Pros: Its a sleeper.
Cons: It doesn't cost enough.
Pros: got this for my kid he loved it
Cons: no cons
Pros: Great pop. Son loves it and prepares kids for -3 in next season
Cons: Only con so far is the white grip. Removed it first thing. looks good but gets dirty fast which makes it look trashy.
Pros: It is a really good bat Definatly worth the money has good pop and has no sting to the ha d has a nice big sweet spot it was broken in the day I got it
Cons: Gets to dirty the quickly the first day it was already brown and it
Pros: This bat is best bang for your buck!
Cons: no cons..get this bat!
Pros: Great pop and balance. My 12yr old plays 13u travel ball and if he continues to move up I knew that 14u would require drop 3, so I chose to ease the transition with a drop 5 this season. He loves it and is still getting around on that fast ball inside.
Pros: Less than a month after purchase my son hit his first HR. Now approximately a month after that first HR we just left a tournament where he cranked three. Several others on the team are beginning to hit with it as well. if i can get some of the still shots from his first HR ill submit them for action shots with the bat.
Cons: Not really anything negative to say. There is a little vibration if you do not get a solid hit.
Pros: huge barrel huge pop 1 pc performance end loaded inexpensive
Cons: 1 pc swings like a 30/27 heavy really white
Pros: feel and balance is just how my son likes it. Slightly end loaded
Cons: average pop. decent if it's hit precisely on the sweet spot which seems smaller than expected
Pros: Lots of pop
Cons: To loud for indoor use lol need ear plugs
Pros: Very light compared to other drop 5 bats Barrel seems long Great pop Compared this to Demarini CF Zen and it swings much lighter
Cons: None yet Don't know about durability, since we just got it, but the bat comes with a 12 month warranty
Pros: Great pop and don't have to hit the ball perfect for good results. The bat is very light and feels more like a -8 then a -5. Also the bat broke in very quickly. By far best bat I've had.
Pros: This bat has a large sweet spot and I cannot complain about the pop. I have broken many bats over my time as a player but this one has not broken after a year of grinding. I do not feel any sting when I mis-hit the ball off of the end or the handle.
Cons: It has a large handle and a large barrel making a feel that was just not right for me. I would not buy another one for this reason alone, but most people prefer large handles and would love this bat.
Pros: Hot out of the wrapper. Great sound.
Cons: Vibration on miss hits.
Pros: Feels lighter than my son expected having used a drop 5 before (he just turned 12.) The bat has a great pop and doesn't sting at all. He's gotten great hits with this bat. We highly recommend!
Pros: This bat is the best bat I have ever seen, a solid all around bat.
Cons: None what so ever
Pros: Never felt any vibration
Cons: We had to buy multiple bats of this because i cracked 4 of them in the sweet spot of the bat. Also the feeling of the bat is horrible
Pros: HAS GREAT POP AND VERY BALANCED. BAT SWINGS LIKE A DROP 8.
Cons: non at this point

Besides the color and one being 2 3/4" dia. and the other being 2 5/8" dia., is there a difference between the two 2018 USSSA Beast X-5 bats? What is the advantage of one size of diameter over the other?
There is no performance difference between the 2018 Easton Beast X -5 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL18BX58 and the 2018 Easton Beast X -5 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL18BX5. You touched on the two major differences in the colorways and barrel diameters. The larger barrel (2 3/4") diameter will give you a larger surface area for contact, but occasionally will have more durability issues than the 2 5/8" option.
Is this bat comparable to the Combat Maxum?
The 2018 Easton Beast X -5 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL18BX58 is a one-piece alloy just like the Combat Maxum. However, the Beast X is end loaded whereas the Combat Maxum is balanced.
My son has been using the 2015 XL1 and loves it. What is the current comparable bat?
Considering that 2015 XL1 was an end loaded, two-piece composite bat, I would recommend checking out the 2017 Easton MAKO BEAST XL Senior League Baseball Bat: SL17MK5. This 2018 Easton Beast X -5 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL18BX58 is another good bat but with it being a one-piece aluminum he would certainly notice an uptick in vibrations felt on contact.
What is the barrel length difference between the Beast X and the Ghost X? Meaning, how much larger is the sweet spot on the Ghost X vs. the Beast X?
Both the 2018 Easton Beast X -5 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL18BX58 and the 2018 Easton Ghost X -5 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL18GX58 will have new X-Tended barrel designs resulting in larger sweet spots.
My son has been using the 2016 Easton XL3 (drop 8) the last 2 seasons. How does the 2018 Easton Beast X -5 compare to that bat?
The 2018 Easton Beast X -5 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL18BX58 is basically the 2018 version of the 2016 XL3 he has been swinging. The Beast X -5 offers an end loaded swing weight, same as the 2016 XL3 -8, just 3 ounces heavier overall.
Does this bat have good pop? Would a composite bat have better pop?
Unfortunately, we do not have reviews yet on this 2018 Easton Beast X -5 Senior League Baseball Bat (SL18BX58). However, with time, I believe the reviews will accumulate and be pretty solid. Overall, I do not think that a composite barreled bat will have any more potential for performance when compared to this bat.
Will this bat be allowed under the new 2018 USA bat licensing rules?
The 2018 Easton Beast X -5 Senior League Baseball Bat: SL18BX58 is not USA approved, so it will not be legal for play in USA Baseball leagues.

Is this bat a composite or alloy?
The 2017 Marucci Hex Connect -5 Senior League Baseball Bat: MSBHCY5 is a two-piece all composite bat.
I have a 13 year old who is 5"7' who is a little over 100 lbs. He needs a -5 but I don"t know how much weight he can swing. Thoughts?
The weight that a player is comfortable with will vary from player to player. However, generally speaking I would recommend a 31" (26oz.) option of this 2017 Marucci Hex Connect -5 Senior League Baseball Bat: MSBHCY5.
Is this bat legal for 2018 USSSA 14u?
Yes, this bat carries the 1.15 BPF USSSA certification.
I use a drop 10 Easton Beast X 31/21 and sometimes use my COMBAT 30/20. I am 5'4" 110 pounds. So what size should I use?
Based on your height and weight, we would recommend using a 31 inch bat. Based on the previous sizes of bats you have been using though, you may want to consider getting the 2017 Marucci Hex Connect -5 Senior League Baseball Bat: MSBHCY5 in a 30/25 since you are jumping up a bit in weight.
My son is 4'8 about 95 lbs. He used a Combat 31inch 23oz drop 8 this past season. What would you recommend with the Marucci Hex?
Given your player's specifications, I would recommend the 31" 26oz. model of the 2017 Marucci Hex Connect -5 Senior League Baseball Bat: MSBHCY5. The Hex Connect will not be as balanced as the Combat, but should provide an excellent -5 USSSA bat for your player.
I'm 5´3 about 125-130, what size of bat should I get?
Given your specifications, I would generally recommend a 31" size for the 2017 Marucci Hex Connect -5 Senior League Baseball Bat: MSBHCY5.
My son is 5'9" about 120-125 (14 year old). What size do you recommend?
Per your son's height and weight, we would recommend getting the 2017 Marucci Hex Connect -5 Senior League Baseball Bat: MSBHCY5 in a 32 inch model.
How does this bat compare to the DeMarini CF8 bat that was discontinued?
The CF8 from DeMarini was a two-piece, all-composite bat with a very balanced swing feel to it. This 2017 Marucci Hex Connect -5 Senior League Baseball Bat (MSBHCY5) is a two-piece, hybrid bat with more of an end-loaded feel. I think both bats are really high performing, but you will need to decide if you like the end-loaded feel on this Hex Connect before buying it.
How does this bat compare to the Marucci Cat 7 -5 bat?
The 2017 Marucci Hex Connect -5 Senior League Baseball Bat: MSBHCY5 features a two piece composite design while the 2017 Marucci CAT 7 Senior League Baseball Bat: MSBC75 features a one piece aluminum design.
My 12 yr old is 5'2" and weighs 127 lbs. He will be using a drop -8 Easton Ghost X for Little League. We want a travel bat that will prepare him for the next step (but also show some performance). Is this a good option for him?
This 2017 Marucci Hex Connect -5 Senior League Baseball Bat (MSBHCY5) will be an extremely high performing USSSA 1.15 bat. Based on your player's height and weight, we would recommend a 31"/26 oz size. As long as the 26 oz size manageable for him, I think that this bat will show good performance and prep him for the BBCOR -3 bats he will have to use in high school.
Is this bat balanced or end loaded? I didn't see it in the bat description
This bat will have a balanced swing weight.
I have a big 12 year old. He's 5"7" and 180. Would this be a good bat for him?
The 2017 Marucci Hex Connect -5 Senior League Baseball Bat: MSBHCY5, in a 32 inch model, would be a great bat to consider for someone who is 5'7" and 180 pounds. This bat will feature a two-piece composite design with a balanced swing weight. This will allow a player to have great control of the barrel head and generate bat speed.
I'm trying to find a bat to get ready for high school. Is this barrel too big compared to BBCOR high school bats?
The 2017 Marucci Hex Connect -5 Senior League Baseball Bat: MSBHCY5 features a 2 5/8" barrel diameter, which is the same size as BBCOR bats that are required in high school.
Do you know what type of grip is on the Hex Connect? Is it a Lizard Skins grip?
It is a grip made specifically for Marucci bats, it is not lizard skin.
Which bat would you recommend for a small 14u travel baseball player, the Marucci Hex -5 or the DeMarini Voodoo -5?
Player preference is important in these products. Both are good bats and will perform great. However, the 2017 Marucci Hex Connect -5 Senior League Baseball Bat (MSBHCY5) is a two piece fully composite while the Voodoo is a two piece hybrid. The decision will be based on the design of the bats.
My son plays travel ball in Nations and USSSA and is moving to 13U. My understanding is that bat rules are changing Jan 1. Will this bat be legal?
The bat rules are changing for AABC, Babe Ruth/Cal Ripken, Dixie, Little League, and Pony. All bats used in those leagues will need the new USA stamp on them. However, USSSA bat rules are not changing so the 2017 Marucci Hex Connect -5 Senior League Baseball Bat: MSBHCY5 will be legal for next year.
Are there specific break-in instructions for this bat?
The best way to break in the 2017 Marucci Hex Connect -5 Senior League Baseball Bat: MSBHCY5, or any other composite bat for that matter, would be to hit off a tee or soft toss for roughly 150-250 swings at about 60% max swing rate. After each swing one will need to rotate the barrel a 1/4 turn.
My son is moving from little league to a travel ball team. Looking at 2 5/8", -5 marucci. Should I get him a 30" or 31"? He's 5' tall, 90 lbs.
Based on his current height and weight, I would suggest a 30" 2017 Marucci Hex Connect -5 Senior League Baseball Bat: MSBHCY5.
What does end loaded mean? What makes this bat so good? Is it better than the CAT 7? I make really good contact and good power but not a ton. Does this bat have a lot of pop? Or can you tell me some bats that have the most pop?
(1) An end-loaded bat is one that will have more weight towards the end of the barrel. Essentially, these bats have smaller sweet spots but the ideal hitting area is tuned higher since you have more weight to work with in the sweet spot. (2) What makes the 2017 Marucci Hex Connect -5 Senior League Baseball Bat: MSBHCY5 a popular bat is the two-piece design with a balanced swing weight. This makes the bat much easier to swing and the two-piece design will help reduce vibration from off-centered hits. (3) There is no physical evidence that would show this bat is better than the CAT 7. (4) It is hard to say how much pop this bat has as "pop" is one of personal opinion.
Is this bat a balanced bat or end loaded? How would you compare to the Combat MAXUM -5?
The 2017 Marucci Hex Connect -5 Senior League Baseball Bat: MSBHCY5 features a balanced swing weight. It is comparable to the MAXUM as well. However, the Hex Connect is a two-piece design and the MAXUM is a one-piece design.
Does this bat flex like a composite or is it stiff like an aluminum barrel?
The 2017 Marucci Hex Connect is a two-piece, fully composite bat. The two-piece design will let the bat flex more during the swing than a one-piece design.
Does it have great pop and does it increase your bat speed?
All early indications are that the 2017 Marucci Hex Connect -5 Senior League Baseball Bat: MSBHCY5 does have good pop. As for increasing one's bat speed, there is not a bat that will do that except going to a lighter bat or physical development on the player's behalf; as one physically gets stronger then they will be able to swing a bat faster.
