the cool weather?
Shakes
We've heard that the 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GXHL does vibrate quite a bit due to the one piece construction. The cold weather and hitting off the end are also things that would amplify those vibrations. We've actually heard that after quite a bit of use, the composite fibers loosen up and the vibrations dampens over time.
Logan
I have twins that just turned 8. They each weigh about 52LBS. I had bought an Easton S450 27" with 2 1/4" barrel. However, there is absolutely no pop with that bat and it has a lot of vibration. I have noticed that the 2 5/8" barrel bats seem to have more pop. Would you recommend this bat in 27" length for my twins?
MM
The 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GXHL is a one piece composite bat. Composite bats do require a break in process before you see its true performance. This process can take about 150-200 swings off a tee rotating the bat every 10 swings. Alloy bats on the other hand, do come out of the box game ready which helps explain the difference you are seeing. A 27" bat would be a good choice for 7-8 year old players.
Daveron
I am undecided on which size is best for my twin 8 year olds. They are both 4 feet even and 52 lbs. Should I go with the 27" or the 28"? I am concerned the 28" may be a little to big as they have been used to swinging bats with the 2 1/4 barrel. The 2 5/8 barrel would be new to them.
MM
Based on your players' sizes, I would recommend that they each swing the 27" option of the 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GXHL.
Tyler
Can this bat be used in drills with total control balls?
C's mom
We would not recommend using your bat with any sort of weighted ball, as the bat was not designed with weighted balls in mind.
Kyle J.
Is this bat still approved for play?
MIKE
Yes, the 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GXHL is still legal in all leagues that allow the USA certification.
Tori
I'm looking at the Easton 18 ghost x or ghost x hyperlite. What is the difference?
Jeremy
The main differences between the Ghost X and the 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GXHL are that the Hyperlite will be a one-piece composite bat instead of the multi-piece construction of the Ghost. Also, the Hyperlite models will be a lighter drop weight than the Ghost X bats.
Tyler

We don't recommend using the 2018 Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GXHL or any composite bat below 55 degrees.
Tori
Looking for a 27'' 16 oz that has the USA stamp on them?
Bill
The Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GXHL would be a great option for a 27'' 16 oz for a bat with a USA stamp model. The balanced swing weight of the Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GXHL will give the player a light weight swing great for a younger player.
Max
Is this bat "new"? Is there any downsides to getting a bat from 2018 over a 2019 model?
Matt
Yes, the Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GXHL will be a new bat that has ever been used. There will be no real advantage between one year compared to another. I would point out that 2018 was the season USA bats went into circulation so one would be led to believe that manufacturers will get smarter and newer models will be more consistent in their performance. We are waiting to see if that is truly the case or not though.
Tyler
What leagues can this bat be used in?
Dale
The Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat (YBB18GXHL) will feature the USA certification and can be used in the following leagues: AABC, Babe Ruth, Cal Ripken, Dixie Youth, Little League and Pony.
Taylor
Can this bat be used in IESA JR High Baseball?
TC
The Easton Ghost X Hyperlite -11 USA Baseball Bat: YBB18GXHL would be legal as long as the bat being used is 30 inches or less. With that said, for someone in JR High a heavier bat would be better.

Get your confidence back! Danny Parent

Pros: I have gone through several bats since the rule change to USA bats. And this bat by far has done just that, give back his confidence. He lost 20 to 30 feet on most of his hits until I got this bat and now he is back to hitting balls to the fence again.

Cons: I spent way to much money on other bats and got zero results, wish I had just bought this one first.

Excellent bat. James Crawford Parent

Pros: 12 year old grandson loves this bat. One of the best bats of the maligned USA category. Coach didn't dent bat after smashing a ball to center field. Coach said he liked the bat. Bat had the best pop sound compared to the other bats at practice. Grandson consistently hit the ball further compared to the other hitters at practice. Would highly recommend this bat for USA play.

Great bat for the price Tom Coach

Pros: My 8u loves this bat. Pop is above average and he's never complained about vibration. Other kids on the team ended up either borrowing the bat or actually buying it halfway through the season

Cons: Grip started peeling a little at the end of the season, but not a big deal

Great Bat Ron S Coach

Pros: I purchased this bat for my 9 year old in December last year. I normallly purchase all our bats from Justbats, but when the changes came I purchased a forty dollar bat from Big 5. That bat lasted through a few practices and ended up getting dented at the cages. So I started doing my own research, calling other coaches, trainers, etc for their advice and got no where. I then researched the 5150 Rawlings and rolled the dice. This bat is well worth the price. I highly recommend it. This bat has pop and you can hear it when a ball is hit. My son was crushing the ball last season, he hit one over the fence and many shots hit the fence. The reason I chose Rawlings was the quality of their bats and prior purchases before the USA bat changes.

Cons: Other players wanting to use it.

Tyler
What is the difference between a USA bat and a USSSA bat? Is this a USSSA bat?
Darrell Smith
Youth baseball leagues generally enforce one of two bat certifications: USA or USSSA. The main difference between these two certifications is the level of bat performance that is allowed. USA bats are designed to be lower performing (more like a wood bat) and USSSA bats will allow for higher batter performance. This Rawlings 5150 -10 USA Baseball Bat (US9510) features the USA certification. The higher performing, USSSA-version of this bat is the Rawlings VELO -10 USSSA Baseball Bat (UT9V10).
Taylor
My son currently has a Cat 7 and we are looking for a new bat I was going to check out the Cat 8 but then I saw the reviews on this one. He is still able to use USSSA approved bats, but I was going to see the difference between a USA vs USSSA. Thank you.
Juan
The Rawlings 5150 -10 USA Baseball Bat: US9510 will not be as high performing as your CAT 7 USSSA certified bat. The USA approved bats will be more comparable to the performance of wood baseball bats. If you are able to use USSSA certified bat I would recommend using a USSSA, as if you are using a USA approved bat you will be at a disadvantage.
Max
How would you compare the drop 10 vs the drop 11 in terms of performance? My 12 year old who is 4'10" and only 75 lbs. tends to favor a lighter bat, but I'm afraid a drop 11 might compromise pop noticeably. Any suggestions?
Bill
The pop will be the same for both models of the Rawlings 5150 USA (US9510). Power is a product of bat speed plus the mass of the bat. This means that a heavier bat swung with the same bat speed will give you better performance, but if you can swing a lighter bat with better bat speed, you can make up that difference and get the same performance. Ultimately it comes down to each player's preference and what they do best with.
Kyle
Can you explain the difference between the -11 and the -10?
Erik
Between this 2019 Rawlings 5150 -10 USA Baseball Bat (US9510) and the -11 version of the same bat, the specs are going to be very similar. That being said, the -10 version might have a slightly longer length of barrel the features the full 2 5/8" barrel.
Ben
How does the barrel length compare to the 2018 model?
Charlie
The barrel length of the 2019 Rawlings 5150 -10 USA (US9510) is roughly the same as the 2018 model.
Kyle
Do they not make this in a 30/20 or is it just out of stock?
Corey Hickman
Rawlings did make the Rawlings 5150 -10 USA Baseball Bat: US9510 in a 30 inch 20 ounce model but we have unfortunately sold out of this size. At this time (6/17/19), we are awaiting the release of their 2020 lineup.

About the Brand

Rawlings is a major manufacturer of competitive team sports equipment and apparel for baseball, basketball, and football, as well as licensed MLB, NFL, and NCAA retail products. Rawlings is a major supplier to professional, collegiate, interscholastic and amateur organizations worldwide, including the Official Baseball Supplier to Major League Baseball.

The first real innovation in glove making occurred in 1912 when Rawlings Sporting Goods Company introduced the "Sure Catch" glove, which was "endorsed by leading players all over the country." The Sure Catch was a one-piece glove with sewn-in finger channels and looked better suited for a duck's foot than a man's hand. Catchers' mitts used at the time were large and bulky with a single leather thong passing for a web.

In 1920, Bill Doak, a journeyman pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, approached Rawlings with an idea for improving the baseball glove from a mere protective device to a genuine aid in fielding. The "Bill Doak" model was so revolutionary that it stayed in Rawlings' line until 1953. Its key feature was a multi-thong web laced into the first finger and thumb, which created for the first time in baseball's young life, a natural pocket.

In 1925, Rawlings unveiled a three-fingered fielder's glove, and ten years later improved the Bill Doak model with a two-piece leather web. At the same time, the "T" web became a rage for first basemen's mitts. The pocket underwent a pronounced change in 1941 when the Trapper Mitt, also known as the Claw, appeared. The "Deep Well" pocket was so unique that Rawlings quickly patented it. The design was improved in 1950 by adding a leather piece across the top. Another significant creation occurred in 1948 with the three-fingered Playmaker. A five-fingered fielder's model, with all fingers laced together, provided greater pocket control.

The six-fingered Trap-Eze evolved in the 1960's. In more recent years, Rawlings produced the Fastback design, which gives a glove a snugger fit, greater extension, and overall control. The Holdster is a slot through which a finger can be extended for additional protection from impacts on the pocket. Then, there is the Edge-U-Cated Heel with its extended U-shaped lacing and the Pro H Web and much-copied Basket Web.

Some of Rawlings more recent glove innovations also include the unique Spin-Stopper design which reduces ball spin when the ball hits the glove, and the Cantilever glove design feature that provides a cushioned area between the hand and the glove's palm area. In all, Rawlings has produced and patented more functionally innovative glove features and designs than that of any other glove manufacturer. The result is that the modern baseball glove is much larger, more comfortable, better padded and made to last far longer than its ancestors. It is not uncommon to see today's Major League players wearing the same Rawlings' glove they wore during their college playing days. In fact, Rawlings is the #1 glove in the major leagues. Rawlings maintains about 65 models of baseball and softball mitts and gloves in its line. The prototypes of virtually all of them have been field tested by professionals before entering a sporting goods dealer's inventory.
